Pardon me. Haven't done a change of name too and all documents are still in my maiden name. No affidavit nor newspaper publication. Doing this process to in my maiden name and spouse is accompanying. We don't have to put anything in that section since we don't have any backup abi?

Oakville19:

I also have my maiden name on my passport, however I inputed my married name in the section that asks have you used another name, this triggers a file upload section for change of name documents in which I attached my change of name affidavit and publication and a LOE for why my passport was still in my maiden name although I have done name change. I have gotten my PPR. Not sure if this is necessary though if you did not upload any supporting documentation with your married name.

A million thanks. Did you further attach an LOE? Were you further asked for details of the common law partner? When we get to this bridge will definitely get in touch if you don't mind. Thank you.

Enitan007:
Thank you. There's a portion of e-APR where previous relationship question is asked. We selected yes, then as a common law relationship and duration of the relationship. No document was requested.

Congratulations!

Have a similar case, Please how did you go about this? in details?

Enitan007:
It’s COPR guys (LONG POST ALERT)

An agent ‘joined’ her with a guy and claimed they were married in their applications. This was disclosed in our application. We claimed she had a common law relationship with the guy, and that ended before we met.

My verification was sent back before Easter and has been received and my page is still showing documents under review. I have also mailed them severally. They claim to have lots of academic evaluation at hand.

Let's know when you have a break through

Edmontonlad:
Hello everyone.

Please is anyone in my shoes?
My wife's credentials has been acknowledged by WES since last week Thursday and last time it was updated was on 29/04/2019.

See the screen shot.

I have called, emailed them, sent dm via Twitter and yet, it's still reading the same message.

If you are in this issue, what have you done please?

Thanks for the prayers and kind words.

Praying for you. You are doing the right thing by starting the process. Don't worry, he will catch on later once he sees how much you have progressed.

Thanks for the encouragement. I only need em to write IELTS. I hope he comes around soon o. Birthday is fast approaching.

amaya21:
Many women on the thread have been in this position. I had to process my hubby's ECA on his behalf. He didn't lift a finger. He eventually grudgingly wrote IELTS. Now he's the one asking how far with our application every week.

cry cry cry cry

Spouse isn't particularly keen on this EE thing. I've booked my IELTS and ECA is in process yet spouse has refused to do nothing including renewing expired passport. Me, am bent on this route o and I don't want to apply as spouse non-accompanying because I won't get PCC and medicals. What other option do I have?

Please say a word of prayer for us

Why not intiate the divorce process pending that you can get a letter from the court that you are separated which you can begin your application process with and once the divorce goes through you can raise "that thing that we raise to inform shey nah IRCC". Similar issues has been discussed on canadavisa, you can search or use google. Unfortunately I don't know how to attach links would have done so.
That way your POF will be for a family of 3 and you don't have to involve him in anything before he gets hell bent on going with you.

Lalaan:
Hi guys. I need proper guidance.this is my profile.
1. I'm 34, married with 2 kids, masters degree in the UK. 4 years working experience with Guinness as a facility co-ordinator. I'm an entrepreneur now and my business has been very good since 2017.
2. My husband and I don't live together. Let's just say we have been separated for 2 years. Still married legally but we don't talk.
3. He is uneducated.
4. I have always taken care of everything financially, from school fees to bills without him(even when we were on good terms) . There's proof of this.
Now my main concern is this:
1. I don't plan on applying with him for the express entry program because this would mean increase my proof of funds. So do I just get his consent for the kids?
2. Do I enter the pool using my previous work experience or use entrepreneurship?

Chief 'worrier'......you are worried for nothing

ummhalimah:
Good day elders, if I said I was living in a particular address when I was filling form(schooling) and the bank account I opened during the same period of that schooling carries another address (I went to spend holiday at my sister's place and opened account their) does this mean anything or am just worried for nothing.

Thanks in anticipation, more questions on the way

Team celebrating little victories.

Edmontonlad:
I feel like I have gotten PPR already and I never even write my test. Please allow me to celebrate about our little achievement.

So last two weeks Sunday, I and wify left for Lagos to start weac processing and her transcript. We met one elderly woman opposite the weac gate and we paid the fees she told us even though she was acting so unconcerned and hurry-up-and-pay-kinda-attitude. We spent about 28k or so because wify used GCE. We Sha left and concluded all the weac issues. We were told it will take 3 weeks for weac to process it. We proceeded to her school which was close. We met a nice and God sent woman in the transcript department of YABATECH and she helped us. She told us it will take 3 weeks to prepare the transcript before wify did different programs in ND and HND. I tipped her though. Na she dey call for updates about my wify's certificate and transcript. grin

Now you are wondering why I wrote this even though I have not written my ielts exam Abi?
I read a post here about the delay we might experience due to the upcoming WEAC exam and it could delay the process. I was tired and had to make sure we finish our part and live the rest to God. We did a calculation that by end of June we will get ITA. We prayed to God to touch waec and YABATECH to send the documents on time.

Guess what? We received our waec tracking number last night and got the YABATECH tracking number this morning as we used UPS. We paid N13,500.

So, we hope that if it gets to WES by this weekend, we start counting 35 working days from next week. Our June target is still on track.
Our test is next month and God's willing, we are going to WRITE IT ONCE. YES, ONCE!!! BELIEVE, WORK HARD AND GOD WILL DO THE REST.

Since I found out about Express Entry, This thread has become my second bae and ielts materials my third bae. Wify is the PA inbtw. I sleep and dream of life in Canada. We are newly married and we have decided to chill with baby making till we get to Canada. I am one of those that has made inquiries about accommodation. No day we don't discuss about life in Canada.

Point is, which ever level you are, celebrate it. It's not easy. I believe in the end, we will all be alright.

Start your process if you have not.
Get all the necessary documents ready.

@IFEOMA77 has been of great help. We appreciate you. Our ielts Prof Wasiu, we appreciate you too. To all IELTS AND ECA CLINCHERS, good news will be your portion, to ALL OUR PPR CLINCHERS, GOD HAS DONE IT. Now go and prosper in your new land. Don't listen to any negative vibes.
Thanks to everyone who has answered any of my silly questions. Daalunu!

Thank you. Can't even think of a valid and concise reason to give. Was never even married to the person just paper work but i am married now.

captainhoo:

This is entirely my opinion
You need to first get a divorce letter if you are no longer "married" to the person. Be truthful and write the reason given to you for denial and pray God helps you with it

Was once denied American visa after wimning a lottery and the agent decided to merge me with another person and presented you as a couple. Our stories didn't gel so obviously the application was turned down. I'm worried this could affect the present application and also, what possible reason can i give for the visa refusal that I won't come across as being unfaithful?
Never thought this will haunt me. Anyone pass through a similar situation?
sad shocked shocked cry cry

On a brighter note, WES sent out my degree for verification before receiving WAEC. Or is it the norm? grin. I just hope the remaining process is fast

Thanks for the explanation.

iaatmguy:
you state the amount in the RSA, then calculate 25% of the amount. This (25% of the amount ) would be the amount you can use as POF

Good thing people understood. Thanks for making it clearer.

WaleCanada:

The bolded made me laugh hard. House i'd also like to understand how the whole pension fund thing can be added to POF. I have a 5 years work history, with stanbic IBTC pension fund. How can i add this to POF?

Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 7 by omoluabiade: 7:08pm On Apr 15, 2019
Thanks for the clarification. See me think POF is almost complete sad

Ifeoma77:

grin grin grin grin
First of all, say your total pension contribution is 1M; the only amount you can add in POF is 25% (250,000)

Secondly, your PFA must state it in the letter that you have access to that 25%. If they don't, it's pointless using the RSA as POF.

On POF matter. Those that used RSA, was it the 25% that was added to the POF account i.e was indicated you have access too or the lump sum in RSA?

Did I communicate undecided cry I don't even understand my question. Sure someone will help interpret better
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 7 by omoluabiade: 4:33pm On Apr 13, 2019
Understood thanks.

captainhoo:

You can put all into one account or separate account, but you must include letter that the PA has access to the funds. It's the requirement from IRCC to include POF for un accompanying spouse.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 7 by omoluabiade: 1:23pm On Apr 13, 2019
Now I know what POF is. Why do we have to include POF if not the PA? Isn't it possible we pull resources together into an account and present it? Enlighten me please

captainhoo:

If you are married and your spouse won't go to Canada with you. You apply as married but accompanying spouse, not as a single. However, your POF will include that of the spouse

Thank you. Back to the table to discuss our options.

joo2018:
3 options.

1. You change him to accompany. However, you CRS score will be recalculated and if below cut-off for the draw, that is refusal.

2. After you land, you sponsor him. You must have patience as it is a long route.

3. He can apply for EE by him if he is eligible.

If my name is shortened on one of my certificates do I have to swear an affidavit? Surname and middle name remains same.

So if spouse is selected as non accompanying ATM, we can later go ahead to apply for his PR say months or years down the line? Do you know anyone who has gone down this route?

Between if applying with spouse, must spouse write ielts and evaluate certificates If not the PA?

kingspaco:

There will be no complications in choosing your spouse as non accompanying dependent. The reason that is needed is to give you the approximate points you'll get to enter the pool. It doesn't stop him from visiting using visiting visa. For him to be given PR anytime he may wish latter in future, you'll have to sponsor him then.

The study route to Canada isn't as straightforward as the Express entry is which is one of the reasons few persons who tried study route and could not get Visa to have a look at their chances with Express entry.

Having said that, you could start a certificate program here in Nigeria to give you points for two or more certificates.
An option to study French and take the exam is also available for you as that will give you more points as well.

All the best
