Politics › Re: Why Can't Lagos And Ogun States Be Merged? by Omolulu(m): 7:50am On Jun 01, 2010 |
i believe the issue in neither with regions or state, both work fine for me, although i prefer states in place, our experience with both regions and states have shown that the key issue are the people who run them, because of a multi-ethnic society like Nigeria in which you find variety of indigeneous tribes in each state administration becomes more political whereby we have squabbles over where the next governor should come from or where the next general hospital should be located, with the volatile nature of our politics i doubt if such a merger would hold water for long irrespective of any economic argument( and this should never be the only factor considered in administration). as someone on this thread said the 2 states have their own identity and it would be best to leave them that way.
nonetheless the quality and pace of leadership and admin should be our main focus, this is Nigeria anyway, a country where economic suggestions are left in cabinets and files for a thousand years, |

otawa: and ofcourse neglect of more communities.
this is no reason to merge. rather Ogun state should take advantage of that to grow. this will further reduce 'load' on Lagos
Lagos is not too small rather Lagos has too many people. It has 15million people. Norway is only 7million.
I guess Benin Republic should merge with Nigeria.
Ok, so they should merge for benefit of Lagos? this is already dead on arrival Another self serving. Why should the new name be Lagos if they merge. why cant it be Ogun?
You got this wrong. Please visit Berlin to under-stand that scenarios is way-off with Lagos and Ogun. Go again and read your history.
where is merging in Europe? having 'schengen area' is not same as merging that Ogun has to loose its identity for Lagos.
How greatest problem is CORRUPTION which is an after effect of the fact that we hate ourself as AFRICANS.
It is only people that self-hate, will still their family MONEY and go and give to neigbour to keep for them. good argument |

zubeyr: the prophet was not acting outside the norms of the society in which he lived it was very normal age at that time it is the modern society that extended the age and during the crusade the xtians have childrens soldiers age of 7 to 9 also according to oxford dictionary of the bible joseph was 90 when he married 12 yrs old mary so don't come here and talk you rubbish some xtians and orientalist have tried to make an issue out of this because of theirs narrow minds and ignorance IS THERE A LAW OR NOT? there is, the Child Rights Act HAS IT BEEN BROKEN BY YERIMA? yes it has, if not why is he hiding the girl's age More irritating is the claim that he only regards the laws of Islam, Why then did he contest for a seat in the senate? why is he not in the ulama or whatever authority there is in zamfara, with the rate at which certain Northern characters are going we might have to break up, I have never supported such a move though but with characters like this one is forced to reconsider, I dare say it is not a Muslim issue but one of illiteracy, after all there have been so many muslim personalities who haven't descended so low to this paedophile's level |

Simple, Please what is the name of the school, if they don't relocate you and pay all ur expenses straight up or if you have to do their tests and pass their hurdles, then you must come off ur high horse and be more humble about it rather than make noise as if ur the only one doing the masters, i'm sure ud still meet other nairalanders who would advice u better anyway, |

ziga: Fetal injury is a possible complication of ceserian delivery and the risks of this happening will increase if an emergency surgery, rather than a planned surgery is done. http://pregnancy.emedtv.com/cesarean-section/fetal-injury-during-a-c-section.html
I provided this information because i can see that everybody has judged without trying to research facts.
Culpability in this case can't be determined until a full investigation has been done. And the guilty should be made to face the music.
So what i think we should call for should be a full unbiased investigation of this incident and less sentiments. true talk, more light should be shed on the situation that led to the discharge, if the mother was called to dress the kid and she delayed or failed to oblige then the blame might not be with the doctors, more light shud be shed nonetheless, our health system is in shambles, the hospital should be able to take care of that child at least for a period of time |

edoyad: I now understand it when some people say many NLers post from abroad and don't know didley squat about Nigeria. What is 6k a month for stable electricity ? Many of those people who live in face-me-i-face-yous have i-pass-my-neighbours running on petrol bought at 70 naira per liter if you don't know . Even unemployed Nigerians who sell recharge cards and charge phone batteries for a living have gen. sets which they also have to service regularly. Look at the rubbish some ignoram(uses)i are saying here, that 6k is too much to pay so the plan is not viable Did anyone ever tell you that 6k was the flat rate ? Nigerians already pay some of the highest rates for phone calls so what are you on about ? true, true, |

okhai: Who cares if the country breaks up. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. When all these yrs the northerners were ruling, the south did not threaten break up.It is a cheap blackmail and propaganda in order to cow and intimidate Goodluck from contesting. As Nigeria, he has the constitutional right and privilege to contest. Afterall, the so called zoning arrangement by the pdp is not enshrined in the constitution of the federal republic of nigeria. If the zoning arrangement was binding, how come northerners contested the pdp primary election with obj in the 2003 election. true, brother u hit that nail on the head. |
