Celebrities / Re: I Went From Flying All The Time To Sleeping On The Floor - Chinko Ekun Opens Up by omomummy13: 4:17pm On Nov 14, 2022
Sammydanny:
Chinko Ekun, one of Nigeria's popular rappers and singer, has told a really interesting story of how things went rough for him.
He talked about how things fell apart in his personal life after he rose to the spotlight as a popular artist.

The rapper made this revelation at the SummerJam 2022 conference at Pastor Bolaji Idowu‘s Harvester’s Church in Lagos state. Chinko Ekun, who gained lots of popularity after releasing the song titled “Able God”, revealed he suffered a major setback in his career when he was signed to Dek-Niyor Entertainment.

He confirmed he had a fallout with his boss at the time which led to him losing his deal with the label. He stated that the label reclaimed the house and cars that were gifted to him. He began to squat with friends and often slept on the floor.

Because of how rough things were, his girlfriend even left him and the heartbreak was so tough that it landed him in the hospital.

Below is what he had to say.

Business / Re: CBN Raises Interest Rate To 15.5% To Curb Rising Inflation by omomummy13: 9:56pm On Sep 27, 2022
Emefiele is TRULY a disaster.

Inflation in Nigeria is as a result of naira loosing value against dollar, scarcity of products (aviation fuel), insecurity, free cash coming from corruption as well as CBN printing money to support a non productive government/economy.

If sellers pay more to import, the end result will be price increase and since most goods in Nigeria have dollar component either for raw materials or finished goods, our present situation is inevitable.

All these problems were created by the elite. I just don't understand why the CBN governor is hell bent on destroying the economy. Raising rate should never be an option because our Inflation is majorly cost push.

FYI, citizens made government accountable in the country you presently reside as a refugee. Yes, I said it REFUGEE cuz no matter what you achieve, you can never have the same rights like the indigenous people.

So I saw a thread earlier, and decided to educate husbands in the house how to play the home politics, just as adviced by my pastor's wife.

My pastor's wife thought me a valuable lesson. She legitly told us to be smart as husbands, when the kids did something wrong in your absence and your wife did not discipline the child, but waits for you to come back and discipline them, don't. Make sure she disciplines them herself, otherwise your kids will think you are the wicked one and the evil one.

Don't always give your wife all the money to buy things for the kids, take the children out to the market, buy them clothes, take them to the grocery store, buy the provision in their present. Let them know you are the one buying them. If you buy them shoes or anything, make sure they are aware that you are the one buying them. If you do all these, the kids will love you more. This is 2022, don't allow your wife rob you of your years of labor when it's time to reap.

You can add your own way of playing the family politics.

Please if this is front page worthy, kindly move to fp, so men can learn 1 or 2 this new year.

May our wives not take all our glory all in the name of I'm too busy in Jesus name. Amen

A huge hug for you my friend. Women are so manipulative both young and old.

So wiffy was finding it difficult to accept she was wrong and apologize. As Man wey no wan die young, decided to leave her and face my front. Her mother later came around and was curious to know why I don't eat at home. Hmmn, mumu me ended up spending close to an hour to catalogue what her daughter did. She apologized and promised to speak with her daughter.

2 days went down, no feedback from mother inlaw neither did her daughter apologize. All of us dey the same house dey run our things and this woman sat down cozing up with her daughter. I let it slide and took my kids out as per say nothing concern me. You won't believe she took offence and refused to speak with her OWN kids the following day. Innocent as they are, those ones were just wondering what happened. Their mother inlaw had to call them in to apologize to their mum behind me after asking if they love her. Laughs, I went bonkers when the kids told me and that was the last straw for me.

I don tell the pikin to either choose me or her mother and I don't ever want to see her in my house again. See ehn, na make God just Bless Man otherwise, woman will drag you like generator while pretending they no not what they do.

I moved to this city because of my new job and my neighbors have been very homely and helpful to me especially the ones next flat,a young man and his wife with a kid . They have been very kind to me, sometimes when I get home late from work his wife calls me to join them for dinner and hangouts.

My issue now is I am beginning to grow fond of the man because of how gentlemanly he treats his wife and how dotting he is of their son. He ticks all the qualities that I dream of and sometimes I just feel like inviting him over to my place when his wife is out to tempt him a little.

What can I do to stop this feeling?
I don't want someone else man or to destroy a cute family.

Please don't insult me because I am in a relationship though it's a young relationship and I cherish my man I just see myself falling for this neighbor.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: How Being A Nigerian Cost Me A Foreign Job by omomummy13: 1:59pm On Oct 21, 2021
Blue001:
Hi Nairalanders,

Last year I lost my Job as an AfterSales Analyst at a multinational company called AlFuttaim in the Peak of the Covid scare in Dubai, UAE. This is when it all began, Paying my rent became a problem, feeding became a problem. At that time the frustration in the country was everywhere due to the lock down and lot of Nigerians joined some illegal activisties in the UAE.

Unlike other nations Known to me, the desperation of Nigerians is quite on the high side so most delved into Yahoo-Yahoo. So it was so rampant and obvious in Dubai then and even now.
The difficulty was much and the lockdown was highly enforced, not giving room for any means of making ends meet.
At that time I had to return to Nigeria, I stayed with my sister’s husband because he was alone during the lockdown hoping to return back to the UAE when the opportunity rises again.
I had to start up a POS business with a 50k support from a family member, but due to the location of the business which is a developing environment, customers traffic was very low, sometimes I made 400 naira daily as profit though the ironic factor was that the closest ATM for cash refill was 600naira daily.
So the business couldn’t thrive. I had to start an analytic firm just to be employed but honestly so many factors I can’t explain here hinders infant industries in Nigeria.
Now in Dubai, Nigerians already have bad names in the communities and employers weren’t willing to considering Nigerians. Though I kept applying to different organizations in Nigeria and in Dubai like wise.
I really never understood the Nigerian market also, when I got some interviews but was turned down as a result of under employment. Three organizations made this clear to me during the interview. So at that time I had to wonder if being qualified for a job is now a curse.
I have had Nigerian HRs contacting me via my LinkedIn portfolio but never landed me any Job.

Now the highlight of the frustration is that, I just got a Job at Dubai with AWRostamani another multinational as a Senior Data Analyst in the internal Audit department, and I am to be paid 9000aed which is like 1.4million naira. Two days ago made it three weeks the HR confirmed the Job as mine instructing that I go to their company’s platform to update my details where she will process my e-employment letter & Visa which I did immediately.
But I never heard from them, I sent mails informing them that I had already created my profile but yet to see an employment letter, yet no response. So on Tuesday (a day before yesterday) I had to call them and this is when the HR told me they are having difficulties processing my employment visa since I am a Nigerian and there is an on going ban on visa processes on Nigerians (aside Tourist Visas). I called some of my friends Nigerians and non-Nigerians living in Dubai to ask if they know any possible way I could go through to get this sorted out, they said it’s impossible because they are very much aware about the Nigeria situation in Dubai.

I dint know when tears began running down my eyes and my mum crying with me because she knows how bad I need a change.

Please Nairalanders, I am a data Analyst with over 5 years experience. Can you please help me with an opportunity or if you know a place I could find an opportunity.

A man bought a new car for his girlfriend, eventhough she rejected his marriage proposal, IgbereTV reports.

The TikTok user with the handle @Turkcooper took to the video-sharing platform to share the moment he presented the car to the woman.

He explained that he had already told her that he had a "small gift" for her, so, despite her refusal to marry him, he still presented the car to her.

The woman excitedly received the car key and immediately got into the car for a test drive.

All the people I'm affiliated with that moved abroad are all doing great, and 100 percent of them are from the south. I think southerners are more go getters than the MB or north especially those from the west and Eastern part of the country.

A friend of mine that left the country 3 years ago is now building a duplex in warri. His brother is married to an Irish and a citizen so he helped him secure a job. His salary right now due to exchange rate is almost 1.5 million a month.

That's a little above 2000 quid. By the time to deduct expenses, he'll be lucky to have 500 pounds left.

Make una dey reason say as una dey talk, others too dey listen. Overseas is ok, Nigeria is ok. Make all man choose their path in peace.

You are quite right. Some #EndSARS activists did not want toll collection, not the EndSARS brutality, that’s just a smokescreen. And some of them ask why collect tolls when they are paying tax. That’s what they do in most developed countries. They build roads and collect tolls. Some of the tolls are collected for ever. They don’t campaign against their government because they know that every good road is built with money. They even pay more tax than us. Apart from 50% PAYE tax in U.K., you also pay VAT on many goods and also road tax for your vehicle. Yet you pay toll charges on some of the roads.

Explains why everyone wants to be in the UK. They tax and spend the money on the people.

How does the government in Nigeria spend money generated from tax. They turn around to loot everything and then buy whatever is in sight to oppress you. You're doing yourself more harm by defending your oppressors.
