You see this level of propaganda and lies by IPOB in real time.

Yet you still believe the lies that Obafemi Awolowo, a civilian ordered military troops to starve Igbo kids during the civil war.

When for months, food was being taken from Igbo Civilians and given to the Biafra officers and their families.

When the people who worked with China Achebe admitted that they deliberately published pictures from their own starvation of their people to Europe and America to whip up sentiments.

IPOB boys online are doing what Chinua Achebe and Co did.

It's just sad that they continue to fool supposedly smart people that Obafemi Awolowo, a bloody civilian, ordered a blockade

Crime / NAFDAC Impounds 120 Tons Of Unwholesome Imported Ponmo by OmoOgunOriginal(f): 9:17pm On Feb 20, 2022
… Arrests 7 for persons

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, weekend in Lagos intercepted large quantities of dangerous animal hides and skins popularly known as Ponmo even as it arrested seven persons involved in the importation of the deadly product.

The Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye however warned the general public, particularly consumers of Ponmo against the activities of some unscrupulous businessmen and traders who are selling industrial animal hides as food articles.

Adeyeye, in a press statement on Sunday, disclosed that the NAFDAC Investigation and Enforcement officials swiftly carried out intelligence gathering around certain locations where the alleged products were being warehoused and sold.

She said the development was in response to several complaints received from the public, pertaining to alleged sale and distribution of imported hides and skins meant for use in leather industries and which had already been processed with industrial chemicals.

“These hides and skins are then sold to unsuspecting public as consumable animal skin products, otherwise called Ponmo.

“Monitoring was also extended to some buyers who patronise the sellers and custodians of the warehouse, she said, adding that preliminary investigation revealed that some of the hides and skins were imported illegally and sometimes diverted to some merchants of death who re-process the hides and skins and further sell them as consumable Ponmo to the public.

To this end, she said the Agency recently conducted investigative raids upon some identified locations in Lagos State where market women and men were found clustered for purchase of leftovers from the warehouses.

She disclosed that large quantities (120 tons) of the products were intercepted at six different locations, stressing that seven suspects who were alleged to be involved in the acts are currently under investigation.

Adeyeye further explained that samples of the products have been sent to the laboratory for testing so as to ascertain the products quality and unwholesomeness. According to her, the intervention would help the Agency deal with the interaction and the dangers associated with the consumption of these products.

The street value of the product currently intercepted is estimated to be around N25.330m only. “

Adeyeye however, alerted the general public on the existence of these merchants of death and their nefarious activities, warning Nigerians to exercise caution when buying animal hides, popularly known as Ponmo

She further advised consumers and retailers of Ponmo not to patronise importers of hides and skins for consumable animal skins,.

She further warned that the hides, are pre-treated with industrial chemicals which are not of food grade and will be toxic and injurious to human health, stressing that health hazards inherent in the consumption of such animal hides include risk of Liver, Kidney and Heart damage, increased risk of Aplastic anemia, Central nervous system toxicity, Cancer, amongst several others.

“The general public is hereby encouraged to be very vigilant and exercise discretion when purchasing animal hides PONMO and indeed other food items. NAFDAC is fully alive to her responsibilities of assuring the safety, wholesomeness, and quality of processed foods offered for sale to the public.”

Between seventeen and eighteen passengers have died in a ghastly auto-crash at Ishara axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State.

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) puts the preliminary figure at 17, while Ogun State Road Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) said 18 died in the accident.

All of them were burnt beyond recognition after their Mazda bus caught fire before Ishara bridge.

The accident which occurred at 5 am on Friday, involved two vehicles, a Mazda Bus marked ZT 728 KLD and an unmarked Dangote tanker.

The state sector commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ahmed Umar in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, superintendent route commander, Florence Okpe, said both vehicles had a head-on-collision, resulting into a fire outbreak.

Umar describes the crash as avoidable, if traffic regulation had been respected.

He directs members of public seeking more details to contact the FRSC unit at Ogere.

Meanwhile, TRACE said that two of the eighteen passengers who died in the crash are females, while the gender of others could not be immediately recognized.

According to TRACE spokesman, commander Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Dangote tanker crossed to the opposite lane and collided with the passenger bus.

Properties / Ogun Landlords Protest Christ Embassy’s Claim To Estate Land in Aseese by OmoOgunOriginal(f): 7:41am On Feb 16, 2022
Landlords and residents of the Royal Garden Community Development Association have accused the Believers Love World, aka Christ Embassy, of encroaching on their land in Aseese, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The residents said the church, while claiming ownership of the estate’s land, brought some men to mark buildings on the estate for demolition.

The landlords and residents, who staged a protest on Thursday, said Christ Embassy had no right over their landed property.

Starting around 6am, the protesters were seen carrying placards with different inscriptions including, ‘Pastor Chris, leave our community,’ ‘Christ Embassy can’t invalidate our CofO,’ ‘Do not preach by using caterpillars,’ among others.

During the protest, the Chairman of the CDA, Adekola Abayomi, said the struggle over ownership claim of the landed property had been a lingering issue in the community.

He added that efforts to get the government to administer justice in the matter had proved abortive.

Abayomi said, “We have been in a struggle for the past three years. When they came in 2019, we took them to court, but they didn’t show up. In October 2021, when most of our men were not around, they came with land grabbers to mark our houses.

“So, our lawyer wrote to the Ministry of Urban and Regional Planning in Ogun State, on the claim that representatives of Christ Embassy were saying our land falls under the church’s land, but the ministry failed to respond.

“Sometime in January, the church’s representatives came again with land grabbers to mark houses on the estate. So, we decided to protest because the government refused to respond to our letters and we want its intervention for the matter to be settled.”

PUNCH Metro gathered that during the protest, the Divisional Police Officer, Ibafo, visited the scene of the incident and later invited representatives of the CDA and the church’s Chief Security Officer, Ighodalo Ozazuwa, over the matter.

The immediate past Chairman of the CDA, Akin Olaoye, urged the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, to a meeting where documents would be presented by members of the estate and representatives of the church.

Olaoye added, “They bought land from the Oloke family and we bought ours from the Aseese family. Christ Embassy came to our community with promises and we were happy to receive them, but they didn’t fulfil their promises.

“When the church’s representatives came again with some government officials to mark buildings and cause pandemonium in the community, most of us had gone to work, but rushed back home.

“Since then, we concluded that we won’t go anywhere because we are afraid that they can come anytime to demolish our property. Some of our landlords have CofOs. The left side is for us and the right side belongs to the church.”

A spokesperson for the church, Chris Ebare, said he held a meeting with members of the community a few days earlier.

He added, “During the meeting, they gave me an appeal letter to give to the pastor. As of 2003 when we went there to buy land, from the major road to where our church is located, only one house owned by one Mr Rasaq was there.

“We bought land from Aseese, Mamba, Oloke, and other families. Late Alhaji Tajudeen Ogooluwa sold 522 acres of land to us. We also got CofO for the entire land. When we wanted to do our road, the government officials came to mark out the boundary of our land and that was when they marked all the property that fell on the road.

“I am the lawyer for the ministry. So, they called me and started appealing for their houses not to be destroyed. About 10 houses encroached on our land and I told them that I would take their pleas to the church authorities.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said, “Anybody who has issues relating to land ownership should go to court as it is only the court that can give ownership of land to a particular person.

“So, the invitation by the police was just to caution them to allow peace to reign and not to allow their protest degenerate into a breakdown of law and order.”

Family / Re: Please Advice! I’m Having Multiple Issues With My Marriage by OmoOgunOriginal(f): 9:41pm On Feb 08, 2022
Lasunray01:
Good day nairalanders. My first time post in 5yrs.

Will try to summarize the issues and seek sincere advise please.

I’ve been married before but got divorced within a year due to genotype issues(it’s a long story). So I remarried 2yrs after and with a child now, and that’s where my issues started from.

I know I have some bad sides too which I’m trying to change, which is flirting with single ladies, and this has caused multiple fight with my wife.

Whenever we have this fights, not physical, just verbal, but in her anger she breaks virtually anything around, cups, laptop, speakers etc. she can be madly angry. I’ve warned, petted her severally to desist from this act especially infront of our kid...but she won’t. It’s getting worse by the day. Now she reports me with blackmail to her parents and friends making me feel I’m the worst husband in the universe, calling me unprintable names. Calling me weak cos I don’t beat.

Now the advice I seek, we are planning to relocate as a family abroad this year, but I’m really scared. I can actually go alone, but would prefer we all go together since I have the means. But I’m scared if I won’t regret my actions to take her along with this her character. What if I get jailed or lose custody of our child abroad, because she’s a master in blackmail. She can turn simple issue overboard.

Sorry for the long epistle. Just had to pour out my mind. Constructive criticism is welcomed.

Thank you

You don't need any advice. You already know what to do.

Politics / Dapo Abiodun: Ogun State Has Highest Number Of Yahoo Yahoo Boys by OmoOgunOriginal(f): 8:14pm On Jan 21, 2022
The Ogun State Government has admitted that it parades highest number of internet fraudsters known as yahoo yahoo boys in the country, with declaration that it is determined to stop the menace.

Penpushing reports that, Governor Dapo Abiodun made the disclosure on Friday while speaking at launch of ‘OP-MESA’, a joint security outfit, explaining that the reasons behind the rate was the existence of high number of institutions in the state.

The Governor explained that, in view of this, his administration has concluded arrangements for the establishment of state commission on crimes to complement the roles of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC)

Penpushing further reports that, Abiodun assured that with the set up of the commission, the criminals will be smoked out, and had them handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution

‘Ogun state is capital of yahoo yahoo boys. They even did award night in Abeokuta, for best hacker. We can understand reason for this, it is because Ogun state has the highest number of institutions in the country’, Abiodun said.

‘We have decided to set up our own state commission to eliminate the cyber crime, our commission will collaborate with EFCC. We will smoke them out, hand them over to appropriate authorities’,he emphasised

‘As a responsive and responsible Government, we cannot and will not fold our arms and watch as criminals take over our land and become an avoidable jeopardy to our joint and respective development strides’.

Penpushing also reports that, he explained that, the inauguration of OP-MESA was a further confirmation that the government is not taking the security of lives and property for granted in the State.

‘This OP–Mesa Security outfit will therefore complement the existing security outfits that we have already launched such as “the Amotekun”, Joint Security, JSS to further guarantee that we have good ambience in Ogun State and other necessary facilities’, he added.

‘It is part of a holistic approach to tackle insecurity in our State, especially in the face of a new resurgence of kidnappings on our interstate roads in the last couple of weeks.

‘These unscrupulous elements have no place in Ogun State. They are security threats to us. Why should moving from one state to the other become worrisome experience for our people?’ Why would the roads we are constructing and rehabilitating become a nightmare for people going about their legitimate businesses?’

The governor said ‘OP-MESA’ is a joint internal security operational platform comprising officers drawn from the Army, Navy, Air force, Police and the Department of State Security, adding that government on its part is adding the Amotekun, So-Safe and other recognized security outfits recognized by the State laws in the fight against crime, criminals and criminality in Ogun State.

Politics / Ogun APC In Disarray Over Letter Suspending Impeached Deputy Speakers Mum by OmoOgunOriginal(f): 6:00am On Jan 21, 2022
Governor Dapo Abiodun’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently in disarray over a letter announcing the suspension of Adetola Kadiri, mother of the impeached Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludare Kadiri from the party, DAILY POST reports.

A letter dated January 14 had surfaced online, purportedly suspending Mrs Kadiri, Sulaimon Bude and the incumbent Councillor.

DAILY POST learnt that the four were separately served their suspension letters through the post office in Ijebu-Ode on Tuesday.

The letter was signed by Sesan Araba and Yetunde Adebayo, who presented themselves as the Chairman and Secretary of Ward 9, Ijebu North Local Government respectively.

A copy of the letter seen by our correspondent accused the politicians of alleged anti-party activities.

However, it seems the suspension letters have thrown the party into crisis as leaders make concerted efforts to placate Dare’s mother, who is also accusing the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, as being behind the said suspension.

Mrs Kadiri, speaking with newsmen, described the letter as a slap on her face, saying Gov Abiodun and the SSG had called her to declare that they knew nothing about the suspension letter.

“To my surprise, on Tuesday, someone called me that I have a letter from the post office. After reading the letter, I called the SSG, he denied knowing anything about it. He told me to scan the letter and send to him, I did. I sent the letter to the governor, party chairman, my son and Oladunjoye.

“In the evening, the SSG called to beg me. He said his people in Ward 9 denied knowing about the letter. He called me again this (Wednesday) morning. He explained that the governor had ordered that the letter be reversed. I said it cannot be reversed anymore as it has already gone viral.

“I told him that with my position in the party, this is a big slap on me, I’ve been in politics more than 50 years. The SSG said he would send the party chairman to my house, I said I would disgrace him. He said he would visit me, I told him not to come to my house,” she stated.

In his words, Bude declared himself as the duly elected Chairman, saying Araba is an impostor with no power to suspend anyone from the APC.

Bude said, “it was the SSG who formed another faction with one Sesan Araba as his own Chairman.”

He explained that they had once gone to Gov Abiodun’s office to stage a protest about the group being paraded by the SSG.

“After the local government congress, I was told that a new set of people were sworn in as the Chairman of Ward 9 in Abeokuta. I and my people went to Abeokuta, three commissioners addressed us there, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner for Youths.

“The Governor wasn’t around on that day. We explained everything to them. We were attended to and even the governor sent us N500,00 that day, he said when he comes back he will call us but he hasn’t called since then.

“On the 27th of Dec 2021, the local government Chairman invited us, four persons each from the two sides. We went there but they didn’t come. We talked to the Chairman, he also knows that the other side are a minority. We told the chairman that anything meant for Ward 9 shouldn’t be divided into two. The chairman pleaded with us that they should take 30% while we take 70%.

“Suddenly, I got a call for a letter from Ijebu-Ode post office, They brought the letter to me and I discovered that one Sesan Araba said he suspended me from the party. Who is he? Where did he hold his congress? He doesn’t possess the power to suspend anybody.

“I don’t know anybody called Sesan Araba and he didn’t emerge from any congress. He doesn’t even have the power or audacity to impeach me. He is only doing this because he has the SSG behind him.

“I don’t want these people to destroy the party because that’s what Sesan Araba wants to do. I don’t pray that APC Ward 9 should scatter because it took a lot of hard work to build it. So he should stop the game he’s playing or else, anything can happen. We are not ready to take the party to court because it’s not easy to gather people together. This Sesan Araba of a person doesn’t live in Ago Iwoye, I heard he stays in Ijebu Ode. How will he know how to bring people into the party?” Bude said.

But speaking with DAILY POST, The acclaimed Chairman, Araba, confirmed signing the letter, saying, however, that he was not the one who wrote it.

“I didn’t write the letter. It was the Ward that wrote it. I signed it because I am the Chairman of that Ward. The Ward wrote the letter and gave it to me."

Also, Araba’s Secretary, Yetunde Adebayo, confirmed signing the letter but denied writing it.

“I am the Secretary, the Ward told me to sign and I did. As the Secretary, I only signed, I didn’t write the letter."

She explained that Ward members compelled them to sign the letters, having accused them of plans to betray them.

“They said all their entitlements were eluding them, saying we are like ‘Figure heads’. We didn’t write the letter, we only signed,” Adebayo declared.

Meanwhile, Gbenga Nuberu, who identified himself as the Assistant State Secretary of the APC, said the issue is being attended to by leaders of the party.

The SSG, Talabi did not reply to messages sent to him.

Celebrities / Abeokuta Based Woman Offers To Replace Queen Silekunola As Ooni’s New Wife by OmoOgunOriginal(f): 10:36am On Dec 24, 2021
An Abeokuta based woman identified Lola Babs has offered herself to replace the immediate past Queen Silekunola Ogunwusi, who on Thursday announced end of her three year old marriage with Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi

Penpushing reports that, the woman made this known while contributing to a live programme on Fresh F.M station in Abeokuta, on Friday in the course of discussions centred on the controversial divorce announcement on social media.

The woman who put a telephone call to the station, to contribute to the discussion, did not hide her interest to become the next queen for the traditional ruler, and appealed to anchor of the programme and station management to help relay her message to the monarch

‘I am available to be the next Olori for the Ooni of Ife, I am not joking, am available. I would want you to help me pass my message to Kabiyesi, and I meant it. I am resident in Abeokuta. He should come and take wife from Ogun state’, the woman emphasised

Penpushing reports that Queen Silekunola Ogunwusi through her instagram handle announced dissolution of her 3-year old marriage with the first class traditional ruler, stressing that henceforth she should not be referred to as wife of Ooni of Ife or as queen of Ife, but as the queen of the people.

‘Today I announce the beginning of a new dawn and the close of a chapter. Today, I am a mother to God’s unique gift. I am no longer a slave to my thoughts of perfection. I, at this moment, announce that I shall no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife but as the Queen of the people and mother of my adorable Prince.”

“The marriage was not an arranged one, as many have misconstrued. I never knew the prophetess said to have introduced me to him. Instead, he introduced her to me after I agreed to marry him. I was only being polite out of respect for him. I have never been pregnant all my life before Tadenikawo; my son is my first ever pregnancy with medical reports to back it up’, she wrote

Penpushing further reports that, it is recalled that, the palace in reaction has declared not aware of the divorce of the queen as made public on Thursday, which went viral on social media, adding that, the story also caught the royal father unaware.

The Palace Media Officer, Moses Olafare when contacted exclusively by Penpushing media over the controversial issues, said the ugly development caught the Kabiyesi and his Chiefs unaware, adding that, nobody has premonition of the action.

‘Just like everybody saw it, we saw it on social media this morning. As at last night, before we went to bed, there was no indications that suggest that something like that will happened. Nobody has premonition of it’, Olafare emphasised.

Penpushing further reports that, the palace stated that, there was no issue that warrant such action from the Queen, adding that the palace was not in the know of the said separation, and that if such would happened the chiefs would have being notified

‘And as a palace I want to say that we are not aware of such separation. If there is to be a separation, the chiefs would have been notified. Everybody, including Kabiyesi saw it on social media, as the general public saw it’, Olafare said

‘Marriage is a private affairs, whatever the decision that will be taken, will be mutual,so in this case, it is on social media, that Olori said, she is longer in the marriage. The palace is not aware of such seperation’, he emphasised

Penpushing also reports that, Olafare explained that, as at Wednesday evening, the royal father was making arrangements for special Christmas gifts for his wife, and was happily preparing for the package’, he added

‘By this time yesterday, Kabiyesi was making arrangements for a big Christmas package for his wife. Kabiyesi was happily preparing Christmas package’, the palace recalled

Penpushing reports that, in a related development, a palace source and notable indigene of ancient town of Ile -Ife, Sola Lawal has faulted divorce claim of Olori Silekunola Ogunwusi against the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, explaining that contrary to position of the immediate past queen, it was the gods who rejected her for reasons known to them alone.

The known associate of the monarch made this known exclusively to Penpushing media while responding as update to the controversial development, explaining that, assumption of office of an Ooni is a culmination of a complex web of traditional cleansing and atonement, adding that this is what is commonly referred to as purification of an intending queen

Penpushing reports that Lawal, going memory lane, explained that the Ogunwusi experience was not new in history of the ancient palace, adding that similar occurrence was recorded during the reign of Oba Olubuse, but did not attract public attention because there was no social media then, and there were so many queens

“Your view in this matter only reflects your limited understanding of the ancient palace of Oduduwa and anyone chanced to dwell in it particularly spouse of a reigning Oonirisa. Please permit me to explain a little. As we all know, assumption of office of an Ooni is a culmination of a complex web of traditional cleansing and atonement”, Lawal explained

“This is what is commonly referred to as ritual purification of an intending Ooni. What most people do not know however is that a part of the puritanistic process also involves the spouse of the Ooni, but in the case of an Olori, this process rather than focusing cleansing is concerned with deep traditional appraisal to determine suitability or otherwise of an Olori as co-occupant of the palace”, he added

“For an Olori the process is never ending. Therefore an Olori’s tenancy in the palace, so to say , remains at the behest of the gods and their approval of such. Flowing naturally from this is the fact that at the transition of an Ooni every widowing Olori is by tradition an inheritance of new Ooni. Don’t forget that willed Oloris are already pure”,Lawal stated

“Now the reason, the exit of Oloris from the palace in the case of Ogunwusi’s Ooniship is accompanied with so much hoopla is because of his preference for monogamy. In a harem of wives, when the gods eject one it remains a drop in the ocean that no one notices. Yes and any Olori the gods find unsuitable at any point although an untrained eye won’t see it”, he explained.

‘My brother , we indeed had three such incidents that I know of clearly during the time of Olubuse. The news were not all over the place, only because there were so many Oloris in the palace. At the last count I know of eight apart from Aunty Mori who along with Ladun, (Orangun’s daughter) and the 24 year old princess from Akure, Ooni Olubuse married barely four years to his departure.

Penpushing also reports that Lawal posited that no Ooni of Ife is ever known to be parading a missionary christian leader, emphasising that Silekunola was ejected by the gods for reason best known to them, stressing that the resident gods in the Oduduwa prime abode determines who is qualified to live in the palace.

“No Ooni is ever known to parade a wife like a missionary Christian leader. I just heard from Lambua that his dad left 17 Oloris in the palace when he passed. Lambua, 80, is Aderemi’s third son. Okanle Igba Irunmoles controls who dwells and gets ejected from Oduduwa prime abode. Quote me along this line”, Lawal declared

There is a third option: A combination of the two factors.

Ladies are not looking at guys who have not financially made it or seemingly on the assured track to making it. Thus many women in their 20s say no to many guys still hustling (not talking of the guys with terrible behaviours and habits like Meth addicts). Sensible guys also have learnt and so they have stopped approaching women till they make it.

Caught between the mountain and the deep blue sea. I have many female friends in their 30s that don't even have boyfriends. Na married men wey just wan chop clean mouth dey follow them up and down

Politics / Ake Palace Mayhem: Amosun And His Aides Accussed Of Causing Crisis by OmoOgunOriginal(f): 3:55pm On Oct 21, 2021
Former governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and one of his aides have been fingered in the crisis that occurred at the palace of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo during a factional congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state on Saturday October 16.

Security sources within the state revealed that the immediate past governor and his henchman, one Honourable Mikky Kazeem, a former member of the House of Representatives is currently being investigated by the police over the ugly incident.

The police had on Monday paraded about six suspected thugs alleged to be loyalists of the former governor.

The suspected hoodlums were said to have confessed to the Police that Hon. Mikky Kazeem, a former SSA to Amosun sponsored them and gave them the guns and other ammunition found on them.

While parading the suspects:
Ibrahim Amoje, Yusuf Afeez, Olaide Sodiq, Adewale Ogundele, Femi Oke and Balogun Olawale Dhikrullai, the police had said that a British Beretta pistol and a locally made gun were found on them.

The mayhem was said to have left a number of people injured.

Sources revealed that the attack in Ake Palace was arranged by the loyalists of former governor Amosun to appear as if it was from the camp of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the state.

“The strategy has failed. Why would Governor Abiodun send hoodlums to attack a congress that was not given recognition. The Governor didn’t need that as it was known to all that the state exco from the Governor would be recognised.

“But the police are investigating the matter and we will all know the culprits after they have concluded their investigations which will come in a few days.

“Amosun is a desperate man, who just wanted to foment trouble, when he knows that he has lost out completely in the scheme of things as far as the APC is concerned in Ogun State,” said a source close to the former Governor.

When contacted on the telephone, the PPRO of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi said that the police were still investigating the matter and that the arrested suspects have been making useful information and that the police would make their findings known to members of the public at the appropriate time.

“We are still investigating the case and the suspects arrested have been giving useful information. At the appropriate time we will make our investigations known to members of the public.”,Oyeyemi stated.

However, Hon. Mikky Kazeem did not pick calls made to his telephone lines to state his own side of the story over the allegations made against him. We even heard from sources close to him that he has gone underground.

It will be recalled that while the Ogun State chapter of the party held it’s Congress in MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, a faction of the party, loyal to Amosun, held a parallel congress at the Palace of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo in Abeokuta.

We were informed that this was contrary to the directives of the national caucus of the APC, which gave recognition to only the executives of the party across the states that are loyal to the incumbent Governors or the highest political office holders in the states that are not being ruled by the party.

It was gathered that with this, the likes of Senator Ibikunle Amosun have lost out in the power tussle in their states.

The APC faction loyal to Governor Dapo Abiodun has since been given recognition by the national caucus of the party as the incumbent Governor.

The faction loyal to Senator Amosun had elected Chief Derin Adebiyi as the chairman.

But Chief Yemi Sanusi emerged as the Chairman of the faction supported by the incumbent Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

It will however be recalled that there was tension at the palace of the Alake of Egbaland, on Saturday October 16, when hoodlums stormed the venue of the state congress of the APC faction loyal to Amosun.

Gunmen broke into the venue, which was being used by the faction, shortly before the exercise commenced.

Hundreds of persons, including security operatives, scampered for safety amid the pandemonium.

The crowd of party supporters later threw stones at the hoodlums, who later fled the scene.

Apparently aggrieved that the security agents, including Police, NSCDC operatives, did not resist the hoodlums, the APC members, mostly youths, charged towards the security men and chased them away.

However, the security personnel, who ran momentarily, turned against the aggrieved youths, shooting into the air to resist further attacks.

The matter, we gathered, has further “shown that former governor Amosun is an enemy of the Ogun State APC despite the fact that he won a seat to the senate in 2019 through the party.”

Politics / Abiodun, Amosun Govts Clash Over Ogun Nursing Schools by OmoOgunOriginal(f): 2:14pm On Oct 21, 2021
The administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun and that of his predecessor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun have exchanged words over the accreditation of the nursing schools and midwifery in Ogun State, DAILY POST reports.

On Wednesday, the Abiodun government had claimed that it, for the first time in 45 years, secured full accreditation for the nursing schools and midwifery in Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode and Ilaro, from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

However, the immediate past administration described the claim as “lies”, saying the accreditation was done in 2017.

The incumbent Commissioner for Health, Tomi Coker, had said the full accreditation was “the first of its kind in the 45 years history of the State”, saying it “came with an upgrade of the schools of Nursing and Midwifery to Collegiate.”

Addressing a press conference in Abeokuta, Coker, said the Abiodun government committed N125 million to renovate and provide modern training facilities in the nursing schools to fulfill the requirements of NMCN.

She pointed out that the upgrade of the schools to Collegiate had resulted in the change of its name to Ogun State Schools of Nursing Sciences, thereby increasing the quota admission of students by 60%.

“The last accreditation team was in Ogun State in 2017 wherein we got provisional accreditation, which had been the trend in the history of our Schools of Nursing and Midwifery.

“The two-year expiration for all the schools was in 2019. The Covid-19 pandemic, however, made it impossible for the NMCN accreditation exercise in 2020. Hence, the exercise took place in July 2021,” Coker asserted.

But, in a swift reaction, the immediate past Commissioner for Health, Babatunde Ipaye debunked his successor’s claims in a statement he titled, ‘Ogun State School of Nursing Accreditation – The lies of Dapo Abiodun’s administration on 45 years and full accreditation‘.

Ipaye told Coker that, “to utter such an unverified statement is to abridge the labour of our leaders past.”

He said: “On the 10th July 2017, the delegations of the Nursing Council of Nigeria visited all the five schools (3 Nursing and 2 Midwifery) in Ogun State. The five schools were given accreditations and the numbers of students approved for admission doubled.

“Prior to this, the three schools had been shut down and were under lock and therefore had not trained nurses for years.

“After the visitation, the accreditation team described the school of Midwifery Abeokuta as the best and most equipped in Nigeria.

“The bill to convert the schools to colleges of Nursing was passed by the 7th Assembly of Ogun State under Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the Bill was signed into law in 2017 prior to the accreditation visit by the Nursing Council.

“The Hon. Commissioner that declared arrogantly that the schools had existed for 45 years without full accreditation should make public the bill that converts these schools to degree awarding institutions.

“She should also tell the public how she got access to Mr. Ndagi of the Nursing Council who only allowed her leverage on the strength of the relationship already built with the Ibikunle Amosun administration.

“The schools of Nursing Idi Aba and Ijebu Ode were two of the best in South West Nigeria from the second Republic of the Chief Bisi Onanbanjo through to the administration of Chief. Segun Osoba, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Senator Ibikunle Amosun. To utter such an unverified statement is to abridge the labour of our leaders past.

“I am told the old students association has a response to this shocking statement.”

Health / Ogun Nursing Schools, Midwifery, Get First Full Accreditation In 45years by OmoOgunOriginal(f): 6:02pm On Oct 20, 2021
The Ogun State Government has announced that its Schools of Nursing and Midwifery spread across Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode and Ilaro have been given full accreditation status by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria ( NMCN).

The feat which is the first of its kind in the 45 years history of the state came with an upgrade of the schools of Nursing and Midwifery to Collegiate.

Addressing a press conference in Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, said that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government had from its first day in office conceived the vision of making health attractive to all, noting that the priority of the present administration was to acquire full accreditation for all schools of Nursing and Midwifery across the state.

Coker said that commitment of the government informed the release of over N125 million (One hundred and twenty-five million naira) for comprehensive renovation and provision of modern training facilities in the schools of Nursing and Midwifery so as to fulfill the requirements of NMCN.

She said that the passionate pursuit of the state has yielded a number of positive outcomes including the full accreditation to ALL Schools of Nursing and Midwifery for the first time in the 45 years history of the State, pointing out that the upgrade of the schools to Collegiate had resulted in the change of the its name to Ogun State Schools of Nursing Sciences thereby increasing the quota admission of students by 60%.

According to her, there are ongoing efforts with the Ministry of Education to conclude the approval of the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) which will enable the college to award Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma (OND/HND) academic certificates to students.

Hence, the exercise took place in July 2021.

” I am therefore delighted to inform you that the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has given full accreditation to ALL Schools of Nursing and Midwifery for the first time in the 45 years history of Ogun State.

“These diplomas will also come with professional certificates of Registered Nursing(RN), Registered Midwifery (RM) or Registered Public Health Nursing (RPHN).

“It is interesting to let you know that the NMCN also increased the quota of student admission by 60% from 220 to 350.

” Under the watch of the present administration, the pass rate in the final qualifying examinations in March 2020, May 2020, September 2020, November, 2020 and May 2021 was 100%. This is as a result of recent changes in our admission process where we have ensured that admission into the schools is strictly on merit without compromise on excellence,” the Commissioner said.

Coker further hinted that the government has ensured that students in health institutions are provided with conducive facilities and knowledgeable tutors coupled with devotion to human capital development and provision of quality and affordable healthcare services to residents.
