The Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has declared it would be an injustice for Nigerians if he fail to contest the 2023 Presidential election in view of his vast experience in the last seven years in office. Penpushing reports that, Osinbajo made this known on Monday during his visit the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu in his office in Akure, the state capital, stressing that it is a special privilege to serve. “I think It will be a betrayal to our country, to our nation, this is a nation that many people died for, people died for this country, if I, with all that has been given to me by the grace of God, retire quietly either to Lagos or Ikenne and go and be writing my memoirs. “It will be a great injustice to our country, that is why I throw my hat in the ring and ensure I make the best case for the position of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Osinbajo said. “It is such a special privilege to be called to serve, it is a very special privilege to serve either as exco, house of assembly, even as NWC member. I am sure that everybody knows that I have formally declared my intention to run as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’, he stated. “I did so on Monday, April 11th, 2022 and I did so because, first of all there is nobody that can be anything God does not decide that he would be, only God can make a person president, vice president, governor, anything whatsoever’, Osinbajo added. “So, I believe the hand of God must be on anything we are doing, but I declared my intention based on first, the fact that I have served, again by the sheer grace of God, I have served for seven years and some months’, he said. “President Muhammadu Buhari, just out of his open-mindedness and his own generosity ensured that I was given very serious responsibilities as vice president and I also acted as president’, Osinbajo added. ” In those capacities, I got to know so many things that most people will never come across, even people in government will never come across and I gained a lot of experience on that account’, he said. “Many times the President, when he was away, said pointedly to me that look, I don’t want to feter your discretion in any way, as acting president, you are president, just make sure you are fair and just, don’t refer anything to me, don’t ask me any questions, just do whatever you need to do’, Osinbajo stated. Penpushing also reports that, the vice president commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s open-mindedness in delegating to him serious tasks that had aided his experience, noting that it was God that put people in power, emphasizing that it would be a betrayal of his country for him to retire with all his exposure in government. https://penpushing.com.ng/it-will-be-disservice-to-nigerians-if-i-fail-to-contest-presidency-in-2023-says-osinbajo/

Truthisunique2:FG did that one time. What did he do? He jumped bail and was incommunicado for months. Then his people spread all sort of lies that he was on a gunboat as a prisoner or was killed. He came back and orchestrated the burning of Lagos which made Lagos declare curfew during End SARS (oh, you forgot that they burnt Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA on the morning of October 20, 2020? They started this in Lagos and South East cheered). He called for the killing of Yorubas and even Igbos he named saboteurs. So they should release him so he can continue organising his terrorists? |
NigerianAngelo:This is pure bollocks. Wasn't the Donbass region forcefully Russianised by Katherine the Great who criminalised Ukrainian language, making Russia the only language by law and punishment, and Stalin who killed millions of ethnic Tartars? Read a history book or Google. Russia took over a part of a country with guns and bombs and conducted a referendum with guns pointed at people and you think that is a free and fair referendum? Must be a joke. Which part of Nigeria show we give Benin Republic or Cameroon if they ask for it with guns pointed at us? Your hometown? Ukrainians killing Russians is kosher. Ukrainians didn't invade Russians to kill them in their homes. Russia is behaving like killer herdsmen in Nigeria and you want them to be welcomed with smiles ![]() |
OlawaleOToks:Olawale, please stop making a fool of yourself sir. I'm not a writer. I have never opened Upwork or any freelancing site in my life. I should get out? You should get yourself checked on why you are assuming things about strangers on Internet and using such to insult people |

An Ogun state magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta on Friday, sentenced one Oyedele Seunfunmi, a member of staff at the state governor office to four years and six months jail term for breaking into the office of the Chief of Staff, Shuaib Salisu. PLATFORMTIMES gathered that the accused committed the offence on the 29th of October, 2021 when he was caught in a CCTV as he slipped into the office of the CoS to steal some A4 papers. During the trial, PLATFORMTIMES learnt that the accused hid inside the toilet in the office to escape being caught at the time but failed. PLATFORMTIMES further gathered that when on a search warrant, the Police visited the residence of the accused at Amalaso, Abeokuta, found some letterheaded papers of the former Ogun Chief of Staff in his possession. After hours of hearing, the chief magistrate, I.O Abudu recalled that the accused, who said he was guilty of the charges against him, was not in a good health during the last trial as he stumbled during proceedings. The chief magistrate also viewed the 6-minute footage as an evidence before passing her judgment. Plead by the defence counsel before the magistrate to tamper justice with mercy prove abortive as the chief magistrate sentenced the man to four years and six months imprisonment. https://platformtimes.com.ng/2022/03/05/court-jails-man-for-breaking-into-abioduns-chief-of-staffs-office/ |

rippa:Why are you always lying? If Ikpeazu, Ortom and Yahaya Bello have achieved what Dapo Abiodun has done COMBINED in the last eight years, people won't be on their case as they are now. Because we are Ogun State, our standards are high. That we are yabbing him is for him to do more. Here are pictures of some of the things he's done.

Abandoned by his country, Nigeria’s first Olympics medalist, Maiyegun, who celebrates his 82nd birthday today (FEB 22) finds solace in Fumilayo (Ruldofine) who has been his rock of ages Elsewhere pioneers and trailblazers are celebrated like Kings and Queens but in Nigeria, they are more often treated like poor distance cousins. Nojeem Maiyegun, the first Nigerian to win an Olympics medal is one of the many trailblazers that Nigeria treats with contempt. Maiyegun who won Nigeria’s first Olympic medal at Tokyo’64 games, over a decade after we joined the modern Olympics Family in Helsinki’52 Games, has been consigned into the dustbin of history by our rulers. 234sportsng.com Central Europe Special Correspondents Olubunmi Akande and Charles Ambrose met Maiyegun in Vienna, Austria January 4, 2022. As he marks his 82nd birthday today, we celebrate the living legend in our own little way, we hope our leaders will remember him and give him the deserved honour and recognition. Introduction When you are down and out, the only way out is God’s intervention and when God intervenes it translates into eternal joy and peace. This is the Nojeem Maiyegun, the first Nigeria to win an Olympic medal. Divine intervention came the day he met Ruldofine an Austrian lady he later married. When they met, many ladies would not consider Maiyegun a suitor, much less think of marrying. Then, he was blind and doing menial jobs to eke out a living but even at his lowest level, Ruldofine not only fell in love with him but became his everything from the day they met. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tisrt2__UAM Maiyegun speaks exclusively to 234sports correspondents in Vienna, Austria Maiyegun changed her name to Funmilayo (Which literally means God gives me joy). How prophetic the name turned out to be because as he turned 82 years old today, life without Funmilayo would probably have been harsh. Blind and suffering from dementia (a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental process caused by brain disease or injury and marked by memory disorders, personality changes and impaired reasoning). When we met Maiyegun at his government flat on a bitterly cold evening in January 2022, he was all smiles, his white teeth shining like crystal. Dressed in Yoruba attire: ‘This your welcome smile is infectious sir” we said, “It’s more than a welcome smile my children. I have the ability to perceive young men when they are around me and I smile, their youthfulness, this makes me happy. You people, the younger ones, are the strength of the world, you are the future” We recalled an encounter with him on the streets of Vienna about eight years ago. It was summer, he was wearing Yoruba Dashiki, when we greeted him ‘Eka san Baba’, and it was the same infectious smile accompanied with prayers. Still agile, strong, looking fresh, neatly dressed and ever ready to talk but his challenges are his sight and memory but thank God for Funmilayo who is today Maiyegun’s sight and memory. His memory fluctuates, for example when we asked about Muhammad Ali he quickly responded, “Yes, I know Mohammed Ali, he was great. “We have met in person and taken pictures together but we never fought each other in the ring.” But he has never heard of Anthony Joshua, the former world boxing champion. https://234sportsng.com/uploads/images/2022/02/image_750x_621513ad123c5.jpg When we asked him where he was born he could hardly remember but thank God for Funmilayo, Maiyegun’s walking encyclopedia, “He was born in Lagos but his parents hailed from Abeokuta” Maiyegun could not also remember the name of his mother and his plan for his birthday. Again, it was Funmilayo to the rescue. She told us his mother’s name is Falilat and that his birthday today will be quiet. Over the years, Maiyegun must have told Funmilayo the story of his life over and over again and being a lady with retentive memory she recalled all the details effortlessly. Funmilayo knows all the streets in Lagos Island where Maiyegun used to play as a child and as an adult. She remembered events and dates without checking a diary. In fact, calling her Maiyegun’s memory bank will not be inappropriate. Longing not to be forgotten but long forgotten For Funmilayo, the only thing that Maiyegun wants from Nigeria is not to be forgotten, that the country should but do something that will etch his name in stone in the hearts of the unborn generation. But Nigeria has long forgotten him, in fact a director in the National Sports Commission (NSC) told a public gathering that he was dead. At the Eko 2012 National Sports festival the director referred to him late Maiyegun while presenting the champions’ trophy to Team Delta, winners of the 18th National Sports Festival in Lagos , said the trophy was “named after late Nojim Maiyegun”, causing many to wonder when the boxing legend died. https://234sportsng.com/uploads/images/2022/02/image_750x_62150545daca2.jpg In an earlier interview, Maiyegun responded swiftly, “I am not dead as some people think. I’m still living in Austria but as an old man, I take things easy. I cannot afford to travel regularly between Austria and Nigeria because of my age. Besides, I will need assistance in Nigeria because I’m blind. I’ll need a trustworthy person to accompany me all the time. It will be like starting from scratch if I return home, but I really want to come back. I hope the government can be of help in this regard,” Early childhood and foray into boxing Maiyegun, according to Funmilayo, was born in the Bamgbose area of Lagos Island. He started boxing at 16. He had gone to fetch water at a public tap in Bamgbose. There was a boy who bullied other kids whenever he got to the public tap; the boy beat him thoroughly that was why he started learning boxing at Bonny Ade Boxing Gym for six months until he was able to fight the boy. https://234sportsng.com/uploads/images/2022/02/image_750x_621505127061a.jpg His parents were against his foray into boxing while his Uncle named Suarju wanted to learn carpentry because according to him boxing and crime go hand in hand and most boxers are jagunda. But the moment he started winning amateur fights, his parents backed down and started supporting him. With his parents backing, the sky became the limit for Maiyegun. His first international fight was against Ghana’s Joe Blackey in Accra in 1960, which he won. He then made the Nigeria team to the Tokyo ’64 Olympic Games where he won Nigeria’s first medal in the Olympics, a bronze medal, in boxing. At the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Jamaica, he won another bronze medal also in boxing. Maiyegun, nicknamed Omo Oloja by boxing buffs moved to Austria after turning pro but his dream of winning a world title was cut short by blindness. https://234sportsng.com/uploads/images/2022/02/image_750x_621513902422e.jpg He had to struggle to eke out a living after losing his sight. In an earlier interview, Maiyegun said, “I’m not sure what could have caused the blindness but doctors thought it could have been from punches on the head. It started partially, and at one point, I had to fight a world championship title bout with the sight problem. I lost the fight on the decision but it is on record that I am the first blind boxer to fight for a title. I could see with one eye then.” Maiyegun also loves climbing mountains. He is the first completely blind man in Austria to climb a mountain 1,7meters high and jump with a parachute. Awards and recognition. Apart from the award from Pastor Chris Okotie, Household of God Church at the annual Karis Awards Ceremony, Maiyegun has not got the deserved awards for winning the nation’s first Olympic Games medal and a bronze medal two years later at the Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica. Said Maiyegun in an earlier interview “I don’t recall getting anything special as a reward when I won the medal at the Olympics but former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida gave me an award in 1989. The award was eventually retrieved by the Sports Ministry the following year for no reason at all. I was thinking the award would belong to me forever but they took it back.” https://234sportsng.com/uploads/images/2022/02/image_750x_6215137c63009.jpg After spending quality time with the couple we decided to leave but the words of Funmilayo kept resonating in our minds. What will cost Nigeria to give Maiyegun a national honour and name an edifice after him? Which sane society will dump a trailblazer in another part of the world forget when he should be celebrated daily and his story used to inspire the youth. https://234sportsng.com/uploads/images/2022/02/image_750x_621504e3ca35e.jpg We always chorus that the labour of our heroes will not be in vain, why don’t we put it into practice? Will Nigeria wait for Maiyegun to die before we start sending a government delegation to his family and give him a ‘befitting burial’. Why not give him a ‘befitting living instead of befitting burial’. So many questions are beyond us. We only hope and pray that the power that be will read this and act on it. https://234sportsng.com/special-report-abandoned-national-hero-mayegun-finds-solace-in-austrian-wife-fumilayo

What you lack is discipline. That's the baseline issue for all these things you've written. What do you need to be more disciplined, to right all these wrongs, amend your mistakes and leave a better life going forward? Determination. That's all. If you decide and determine that you will become more disciplined or die trying, your problems will be solved |

DrGoodman:You see this level of propaganda and lies by IPOB in real time. Yet you still believe the lies that Obafemi Awolowo, a civilian ordered military troops to starve Igbo kids during the civil war. When for months, food was being taken from Igbo Civilians and given to the Biafra officers and their families. When the people who worked with China Achebe admitted that they deliberately published pictures from their own starvation of their people to Europe and America to whip up sentiments. IPOB boys online are doing what Chinua Achebe and Co did. It's just sad that they continue to fool supposedly smart people that Obafemi Awolowo, a bloody civilian, ordered a blockade |

… Arrests 7 for persons The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, weekend in Lagos intercepted large quantities of dangerous animal hides and skins popularly known as Ponmo even as it arrested seven persons involved in the importation of the deadly product. The Director General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye however warned the general public, particularly consumers of Ponmo against the activities of some unscrupulous businessmen and traders who are selling industrial animal hides as food articles. Adeyeye, in a press statement on Sunday, disclosed that the NAFDAC Investigation and Enforcement officials swiftly carried out intelligence gathering around certain locations where the alleged products were being warehoused and sold. She said the development was in response to several complaints received from the public, pertaining to alleged sale and distribution of imported hides and skins meant for use in leather industries and which had already been processed with industrial chemicals. “These hides and skins are then sold to unsuspecting public as consumable animal skin products, otherwise called Ponmo. “Monitoring was also extended to some buyers who patronise the sellers and custodians of the warehouse, she said, adding that preliminary investigation revealed that some of the hides and skins were imported illegally and sometimes diverted to some merchants of death who re-process the hides and skins and further sell them as consumable Ponmo to the public. To this end, she said the Agency recently conducted investigative raids upon some identified locations in Lagos State where market women and men were found clustered for purchase of leftovers from the warehouses. She disclosed that large quantities (120 tons) of the products were intercepted at six different locations, stressing that seven suspects who were alleged to be involved in the acts are currently under investigation. Adeyeye further explained that samples of the products have been sent to the laboratory for testing so as to ascertain the products quality and unwholesomeness. According to her, the intervention would help the Agency deal with the interaction and the dangers associated with the consumption of these products. The street value of the product currently intercepted is estimated to be around N25.330m only. “ Adeyeye however, alerted the general public on the existence of these merchants of death and their nefarious activities, warning Nigerians to exercise caution when buying animal hides, popularly known as Ponmo She further advised consumers and retailers of Ponmo not to patronise importers of hides and skins for consumable animal skins,. She further warned that the hides, are pre-treated with industrial chemicals which are not of food grade and will be toxic and injurious to human health, stressing that health hazards inherent in the consumption of such animal hides include risk of Liver, Kidney and Heart damage, increased risk of Aplastic anemia, Central nervous system toxicity, Cancer, amongst several others. “The general public is hereby encouraged to be very vigilant and exercise discretion when purchasing animal hides PONMO and indeed other food items. NAFDAC is fully alive to her responsibilities of assuring the safety, wholesomeness, and quality of processed foods offered for sale to the public.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/02/nafdac-impounds-120-tons-of-unwholesome-imported-ponmo/?s=09

Governor Dapo Abiodun’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently in disarray over a letter announcing the suspension of Adetola Kadiri, mother of the impeached Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludare Kadiri from the party, DAILY POST reports. A letter dated January 14 had surfaced online, purportedly suspending Mrs Kadiri, Sulaimon Bude and the incumbent Councillor. DAILY POST learnt that the four were separately served their suspension letters through the post office in Ijebu-Ode on Tuesday. The letter was signed by Sesan Araba and Yetunde Adebayo, who presented themselves as the Chairman and Secretary of Ward 9, Ijebu North Local Government respectively. A copy of the letter seen by our correspondent accused the politicians of alleged anti-party activities. However, it seems the suspension letters have thrown the party into crisis as leaders make concerted efforts to placate Dare’s mother, who is also accusing the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, as being behind the said suspension. Mrs Kadiri, speaking with newsmen, described the letter as a slap on her face, saying Gov Abiodun and the SSG had called her to declare that they knew nothing about the suspension letter. “To my surprise, on Tuesday, someone called me that I have a letter from the post office. After reading the letter, I called the SSG, he denied knowing anything about it. He told me to scan the letter and send to him, I did. I sent the letter to the governor, party chairman, my son and Oladunjoye. “In the evening, the SSG called to beg me. He said his people in Ward 9 denied knowing about the letter. He called me again this (Wednesday) morning. He explained that the governor had ordered that the letter be reversed. I said it cannot be reversed anymore as it has already gone viral. “I told him that with my position in the party, this is a big slap on me, I’ve been in politics more than 50 years. The SSG said he would send the party chairman to my house, I said I would disgrace him. He said he would visit me, I told him not to come to my house,” she stated. In his words, Bude declared himself as the duly elected Chairman, saying Araba is an impostor with no power to suspend anyone from the APC. Bude said, “it was the SSG who formed another faction with one Sesan Araba as his own Chairman.” He explained that they had once gone to Gov Abiodun’s office to stage a protest about the group being paraded by the SSG. “After the local government congress, I was told that a new set of people were sworn in as the Chairman of Ward 9 in Abeokuta. I and my people went to Abeokuta, three commissioners addressed us there, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner for Youths. “The Governor wasn’t around on that day. We explained everything to them. We were attended to and even the governor sent us N500,00 that day, he said when he comes back he will call us but he hasn’t called since then. “On the 27th of Dec 2021, the local government Chairman invited us, four persons each from the two sides. We went there but they didn’t come. We talked to the Chairman, he also knows that the other side are a minority. We told the chairman that anything meant for Ward 9 shouldn’t be divided into two. The chairman pleaded with us that they should take 30% while we take 70%. “Suddenly, I got a call for a letter from Ijebu-Ode post office, They brought the letter to me and I discovered that one Sesan Araba said he suspended me from the party. Who is he? Where did he hold his congress? He doesn’t possess the power to suspend anybody. “I don’t know anybody called Sesan Araba and he didn’t emerge from any congress. He doesn’t even have the power or audacity to impeach me. He is only doing this because he has the SSG behind him. “I don’t want these people to destroy the party because that’s what Sesan Araba wants to do. I don’t pray that APC Ward 9 should scatter because it took a lot of hard work to build it. So he should stop the game he’s playing or else, anything can happen. We are not ready to take the party to court because it’s not easy to gather people together. This Sesan Araba of a person doesn’t live in Ago Iwoye, I heard he stays in Ijebu Ode. How will he know how to bring people into the party?” Bude said. But speaking with DAILY POST, The acclaimed Chairman, Araba, confirmed signing the letter, saying, however, that he was not the one who wrote it. “I didn’t write the letter. It was the Ward that wrote it. I signed it because I am the Chairman of that Ward. The Ward wrote the letter and gave it to me." Also, Araba’s Secretary, Yetunde Adebayo, confirmed signing the letter but denied writing it. “I am the Secretary, the Ward told me to sign and I did. As the Secretary, I only signed, I didn’t write the letter." She explained that Ward members compelled them to sign the letters, having accused them of plans to betray them. “They said all their entitlements were eluding them, saying we are like ‘Figure heads’. We didn’t write the letter, we only signed,” Adebayo declared. Meanwhile, Gbenga Nuberu, who identified himself as the Assistant State Secretary of the APC, said the issue is being attended to by leaders of the party. The SSG, Talabi did not reply to messages sent to him. https://dailypost.ng/2022/01/20/ogun-apc-in-disarray-over-letter-suspending-impeached-deputy-speakers-mum/ |
