The Nigerian Army says it is investigating a video being circulated on the social media, which shows Army personnel assaulting some civilians.


The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sanni Usman, said they were aware of it.

“We are aware of certain video being circulated,” Brigadier General Usman confirmed on Wednesday via a telephone interview.

He, however, said the Army had gotten complaints of the said video, adding that it had commenced an investigation into the matter while the report would be made public.

Usman said, “I don’t know which video you are talking about but whatever it is, we have had complaints of videos online.”



“The General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Major General Adamu Abubakar, is investigating it and whatever it is, we will definitely let the public know about the outcome,” he added.

Meanwhile, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has backed out of the mediation between his group and the South-East governors.

In a statement signed by him, Kanu alleged that soldiers in Abia State intended to assassinate him on his way to the meeting.

He also said his group was preoccupied with attending to victims of the “unprovoked military onslaught against innocent civilians” in the state.

IPOB leader, who had earlier met the governors a few days ‎ago, was scheduled to be in Enugu State on Friday, September 15, for a continuation of the dialogue.

He had met with the governors on August 30, and both parties agreed to hold further talks to seek an amicable resolution of issues raised by the pro-Biafra group.

I read what was reported in the Punch Newspaper of today by Mr. Tony Okafor, that the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi said he would fight the Anambra State election with the last drop of his blood.

Gosh! It is wickedness of the highest order to ascribe such a language to Mr. Peter Obi. I mean, the language is antithetical to everything Mr. Peter Obi stands for.

I was there at the meeting, Mr. Peter Obi never used that word, never. It is a word he cannot even use in his dream! We do not know where the Punch reporter got that news from.

Obi simply said that he was now a member of the PDP and that he would work aggressively to ensure the success of his party, which is the position of all party members working for the successes of their respective parties. He was visbly elated that the PDP has an excellent candidate, who would be a blessing for the State.

Obi was the Governor of Anambra for eight years and within those years, as now, he worked passionately for the growth and development of Anambra State. He has continued to desist from anything, be it act or utterances, that will be injurious to the State in any form and he will continue to do so.

Please kindly disregard the news. Obi is not given to violence of speech in any way. Those who know him can always attest to that and I believe you do.

Deputy Governors of Anambra, Dr. Nkem Okeke and Kogi, Elder Simon Achuba yesterday, held a joint meeting till midnight, at the Government House, Awka, unbehalf of their States' Governors to permanently resolve the issues.
In an introductory remark, Deputy Governor Okeke said that the meeting was necessary in order to harmonize views and strategize, though there had been efforts in the past, amidst provision of funds by State government to settle the boundary problems.

While saying that past settlement initiatives had not yielded fruits yet, Dr Okeke said that from recent efforts, both Governors are very much interested in resolving the issues, expressing optimism that with collaborative synergy between both States and the National Boundary Commission to further sensitize inhabitants, establish the boundaries, among others will hopefully settle the issue in perpetuity.

He added that government is committed to putting an end to the killings in the dispute areas, and asked them to toe the line of peace.

On his part, the Kogi State Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba, while thanking the Federal government and the joint field teams for their patience and sacrifice at resolving the issues, said the meeting aims to resume negotiations and baring of their minds on grey areas that require collective attention.

Deputy Governor Achuba further stressed their disposition towards the use of other alternatives to bring peace, describing the meeting as all important.

Giving an overview, the Director General of the National Boundary Commission, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed commended both States' Governors for insisting on peace, saying that the move is an evidence of forward and positive thinking, saying that hopefully, the tripartite points between Anambra, Enugu and Kogi States will be established also.

Dr. Ahmed who stressed that in this twenty first century, the international Community has deviced means for cross border corperation and means to divide cross border resources, said that hopefully, a win win situation will be finally arrived at.
Present also were the Director, Internal Boundaries, Surveyor Adamu Adaji, Surveyors General from both States, among others.

The team earlier called on Governor Willie Obiano at the Governor's Lodge, Amawbia.

Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Aisha Alhassan has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will not be naive to sack her from cabinet on account of her resolve not to support his 2019 presidential ambition.

NAAIJA recalls that the minister had said in a BBC Hausa service interview published on Wednesday that she would resign from cabinet if Buhari decided to run the next presidential election.

The Taraba-born politician has since come under heavy attack from the supporters of the President who have been calling for her sack as minister.

Speaking to State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja yesterday , she said her position as presented in the well publicized radio interview had not changed.

Asked what she could say more about her interview remarks, she said: “No, I have no comment. What will I say now, I have said all in BBC Hausa. Get someone who speaks Hausa very well to translate it for you.”

On her relationship with Buhari currently following her decision not to support him again, she noted: “How will I know. I have not seen the President but I don’t think the president is a naive person.”

On whether she was confident that she could retain her job, she said: “God gives and God takes. That is all and I have said it all in Hausa. You know that there is an end to everything.”

On Buhari supporters attacking her on social media, saying she’s not loyal, the minister who was former governorship candidate responded “Let the will of God be.”

MY ENCOUNTER WITH A SCAMMER.

On the midnight of 29th August, I received a strange but curious message. The message read "You are sleeping while your life and business is on redline. Very soon, we shall know if it's the police or Army will save you". His name appeared on truecaller as scorpion2. I didn't know this person.

But the man continued to call me. He said i was joking with fire because i had refused to contact him after reading his message. He threatened that soon I will be kidnapped and neither the police nor Army could save me. I asked him to explain the meaning of all that rubbish. I wanted him to tell me exactly what he wanted from me.

I contacted Barr Emeka Ugwuonye, the founder of Due Process's Advocates. He has been giving scammers bloody nose of late. He advised me to calm down and allow the man to send in more messages. He promised to track him down. But the man continued to harass me every morning and night.

I told the man that he was threatening and harassing a dead man. He asked me... ' who is a dead man?' I told him I was a dead man but through the grace of God, I overcame. He became sober and more interested on why I said so. I told him that even though I had stopped sharing the experience. I don't usually feel good going through that horrible memory lane but because he tried to scare me, I will tell him the story to prove to him that nothing scares me again.

On the midnight of 15th of may 2014 about one year after my wedding, armed robbers invaded my residence and opened fire on me and my wife. Bullets poured everywhere like rain drops. They were four in number, all armed with AK47/automatic riffle. I was shot at the hip within a close range. My wife was shot at the leg through a closed door.

We were taken to Emmanuel clinic and they couldn't handle our case and from there we were transfered to Rehoboth Orthopaedic Hospital here in Portharcourt. God did wonders through the hand of the professor in charge of the hospital.

I never knew life to be such a fragile reality. Men should be humble and seek the face of God always because we live only by the grace of God and there is nothing in this side of existence.

On the 17th of may 2014, i came face to face with death. Same day, my wife had a terrible miscarriage. I had insisted to be taken to the toilet to ease myself. I couldn't imagine myself doing it on the hospital bed inside the stainless plate the nurses provided. People were begging me to just relax and accept the reality of what happened to me. The whole scene appeared to me like a dream.

Two persons guided me, one by my right and the other by my left. Gradually, they walked me through the toilet door. Suddenly, i had an upsurge in my system. My face turned pale. my legs became weak. I complained that i do not know what was happening to me. They assisted me as i sat on the bathtub. Immediately i had a total blackout. I transited from this world of reality to the other side of existence. I could neither see nor hear the people around me.

I found myself roaming in a garden full of shrubs and flowers. I was wondering what i was doing there all alone. while i was there, i started hearing shrill voices from a distant place. Gradually the voices kept drawing nearer and finally, they became real. I was hearing things like....''call the Doctor'', ''pour water on his head'', ''lets carry him back to the bed'' etc. I was also hearing prayers like ''God you never disappointed me'', ''God manifest yourself in this place'' etc. I also felt serious beating on my chest. Infact it was this beating that helped brought me back to consciousness.

When i opened my eyes, i was surprised to see that people were running helter- skelter.The Doctor was already on hand with his stetoscope hung round his neck. My brother was already in a serious praying mood while he held me very close to himself. Finally,they took me back to my bed where the Doctor examined me thoroughly and placed me on life support where I was breathing through the aid of oxygen bottle. Few hours later, I was revived.

I was thinking about what happened and suddenly a negative imagination flashed through my mind. I thought to myself that had i died,the best epitaph befitting my Obituary announcement would have read..................

GONE SO SOON

The man was terribly shaken by my story. I told him that I still move around today with bullet buried inside my hip because the doctor couldn't remove it. When I had my first surgery, a metal plate was inserted into my system to link the femur damaged by bullets to the sucket. After one year, I had another excruciating surgery to remove the metal plate.

It was truly a long walk to full recovery. It took us three years to be back on our feet. Lot of money were spent. We passed through horrible pains, material wealth and other resources were expended. To God be the glory. We survived. Recently, my wife gave birth to a bouncing baby girl. Today our joy is complete.

The man who was threatening me a while ago, was so sorry for every inconvenience and thanked God for saving my life and that of my wife. I told him that we are having Thanksgiving service and Child dedication next Sunday, 10th of September 2017 in Portharcourt. I invited him but he declined and continued to apologize for harassing me.

We are friends now. I sent him some of the pictures we took in the hospital and shells of the bullets gathered after the attacks.

South African policemen ‘kill yet another Nigerian’

South Africa police have allegedly brutalized Clement Ofoma, a Nigerian based in the country, to death.

The Nigerian community in South Africa confirmed the killing on Wednesday, saying it occurred at Springs town, near Johannesburg despite warning from Nigeria government on Sunday.

Ofoma, 35, a native of Obosi, Idemili North local government area of Anambra, was a businessman based in the town.

According to NAN, Toewry Ofoma, a South African citizen who is the wife of the deceased, said about 10 policemen arrested her husband from his shop on Tuesday.

She said the police alleged that he was a drug dealer, but her husband denied the allegations.

“They searched our house, his store, and other places, but did not find any substance. In the process, they tortured him to confess where he kept the drugs, but my husband insisted he had nothing,” she said.

“The police used cellophane bag to cover his face and at a point, he was struggling to breathe and became unconscious. By the time they took him to a hospital, he was pronounced dead.”

Omezie Onyire, chairman of Obosi Development Union in Springs, has expressed shock over the tragic incident.

“He was an active member of our union and contributed to its improvement in South Africa,” he said.

“We condemn his alleged killing by the police and we will pursue this case to its logical end,” he said.

Adetola Olubajo, president, Nigeria Union, South Africa, said the matter had been reported to the Nigerian mission.

“We have also reported the matter to the Independent Police Investigating Department, a body that investigates crimes committed by the police,” he told Nigerians in the town.

“Also, our legal department will follow the case until justice is done, he said.”

Olubajo advised them to be law abiding, be united and form a chapter of the union in their area.

Policemen fired rubber bullets on some Nigerians in the town who staged a protest.

On August 30, a Nigerian, Kingsley Ikeri, 27, a native of Mbaitolu local government area of Imo, was allegedly killed by the police while being interrogated for being in possession of drugs.

His death happened two weeks after Uchena Eloh, a Nigerian, was killed by policemen in the Western Cape province of the country.

In December 2016, Metropolitan police in Cape Town strangled Victor Nnadi, also a businessman from Imo.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, special assistant to the president on foreign affairs and diaspora, revealed a total 116 Nigerians have been killed in South Africa through extra-judicial means in the last two years.

Seven in 10 of the killings were said to have been allegedly carried out by the police.

Comrade Powerful said that BSS is like any other vigilante group though with a national colouration which is Biafra.

In his words, “There is nothing treasonable about protecting our farms and villages from Fulani herdsmen. People should stop turning English language upside down.”

He maintained that there is nothing treasonable about exercising the right to self determination and securing lives and properties.

His words, “In Arewa North there are Hisbah, Sharia Police and other forms of Islamic police. Why can’t Biafrans have their own security to protect innocent mothers and our women from being raped and killed by Fulani herdsmen?”

However, A gubernatorial candidate, Ezeemo reacting to what the people are saying concerning security in a recent vox populi said that with the empowerment of the youths, the need for security will minimise drastically.

He said he would ensure attention given to education is increased, steady power supply and more frequent and effective on-the-job training for vigilante service which would be remunerated better. He said he would also mount digital surveillance on all flash points.

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has again condemned the incessant extra judicial killing of Nigerians living in South Africa.

She said the continuous killings showed that South African government was downplaying possible retaliation by Nigeria.

In a statement on Saturday by her special assistant on media, Abdurrahman Balogun, the presidential aide said “this is one death, too many.”

She said diplomatic talks between Nigeria and South Africa to put an early warning signal in place “doesn’t seem to be working”.

Recall that the Nigeria Union in South Africa confirmed the killing of another member, Kingsley Ikeri, at Vryheid town in Kwazulu Natal Province of South Africa on August 30.

Ikeri, 27, a businessman and native of Mbaitolu in Imo State, is the second Imo indigene to be so killed in the last two weeks.

Reacting, Dabiri-Erewa described the latest extra judicial killing of another Nigerian in South Africa as “worrying and condemnable”.

She said that the latest gruesome killing of Ikeri by the Police in South Africa, is “unacceptable to the people and government of Nigeria”.

While reiterating President Buhari’s calls to Nigerians to avoid crimes like drug peddling which attracts stiff penalties, sometimes death, she lamented that the latest incident has increased the number of Nigerians killed in South Africa through extrajudicial means in one year.

“The barbaric behaviour of the perpetrators is not only unacceptable, but also calls for urgent attention by diplomatic authorities in Nigeria and South Africa”, she said.

Dabiri-Erewa urged the South African government to ensure that justice prevails by carrying out investigation and bring the culprit to book.

She reiterated her calls to Nigerians living abroad to always respect the laws of their host countries and be good ambassadors of Nigeria.

“My heart goes out to the families of the deceased and pray God to grant the departed soul eternal rest”, the SSA prayed.

Dabiri-Erewa had in February during a meeting in Abuja with South Africa High Commissioner, Mr Lulu Louis Mnguni, said a total of 116 Nigerians have been killed in South Africa through extrajudicial means in the last two years.

So the old lady calls me to gossip about her neighbors. Apparently she was cheating on her husband who works here in Johannesburg. One of the neighbors alerted the husband.
He usually goes back to work on Sunday, he asked for leave so he can burst his wife. On Sunday evening, he pretends to go to work but comes back so he can catch them in action.
He gets home, knocks on the door and the wife quickly hides the man in a kist (A storage for old clothes) and locks it so the hubby can’t open it. The husband summons the wife to come with him to visit his mother. She refuses but the guy won’t take no for an answer. Eventually she agrees. They pack and leave. (meanwhile the man is still locked).

3 days later they get a call from the cops telling them that there is a foul smell in the house. When they get there. There are worms all-over the place, it leads to the kist (the storage where the man was locked).
When they opened it, it was the husband of a near-by neighbor. He was buried today.

Just 4 days after a bus got burnt after failing to control its steering due to brake failure, Another bus found itself inside the Ubu Osigbu stream, According to the injured driver, Coming down the hill en-route Ukpor from Nnewi, he tried to slow down by pedalling his brake but to his disappointment, It failed. There were two cars coming before me from the sharp bend and i tried to control the full loaded bus into safety on my vacant left side, but the speed coming down the hill veered me into the water.

A commercial motorcyclist who almost collided with the bus said the driver lost control, veered of his lane and plunged into the river, probably due to brake failure.

When naaijan visited the victims at the hospitals where they are receiving medical attention, There was a wide spread rumor of one already dead though nurses in the hospital still shiver in uncertainty.

OWERRI ZONE UNITES, INVOKES THE SPIRIT OF THEIR ANCESTORS AGAINST OKOROCHA AT UGWU EKWEMA

Following the forceful demolition of Eke Ukwu Owere against court orders which led to the brutal murder of Master Somtochukwu and many others, Ifeanyicy.com reports that the people of OWERRI zone have declared operation end of OKOROCHA'S callous and barbaric actions meted on the people of Owerri zone and OWERRI federal constituency in particular.

In a gathering organized by the people of the zone which is on-going, the people of OWERRI condemned OKOROCHA'S actions which was described as inhumanity to the Owere man regardless of their hospitality.

The elders "OHA" of Owere Nchi Ise at the grave side of the founding fathers of Owere Ekwem Arugo of the 14th century, however called on the ancestors of the land to rise against any inhumanity against his generation and the people of Owere by the government of lmo state led by Rochas Okorocha.

In his speech, Barr Ken Njemanze(SAN) assured the people of OWERRI zone that all legal means and right steps will be taken to ensure that justice prevails.
He further noted that adequate compensation of damages to the displaced victims must be paid pointing out that every agency involved in the brutality must be brought to book.
However, Owere people resolved that Eke Ukwu Owere must stay and can not be relocated whether Rochas Okorocha likes it or not.

According to an eyewitness, Ezeanochie Johnbosco this happened while he was on his way to Onitsha at Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. The tanker got stuck in the mud and fell on a Toyota Camry and the diesel is all over the place. He prays the tanker doesn’t explode.

Ezeanochie, is worried about such incidents and wants the government to do the needful and put the road in other to avoid such incidents in future

Party Primaries: Crisis Everywhere.



The political party primary elections have come and gone, but it seems the crisis it has generated may define the fate of the candidates in the November 18 election.

The crisis will force an alignment and re alignment in the days leading to the election.

APGA
There are two candidates, two primaries. One produced gov Obiano while the other produced Hon Hygers Igwebuike.

The candidature of gov Obiano is recognized by the Appeal Court judgement of August 16, which vacated the order of mandamus of Enugu High Court and recognised Oye as the authentic National Chairman of APGA.

The camp of Hygers Igwebuike is already at the Supreme Court and judgement is expected before November 18, so anything can happen.

PDP
The crisis in PDP resulting from the primary election held on August 28 is getting worrisome.

About 3 aspirants pulled out of the primary election and discontinued from the process leading to the primary election citing irregularities and alteration of delegate list. The 3 aspirants; Stella Oduah, John Emeka and Lynda Ikpeazu have not done any formal protest to either the appeal panel of PDP set up to look into any issue arising from the primaries or gone to court to register their protest.

But Ifeanyi Ubah who participated in the primaries has opened challenged the outcome which produced Oseloka Obaze as the party's candidate.

Ubah's media, Ikechukwu Emeka Oyia and Personal Assistant to Chief Olisa Metuh, Samben Nwosu are already at the Awka High Court challenging the processes of the primary election.

The court has slated date for hearing and determination of the injunction sought by the plaintiffs asking the court to nullify the primaries and INEC not to accept the name of any candidate that would emerge from the primaries.

Definitely the court will decide before November 18, and that won't be healthy for PDP.

UPP
United Peoples Party has her own crisis which claimed the live of the ward chairman on the day of its primary election.

About 5 aspirants including Chudi Offordile, Ifeanyichukwu Okonkwo have all left the party in protest citing irregularities in the delegate list. They alleged that the delegate list favoured the party's candidate, Osita Chidoka and vehemently protested against it.

But Chidoka had the backing of the national leadership of UPP and came out victorious at the primaries.

Chudi Offordile is challenging the outcome of that primaries held on August 19 at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The outcome may affect the party.

APC
APC had what has been described as a very peaceful primary election against the ugly expectations of many pundits.

But the emergence of Tony Nwoye seems not to have gone down well with many of the aspirants.

Apart from Dr Chike Obidigbo who issued an official statement congratulating Nwoye, no any other aspirant has sent a formal congratulatory message to the party's flag bearer.

Engr Barth Nwibe after the announcement of the results at Women Development Centre Awka, walked to Nwoye and shook him and said congrats. Other aspirants walked out definitely in anger.

Presently, AIF Media Forum has gathered that Andy Ubah has filed a petition against the primaries to party leadership and APC appeal panel. AIF Media Forum is not certain about the complains contained in the petition.

Apart from Andy's petition, no state nor national leader of APC has officially extended hands of fellowship and cooperation to Nwoye on his victory at the primaries.

The disquiet in APC both at Awka and Abuja since the outcome of the primaries produced Nwoye can not be said to be healthy.

Commercial Bus Fails Brake, Somersaults, Blow Up In Ukpor, Anambra State, Red cock dies



The incident which was caused by the faulty brake of the bus in conjunction with the hilly road  saw a child loose face and a foul dead,

According to an eyewitness, other persons involved sustained minor injuries except for the duo of a 3-year-old boy whose mother struggled to come off the bus with while flames burnt his face and a cock belonging to a woman going to the afor-ukpor market which trails every four days.





The hill is the major road built by Same Virgy Etiaba to link Ukpor to Nnewi with a stream, ubu bounding both Anambra towns.
