The Lagos Political space is now being shared by both the indigenes and the Igbo resident-settlers which means, Theoretically, the people of Lagos seem to have identified themselves with the progressive ideology but now, the intervention of the Igbo is likely to cause some disequilibrium in ideological denomination. According to Pascal Nwankwo, A Festac based resident and candidate Amuwo Odofin LGA, He said, Lagos should serve as the micro space for the Igbo to start playing politics of integration and the right time is now. he insisted that Igbos should use their number to consolidate their political base. Jamiu said the Igbos were part of the builders of Lagos and promised should be part of decision making even at local government level which would continue to provide the right atmosphere for their businesses to thrive. Labour Party pledges to address the issue of “discrimination against the Igbos on levies and taxes at the various markets” and can only perfect that by having Igbo brothers and sisters as part of the government at every level. According to the party's spokesman, We have to observe that Ndi Igbo are the great movers of the Lagos economy and as well developers who do not constitute any threat to Lagos security and peace. It is therefore wrong to after seeing the Igbo people great who are great funders of the Lagos budget and projects and as well great electorate and developers of Lagos; and still consider them not worthy to be elected. http://www.naaija.com/2017/07/labour-party-deduce-yorubaigbo-partnerships-eko-lg-elections/

The Progressives Leaders Association (PILA), an organization sponsoring an Igbo Language School in the U.S., says a similar school has been opened in South Africa. Mr Chima Umealo, Coordinator of PILA in South Africa, said at a dinner in Johannesburg on Sunday that 16 children had started lesson in the school. He said the group’s aim was to secure the Igbo language and ensure it would not be extinct. “Pila’s aim is to secure the Igbo language because UNESCO had predicted that the language was among those that will go out of fashion in no distant time. “ We decided to come out with a programme to secure our language because a people without a language are no people,” he said. Umealo, also the President, Abia Union, South Africa, said one way of sustaining Igbo culture was to secure the language. “We therefore, resolved to establish an Igbo school in South Africa to affiliate with the one in the U.S to promote our culture and language,” he said. The coordinator said children born in South Africa, who are not opportune to communicate with others when they go home would be taught the language He said that the children were taught during vacation, while arrangements had been concluded to teach them at weekends during school session. “As time goes on, we will teach them mathematics and science in Igbo to make them put to practice what they do daily in school and at home,” Umealo said. The traditional head of Abia indigenes in South Africa, Eze Sidney Ihediwa, said the establishment of the school was a step in the right direction. “ It is important because we should ensure that our heritage and culture does not go into extinction,” he said. The traditional ruler said that some children born abroad were losing touch with their language, noting that such schools would assist them to preserve their culture. The chairman of Ikwuano/Umuahia Community in South Africa, Chief Ikechi Otuonye, said the school would make children to speak their native language while abroad. “Even when they travel to other countries, they can communicate in the language with other brethren there,” he said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERkB9lH2GBo CREDIT: NAAIJA.COM In celebrating the fulfilment of 'Aku luo uno'! Which is a call for Anambarians within and outside Anambra to invest in the state Governor Obiano commissioned Stanel Multipurpose Facility. Below is his speech at the event...... I am delighted to be here to welcome yet another important investment into Anambra State. I feel personally gratified to note that more and more sons and daughters of our great state are accepting the timeless wisdom of Aku luo uno and heeding our call to invest at home. Indeed, the enterprise we have gathered here today to inaugurate is a clear demonstration of our people’s well-known drive for excellence and our capacity to change our environment for the better. Ndi Anambra have proven this over and again in so many distant places that everyone is convinced that we have what it takes to change our story. But the only people that we have left to convince are ourselves…we need to convince ourselves that the enterprising excellence we have demonstrated in other places can sink roots in our own home. Indeed, it is important to prove that the soil of Anambra State is receptive to progress, to prosperity and to human advancement. That is why it is very fulfilling to see that our brother Stanley Uzochukwu has joined the growing line of Ndi Anambra that have heeded the call to put our dear state on the map of rapidly developing states in Nigeria. Stanley, I must thank you for this. I must also thank all our brothers and sisters who have taken advantage of the conducive environment we have created in the past three years to invest in our beloved state. For those who have yet to consider the attractive benefits of investing at home, we are waiting for you. We are ready to help you. Anambra is ready for you! It is common knowledge that Anambra is the safest state in Nigeria today. It is also widely known in the investment community that the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) makes the process of investing in the state seem as easy as a walk in the park. I urge you to heed the call to invest at home. Anambra needs you now! Don’t wait a moment longer! Ndi be anyi, there are many reasons why I am happy with Stanley Uzochukwu for giving us this great place. The first reason is that this piece of investment has created over 500 direct and indirect jobs. The second is that it is a 24-hour Mega Centre which marks it out as an endorsement of the great efforts we have made to secure our beloved state. The third but not the final reason is that it has not only added to the growing aesthetics of our capital city but it has also altered the emerging entertainment scene with its remarkably integrated offerings. It has therefore expanded the space for further exploration of the atmosphere of freedom that our investment in security has created for our people. Ndi Anambra, I think Stanel deserves our applause! In conclusion, want to reassure our numerous entrepreneurs who have yet to remember Anambra in their investment plan that Anambra adigokwanu mma! My Team and I have cleaned up this state and established a strong foundation for economic and industrial growth. But the actual mechanism that will give us prosperity and progress is in the hands of the people. All we have done is to catalyse the process. We are waiting for you to lend a weighty hand to the building of a New Anambra State! It is on this note that I declare the Awka office of Stanel Oil Multi-purpose Facility open! Dalunu!
