hiroz and osemu8. I was going through a thread of ex corpers that served in rivers like 3 years ago. someone was saying the people of rivers are hostile to corpers. is it true, and have you experienced that? I want to know how hospitality is about the people so I won't fall into trouble...

onis just forget about it if you are posted to any of the LGA in port Harcourt city...every house has a gen.the first time I came to pH I was shocked....gen noise is like water in pH..I don't really know the state of power supply away from pH,but I know those communities hosting huge oil firms have regular power

my main issue is the electricity power, that's my major concern because I need it so well in as much I hate the sounds of generator. Am a computer programmer and blogger so I need power.

you have to start working it from camp oh... from those NYSC staff in camp as you enter camp just start knowing them and aligning... but be careful some may not have much power in working your posting

Take for instance, if am posted to a private school in one rural area, shebi the school will pay me apart from fg allowee? and can someone come to camp with power bank? and please give us some communities and towns in rivers that have constant electricity come make sense wella.

the camp was fun,the food is ok,mami market is lively for those who will not use the kitchen,boring lectures,cost of food is quiet fair in rural areas,not all ppa have accommodation,power is ok in rural areas,no best place for ppa becus time is change,but it is better to serve in rural areas,my ppa used to have the best lodge in rivers state,it was a private lodge given freely for by an individual for many years,but things changed as we were rounding up,opportunities are everywhere in rivers state but hard to access,we were not paid state allowance,but it was the best service year.

that's great. I just want to confirm because some people had said that there is no constant electricity power in rivers except communities that has oil companies which powers all those communities.

pls note, according to what ex corpers said, camp is always open on the day nysc appropriated so if you go on Monday you won't be allowed in until Wednesday 28. I myself stays in Abuja but will be leaving on Thursday. camp will open on Thursday. so make u no go come on Monday come dey find were u go stay, unless u have people there.

@liadi2... my brother life in pH no be smalltin oooo, even in camp de don't normallypost people to porthacourt because of accommodation issue but if u can sort urself out den de will post u dere u need to know someone dat can help u or if u Ave relative or u have a company dat u want to work with den u re good to go dere re also some area in Rivers Sate dat don't have network and dere means of transport is boat 2k for transport wen u re going to sectariat for vouching or any emergency and remember we re only depending on 19600 in Rivers oooo, but u can get secondary ppa like lesson teaching in another school dat can fetch u token.

if re posted to porthacourt no light oooo de running on generator but dere re some community where oil company is supplying dem power with constant power supply an water Eg onelga, but u must be in omoku, obrikom, Mgbede, Aggah, Erema, Dere lot of places but choose wisely

If u runs ur ppa to porthacourt be ready to pay for accommodation by urself and accommodation no be beans oooo house de expensive for porthacourt oooo 80k upward but dere re some other lga dat make sense where u can get free accommodation and also second ppa dat can serve as source of income for u my brother porthacourt cityno easy oooo, and more so if u re posted to porthacourt after services de will pay u 55k but if u re posted to remote area u re to be pay 110k at d endof service year so choose wisely but if u have sure link in porthacourt dere re lot of big opportunity in Port only if u have someone dat can help u, house, transport no be beans for PH

I am B14 currently serving in Port Harcourt LGA....firstly...forget about stateallowance as the state has not been paying since 2012....Secondly, do not expect much as corp members that did not study health related disciplines in the university will be teaching (tho I alsowork in an oil and gas servicing company). Also, accommodation challenges are predominant in PH..

according to hiroz , .....Rivers camp is ok.it is quite expansive..with multiply halls of residence.boys and girls hostels have sm little demarcations.the rooms are large with like 50bunks per room,so nothing like personal space.toilet n bathrums are ok the food aint so bad.but when it rains,the camp is messed up,mud everywhere...after camp,nothing like oil money,everybody na teacher..serving in obio/akpor l.g.a which is also 1 of the l.g.a that covers porth harcourt city...

well does anyone know who have served or currently serving in rivers, just to tell us how life and camp looks like so we can learn.

these thread is not necessary. Me myself am facing Thesame challenge as am from the Igbo speaking part of Delta state but I don't see myself as Igbo. The Nigerian constitution recognises me as a Nigerian first before a south South. We all are Nigerians first. all these hulla bulla , igbo , ijaw or Biafra are all just rubbish.
