Jobs/Vacancies / Check Out How His Former Boss Paid Him Back Even After Stealing His Money by onismate: 8:03am On Jul 27, 2016
This is an experience of a friend who narrated this story while i wrote.... Read...

Life is so easy if humans can live easily. And thank God man was not God because if not, there would have been disaster in the world because we can’t just tolerate each other.
2011 during the course of my industrial training (I.T). I was doing it in a computer and web design firm. It wasn’t a big firm though. It was just 3 employees and me. My boss was and still a nice person. He pays us on time and I dedicated my best to the job as if I was full time. Sometimes I even sleep over at the office. At a time, it looked as if I was the backbone of the business because I coordinate virtually what is going on since my boss really don’t know much of the job. He just opened the business because he heard it was profitable. With all I was doing, I still receive N10,000 as my monthly pay. I never complained of that and there was more profit entering and my boss was very happy.
Later, the challenges I started facing was my boss’s wife. Sometimes when my boss is not around, she would come and demand for the money we made for the day. Sometimes it was becoming annoying because when my boss must have travelled, she will come to collect the money we made for the whole week. Sometimes I will call my boss and he will tell me to just give her the money. But I was suspecting things were not going well for the family. She was arrogant, saucy and hot tempered. She had slapped me couple of times. When she’s around at the office, there must be one form of argument and insult. She even insults my boss. When she’s around, the temperature of the environment goes up because, person no go hear word. She would argue, shout over unnecessary things.
As time went on, my boss began finding it difficult to pay us salaries. I went one month, two months without salaries. And money, profits were coming out of the business. Sometimes I was even staying overnight, working in the office. I had to bear it because it’s just I.T and I will soon leave. But deep down, the work was draining me physically and mentally. Yet my Boss’s wife comes almost every day to be collecting what we made on a daily basis. Boss was giving excuses why he couldn’t pay.
After the third month with no salary, the fourth month which was when I should be on my way out of the place and back to school, I was devastated. I asked my boss if he was not going to pay me, he said he doesn’t know yet and I should keep on working. Two days to my leaving the office, my boss called and said he won’t be giving me anything that there is no money.
I felt humiliated, and scammed because some personal web development work I was giving personally, I made them office works which I did on behalf of the business, yet nothing for me. Well I continued my work in good fate.
My final day in the office, I did all the uncompleted jobs and went way, moving on. I received a call from a man that I did a job for. He gave me a part payment of N85,000 and it was remaining N15,000. He called me to come collect the balance. I went the next day and collected it. I called my former boss to tell him. He said I should bring the money for him. The man sef no wan give me anything. After the call, I got angry and refused taking the money to him. I called and pleaded with him to take the money since I was in need of cash. But Oga no gree. But I did what was on my mind. I took the money, changed my line and returned to school. And that was the last time I heard from him.
Fast forward to this year, after I have graduated and served and still job hunting. I got an offer from a multinational company which I applied for. And I used the small company I did my I.T and the boss as my reference. I was so happy that after everything I got the job. Not until after one month I started work and I was talking with one of the HR department member in the office. He began explaining to me how I got the job. She said in terms of degrees and qualifications, other candidates that did the final interview with me are well qualified than me but the only problem was references. The office contacted the people, office they referenced almost all of them had problem with their reference. It’s either the companies and the phone numbers doesn’t exist or the their former company doesn’t have any convincing remark about them but only me. I was so shocked when she said that. That means they contacted my former boss I stole his money. I just felt and believed that the references I added was just for a record purpose. I never knew they would contact them. I tried asking her the remark that my former boss I stole his money gave about me. She laughed and said he gave a good remark about me. That I am hardworking and purpose driving and some other things. She turned to me and was like “where you expecting a bad remark?” na so I say “No.” Throughout the day, I was imagining what other things my former boss must have said about me. I felt a little weak that I never contacted him since all the while. I thought his number won’t even be going through because even when threw the sim away, I have their contacts on my diary. I thought just adding the reference will just be for formality sake.
Two weeks later, I had to call my former boss I stole his money. Infact we talked so well on phone that he invited me to his house. I bought wine and visited him. I knelt down and apologized for what I did. Though he said I was not to be blamed because I had been so hardworking. And he should have giving me something when I was leaving but because of some family issues. He said he was surprised when my company called that they wanted to get some information about me from him. He said he meant everything he told them. That I was good, hardworking, and some other things he told them about me. He also told me that he lost that his wife in 2015.
Who knew that the references in CV is not just for formality sake. Employees use them so pay close attention to references. Know who you are adding as your reference.

Politics / APC Chairman, Oyegun Claims Abuja-kaduna Railway Project Done By Gej's Govt by onismate: 1:09pm On Jul 23, 2016
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) John Odigie-Oyegun, said yesterday that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government successfully completed the Abuja-Kaduna railway project in just one year.
The APC chief made the disclosure when he and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) took a test ride on the train from Kubwa to Jere.
He said the project’s speedy completion was achieved within this period, despite attempts by past governments to break the jinx since 2006 when it was first muted.

The chairman explained that thoughj the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan commenced funding of the project, it had however been on the drawing board for a longer time.

Politics / Re: unemployed Nigerians scramble for slots As F.G set to take Peace Corp Of Nigeria by onismate: 9:21am On Jul 20, 2016
Project400:
No please,

The F.G should take over Peace Corp to make profit (not to primarily create jobs). It is this same bureaucratic backwardness that brought us to the current state of stagflation and inflation.

If Peace Corp has nothing to bring to the Table like the Nigerian Custom, FRSC, etc., it should be discarded as quickly as possible. Alternatively, the leaders of the body should go back to the drawing table.

Any business that is primarily created to create jobs WILL fail.

It is the same principle that 'killed' Sure-P initiatives.

The same principle will also 'kill' the new N-power programme of the FG.
I understand your point, the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT have been so insensitive to so many things about the welfare of the masses. They are looking for ways to create employment for youths, this might be another way only if all these agencies don't clash with each other.

Politics / unemployed Nigerians scramble for slots As F.G set to take Peace Corp Of Nigeria by onismate: 8:42am On Jul 20, 2016
I got to learn about this non-Governmental organization few months ago when couple of unemployed friends were running around seeking on how to register to become a peace corper.
From what I learnt from about this organization, it’s a non-Governmental uniform organization founded by Amb. (Dr) Dickson A.O. Akoh in 1998 in Kaduna, Nigeria. PCN as its fondly called has said its position in Nigeria is very important and vital. One of its mission is to interfere and mediate on conflict matters and affairs to bring peace in Nigeria.
Peace corp of Nigeria has managed to remain relevant over the years in Nigeria, however Government is yet to recognize them as a paramilitary force. However, Peace corps of Nigeria, NSCDC and VIO, all were formed the same time period by their respective founders, but it seem the FG took over VIO and NSCDC leaving PCN to its fate.
But it seem the federal Government is making plans to take over the organization. This is because the House of Representative in June, passed into law a bill for an act to establish the Nigerian peace Corps, which seeks to empower, develop and provide alternative employment for youths in other to facilitate peace. I guess it’s remaining the senate to comply then the presidency.
But do we need the Peace corps of Nigeria? The other paramilitary we have, are they not enough? Some may ask. Almost the military, paramilitary and security organizations owned by the Government does the same thing. The VIO will apprehend badand nonchalant vehicle drivers. The police will do the same thing. The NSCDC will arrest oil bonkers, the army, navy does the same thing, the police does it too. The police are in charge of internal peace so do we still need PCN!
Well, I think we need Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN). The FG had promised to provide over a million jobs in a year, I guess this is the time since the peace corps of Nigeria said they have over 100,000 staffs and 90,000 officers.
Currently, Nigerians have seem to discover that the F.G will soon take over the organization since APC is now the Government in charge. It was alleged that while the Past Government wasn’t able to take over was because the commandant in charge wasn’t in PDP. Amb. (Dr) Dickson A.O. Akoh is a staunch APC member and chieftain. It is believed that in no distance time the FG will take over and re-integrate it into a full Nigerian Paramilitary force. Trust Nigerians nah. They have been running around to get membership into PCN presently because it’s fast and easy. Because when the Government takes over, recruitment will be difficult in the organization.
On the 7th of July, PCN had their screening for those who applied to join the organization. “Surely it wasn’t as easy as expecting on that training screening,” according to my sister who attended the screening in Abuja.
According to my sister, they bought PCN form for N1500. Text messages was sent to them to come for the screening on that 7th with blue shorts, white canvas and white shirt. She (my sister) got to the training ground and met thousands of Nigeria. I guess she thought she was only the unemployed Nigerian. Nigerians dey find work. It was specified that PCN only wanted people that are physically fit from 18 to 35 years. But trust Nigerians. Pregnant women, people that are even older than my grandmother came for the training. People wan join Peace corps because FG wan take over, so they have free access. Population of attendance was massive, upto 5000 in Abuja. The officials were screening people out based on age. Most people falsified their ages. Some people as old as my dad are claiming 32. Pregnant women everywhere. The officials screened out so many people including based on height and weight. But trust Nigerians nah, any recruitment exercise, some fraudulent people will use the opportunity to extort money from applicants just because they are desperately looking for job. Some dubious PCN officials begin do over do. They screen out even qualified people sef, asking them to bring N2,000 just to push them over. And some applicants paid because they want to be peace corper. After screening out some unqualified applicants, some dubious PCN members would go behind and collect money from them, thereby reinstating them. That is very unfair.
After the screening, the qualified ones were asked to pay N40,000 for their uniform. And another major camp training has being scheduled.
Just in case FG finally takes over PCN, they should redo the screening exercise. And if the F.G finds the organization fit and important to Nigeria, they should really take over it.
So fellow Nigerians, do we really need this organization, Peace Corp of Nigeria? Or should the Government just leave it and never take over, for it to remain a non-Governmental Organization. Share your views.

Jobs/Vacancies / How My Friend Got A Job That Gave Him N5m In Just Four Months by onismate: 8:04am On Jul 16, 2016
This is a story about my friend, how he got a job that changed his life. Read....

Few months back while I was still serving as a corp member. The federal Government was yet to activate the months alert on my phone, we were yet to be paid the month’s allowee. I was going to my PPA and I had a little money on me. I had to use my corper power to be stopping any car I find going towards my direction. I had my NYSC cap on me. I stopped some who refused to carry me. But I no blame them. They felt corpers love free ride a lot. One that I stopped, it was a lady that was driving the car. Na so she just whined down the glass. I begged if she could take me to my destination. She asked how much I was willing to pay. I told her that I only had N100 on me. The she looked at me. Her facial reaction looked as if she should slap. “Look corper, don’t you ever stop my car if you don’t have money,” she said as she zoomed off. “Chaiii,” I thought she would even be considerate as a lady. Na so I stay there till one car was passing by. I was even scared of stopping it but I managed to use my corpers cap to stop it, and it stopped. The driver was a mid-aged man. He said he was going towards Port Harcourt. And that was my direction though I won’t get to Port Harcourt. Well he asked me to come in.
As we move towards my location, we began chatting. He asked me my name and school I graduated from. I told him my name, and that I graduated from Federal University of Agriculture (Funaab). He asked me my state of origin. At first I became scared, hoping he doesn’t want to kidnap me. Because kidnapping is rampant in Rivers state. He told me his name is Mr Philip and said he’s the CEO of a new oil and gas servicing firm in Port Harcourt. I was just amazed when he said he’s the CEO of an oil and gas serving firm. Because he was looking casual without much swag. My orientation when he said he was the CEO of his oil firm, I thought it was a huge oil and gas firm. I be don think say the man was sitting untop of money. Not until he told me he only has one employee which is himself. I be don think say I don hammer. You need to see the way I frowned my face as if I lost a jackpot. After much talk, he gave me his complimentary card and dropped me where I was supposed to drop before going his way.
In the evening, I called his line and appreciated him for dropping me off with his car. He said he liked people like me who are smart, intelligent and purpose oriented. Na so I appreciate him compliment.
3 weeks later, Mr Philip called me. He said he had a client in Buguma were I was staying that he wants to supply Marine gas to. And that I should send him my email address so he would send me the quotations for the client so I print and send it to him. At first I began wondering if this Mr Philip is not up to a scam. “Because you barely know me.” “You just took me in your car once and you want to send quotation to someone through me.” To me it doesn’t really add up. As Mr Philip was still talking on phone, I was just wondering what to tell him. Whether to tell him ‘No’ or “yes.” I had to cut the call and told him that I will call him back. I had to think about it. My friends who were around were laughing at that I don enter one chance. But I thought about it. Since its just to print email and send it to someone. But another thought came up. What of if he was trying to set me up to be kidnapped. As I was thinking about it, Mr Philip called again. He saw that I was sounding afraid. He said I shouldn’t be scared, since I am a corper, that he will even send the client to corpers lodge to take the quotations. I tell say “No problem,” and I sent him my email address. He sent the quotations and I printed it out. Na so I begin wait for call to know the next step. After 2 hours, the client called that he was on his way out of Buguma. And that I should wait for him at the corpers lodge gate so he can collect the quotation. I went to the gate, I and two of my friends to wait. Because I no wan just take chances. As we waited, a find white venza drove by and stopped at our front. The driver whind down and asked who he was speaking with on phone. I told him I was the one. He apologized for delaying. I gave him the quotations and he left. I called Mr Philip that I have delivered the quotation. He thanked me and sent airtime to me. I was happy.
As time went on, Mr Philip will call and said he was out of town. He would send me transport fare and send me to deliver quotations to some companies.
One day, I decided to visit his office in Abuloma Jetty in Port Harcourt. It was just a room in one big complex. He welcomed me and we talked so well. He said he would love me to join him in that company. He wants me to be marketing and distributing gases to company as he is trying to face gas business squarely. But I was so gullible that I underrated him and the business. I was yet to understand that he was giving me employment on a platter of gold. I was even yet to understand that gas business is the ink thing now. Na so I begin do shakara. I told him I will think about it since it’s a few weeks before my passing out. He said he just liked me. That I will be his first employee and infact he doesn’t send people on an errand like the way he sends me. He just wants to integrate me as he raises huge money to venture into the business because he is bidding for a big Government contract.
I told my friends about Mr Philips offer, many of them discouraged me. They mocked me, feeling marine gas, gas is not a lucrative business. That he (Mr Philip) is trying to play on my intelligence, and I was being fooled. I never knew that them too were gullible as me. Because some of them studied accounting and commercial courses in school so they only understand oil and not gas.
As time went on, I had no choice because there is no job. I took Mr Philips offer with an open heart and hand. After my POP, I am no longer a corper, some of my friends went back home while I stayed in Mr Philip house with his family. I gave my best as I worked, delivering gases to companies. I was just the chief marketer. For three months I was not paid but I was hopeful in the business. I even help in drafting out big companies that we contact if they need gases.
In the 4th month, first week, we landed huge marine gas supply contract. We were so busy throughout the month that My Oga, Mr Philip employed more hands. At the end of the month, N5m was paid into my account by the company. I was shocked. I thought it was too much according to what I told Mr Philip. He said the money is even too small for the commitment and job I was doing. That if it were bigger companies, they will pay me more, but we are just starting and as time goes on, he will increase it. Chaiii, na so my life don change ooo. Thank God I didn’t listen to my friends.
This is my 6th month in the company and we are getting bigger and better. More workers are coming in. Never despise your humble beginning. And am sure am going to make more money.

Phones / How Mobile App Saved Me From Being defrauded of Huge sum by Kidnappers In Rivers by onismate: 9:57am On Jul 11, 2016
I have never been a fan of mobile banking app because of its conditions in Nigeria. The too many hitches like connection error, service time out and too many charges, deductions from accounts. I always frown at mobile banking but I have no choice but to move with time.
First bank is one bank I was not a fan of. Right from unset I had been hearing about the poor services of the bank, their rude customer care agents, massive unorganized queue. I didn’t like it but fortunately (because there is no unfortunate in my dictionary) I was given the bank by NYSC for receiving my monthly allowance. But yet they still have great number, highest customers in Nigeria. I had no choice that to use the bank. Unless maybe I didn’t want to be paid by the FG. Fortunately, my Place of primary assignment (PPA) was far from the main town and there is no bank and ATM in the small town. So we have to move to move to the main Port Harcourt town to withdraw and any form of financial transactions.
In late April, 2016, one of my sisters was planning on sending me a huge sum of money for something important. And that same month my domain was nearing expiration on 30th of same month.
On the 30th I was preparing to go to Port Harcourt to renew my domain when I encountered some challenges. I couldn’t even leave my PPA to Port Harcourt. I was stuck, and there was no bank in the community, no ATM and I couldn’t reach anyone who was able to help do the transaction. And I couldn’t just back-out, I don’t want to lose my domain name. I was left with doing an online transaction. What I was running away from, I had to go for it. It’s not a choice, it’s just the best option at that moment. I downloaded the First bank mobile app which I used to pay for my domain. That marked a new turn, and I began using the Firstmobile, though not frequently.

On 2/06/2016, my sister sent N210,000 into my first bank account. Ofcourse I was happy because it felt like God has buttered my bread and added meat untop of my rice and stew. And no be say she borrow me ooo, na dash she dash me the money. I was hoping to leave the money and use it to start up any small scale business after my passing out. N210,000 plus the money I have in the account and other cash I hoped to be in the account.

On 8/06/2016 at about 10:17am, I was coming back from Port Harcourt. I entered a car in Choba going to Buguma. The journey was so smooth after passing the police check point after Choba park. When we got to Ogbakiri junction to divert to Kalabari kingdom. We met some men thinking it was just the usual police check point. Not knowing that they are kidnappers. Everything looked like a dream. Not until they asked us to get down from the car and began beating us. Two of them had guns. Within 10 minutes, they had pushed the 5 of us inside their jeep. We began hearing gunshots from behind. I guessed the police where fast approaching. The kidnappers had to move us out of the place. I thought the police would keep up chase, but it wasn’t. I was full of fear. I didn’t even though where we were being taken to. I no know road. Na corper I be oo. We were taken to an uncompleted building and made to seat on the ground. We were 5 they kidnapped, a young woman and 3 men. I was the only youth there.

We were taken to one uncompleted building, collected our pulse, phones, handbags and my wallet. I had heard of kidnappers collecting ATM cards and pins from victims and zapping their accounts, but this was it! They collected the money from us and ATM cards. Funny enough we were just 2 that had our ATM cards with us. My other fellow passengers said they don’t use ATM. And the kidnappers said they were not releasing those without ATM. They will have to call their families to pay ransomed. I was so scared within me. “All the money I had in my account will be taken away,” I thought to myself. “How will tell my story? The money I was planning to use to startup small business.” My second account in another bank has only N23,000 in it. “Thank God I left the ATM card at home, if not they will still demand for it and will still collect the remaining money in it,” I thought to myself, because they said they will collect all the monies in our account before they release us. Even if it takes 3 or 5 five days, they will keep us there till they get what they want.

I gave them my ATM card and pins. The other man gave them his own too. It was sad because he had about 4 ATM cards with him. He gave it to them with the pins. I was so scared when two of them went to withdraw the money. I was just praying in my mind for God to perform miracle and my ATM card will just be deactivated or for it not to pay.

20 minutes later, my phone rang. One of them still with us there cut it. And it rang again and again. He asked who owns the phone. I said I was the one. He said if not because of he loved the ringtone, he would have smashed it. “So you dey watch Empire?” he asked me. I said “Yes.” My ringtone was “ready to go” by Jamal from empire. Infact I had almost all the songs used in the series. I tried to see if I could chat with him, if that will make us friendly and will turn his mind around to tell his fellow kidnappers not to withdraw my money. I told him that I have almost all the empire songs used in the movie series. He said it was nice. He asked how I got them. I told him I downloaded them online. He said he only stopped in season 2, episode 10. I told him I had watched it till episode 18 in season 2. I told him I have the whole series till the current one on my phone. I told him I could even send them to him from my phone. He smiled. He said I was not going to get my phone back. That they can only give me my sim back. He asked me the password of my phone and I told him. Na so he open the phone. 5 minutes later, he said he couldn’t find the film. I told him where he will find the series and gave him password to that folder. I believed he had challenges operating the phone. He had to give me my phone to open the folder. I was so scared as my hands shake while operating the phone. As I was swiping to get to the folder, I came across the Firstmobile app. Something in me said, “why don’t you transfer your money in First bank to your GTB account.” At first I was scared, I didn’t know if the ones that had gone to withdraw had already completed the transaction. Or in the process I was caught! I had to summon courage, on my network as fast as possible. I logged in and my N265,540 was still there in my first bank account. I transferred the money to my GT bank account. Infact the network in the area was so fast that I did everything within 45 seconds. The kidnapper that gave me my phone felt I was wasting a lot of time. He thought maybe I was sending a text message to people about the kidnap. He came I asked why I was still wasting time. I told him I was still on it as I had already logged out and opened the empire movie folder for me.

Barely 15 minutes time, they received a call from the ones that went to withdraw that my account has only N540. Nothing dey there. They said they were going to hold me there. I began pleading that I am just a corper.

After 3 hours, I was released but my phone and other stuff in my wallet was taken. My NYSC I.D card was also given to me. They said they just released me because I had nothing to offer. I was able to leave the environment only to discover I was in Bayelsa state. And that was how First bank app saved me from being duped by kidnappers.

Politics / What F.G, Nigerians, Media Should Learn From The Recent Shooting In U.S by onismate: 8:06am On Jul 09, 2016
I am not writing this to incite violence neither do I want Abuse the current Government of Nigeria. But with what is going on in U.S and how the Government of America is handling the issues, it leaves to show that we are far behind in Nigeria. We have so many things to learn from Government wise, politically, socially, technologically, security and other positive things.
Here are some few things I learnt about the situation in U.S and how they are handling it.
If it were to be in Nigeria here the situation happened, the PDP would have started blaming the APC government. The APC themselves would apportion blame to the previous administration. And the media war of blames would begin. But look at the U.S, I never saw the Republicans and Democrats blaming each other but rather, the political class are more united to bring this situation to final solution. Americans are more united now.
President Obama of U.S had brought out statements twice, first condemning the killing of the two innocent blacks in an inappropriate way. And the second statement, killing of the police officers. He wasn’t racial in all his statements. He maintained that the judicial system of America would investigate the killing of the two unarmed blacks and the police officers. All these statements were made within two days. He came to calm down the tension. But here in Nigeria my country, President Buhari will not say anything. He would rather remain silent. I could remember the case of Agatu community in Benue state where Fulani herds men almost wiped off the entire community, no statements from the F.G was released. It took human rights organizations, Nigerians and media to heat it so angrily before the Government brought up an investigation panel. Even the one of Enugu. What about IPOB!
President Obama wasn’t the only one speaking. The Attorney general spoke. Dallas mayor spoke. So many political heavy weights in America are speaking, condemning the attacks. None of them are being racial or inciting violence even when they knew the election was around the corner, it’s an opportunity for candidates to score cheap points. But yet, American politicians are resolute on their believe and love for the country. They never criticized each other. Unlike a certain Governor, Shettima of Borno state who openly criticized Former President Jonathan when he was in power. He blasted him on CNN over the kidnap of Chibok girls. This is a Governor that the girls were kidnapped in his own state oo.
Another thing I learnt from this American incident was the detailed information the security and other proper agencies gave. We were told that five cops died and about 17 injured and receiving treatments. But here in Nigeria, all the security agencies will give us contradicting reports of the number of deaths and wounded. The police may say 30 died and 100 wounded. DSS will come with their own, 14 died and 7 injured. Then Army will still bring their own before the Nigerian media will finally conclude it with the highest confusion.
I also learnt that the shooter of the cops was clamped down with a robotic ammunition. The security agencies didn’t send their men to go hunt him. Trust America nah. They have all the weapons and ammunitions. They only sent a robot with an ammunition to strike the shooter right there. Wetin Nigeria get! We don’t even manufacture ammunitions that solves our problems. Other countries are advancing, while we create parts of Armored tanks and we will celebrate it on TV. After that, do they even use them? That is to tell you that in America you don’t commit a crime and easily get away with it. But here in Nigeria, everything is just so easy. In Nigeria, perpetrators of crime is difficult to catch. It will take our security agencies ages to catch innocent citizens claiming they are perpetrators of the crime. But look at the U.S, they caught him, they even got his photos and data. But in Nigeria, security agencies will only manage to give us names (only God knows if they are the real perpetrators), no photo graphs or I.Ds of the people.
The Nigerian media is another problem on their own. Poor journalism, lack of investigation. I watched as American media transmitted, followed up this situation back to back. But in Nigerian cases, the twitter warriors and Facebook vocal lords would have flooded the air space with lies, propaganda, bullying and vocal violence that can incite violence physically. The Nigerian media would only make the situation political and partisan.
With all these things, I thing we have lots of things to work on in our dear country Nigeria. We need unity, peace and loyalty to our dear nation.

Politics / Oproama: How Dirty, Deserted This Oil Producing Community In Rivers Is by onismate: 9:56am On Jul 06, 2016
Welcome to Oproama, a riverine community in Asari Toru local Government in Rivers state. Oproama community is surrounded by water, but a lonely island far from mainland of development. Making it an abandoned treasure and oil base.

The first time I arrived this community for my NYSC primary assignment, I felt this unimaginable love for this community even when the environment seem dry and far from Government recognition, development for an oil producing community. This is a community Shell, a global oil company explores oil, and yet Oproama can’t boost of electricity power supply for over one year. I came into this community to serve my country in November 2015, I didn’t see any traces of electricity power supply. Now am rounding up, this is July 2016 and yet Oproama is still in darkness. Light never come there.

Going to Oproama is by boat. When you are coming to Oproama community, just forget about mobile network communication. Once you land at the community jetty, the mobile network on your phone flies out as if you are on “lonely island” without communication. There is poor service for the 4 main telecom network in Nigeria in that community. Even when there is any form of network for the networks in terms of calls, it fluctuates, comes and goes like PHCN light that is not constant. For internet service, just forget about browsing when you come to this community.

I think the ministry of environment needs to visit this community. I just hope we won’t experience an outbreak of airborne or another form of diseases. This is because indigenes don’t have any reasonable place to empty dirts, wastes. They empty every of their waste inside their water, and they are surrounded by water. Their toilet waste is inside the water, unused thrash and other waste is that same water. And they swim the water, get fishes from this same water. A close observation when visiting this community, one will discover that the entrance of the jetty is smelling due to wasted deposited into the water. In as much as Corp members posted to that area are trying their best on sensitization, alternative ways of depositing their waste products, the Government needs to do something positive so that indigenes won’t be empting their dirts into the water. Ofcourse it’s a flowing water which channels to other areas. When dirts are being emptied into the water, it moves to another place. Some one might say it’s okay since it’s a flowing water so the dirts are not static. But it’s not. What of the dirts that is coming into the community! It’s water pollution and so many uses the water to bath. Any outbreak in the water, it spreads too.
Every morning when I see some youths who will refuse to do anything tangible with their lives, but rather play football all morning, get their teenage girls pregnant. All because amnesty money, allowance is entering their bank accounts monthly. But notwithstanding, the ones that are ready to go to school and learn, the state of the schools in that community is not encouraging to study. Even top politicians, oil workers can’t send their children to that kind of school environment to study. And yet Government is making money from this school, getting oil. Oil companies are doing good business there.
Why can’t the Government of Nigeria help this community? Ehhh why?

Even if am not from this community, Oproama, it automatically becomes mine because am serving here and am part of the growth and development, and also share in the pain. The Government should endevour to give them a better source of clean water. Since I have been there, I have only seen just one tap which only works just once a week. Probably gives water for 30 minutes and shuts down. Then wait till another 2 weeks again. I want the Federal and state Government to visit this community. They need good health care services.

the problem we have in Nigeria right now is that many people are now blinded to crimes just because of partisan politics, Chidi Lloyd got away with attempted murder just because of Amaechi, Ojukaiye should not be allowed to get away with actual murder.

Hi
RZArecta:
Ojukaiye is a murderer and murder is not a bail able crime but of course the APC zombies and hirelings won't know that since its their fellow killer facing prison time. The details of his crimes were all over the internet during the governorship elections in Rivers state. Ojukaiye is the catalyst of the present crisis in Buguma town and the law must take its full course .

Zombies and efulefus will never understand or agree with logical reason
thank you for your great comment, thank God I was there when the did happened. The ojukaye guy is 100% guilty. Imagine a popular politician like him running a human being over with his car like an animal. This is murder case. Thank God for my life that day. It would have been me and my friends the so called politician who have killed. I am not from rivers state but I could remember that day that this incident happened. This man was ranting, almost held some corpers hostage that election day. He and his boys were ready to kill. Na so me and my friends run find our way. Before we held that he has killed someone. Let the law take its full course on this case.
