Yoruba people and their dark soul sef.

That is why they give birth to all types of monsters in their land.  Yoruba women like Ileke-Idi give birth to headless babies and frog-headed babies. Stuff you don't find in other parts of Nigeria.

That is not the question i am asking. Will the state not do everything in its power to save even a dying GOVERNOR, regardless of his medical insurance plan, let alone a dying PRESIDENT?
No, you miss the point.
Civilized states have LAWS and regulations how a president's emoluments are paid, including medical bills.
In US, a president is on salary, just like in Nigeria. But in the US, if a president falls ill, MEDICARE (which is accessible to most aging Americans ) pay it. In Nigeria, the president's aids simply start to raid the treasury. undecided

My point is that if Nigeria is a properly constituted country, it would be unnecessary for state governors to pay Ojukwu's bills (be he a private person or a president). His current status as the de facto leader of the Igbo nation ('cos that is what he is whether you accept it or not), would be unnecessary.

The problem with you irresponsible enablers of the thieving governors is that you fail to see anything wrong with their blatantly wrongful act. You accuse anyone who points your foolery out, of being hypocrtical.  Let me remind you that Umaru Yar'Adua was our head of state when state funds were used for his medical treatment. Is Ikemba the President or even a government official? The point is, these governors could have raised funds from private sources instead of stealing from the public to pay  Ojukwu's medical bills. Once again, shame on all of una!!

You people should take a queue from the principled people who stoned IBB in Zaria instead of idol worshipping him, like you are all worshipping these thieving governors.

@Onlytruth, what thread are you talking about?
Presidents in civilized countries have what is called "medical insurance", or here in the states MEDICARE.
It is for everyone.

The Nigerian president is PAID. He is on salary. He can get his own medical insurance too or whatever. He doesn't have to dip into state purse. But that is what Yar aduas thieving aids did. Now you tell me Igbo governors should not pay Ojukwu's bills. Who are you fooling?  undecided

@Second bolded, I will dig it up again. Just wait.  cool

How on earth can you compare a FG spending funds on an elected official, let alone a country's president to a government spending funds on a private citizen?

In any case, the guy is important to the people of the SE on whom the money is being spent on behalf of. . .so unless SE people raise an objections, I don't see what the problem is.

But comparisons to Yar'Adua are imo asinine.

And fwiw, I don't particularly care for either fellow.
@First bolded

This is why Nigeria is NOT YET a nation.
Hear it loud and clear: OJUKWU IS THE LEADER OF THE IGBO NATION.
We will take care of him using WHATEVER resources at our disposal.
When Nigeria completes the process of national constitution, we would then revisit how we treat people like Ojukwu.

Yar adua may be YOUR president. Ojukwu IS OURS. cool

@Second bolded is asinine cool

You escaped and stayed away from the thread where Northern politicians and governors shut down the constitutional amendment that would have allowed Nigerians to indigenize in their areas of domicile.
According to them, it was a "Igbo/Christian agenda to dominate the north". I asked you then, why should we continue to be one nation?
Hear it loud and clear, Ojukwu is the leader of the Igbo nation (if not the entire eastern region/Biafra). You can wish as much as you like; you cannot wish that away. We will use whatever resources at our disposal to take care of him for as long as God keeps him alive.  cool

Neither this thread is nor my post is about polio, in case you are too illiterate to read.  The focus is on your irresponsible governors who are illegally spending state funds. They have the ability to raise more than enough money to take care of Ikemba, but they'll rather steal from the people. I maintain that their acts are disgraceful and shameful.

If you want to open a thread about polio or any other topic, be my guest and I'll be glad to debate you. You are one of the enablers who contribute to the corruption of these thieving governors by turning a blind eye to blatant abuse. olodo.
I hate hypocrisy and your veiled attempt to treat the Igbo nation in a condescending way.
So, suddenly , you are awake to realize that state funds may be the source of the governors funds for Ojukwu's bills.
Where were you when Umaru Yar Adua was overseas for almost a year and his bills paid from the Federal government coffers? Now you are here trying to insult us with your harebrained sanctimoniousness.

What is flawless American English? Do you know that American English also have accents? That's why white Americans discrimnate against Africans and African American accents because we see no "flaw" with theirs.

For the uneducated Africans who think Americans dont have accent or that they're "flawless", watch the AMERICAN TONGUES documentary.
It cannot be described, but you know it when you hear it. It is the accents of folks like Barak Obama, and most American movies. I mean she is a girl, and she sounds like Halle Berry or Julia Roberts.  wink

I'll leave you with the following advice:

If you are Igbo, you cannot escape certain expectations and treatments from Igbo and other Nigerians. This is where parents who don't teach their kids Igbo make huge mistake. You will be tested and treated with certain expectation. If you can't speak the language, even a fellow Igbo would sell you and cheat you STEADILY. Other Nigerians might even kill you because you cannot think in ways that help Igbo survive and stay ahead of others; yet they still see you as Igbo. Double wammy! It would have been better if you weren't Igbo at all. In essence, parents who don't teach the language to their kids don't realize that they are indirectly setting up their kids for a disadvantaged life in Nigeria. Unless you don't plan to ever set foot, work or do any business in Nigeria.
CultureRe: Not Able To Speak My Language by Onlytruth(m): 3:55am On Aug 15, 2011
My little cousin (5 year old) insist on speaking Igbo to me, even though her mum is not interested.
She makes it a point to say "uncle nno" meaning "uncle welcome". Or kachifo -meaning "goodnight". I know she will soon master Igbo. Meanwhile, she speaks the most beautiful American English. Her American accent is flawless, far better than her brother's, who is not into Igbo with similar enthusiasm.

Thanks @Onlytruth. I've been watching YouTube videos, reading websites and my mom is finally teaching me new words everyday. It'll be a journey. It's sad I know Spanish better than my own language. Sigh.
Just keep on trying to master the language. Nothing is impossible for a determined mind. And never let anyone stop you or undermine you because IT IS YOUR LIFE.
In Nigeria it can mean the difference between life and death; opportunity or no-opportunity. Parents who don't teach their kids Igbo are highly irresponsible because Igbo is not like other tribes in Nigeria. Once you mention that you are Igbo, other Nigerians start looking at you to "perform the Igbo magic". But you can never perform that magic if you don't think in Igbo language. A language is the spirit driving a people. Stay steadfast in learning Igbo.
This advice is very important.

@ebonye

I'm afraid your options are very limited. I have a cousin whose kids are 7 and 5 year olds and they both can't speak Igbo either. The problem is their mum who insist on speaking only English to them. Their dad is complacent. I foresee them in 10 years time with the same problem you have. Quite sad.

You can go to Youtube.com (there are tons of Igbo tutor videos there) and see what Igbo tutor programs they have there, or websites they can refer you to. These will prepare you enough for when next you visit Igboland. Good luck. wink

Rivers state gov.
Fair question if one does not have to deal with the legacy of divide and conquer foisted on the East during and after the war.
The fact is that even Akwa Ibom and Cross River states should be paying part of that bill, afterall Ojukwu fought for the independence of Eastern Nigeria, NOT Igboland.
Now, I don't know whether it is because no one consulted them and asked for their participation in footing the bill, or that they wouldn't participate. I have come to understand that in Nigeria you must speak out loud and clear for your intended audience to understand what you really mean. My hunch tells me that they have not been consulted yet. I could be wrong.

APGA, Obi, Okorocha push for Umeh’s exist

Posted: Aug 13 2011 [12:31 pm]

The February 6, 2010 gubernatorial elections in Anambra may have shown glimpses of the dangerous trajectory the executive cabinet of the All Progressive Grand Alliance [APGA] was on as the Chairman of the Peter Obi led faction of the party labored desperately to have the Maurice Iwu led Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] accept the gubernatorial candidature of Peter Obi under the APGA with the signature of Victor Umeh as the authentic Chairman of the party. It took the intervention of Maurice Iwu who gave the suggestion that the father of the party could be allowed by the INEC to append his signature on the APGA nomination form of the party. This action enabled Governor Peter Obi avert a doomsday.

However, all did not appear to have gone settled particularly with recent developments following the addition of another governor into the list of governors flying the APGA banner. This is as the two governors, Peter Obi [of Anambra State] and Rochas Okorocha [of Imo State] sought for discussions on solutions to the problems plaguing the APGA party.

As 247ureports.com gathered through credible sources close to the two South East governors, they had wanted to begin the re-positioning of the party to enable the party attract quality memberships and for the party to be taken seriously from a national standpoint. A meeting was called by the two governors with a few members of the APGA national executive members including Victor Umeh along with some members of the Chekwas Okorie led faction.

The meeting which was held shortly following Okorocha’s victory at the polls sought to make peace between the opposing factions of the party – and to seek measures to consolidate on the strengths of the party. As 247ureports.com gathered, the response to the agenda laid down by Gov Okorocha was mixed. Governor Peter Obi accepted the reunification agenda but Chief Umeh was quick to reject the idea. The meeting unceremoniously ended.

Chief Victor Umeh, unhappy of the pending direction of the new development called his executives to air his views over the lack of appreciation shown by the two South East governors to the APGA executive over their laborings in past through their electoral exercises. He presented his reasons to the APGA executive committee why he has taken his stand against the efforts of the two governors.

The two south east governors, on their ends, turned their attention to removing Chief Victor Umeh and his executive cabinet clandestinely. Coincidentally, within weeks of the said meeting, leaflets bearing a tell-all about the faults of the Victor Umeh led executive began circulating the streets of Anambra State.  The leaflet charged the chairman with gross neglect and corruption. Specifically, it pointed to the near N2billion of party funds that had gone through the person of Victor Umeh and the numerous private properties amassed by Victor Umeh through the country.

Simultaneously, in Abuja, turmoil appeared brewing from the northern section of the party [APGA]. Groups of northern members of the party sent a protest letter to the party executive seeking for the dissolution of the executive cabinet. The group which sources in Abuja point to 247ureports.com as well funded is believed to be funded by the two governors. The group is scheduled to hold a rally/demonstration at the INEC headquarters at Zembazi Street in Maitama, Abuja against the continued unconstitutional chairmanship of Victor Umeh.

When calls were placed to the APGA offices in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, the sources at the offices told our correspondent that the ongoing fracas in the party all related to the campaign to remove the APGA Chairman. They confirmed that the Anambra State governor has a hand in the chairman’s pending removal from office.

Stay tuned
