And this is the point I exit the thread.

Here is my position again:

Igbo si na ofeke ji aka ekpe atu ulo nna ya aka!

It is not easy being an Igboman, especially in Nigeria.

Debate the issues of whether Nri is the sole religious authority in Igboland.
Abandon dubious clannish revisionism; we will all lose from it. undecided

Signing off.
Yours truly,

Onlytruth.  cool

And I will soon warn foreigners to hence forth disregard comments from some nairalanders who claim to be Igbo.
Those people have identity problems. cool

I believe in Igbo unity but not at this expense.

Why should groups that do not recognize Nri's authority be forced to see the Eze Nri being treated like a Pope while the other Eze's are mere bishops?
I'm beginning to doubt that!
Have you actually sat down to think about how difficult it must have been for Ojukwu to hold Igboland together talk less of the minorities during the war?

When you have thought about that, you would come to understand why Israel is a strong nation though patched together by religion, while we are a weak nation.

Do you think I mind if Aro is recognised at the sole Igbo authority?

I'm not from Nri, and my people may even have their own views about Nri or anyone else.
But when you start making statements about "Northern Igbo", "Eastern Igbo" and "Southern Igbo", an external enemy would be chuckling and waiting for a day he would use people like you to destroy us.  undecided

If you think you won't sell Ndigbo, go back and re-read your comments.
CultureRe: Ézè Ǹrì gi gá Frontier Culture Museum | Nigerian king to visit FCM by Onlytruth(m): 10:45pm On Jul 28, 2011
And I wonder why a mere claim of religious influence would make some Igbo groups start fuming as if they would be subjugated politically.
You see why Igbo is a weak nation today?

If you read what I wrote then you may have a problem with comprehension.

The Jewish nation you know today is only bound together by Judaism, not ancestory.

There are many groups assimilated into them over the thousands of years of their formation.

In fact this debate is part of why I called for a cultural revolution in Igboland to set some things straight and banish alien things.
The place is turning into a zoo of sorts with all kinds of claims and counter claims.
CultureRe: Ézè Ǹrì gi gá Frontier Culture Museum | Nigerian king to visit FCM by Onlytruth(m): 10:35pm On Jul 28, 2011
The way I have come to see this is like Jews for instance.

Isreal was one tribe made up of many clans within it. Even the bible account show that Israel assimilated a lot of the groups they met in the promised land, meaning that they are NOT biologically all children of Jacob.

But guess what, the most influential TILL DATE of the Israeli group is the clan of JUDA.
Hence even some countries refer to Israelites as JUDEN or JUDE.

Like I said before, folks can believe whatever they like, but please remember that when tomorrow you start fighting Yorubas and other groups on this forum.
Be reflective before you type here, else others would think you are just a fool.

Ezeagu provided his own evidence with things like Omu, igu -aro, ichi, and ikpu aru (alu), market days and new yam.
I don't know if that is all true, but I need evidence to the contrary.
Dissecting Igboland into parts is SELF DEFEATING.

Yes. Excuse yourself. You're here talking about clannish revisionism. Who is revising what when it is clear and obvious that my people have no traditions regarding Nri and any hegemony. You want to enter here and tell me about my culture and people?
Like I said before, you did not provide any evidence to the contrary. Please note that I am not supporting Nri hegemony over Igboland. We are all here to learn new things.

My angst is that you never provided any contrary evidence, rather you are busy dissecting Igboland into parts.
CultureRe: Ézè Ǹrì gi gá Frontier Culture Museum | Nigerian king to visit FCM by Onlytruth(m): 10:11pm On Jul 28, 2011
My main worry is that some of you who are busy partitioning Igboland today would wake up tomorrow to start commenting on sensitive national issues affecting the Igbo nation.
You cannot make a positive contribution to our PR when you are closet clannists.
CultureRe: Ézè Ǹrì gi gá Frontier Culture Museum | Nigerian king to visit FCM by Onlytruth(m): 10:08pm On Jul 28, 2011
Well you did not provide any evidence to the contrary of what he was saying. Rather you were busy partitioning Igboland to suit your clannish revisionism.

Go ahead anyway.

ChinenyeN

You are disappointing me with your level of LOW REASONING.

ezeagu was talking about a RELIGIOUS and CULTURAL influence of the Nri, while you and Ezeuche were fixated on POLITICAL, MILITARY AND AUTHORITY influence.

The guy gave up!

Is this discussion not about Nri hegemony? Is it not about Nri the propagated "head of Igbo culture and religion"? Is it not about Nri the so much acclaimed 'Pope' of all Igbo people?

Eze Nri flying over to U.S. to bless some museum exhibit on behalf of "Igbo people" implies A LOT.
So since when did Nri ask for tax or force you to do anything?

Just when you think that ChinenyeN is growing up in matters of Igbo, he relapses further backward like a dangerous malignant cancer! angry angry

Reading from some of my Igbo brothers here gave me a chill.

I'm not saying that Eze Nri or Eze Aro is the supreme authority in Igboland. Every thoroughbred Igboman knows whose influence is felt more in Igboland. Also, folks are really free to believe whatever they want.  undecided

What I hate is when ChinenyeN and lately EzeUche starts partitioning Igboland into Northern, Eastern and Western parts.
I can now see why we are weak in national politics. Frankly these two guys sound like Ijaw people. If you remove their names, you would think that are from a minority group. angry

Eziokwu anyi nwere nsogbu n'ala Igbo.  cry

Please debate the issues. Stop partitioning Igboland because none of us can gain from it. If anything, those partitioning Igboland would lose more. Quote me on that.  cool

A gold fish has no hiding place.
Obi should do his best. When he leaves, the succeeding governor will continue from wherever he stops.
Bottomline is that this is a very good development.

All these Obi vs Ngige mindset is sickening. We are all Anambrarians. undecided

How many of those 300 ethnic groups have a significant population, plus how many of those ethnic groups have a chance of being involved in the slave trade? Are talking about groups like Bassa which cover one village? (By the way one village would have been sold of in the slave trade, talk less of what these people's population was back then).

Ishan is among the top 20 or even 10 ethnic groups in Nigeria so it's obvious they will be tested.
Obviously some of the posters here have VERY LOW IQ. They couldn't make that judgement without someone shoving it in their faces.

@OP,

The test seems plausible. Foreigners are not as allergic to tribal identification as Nigerians. Some of the foreign companies have information about Nigeria that even the Nigerian government doesn't have.
Again they are focusing on specific areas in their research, mainly areas where slave trade took place.
PoliticsRe: The Northern Counter-coup Of 1966: The Full Story Without Bias! by Onlytruth(m): 8:17am On Jul 25, 2011
I would also advise my Igbo brothers and sisters to spend their time reflecting and changing their mindset in preparation for a next time.
Nigeria is always full of drama. There will be a next time, and current political events point to a soon encore.
Instead of wasting our time here, we could spend that time (individually) looking inwards and asking ourselves for instance how and why we let thousands of Hausa/Fulani/Yoruba leave Eastern Nigeria unharmed when they were busy murdering everyone of us in their enclaves.

The stoooopidity of that act has given me many sleepless nights. And I fear we may repeat that stooopidity again.
PoliticsRe: The Northern Counter-coup Of 1966: The Full Story Without Bias! by Onlytruth(m): 8:10am On Jul 25, 2011
LOL. This topic is the point of division in Nigeria. There is irreconcilable difference on it. That is why LESS AND LESS Igbo intellectuals are wasting their time on them. LOL. Only revisionists are eager to keep talking about it with the hope that they can justify the murder of 50,000 civilians, and the starving to death of over 2 million more civilians. Real sons and daughters of Igboland have since chiseled in the lesson of 1966 where it can never be forgiven or forgotten.  cool

My Igbo brothers, let us abandon this thread 'cos it achieves nothing. More useful threads have been moved to tribalism and racism section by nairaland tribalists moderators. Weird irony.

I lionize the man, because he did what he believed what was right for a better Nigeria. The other groups perceived it was an "Igbo coup" and that perception still lingers. It is not much we can do about that.
Well, the cultural revolution would start with people who hold your view then, because Nzeogwu was indirectly responsible for MILLIONS of Igbo deaths in Nigeria. I would not lionize him.
If Ifeajuna for instance actually plotted an "Igbo coup", I would respect him more. Fact is that people like them need to be stopped in Igboland because they did not know what they were doing.
PoliticsRe: The Northern Counter-coup Of 1966: The Full Story Without Bias! by Onlytruth(m): 8:40am On Jul 24, 2011

I would only lionize Nzeogwu if he actually did that coup to stop Igbo enemies in Nigeria. Fact is he did not.
If the January 1966 was actually an "Igbo coup", there should not have been a counter coup. EVER.

A true nwa afo Igbo!

But we do need allies or groups with similar interest. We do not have to like them, but they can assist us.
I would rather ally with a strategic African country than with any group in Nigeria.

Israel has no single ally within the middle East, yet no one dares mess with Israel there.

Until we fix ourselves and make sure we are complete from within, no relevant group ( a group that shares in our philosophy) would ally with us.

They are not necessarily in the order listed.
If I were to lead it, I would go after "love of money" first.

When you come to Igboland and nobody is answering Chief Dr Barrister . . . blah blah
things would have started changing.
PoliticsRe: The Northern Counter-coup Of 1966: The Full Story Without Bias! by Onlytruth(m): 8:20am On Jul 24, 2011
To my Igbo brothers,

We don't need to ally with anybody in Nigeria. What we need is a "cultural revolution" in Igboland.

There are too many things wrong with the way we approach life and how we chose to relate with others in the Nigerian dungeon.
We need to make FUNDAMENTAL changes in our mindset, philosophy and worldview; else, we will not survive.  undecided There have been too many wicked acts and conspiracies against us in Nigeria, yet we never return same to the perpetrators.
Some things need to die in Igboland for us to survive, and they are the following:

(1)Lack of understanding of how others see us:  We need to understand that our way of life attract envy from other humans, even non-black groups. I see it every time we organize our parties and cultural events overseas. We are different. Hence we must learn to expect hate.

(2) We are too material conscious: I have come to understand that we are a highly progressive people. However, we are mixing "quest for achievement" with "love of money". They are not the same. We can keep the former while keeping the later under check. If you excel in positive output or work, money will come. Naturally.

(3)We need to learn from our Jewish kins NEVER TO FORGIVE any crime against us: We must learn to pursue those who wronged us FOREVER till they meet their demise.

(4) We must embrace violence with a passion: We must meet our enemies at the gate with the understanding that we must keep our guns FOREVER because the way of man is violent. We should stop expecting peace when we are surrounded by deeply entrenched enemies of our survival. See how the northern coup plotters continued killing us even after they had killed the Head of state and thousands of Igbo and easterner army personnel. They still continued killing CIVILIANS in THOUSANDS. We should really go home and reflect on these.

When we are  done with this cultural revolution, we should emerge different and be like the Israelis - A people who stop their enemies BEFORE the enemy strikes. A people who win ALL their wars even in far away territories.

We can do these even now in Nigeria. If we do it right, stoopid crimes will vanish from Igboland, and we can even wake up one day to announce to the whole world that we want to secede (if that is what we want) and NOBODY would dare try to stop us.  cool
We can do these. Yes we can.
