jason12345:I still think your views are too simplistic. Yes I support Ohanaeze's endorsement of Jonathan mainly because I believe in Igbo speaking with one voice. I hate cacophony often masqueraded as republicanism. I hate chaos! So I support Uwechue and Ohanaeze. A people without visionary and purposeful leadership is finished! As for the elections however, it will be foolish to expect EVERY Igbo to vote purely according to Ohanaeze's dictates. Igbo people say that "ihe nile g'ala, mana ka osi so onye agaghi ala"(IMO/ABIA/RIVERS) "Ife nine ya ana, mana ka osi so onye aya ana" (ANAMBRA/ENUGU/DELTA) - everything else must expire, but self choice will never expire!(English) Igbo core values. So, calm down men. ![]() |
Frankly, I think that it is very very bad for any Igbo to accuse Uwechue of "selling Ndigbo" because he is from south south. This is the type of silly mindset that defeats our collective objectives in Nigeria. Anyone making such claims should have their heads examined. As I said before, Uwechue has demonstrated uncommon leadership as the head of Ohananeze, mainly because of his diplomatic and consultative skills. He never made this endorsement alone. He consulted. Of course, as Ndigbo, there will always be dissenting opinions. No one will force you to vote for anyone ultimately; but, Ndigbo must learn to speak with one voice on ANY issue in Nigeria. Of course in time, there will be a more democratic way of seeking the opinions of Igbo masses at critical times (eg, through straw polls). For now, we can make do with a broad consultation by the Ohanaeze chieftains. For the record, I have never seen Ohanaeze this organized, focused and mature for a very loooooooooong time. All credit should go to Uwechue. For me, the issue is not about Jonathan. The issue is about Igbo speaking with one powerful voice. We are gradually getting there. ![]() |
Uwechue's explanation seems very logical and credible. I know that Ohanaeze never endorsed a candidate for Nigeria's presidency in the past; I don't see why they shouldn't. When everybody is talking, nobody is talking. I hate unbridled republicanism. ![]() Ndigbo had a sense of oneness and unity during the days of the Igbo State Union. We miss that! So, if Uwechue can bring back those days, I say he should move full steam ahead! He seems like a very capable hand. He has demonstrated uncommon ability to negotiate and be very diplomatic. In my book he is emerging the best Ohanaeze president so far (sorry to my bros Ikedife). Well done Uwechue. ![]() |
Ileke-IdI:Thanks for spotting the "core idea". ![]() Now, help me educate jason12345. Thanks in advance! |
jason12345: ![]() It is like saying Benjamin Ahmadinajad. lmao. Diametrically opposed philosophically. ![]() |
aru11: Someone is trying desperately to rope Ndigbo to anti-IBB sentiments. The name sounds like an Oxymoron. |
Countries are not respected internationally because of the amount of resources (money and lives of soldiers) they WASTE on other countries. They are respected more for "speaking softly and carrying a big stick". ![]() Maybe someone has started thinking in Nigeria. |
jason12345:Guy, I really think you should spend some time to read up on Nairaland before making this type of comment. There is NO "south" in Nigeria. Here is a list of what the Igboman will fight for again in Nigeria (if necessary): (1) Biafra -Comprising of any groups that accept it. (2) Igboland - Comprising of any groups that accept it. You will not see an Igbo man/woman fight for anything else. Southern Nigeria is a myth. ![]() |
jason12345:For a people with our history in Nigeria, it is too simplistic a question to ask us. Your people never shared in our experience. So, you can answer the question. I can't. |
I don't know why jason12345 is trying so hard to push through this lie about Igbo being hostile to Ijaw or minorities. Ezeuche, you'd do well to ignore that trap. His stratagem is to keep painting Igbo as anti-Ijaw and minorities. The question is would he fight and die to defend them? That is the question. |
EzeUche0:I think it is a fair question to ask. Though I know the answer already. |
Was wondering how long that idiotic "big brother" self delusion would be allowed to go on. Can't believe that anyone would rationalize such a policy for 50 years. Maybe someone has starting using his head. |
Nigeria no longer big brother –NEC From JULIANA TAIWO, Abuja Wednesday, October 27, 2010 The National Economic Council yesterday said Nigeria will no longer play big brother to countries in trouble without getting anything in return. Briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting chaired By Vice President Namadi Sambo at the Presidential Villa, the Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, in company with his Lagos State counterpart, Babatunde Fashola and the Minister of Finance, Segun Aganga, said while Nigeria remains a responsible member of the comity of nations, it would insist on getting development benefits in return for its foreign policy commitments. According to the governor; “the Council reiterated the foreign policy objectives of the country as a new partnership for the development of Nigeria. In other words, we are going to shed that belief that we are big brother where we go to help other people and we never get something in return. Even though we may not escape from that, but now we begin to look at our foreign objectives in terms of development of Nigeria. So, wherever we go or whoever we relate with must be because it will help us develop rather than as we normally say, that we have gone to help these or that people without getting anything in return.” The NEC also discussed Nigeria’s BB- rating by international economy assessment organization, Fitch and Co., saying that although it was a downward result, there was optimism that the country was moving on the path of addressing the concerns that led to such assessment. Aganga, explained that the ratings report though “harsh”, acknowledged that Nigeria’s decision to set up a sovereign wealth fund was a good fiscal policy which would increase the country’s rating during the next assessment. According to him, “we discussed the rational for the revision of the outlook (from stable to negligible) and did not fully agree with their rationale; we believe that it was harsh. But we welcome the fact that they affirmed the credit rating that nothing has changed and the main reason for that reaffirmation or confirmation of that credit rating was that Fitch felt that the idea that set up the sovereign wealth fund was in the best interest of the country. “It is a good fiscal policy and they have indicated that they will issue a positive statement once the sovereign wealth fund bill was passed.” The minister stated further that government welcomed Fitch’s affirmation that the country has a very strong balance sheet, has a less debt ratio compared to her peers anywhere in the world and has net petrol balance. “They were impressed with the level of revenue that is going up given that we have increased production and oil prices are on the rise and also they were pleased that the current administration is also focusing on dealing with the issue of power. “As you know the President announced a roadmap for power in August this year and so all these were positive reasons why the country’s credit rating was affirmed by Fitch.” You will recall also that S& PG issued a report also a month affirmed the credit rating but their outlook was stable not negative”, Aganga added. He said final draft of the Sovereign Wealth Fund bill will be adopted at the next NEC meeting in November 4th before submitting it to the National Assembly. The Lagos State Governor, said NEC discussed the concerns regarding the legality of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) conduct in printing of license plates for vehicles. “Council was invited to consider whether mere printing of new vehicle license plate and whether it was possible to include driver’s education at the domestic levels. “They were issues of legality of the exercise being taken by FRSC, and council said they will like the input of the attorneys-general of the states and that of the federation before a decision is taken. “So as it relates to issuance of uniform new plates and driver’s licence, it is held in abeyance until further advice”. http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2010/oct/27/national-27-10-2010-0027.htm |
Olisa Agbakoba's suit is good and timely. I only disagree with the remedy he is demanding. If at all money can remedy the situation, it should not be less than $100 billion. To redress a 40 year CRIMINAL neglect of Ndigbo in Nigeria resource sharing and allocation would need some real money, not pittance. I however totally agree with the suit because it could be part of something bigger, something much much bigger. The international community is watching. |
jason12345:Why not allow me to live with my "delusion"? I'm not complaining. ![]() Nigeria's history is self explanatory. |
jason12345:You are a grass-chewing goat to even insinuate that Biafra has ANYTHING to do with you. As for the invasion thing that you are so SCARED STIFF about (lol I can see through your FEAR), as long as you don't try what you did in 1967, you'd be fine. The betrayal part has long been settled in our (Igbo) mindset. You'd need a TITANIUM chisel to remove it from our mind. So learn to live with it. |
jason12345:Guy, you are really smoking something quite strong! LoL.Who are you fooling with your "I just joined nairaland"? Wait I'll soon create another username and "join nairaland". I stand by what I said before, and if you notice, most Igbo are not even bothering to comment on your idiotic thread "Biafra". You just knock yourself out. ![]() Like I said, NOBODY can gang up against Ndigbo in Nigeria EVER again. And all this talk about Igbo "invading your land" is just pure idiocy. We never INVADED your land. If we did, you won't be here to tell the story. |
Again, do I believe that 1966 can happen again in Nigeria? ABSOLUTELY YES! All the signs are there. The main issue for me is, how should Ndigbo react to it? I can say now with every emphasis that Ndigbo will do well to look southwards FIRST before even looking up north. I dare any southern slowpoke to try us next time. ![]() |
jason12345:My friend sharap dia. ![]() Who told you I'm in the US? But even of I am. Idiots like you will soon start saying that Nigerians in diaspora have no right to discuss Nigerian affairs. Weren't you the slowpoke that was asking me the other day why I am so pessimistic about Nigeria? ![]() Didn't you just start a thread about Biafra, trying to justify the betrayal your people perpetrated against Ndigbo? Whenever you guys talk about a "southern Nigeria" I fall off my chair laughing. ![]() You would do well to stop listening to the Katsumotos of nairaland. Not that I care though. ![]() |
Katsumoto:You sound like a broken record. "Victim mentality". I'm sure in your book, the state of Israel also suffers from victim mentality. There is nothing wrong in probing and studying your enemies to know them well. It only gives you advantage in the day of evil. I hope my "victim mentality" gives me the upper hand next time in Nigeria, 'cos it will happen. |
PhysicsMHD:A wise man once told me that if you see a man talking at length to respond to a simple question, he is trying to sell a windy point. ![]() I thought I had already agreed with you that Edo people are irrelevant to whatever the Igbo would plan next in Nigeria. So what are your long lines about? ![]() As far as I'm concerned, NOBODY can ever gang up against Ndigbo again in Nigeria. |
^^^ My friend move over. You are taking yourself too seriously. ![]() Your angst is that I referred to you as minority. Well, YOU ARE MINORITY. Go hang if you can't live with that. You must really be deluded to think that Igbo care about what your think. ![]() Yes, you are microscopic. L.O.L. You are insignificant to whatever the Igboman would plan next in Nigeria. Gerrit? ![]() |
houvest:Don't mind that piece of crap. ![]() |
@ PhysicsMHD Hate is a powerful thing. It can even make an otherwise intelligent person a complete GOAT. You are beating your chest that I dared to offer possible common national destiny to as many southern and eastern groups as possible. You conveniently forgot that I also said that my reason for proposing that was out of fear of a gang-up against Ndigbo (like in 1967), because even now, I believe that anytime Ndigbo secedes from Nigeria, the country will not continue. I feared that this will make idiotic groups once again try to gang up to stop Ndigbo from seceding. Deep down your moronic mind, you know that is the truth. You come here to display open ended idiocy. ![]() Whatever dude. At least now I have actually thought about taking care of such gang up in a different way which I will not discuss here. If you had any brains you would have noticed that it was ONLY ME making that proposal, out of all Igbos commenting on that thread. Why didn't other Igbos propose it, since you are the best thing every discovered? ![]() You will get to stay on your own whether you like it or not. |

So, even if you give us one in Delta, Anambra or wherever, we still need one at Enugu for OBVIOUS reasons. |
^^^ Another "mutant" username/poster. ![]() To all who cares to listen, Ndigbo NEEDS an International airport at ENUGU. ![]() chyz: |
