@ topic

haaa!!! finally!!!!! these are the igbos i knew! grin. i said it, they will always defend the truth even if its against their political interest.  may GOD reward the true igbos grin.

onlytruth, can you see people are individuals?, because someone from ohaneze said, 'igbos will support IBB' does not mean igbos will.

same with the yorubas, if opc or afenifere, supports someone, it does not mean we will automatically support him.

these ohaneze are trying to sell the "igbo" vote to the highest bidder regardless of the policy.

you and I know that IBB will not give the igbos presidency 2015 grin, he will do his 8 yrs before he passes it to another northerner not igbos.

all he is doing, is to play with peoples emotions cause he knows that igbos want the presidency and he is using that as his political ladder.

the question is igbos should ask him is if he support an igbo president in nigeria, why not do it now? why after he becomes the president?

my brothers (whether you like it or not, you ALL are still my brothers grin) whether you are igbo, yoruba or hausa, lets protect our votes. one man one vote, IBB HAS NOTHING TO OFFER NIGERIA!!!
I still think your views are too simplistic.

Yes I support Ohanaeze's endorsement of Jonathan mainly because I believe in Igbo speaking with one voice. I hate cacophony often masqueraded as republicanism. I hate chaos! So I support Uwechue and Ohanaeze.
A people without visionary and purposeful leadership is finished!

As for the elections however, it will be foolish to expect EVERY Igbo to vote purely according to Ohanaeze's dictates.

Igbo people say that "ihe nile g'ala, mana ka osi so onye agaghi ala"(IMO/ABIA/RIVERS) "Ife nine ya ana, mana ka osi so onye aya ana" (ANAMBRA/ENUGU/DELTA) - everything else must expire, but self choice will never expire!(English)

Igbo core values.

So, calm down men.  cool
PoliticsRe: Ohaneze Solidly Behing Ibb - Obinna Uzoh by Onlytruth(m): 5:26pm On Oct 28, 2010
Frankly, I think that it is very very bad for any Igbo to accuse Uwechue of "selling Ndigbo" because he is from south south. This is the type of silly mindset that defeats our collective objectives in Nigeria. Anyone making such claims should have their heads examined.

As I said before, Uwechue has demonstrated uncommon leadership as the head of Ohananeze, mainly because of his diplomatic and consultative skills. He never made this endorsement alone. He consulted. Of course, as Ndigbo, there will always be dissenting opinions. No one will force you to vote for anyone ultimately; but, Ndigbo must learn to speak with one voice on ANY issue in Nigeria.

Of course in time, there will be a more democratic way of seeking the opinions of Igbo masses at critical times (eg, through straw polls). For now, we can make do with a broad consultation by the Ohanaeze chieftains.

For the record, I have never seen Ohanaeze this organized, focused and mature for a very loooooooooong time. All credit should go to Uwechue. For me, the issue is not about Jonathan. The issue is about Igbo speaking with one powerful voice. We are gradually getting there.  cool
PoliticsRe: Ohaneze Solidly Behing Ibb - Obinna Uzoh by Onlytruth(m): 7:27am On Oct 28, 2010
Uwechue's explanation seems very logical and credible. I know that Ohanaeze never endorsed a candidate for Nigeria's presidency in the past; I don't see why they shouldn't. When everybody is talking, nobody is talking. undecided I hate unbridled republicanism.  undecided
Ndigbo had a sense of oneness and unity during the days of the Igbo State Union. We miss that! So, if Uwechue can bring back those days, I say he should move full steam ahead!  cool He seems like a very capable hand. He has demonstrated uncommon ability to negotiate and be very diplomatic. In my book he is emerging the best Ohanaeze president so far (sorry to my bros Ikedife). Well done Uwechue.  cool cool

Guy, I really think you should spend some time to read up on Nairaland before making this type of comment.

There is NO "south" in Nigeria. Here is a list of what the Igboman will fight for again in Nigeria (if necessary):

(1) Biafra -Comprising of any groups that accept it.
(2) Igboland - Comprising of any groups that accept it.

You will not see an Igbo man/woman fight for anything else. Southern Nigeria is a myth.  cool

I don't know why jason12345 is trying so hard to push through this lie about Igbo being hostile to Ijaw or minorities.

Ezeuche, you'd do well to ignore that trap. His stratagem is to keep painting Igbo as anti-Ijaw and minorities.

The question is would he fight and die to defend them? That is the question.

Nigeria no longer big brother –NEC

From JULIANA TAIWO, Abuja
Wednesday, October 27, 2010

The National Economic Council yesterday said Nigeria will no longer play big brother to countries in trouble without getting anything in return. Briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting chaired By Vice President Namadi Sambo at the Presidential Villa, the Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, in company with his Lagos State counterpart, Babatunde Fashola and the Minister of Finance, Segun Aganga, said while Nigeria remains a responsible member of the comity of nations, it would insist on getting development benefits in return for its foreign policy commitments.

According to the governor; “the Council reiterated the foreign policy objectives of the country as a new partnership for the development of Nigeria. In other words, we are going to shed that belief that we are big brother where we go to help other people and we never get something in return. Even though we may not escape from that, but now we begin to look at our foreign objectives in terms of development of Nigeria. So, wherever we go or whoever we relate with must be because it will help us develop rather than as we normally say, that we have gone to help these or that people without getting anything in return.”

The NEC also discussed Nigeria’s BB- rating by international economy assessment organization, Fitch and Co., saying that although it was a downward result, there was optimism that the country was moving on the path of addressing the concerns that led to such assessment.

Aganga, explained that the ratings report though “harsh”, acknowledged that Nigeria’s decision to set up a sovereign wealth fund was a good fiscal policy which would increase the country’s rating during the next assessment.
According to him, “we discussed the rational for the revision of the outlook (from stable to negligible) and did not fully agree with their rationale; we believe that it was harsh. But we welcome the fact that they affirmed the credit rating that nothing has changed and the main reason for that reaffirmation or confirmation of that credit rating was that Fitch felt that the idea that set up the sovereign wealth fund was in the best interest of the country.

“It is a good fiscal policy and they have indicated that they will issue a positive statement once the sovereign wealth fund bill was passed.”
The minister stated further that government welcomed Fitch’s affirmation that the country has a very strong balance sheet, has a less debt ratio compared to her peers anywhere in the world and has net petrol balance.

“They were impressed with the level of revenue that is going up given that we have increased production and oil prices are on the rise and also they were pleased that the current administration is also focusing on dealing with the issue of power.
“As you know the President announced a roadmap for power in August this year and so all these were positive reasons why the country’s credit rating was affirmed by Fitch.”

You will recall also that S& PG issued a report also a month affirmed the credit rating but their outlook was stable not negative”, Aganga added.
He said final draft of the Sovereign Wealth Fund bill will be adopted at the next NEC meeting in November 4th before submitting it to the National Assembly.
The Lagos State Governor, said NEC discussed the concerns regarding the legality of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) conduct in printing of license plates for vehicles.

“Council was invited to consider whether mere printing of new vehicle license plate and whether it was possible to include driver’s education at the domestic levels.
“They were issues of legality of the exercise being taken by FRSC, and council said they will like the input of the attorneys-general of the states and that of the federation before a decision is taken.
“So as it relates to issuance of uniform new plates and driver’s licence, it is held in abeyance until further advice”.

Olisa Agbakoba's suit is good and timely. I only disagree with the remedy he is demanding. If at all money can remedy the situation, it should not be less than $100 billion. To redress a 40 year CRIMINAL neglect of Ndigbo in Nigeria resource sharing and allocation would need some real money, not pittance.

I however totally agree with the suit because it could be part of something bigger, something much much bigger.

PhysicsMHD:
Did you even understand what I posted? This isn't about me being offended about being called a minority, lol @ that. I even referred to my group as a minority multiple times, which it IS, thank GOD, I don't want my group having any larger responsibility for the pathetic state of Nigeria beyond its individual state as no one in their right mind could ever point to a group of people who were natural state builders and developers and able to acquire wealth and adopt foreign knowledge to suit themselves well when left to themselves and actually assert that they are nothing without Nigeria. The statements that any particular group should be included in Biafra to prevent a "gang-up" and the statement that they are of no significance are of a contradictory nature. If they are the latter, don't be foolish enough to support their "liberation" into a common destiny and don't bother to dream of including them in your ideal republic.

The crux of it all, you dummy, is that insofar as this or that particular minority is insignificant to you it should NEVER be included in your affairs, but a certain Okonkwo and his superiors, and now you, are actually silly enough to think differently. You can not pull some nonsensical facade about how some minority must join Biafra in order to prevent a gang-up and at the same time spew rubbish about the insignificance of such groups and still be taken for anything other than a fool. If they are insignificant they are not even to be used by you unless they have any intention of joining you. The Eastern region of Nigeria was a completely artificial structure with no more inherent validity than the Nigerian state itself and yet somebody had the nerve to think that some of the  insignificant peoples therein had to be wedded to Biafra over very clear objections while claiming the Biafran area need not be wedded to Nigeria. If you think there will be a gang-up against Biafra, think logically about why this would be before you spew rubbish here. If this new Biafra were to invade an entire region of insignificants under the pretext of "liberation," in the middle belt on their way to take out the head of state in Abuja without any prior agreement with the middle belt and the north that said government should be overthrown, in these modern times-nevermind any area of the former Midwest-the same gang up would probably happen. If within the East some did not want a common destiny with Biafra, what makes you think people outside of it would feel Biafra was of any significance to them? Get it through your head you dunce that "insignificant" groups such as my own who don't ask for nor care to know what this or that major ethnic group think or feel about our indifference to Biafra need not bother to hear double-speakers yarn about how so many people in their state should join Biafra when their insignificant selves have no desire to do so.

Who says I care "what the Igboman would plan next in Nigeria"? Let the Igboman worry about what the Igboman would plan next in Nigeria. It will, after all, be his plan to worry to about. Those who are indifferent to these plans cannot possibly care, until some neo-Ojukwu makes the mistake of repeating the mistakes of 1967 and tries to tell his comrades that a group of people who are a microscopic minority to him should share a common destiny with them in order for them to achieve their goals.

In the future don't pretend that you're anybody who's thoughts are capable of extending beyond his tribe and don't throw out "offers" from one side of your mouth to other groups who you are of no more significance to than the other side of your mouth states they are to you.

I would respond to you further but you've already demonstrated that there are limits to your competence and it would be a fallacy to pretend a mere business "mogul" like yourself (as you keep alluding to in various posts) and somebody who has certainly thought about much deeper and more complex things in one hour than you will in your entire life could ever be on the same level of thought.
A wise man once told me that if you see a man talking at length to respond to a simple question, he is trying to sell a windy point.  undecided undecided

Hate is a powerful thing. It can even make an otherwise intelligent person a complete GOAT.
You are beating your chest that I dared to offer possible common national destiny to as many southern and eastern groups as possible.

You conveniently forgot that I also said that my reason for proposing that was out of fear of a gang-up  against Ndigbo (like in 1967), because even now, I believe that anytime Ndigbo secedes from Nigeria, the country will not continue. I feared that this will make idiotic groups once again try to gang up to stop Ndigbo from seceding. Deep down your moronic mind, you know that is the truth.
