I've been laughing my head off reading through this thread. ![]() Don't worry Beaf, Delta state is not far behind. ![]() I'll ask my folks in Nnewi to conduct a survey on human resources (from professors to businessmen to politicians), banks, buildings, schools (primary, secondary and tertiary) and industries (light, medium and heavy). We may beat Ekiti sef. lmao! ![]() |
adconline:The biggest irony is that most of these Alaba boys have super decent houses (homes really) in the east. Lagos will end up being a "market" for Anambra and Igbo boys while "home" will be built in the East. We hustle in Lagos, and "eat" in the East. lmao! If you need a rope, I'd be happy to "donate" one. |
I have a real bad news for the Babapupas of nairaland. Anambra state is only warming up! Okay, jump into that well. ![]() |
Akin-Egba:Chinaemeze simply means "only God crowns a king". |
So the Ohanaeze endorsement is very real. |
South-East PDP to endorse Jonathan today By CLIFFORD NDUJIHE Barring last-minute manoeuvres, the South-East Zone of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is expected to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan to fly the party’s flag at the 2011 presidential polls, today. This is one of the issues slated for discussion by the South-East PDP at Nike Lake Hotel, Enugu, according to sources. Other matters include how to improve the fortunes of the PDP in the zone in the forthcoming polls and the current wave of kidnapping in the zone among others. The endorsement is expected to be the icing on the cake of President Jonathan’s ambition. The South-West PDP and Governors of the South-East recently endorsed Jonathan for the plum job. The Igbo apex socio-cultural body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday endorsed Jonathan. In a four-paragraph statement, President General of the group, Amb. Ralph Uwechue, Ohanaeze noted that Nigeria became independent on the basis of a tripod – North, West and East, which has metamorphosed into six geo-political zones and opposed power rotation on the basis of North and South. It said power should rotated among the six geo-political zones with the South-East having it after the South-South, in an unbroken succession. ‘Ohanaeze Ndigbo firmly believes in the reality and absolute equality of the six zones and holds the view that the topmost executive office in the land – Prime Minister or President, which has eluded the two geo-political zones of South-South and South-East since the birth of our nation half a century ago, should now go to them in turn in unbroken succession as a matter of national priority, before any other zone can justly claim the right to a second or even third turn. In line with this position, taken after wide consultation over several months, among Igbo people at home and abroad, Ohanaeze Ndigbo confidently urges the Igbo Nation to support en masse a credible new generation presidential candidate that has emerged from the South-South geo-political zone, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan,’ Uwechue said. Expected at the South-East gathering fixed for 3 p.m, according to a statement by Chief Olisa Metuh (national vice chairman, South-East) are PDP National Chairman, Okwesilieze Nwodo and Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu. Others include Chief Whip of the House of Representative, Zonal Working Committee members, Board of Trustees members, present and past governors/deputy governors who are still in PDP, present and past National Assembly members that are still in the party, present and past ministers, present and past speakers and deputy speakers of state Houses of Assembly and present and past state chairmen of the party. Some of those expected at the meeting were in the entourage of President Jonathan yesterday as he toured the zone. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/10/south-east-pdp-to-endorse-jonathan-today/ |
wesley80:Whatever cooks your soup dude! @Topic I personally noticed that this Ohanaeze endorsement did not go down well with certain folks. . One of them glibly quipped "kini big deal". ![]() C'mon guys, don't commit suicide. ![]() As for me, any arrangement that brings federal presence (including presidency) to the East is good enough for me. Everything else takes the back seat until we (south south/East) have enjoyed 16 years of presidential power. ![]() Now dodge! here they come! rotfl! ![]() |
wesley80:^^^ My friend move out of the way! Some of you are too lazy to even read comments. Have you even read anything I posted here? And as a typical coward you always wait for me to log out before coming to yap nonsense. This is what swayed me today. I can still change tomorrow. ![]() READ for once! Ohanaeze Ndigbo however said that it firmly believes in the reality and absolute equality of the six zones and holds the view that the topmost executive office in the land Prime Minister or President, which has eluded the two geo-political zones of South-South and South-East since the birth of the nation a century ago, should now go to them in turn in unbroken succession.I support any candidate that would ensure an Igbo man becomes president in the shortest time possible. Call me whatever you want. I don't share views with you. Learn to live with it! ![]() |
Na wa for folks! I can now see that jealousy beclouds most minds here. What is wrong in this statement? Didn't he state the obvious? ![]() If you want to jump into a well, go ahead! Which state in Nigeria can boast of the same number of human resources as Anambra? |
wesley80:To further disappoint you and your sidekick (Kobo), I would still change position tomorrow if events change! lmao. You have to live with my Nigerian history molded whims. ![]() Another lesson you should learn is that pride and politics don't mix. ![]() That is why I insist most of you guys are kids. |
asha 80:Dude, okay here it is again. Onlytruth:This should be a no-brainer really. It is like the ABCD of politics. I'm beginning to think that folks here are kids. ![]() Events are unfolding DAILY. If Jonathan wakes up tomorrow to show signs that he would cheat Ndigbo, do you think I would continue this support? ![]() Frankly, I'm beginning to see why some people are saying that nairaland is full of clueless kids. ![]() If you pull my comments and find one message, that message will likely be that I support ANYONE that will (verifiably) defend the interest of Ndigbo. |
asha 80:You really expect me to answer this? ![]() Nna na wa o! |
@Topic, This endorsement should not surprise any student of politics in Nigeria. When this issue of zoning was first discussed (under Abacha, then Adusalami), the north wanted zoning to be between north and south, while south east and south south argued strongly for zoning along geopolitical lines. The north had their way because they were in control of government. However, the situation today has vindicated the earlier position of south east and south south. If you read between the lines, you would notice that if the north had their way, no Igbo man would ever see Aso rock, because they would support a southerner that is not Igbo. Who is fooling who. ![]() Power should rotate along geopolitical lines. If the north agreed to that before, we won't have the current "problem" to deal with. That is the underlying position of Ohanaeze. |
Kobojunkie:If you notice I have been ignoring you because you are goofy as always. ![]() A day in politics is a millennium in real life. So, head back to school of politics. ![]() |
asha 80:There is nothing funny in my stance. If you have contrary view, why not write them out for us to appraise? Why can't folks comment without insults? I said that Ohanaeze's endorsement is not illogical because I have not seen sincerity on the side of the north on zoning. What is your view? |
More than ever, I see a solid reason to support Jonathan. He is our best practical hope for justice and equity in Nigeria. Ohanaeze is right this time. |
I must say at this stage that I would not be surprised by an Ohanaeze endorsement of Jonathan. They would do so for a number of reasons, and I have personally noticed those reasons. You need to read between the lines whenever a northern politician is interviewed in depth on zoning. Here is the main point about Ohanaezes endorsement: Ohanaeze Ndigbo however said that it firmly believes in the reality and absolute equality of the six zones and holds the view that the topmost executive office in the land Prime Minister or President, which has eluded the two geo-political zones of South-South and South-East since the birth of the nation a century ago, should now go to them in turn in unbroken succession.I completely agree with the bolded. I have not seen any signs from the north that they would accept such arrangement. So, in effect, Nigeria is coming to a head about justice and equity in the management of power at the center. Ohanaeze is not a body of kids. The recent Anambra visit by Jonathan featured all the governors of the East including delta and Edo states. The import of that is not lost to close observers. You can all see that my support of Ohanaeze here is for a solid reason. We cannot understand Nigerian politics more than these guys. And yes, they are our (Igbo) fathers. ![]() |
I support the decision of my fathers in Ohanaeze. Ndigbo, please let us support our leaders. Though we always pride ourselves in being individualistic, there comes a time when one must act together with his kinsmen, for good or ill. There is no way an individual would be always wiser than his entire community. Umu nna bu ike! ![]() So, I hearby drop my support for other candidates. |
Ikenga dike 1 of Anaedo ![]() Ndu di n'eziokwu 1 of Igboland ![]() |
Katsumoto:I have to agree with you. Imagine Akala winning a free and fair elections. I doubt that. PDP is pure evil. Be ready to fight though. That is how we caged PDP in Anambra state. The fight is not for the faint-hearted. |

kildran:No my friend, you are seeing it the other way round. Why is EFCC in the business of stopping people from contesting elections? Is that their primary duty? How many politicians have they sent to jail since Ribadu? And why are their victims always political opponents of the incumbent president? Why are the most corrupt Nigerian politicians both serving and retired walking around free? Those are the questions I need answered. EFCC was used to stop Odili and others you pointed out. Have you wondered why? Wasn't it because Obasanjo suddenly realized that he had no choice than to return the presidency to the north in 2007? Who is fooling who? |
Ileke-IdI:hahaha! ![]() He used it to explain why Yoruba's don't fight for what they believe in like Igbos and Ijaws. He was arguing that Yoruba's should stop thinking like that. Well, the proverb makes sense only if the coconut is not threatening your life! It may be a situation of damned if you do, and fkcd if you don't! The Igbo on the other hand say that "adighi eji mgbagbu aghara ogu" -you should not avoid war because of a chance of being killed in it. Quite a contrast. Oh well, it is well. Thanks for interpreting. Cool lady. ![]() |
kildran:So what is the difference between what is happening now and what happened in 2006? Why is EFCC waking up now to say this? So their job is no longer to arrest and try financial thieves in Nigeria? The EFCC's job now is to stop them from contesting elections? C'mon! We're not all dumb y'know. |
@Ileke-IdI I need you to translate this Yoruba proverb: ENI TO BA FI ORI RE FAGBON, KONI BAWON JE NIBE I was from na2day! yesterday. Thanks! |
chosen04:GEJ can't even think up a smoother way to distract his political opponents. What can that guy do without consulting OBJ? He is becoming too predictable. In fact I can tell his next moves. I'd simply dust up OBJs playbook. ![]() |
jude33084:The list should begin with OBJ and all his god sons including GEJ. Any list minus these folks would be pure nonsense. |
What are these reps up to and where have they been when all the pillaging happened. What is their own role, because I don't buy this holier than thou gambit. The only truth here is that our economy is being ravaged. Soludo pretty much said the same thing, but was shouted down by a dubious federal government. ![]() |
I thought the minister of finance said that Nigeria's economy is the third fasting growing economy in the world? ![]() It seems the nation is in the grip of 419ers these days! Nna na wa o! Who is looking after our money? ![]() The EFCC is busy chasing political opponents of the president while our coffers is being pillaged by vandals. Our nation is in the grip of scoundrels. ![]() |
Reps raise alarm on dwindling Nigerian economy Written by Idowu Samuel, Abuja Friday, 15 October 2010 The House of Representatives, on Thursday, took a critical look at the state of the nation’s economy which it said had been in shambles owing to negligence by the Federal Government. The House said the budget performance has been woeful, most especially in the current fiscal year, noting that with less than 40 per cent level of implementation, ministries and agencies of government could not have done much in running the economy. It raised the alarm on the consistent depletion of national revenue as well as drastic reduction in the excess crude account of the federation, noting that all have been showing signs of near collapse of the Nigerian economy. The House said the government had been making releases to ministries and agencies, lamenting rather that most of the releases were not utilised. It alluded to the cases of Ministry of Water Resources, which it said got close to N161 billion in national budget whereas it had up till now not got more than 30 per cent of the fund; the Ministry of Education, which had N97 billion in the budget and had not been able to assess up to N20 billion and the Ministry of Health, which got N67 billion and had not been able to obtain more than N16 billion of the lump sum. The House, through its Committee on Finance addressed the media, stressing that the 45 per cent drop in national revenue in the previous year was a bad omen for the country, even as it expressed outrage that all the revenue generating agencies of government had been short-changing Nigeria with the paltry sums they had been remitting into the national coffers. The committee chairman, Honourable Johan Eno, who addressed the media, noted that in the past three years, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigerian Customs and Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) had failed to remit over N3 trillion into the national treasury. http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/12176-reps-raise-alarm-on-dwindling-nigerian-economy |
Now, this news is REALLY suspicious to me. ![]() Why is EFCC waking up now to talk about disqualifying people? This is exactly like Obasanjo days. ![]() Who will be affected and what is the criteria for selecting them? ![]() |
EFCC to disqualify 54 PDP aspirants GOMBE—IN its determination to stop corrupt politicians from participating in the 2011 general elections, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, identified 54 corrupt aspirants on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP. The commission said it has forwarded their names to the party to disqualify them from contesting for any public offices. Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment to the EFCC Chairman, Dr. Abubakar Othman, who disclosed this during a courtesy call on Governor Danjuma Goje, however, did not name affected aspirants but promised that the same thing would be done for other political parties. Othman said he was in support of death penalty for corrupt practices, stressing that such measure was imperative, considering the damage done to the nation by corruption. He noted: “If you consider the quantum of money stolen by such persons and the attendant hardship inflicted on the ordinary people, one sees a clear manifestation of animalistic behaviour.’’ While assuring that the commission was not going back on its decision to bar corrupt politicians from contesting in the 2011 general elections, he stressed that the commission’s decision to bar corrupt politicians was being “misconstrued’’ in some quarters who were bent on dissuading the anti-graft agency from sanitising the nation’s polity. Othman said the EFCC was determined to carry out its plan in the best interest of the country, adding that the commission had been keeping a tab on the financial transactions involving some corrupt politicians currently aspiring to contest in the 2011 elections. He said the commission would stand in the way of corrupt officials to electoral success adding that the EFCC planned to work with the political parties and INEC in disqualifying corrupt aspirants, “but if all else fails, their names will be made public.” Othman said the commission had embarked on public enlightenment across the country to ensure that Nigerians were duly informed on the need to elect credible politicians into public office. Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Bage, who represented the governor, said the state government would support the commission’s actions that were deemed to be in the overall interest of the country. The EFCC team was in Gombe on enlightenment tour of the state. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/10/efcc-to-disqualify-54-pdp-aspirants/ |
