Like most clever folks on nairaland have already observed, Iwu is not the problem-INEC appointments and funding is. I'm still happy that Iwu is gone though, at least that will finally prove his innocence (if you like). Bro Jo seems to be learning the "do or die" ropes from his master OBJ. I will remind him of The Igbo saying that "a bird with a weak skull must not engage the woodpecker in a fight". I hope bro Jo has strong skull! To me this seems like a move to checkmate the PDP governors who were resolutely behind Ogbulafor and the PDP zoning formula. By removing Iwu, most of these governors will panic and may start retracting from backing Ogbulafor and the zoning formula. Bro Jo will likely replace Iwu with his ally. These governors are not sure of winning elections without a proven partner in crime at INEC. If Jonathan really wants to solve our electoral problems, the Uwais report is there. Until we see some motion in that direction, we wait with bated breath. ![]() |
otukpo:I knew that this Ohakim of a fellow must have some serious character flaws. He is openly trying to scam unemployed people of Imo state, and thinks no one will notice. What breaks my heart mostly is how this man often sweet-talk his way into the hearts of unsuspecting people. Stop listening to Ohakim, just watch his actions, all his actions are marked by fraud and moral decadence. He is all talk and no credible action. I hope Imo state citizens wake up to this man's antics and throw him out of office next year. We need a credible man at the helms in Imo. |
agbotaen:I hope you understand that because the Ika is a group existing at the borders of two different tribes -Igbo and Bini- that there will always be elements within it that identify with either tribe. That is why this is a tricky subject for us Igbo. Our civil war experience makes us emotional and we feel an obligation to "welcome and protect" anyone identifying as Igbo. Believe me, that is the only reason this conversation is still going on. There are people from that area that identify themselves as Igbo, and Ndigbo will always claim them as Igbo no matter what you might feel about it. Until the Ika collectively passes a resolution disavowing their Igbo lineage, Ndigbo will never stop identifying with them as Igbo. Like I've said before, Igbo do not need to expand westwards. There is NOTHING NEW to gain from that. Absolutely nothing. So, let's calm down and realize that other peoples feelings are also involved. You feel this way passionately, other people inside the same Ika area might feel the opposite! So the easiest way for you to achieve your aim is to mobilize at home and pass that resolution, not here on nairaland. |
I can't understand why anyone would respond to a rabid dog roaming nairaland called bk/babe99. This is politics section, not "fake thug" section. Like I've said always, bk/babe99 thrives on attention. He practically feeds off it! You kill him by denying him that attention. Just ignore him, don't respond to ANY of his posts. He will die a natural miserable death. As for his paying for taxi services, don't worry about that. One of these days he will meet a "real Igbo thug" behind the taxi wheels. Of course the idiot won't know that he is about to be killed. It will come naturally to him. Or worse, he will mistake some other black dude to be Igbo and he will smell his nyash that day. Just ignore the rabid dog. ![]() |
Katsumoto:I was rolling on the floor. ![]() mekusxxx: mekusxxx:Ol boy you'll kill me here with laughter. . ![]() SEFAGO:Ode! ![]() rotfl is that Sjeezy and EzeUche or SEFAGO and OnlyTruth?@FL Gators To mention me and Sjeezy or SEFAGO in a single "fighting" sentence is an insult. Both of them will FAINT at my sight. You think the Ikemba is a scary dude, wait until you meet me! ![]() |
hehehe! ![]() Like I asked before, if Ogbulafor and Jonathan make up, would this trial continue? In the land of thieves, no one is a priest. The more things change, the more they remain the same. PDP will rule for 60 years! lmao! The day we start fighting corruption, we start from the very top down to the gateman. ![]() From left: Acting President Goodluck Jonathan and National Chairman, Peoples' Democratic Party, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor and National Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Bugaje at the National Executive Committee meeting of the party in Abuja, yesterday. ifihearam:My friend sharap dia! Who told you that? Some of you are so naive! Who told you that the Igbo is even desperate to produce the president? If Igbos really want to produce the president, do you think south south is more united for that same purpose? There are more opposition to Jonathan's presidency from the south south more than any other region in Nigeria. Even his governor Timpriye Silver is his political enemy! Again there are Igbos in the south south. You might as well say that no one from BOTH regions should be trusted with the presidency. It is really in Nigeria's interest to give the presidency to whoever will work best for the whole country. If for any reason the Igbo feel that they are not wanted in Nigeria, Nigeria is finished because we have the number and the resources to push for secession to a logical end. |
bilymuse:The bolded is your ONLY FEAR and WORRY. I don't know whom you think you are deceiving, but frankly you need to have your head examined. The Igbo will continue to invest and expand their investments in Nigeria whether you like it or not, Biafra or no Biafra. Today there is a state of Israel but Jews dominate the American economy. The two things can happen simultaneously. You think Igbos dominate Nigerian economy because others want it that way? NO. We dominate it because it is in our nature to excel. Nigeria did not give it to us, we took it. Like I've already said, MASSOB is not all talk. They have been killed for openly stating their position on Nigeria. Uwazuruike is their leader. The day he dies, his peaceful philosophy will likely die with him. What happens next is anybody's guess. The Igbo (together with other easterners) are the only group to have sustained a fight for secession longest so far. Don't say it is not in their nature to fight despite their investments in Nigeria. Meanwhile stop mumu (ing) around.

chidichris:Bros I would not be so glib. I know some of my brothers here misunderstand me on this, but I will try to clarify once more. I start by saying that the Igbo is arguably the most politically naive in Nigeria. For once I would have to agree with Iwuanyanwu. If you doubt me, read this quote from a poster in another forum: "As someone once said: all of dem na thiefman & army robbers, But what about OBJ, Atiku, Dariye, prof Adenike Grange, Iyabo, Saminu, Yerima, OGD, Igbinedion, Ladoja, Alams & the other execuTHIEVES? Even Jonathan, directly & by proxy, is in it. Patience Jonathan should be arrested as well. There is also the small issue wt Iwu, Anenih, the stupendously wealthy" Posted by: Abayomi , on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 I don't know whether this naivety has to do with Igbo republicanism or not. All I know is that whether we like it or not, the plot against Ogbulafor by Obasanjo is actually a bigger plot. To help you understand more please answer the following questions honestly and the truth will stare you in the face at the end: (1) Was Ogbulafor the best candidate for PDP chairmanship zoned (by Obasanjo) to the South East; was he the most decent fellow to man that chair from Igboland? ![]() (2) Wasn't there the same allegation against him even BEFORE he ran for the chairmanship of the PDP; how did he still emerge chairman of PDP, how did that skip Obasanjo and his crew of kingmakers? ![]() (3) If Ogbulafor had not come out to say that the presidency will stay in the north next year, would he be under trial today? ![]() (4) If Ogbulafor is removed, how do we know that the next Igboman to replace him will not be replaced again? ![]() (5) How many Nigerians can still recall the names of past senate presidents? But they can still recall that the post kept changing hands, right ![]() Believe me, as much as it hurts, I have to defend Ogbulafor because his "position" is not his alone. I don't have to personally benefit from his perks of office. I lose something bigger if I fail to see and understand the bigger game. A day will come when those who impose the likes of Ogbulafor (the real thieves) will exit the scene and we can choose our leaders like we did in Anambra state governorship elections. Until then, I remain apprehensive and unconvinced about this fake fight against corruption. This game is FAR BIGGER than Ogbulafor. Mark my word on that! |
kettykings:No my friend, you should not worry about us. This time, the war will be in your lands, not in Igboland. We stopped running in 1991 in Kano and have not looked back ever since. So, worry about the war in your land. The Igbo will NOT cede an inch of property to anyone anymore. Do you notice that the Jews are not running anymore and are prepared to destroy the whole world to survive? Igbo would rather destroy Nigeria rather than being wiped out. We didn't identify the enemy before. We've had 40 years to identify the enemy. So fear for yourself instead. ![]() |
If this is true, why is anyone surprised? ![]() Since the north indicated interest in retaining the presidency in 2011, there is NOTHING anyone down south can do about that, at least not as Nigeria is presently constituted. Imagine a scenario where the Acting President had to choose a northerner (he didn't have a choice ) with presidential ambitions like Gen Gusau to be his national security adviser. That was the moment he lost the game. Gen Gusau or even Danjuma will never go against northern resolutions, and as long as the Nigerian military is still in northern hands, the Acting President is powerless to northern interests in the presidency. This is the simple fact. In all the years Obasanjo was busy terrorizing and killing southern politicians to achieve his aims, he carefully steered clear of northern interests. When they told him he couldn't continue in office, he left like a coward he is. What gives anyone the impression that Obasanjo will support Jonathan against the north? OBJ is all about saving his own hide, and will never go against a declared northern interest. That is NIGERIA. It is based on these facts that I keep saying that most Nigerians (especially south-south/ south-easterners) still don't understand their own country. ![]() I foresaw this. |
bilymuse:Of course the Igbo don't do much of strikes or protests It just doesn't make sense to protest in a jungle ![]() Who will you be protesting to? The snake or the lions and other predators? lmfao! Only idiots embark on protests in Nigeria. If you have a problem, you state it openly and state your position and what you will do about it. That is what MASSOB has been doing. They have said that they are not Nigerians and have addressed all media and anyone who cares to listen, and have peacefully called the attention of the world to their position on Nigeria -outright secession. For these, they have been shot and killed several times, no other groups in Nigeria have done that peacefully. Others simply armed up and started fighting. With the indefinite detention of Uwazuruike, MASSOB may have to reconsider their peaceful strategies. One of two things will likely happen: (1) They abandon their agitation and forget about Biafra and Uwazuruike (2) They reconsider their present strategy for something more effective I have a feeling the first option will not be in their agenda anytime soon, which leaves us with the second option. Democracy to an average Igbo is been allowed to sell his wares in Sokoto without hindrance, anything that interferes with that is undemocratic. Nobody really cares about Uwazuruike, he can rot in prison , while Igbo traders continue to sell their wares around the country: that means democracy to an average Igbo man.Well, democracy to the Bilymumu of Yorubaland is to pillage public purse and steal as much as possible. At least the Igbo hustle for genuine livelihood away from government purse. Thieves like you should be exiled from Yorubaland. ![]() |
@agbotaen & sonya4all You guys should calm down please. Believe me when I tell you that there is not much to be worked up over here. Since Nigeria became a country there has never been any tussle that I know of between the Igbo and other groups in delta over land issues. How you guys jumped to land, oil and Biafra beats me! Biafra was EAST not Midwest, though Biafra enjoyed sympathy from Igbo elements in the midwest, nonetheless it was EAST and will remain East until things change, if ever. Ndigbo are an emotional group and tend to extend inclusion, acceptance and love to all who identify with them. It does not mean that there is complete sameness even within the larger Igbo nation. There are various groups within the Igbo. I don't know where you guys got the idea that Ndigbo are interested in your oil or land. We have both in abundance in other self identified parts of Igboland. So, lets drop this childishness. There is an entire clan in Nsukka that is partly Igalla. That did not make them deny their Igbo leanings. In fact they could be classified as Igalla, but chose otherwise. While you may want to be identified as more Bini, there are others (like my former classmate at UNN) who is from Ika too, who proudly identify with Igbo. So, let's not try to force people. Igbo would NEVER force anyone to accept being Igbo. We are a very proud group. Thanks for listening. ![]() |
Kobojunkie:I never said to pay ALL Nigerians, just the ones actively seeking employment (not self employment o!), real jobs that pay livable wages. Again, the amount does not matter, it is a token, a statement of commitment to the citizen. You would think that they won't care, but wait until you organize Nigerians along that message. If the Save Nigeria Group had harped on that message, believe me they would get about 1 million Nigerians ready to die, matching bare handed to the corridors of power. Heck, they are already dying anyway? ![]() |
SapeleGuy:Exactly my conclusion. Kiagbodo is fishing on trouble waters. He has refused to retire. Obasanjo has not forgiven Ibori for his 3rd (life) term debacle. I wonder how Jonathan is allowing himself to be used by Obasanjo. This war no go reach Owu. ![]() |
Kobojunkie:You have a point, but you would be surprised how much these guys steal. In any case you captured my implied aim for the payments. If they pay for two months, they'll realize that it is cheaper to create jobs for Nigerians. The payment is a way of reminding them that they are stealing our money and spending it within the less than .05% that is ruling Nigeria. This money never trickles down except when these guys lavish it on young girls. It is to remind them that they OWE US jobs. They should create jobs or start paying us! Let them start paying today. They will find the money. ![]() |
tensor777:Before jumping let me break it down a little for you. The idea is not the amount the government should pay, just let them pay something to unemployed Nigerians monthly. The idea is to build a social contract with the nation, a commitment of sorts. If the leaders do something along that line, of course there would be less (if any) money left for them to steal. Which is the only reason why they would NEVER do it. Nigeria funds far too many white elephant projects. This is "doable", and would have a real impact on the grassroots economy. If they stop stealing our money for once, they will find the money. PAY NIGERIANS! ![]() |
Ibime:Good point. chosen04:My sister you sure so? I think that keeping him in jail is dangerous. What many people don't know is that Uwazuruike is like Nelson Mandela inside Massob. Now let me explain quickly before folks accuse me of theft. ![]() Uwazuruike is the only Massob leader I know that really believes in that non-violence strategy. I really don't think others inside Massob share that philosophy. Taking him out -in jail or killing him- would only galvanize those who never believed in non-violence into violent agitation from which Nigeria may not recover. Here comes the Mandela part. Mandela was the voice of reason inside the ANC keeping things moderate and agreeing to peaceful settlement. Other members of the ANC were more eager to bring about a violent revolution. That is why I would be careful with handling Uwazuruike. His course is still unaddressed. Taking him out will only add fuel to the fire. |
Anyway I'm out of this aimless debate, COMPLETELY UNREPENTANT AND RESOLUTE in my support of Ogbulafor. When Nigeria changes and starts seeking the truth and implementing justice across the board, I will then reconsider. Until the real thieves are behind bars, until a bigger thief stops arresting and imprisoning the smaller thief, basically until we have a properly negotiated country; I will remain unchanged on this point. Until then, I am an unrepentant defender of Igbo persons and interests. PERIOD! ![]() I guess a parting question is appropriate for some neophytes here: If Ogbulafor turns around tomorrow to start supporting Jonathan in his schemes to contest elections next year, would the trial still continue? ![]() |
kobikwelu:My friend sharap dia! When did you start to understand Nigerian politics? Tomorrow you'll start crying that you cannot get a job due to quota system, but when the same system gives you or your own some benefit, you champion pulling him down. Some Igbos make me furious! ![]() |
debosky:The problem with that is that by the time he is cleared -which can happen- (assuming he gets fair process as you argue) the PDP chairmanship would have changed hands about 4 times. And when the whole scheme completes, someone will start arguing that Igbos cannot hold national positions. The senate presidency is still fresh in my mind. As far as I can see, this has some depth. I don't expect everyone to agree with me. IDIOTS like Bilymumu is a known clown. I don't expect anything short of pure idiocy from him. |
Oboma1:I'm heading to Oghara now! The war is just beginning and I won't miss it for anything. . . ![]() Those Oghara boys are serious. Check out that Iroko tree trunk! |
mekusxxx:For the records, I believe Beaf is Isoko, not Urhobo . He is my in-law. Bro mekus calm down na. ![]() One love and peace. |
agitator:Nope! Arrest him and others like him across all ethnic lines who actually stole money. We Nigerians know ALL of them. Why do cherry picking? Arrest all. It is possible. Only then can we take the war seriously. ![]() |
debosky:So, what if 'oppressing political opponents' means sending innocent people to jail or death in jail as is often the case in Nigeria? Do you think it can't happen? Woe betide anyone standing in the way of Obasanjo and his cronies. A flawed judicial process (under the thumbs of the presidency) can never deliver justice. |
debosky:The major flaw in your thought pattern here is that you assume that justice can be obtained from a compromised investigation. What happened to the first investigation against the same Ogbulafor? He was cleared before, right? So what has changed? I'll tell you what changed. He has stepped on some powerful toes in the presidency. Like I said before, the worst corruption is the corruption of power. It can be used to steal money, undermine justice, intimidate judicial process, obfuscate facts and hoodwink the entire system. It is the WORST of the WORST. I did not justify Ogbulafors "crime". I simply faulted the system trying to indict him because it is a flawed and dubious system from which justice can never be obtained. An Igbo proverb says "there is no need telling the deaf that a war has broken out, it is self evident". The day the real war against corruption begins in Nigeria, it will be self evident. STOP OPPRESSING POLITICAL OPPONENTS! That is vintage Obasanjo! ![]() |
Again I would make this case for a social safe net of sorts in Nigeria. Nigeria is the way it is because there is no social contract between the citizen and the country. There is also an economic value to this concept, and I will explain. If there is a monthly payment of about 10 to 20 thousand Naira to every unemployed Nigerian, many things can be achieved using that window of opportunity. Firstly, it would create an opportunity to properly document and identify Nigerians (name, date of birth, physical address). Secondly, that information could be used to collect taxes from the beneficiaries, and then gradually widen it to others outside of this system. But the most important benefit by far is that it would create a sense of commitment and loyalty to the country. What does an average Nigerian lose if there is no Nigeria tomorrow? Absolutely nothing! Why should any Nigerian care whether a governor is stealing money and not doing anything? If Nigerians are paid monthly, even if some elements within the government continue with corrupt practices, at least, Nigerians will have some money coming to them directly. The sharp and entrepreneurial ones would likely launch big businesses over time from these monthly payments and employ others. Of course there will always be those perpetually depending on the system, but it is better than having few individuals who still depend on the same system stealing billions of dollars. PAY NIGERIANS monthly. I don't care if you steal the rest. When we get empowered enough, then we start asking hard questions. But then, that is why they would never pay us! ![]() |
harakiri:Thank you for this! You captured my earlier argument. Nigerians have developed immunity against common sense. Pray what is so difficult to understand about this issue? All you need to know is that in 1980, total Nigerian GDP in dollar terms was not more than $30 billion, but our people were NOT living inside dumps then. Today our GDP has multiplied about 10 times to about $300 billion. Has Nigeria's population multiplied 10 times? A fat NO! So how come we have people living in and off dumps today? ![]() Simple and honest answer is that our leaders have stolen much much more these days than before. Yet, we have people claiming to fight corruption in Nigeria, but all they are really doing is hounding political opponents all over the place. If we are serious about fighting corruption, then, people like Obasanjo should be in jail today, because he presided over a period of the greatest oil boom in Nigeria since independence 1999 -2007. Yet, today we have people living like rodents inside dumps! Sheds more tears. . |
snowdrops:Thank you! Some idiots here would be busy sneaking shots at select few weak targets and turn blind eyes to the kings and dons of theft in Nigeria -Olusegun Obasanjo and his inner crew who stole BILLIONS of DOLLARS. They'll keep chasing the mice while the elephants pillage the farm. They can only fool the mob, not me! Turn Ogbulafor loose! He has done nothing new! ![]() |
Beaf:The bolded quote is the GIST of the whole thing. I'm deeply disappointed that seemingly smart folks are even attacking you for pointing out the "gutter" syndrome in our neighborhood designs (though I thank God they are being systematically replaced with underground sewers in new housing developments in parts of Nigeria these days), but the fact remains that overwhelming majority of Nigerian cities have open drainage (gutters). I have often wondered aloud why we still have them in Nigeria. I completely share your views and sentiments on this. ![]() |
Akanbi_edu:We may disagree occasionally but I would take your views seriously. |

) with presidential ambitions like Gen Gusau to be his national security adviser.
