Smart response. Bakers are only putting together raw materials bought from the market. They don't produce wheat, sugar, margarine or even salt. Neither do they refine diesel or Gas.

This has been tried before with some measure of success. The ratio of Wheat flour Vs cassava flour is the important variable here. It will take a lot to convince the generality of Nigerian consumers to switch to a hight content cassava flour bread.

Then again you need large investments in milling to process cassava flour that will produce the quantity required by our rather numerous bakeries.

Why not try to find out how many metric tonnes of wheat is brought into the country on a monthly and annual basis? You will be shocked.

You can't replace wheat with cassava in the short or medium term.

You will be shocked to know that the emboldened is the case and has always been.

We have never achieved wheat production to a commercial degree. All we have had is media blitz about dry season wheat, cassava flour bread etc.

So long as we don't grow wheat enough locally bread will always be expensive. Wheat is the base raw materials constituting over 70% of the total raw materials used.

It worsens when we add other costs like diesel, packaging, emoluments.

Do you have an idea of how much it costs to make just one set of stainless steel bread pans? What about equipment spare parts?

There are a few things you could add to the POS business temporarily.

You will however have to learn a technical skill or a peoples skill for the long haul.

You are indeed very lucky if you can still see a very good quality family size loaf of bread for 1,400.00. It's not very likely.

I am in the industry and I can tell you that over 40% of bakeries have closed down during this period.

Bread making is not as profitable as it appears.

The cost of flour is at its all time highest.......55k - 60k depending on variables such as location, brand and type.


Sugar has no control mechanism whatsoever. It's almost a monopoly. The prices rise arbitrarily. Some story about international prices.

Margarine is almost beyond reach. The European types are almost 4k per kg while the Asian ones are 2k per kilo.

Other materials are also dependent on Forex....indeed almost all of them. Then you have the issue of electricity.

Many bakeries are driven by diesel. I still buy diesel at between 1,600 and 1,700 per liter and it takes over 5 litres of diesel to round off the production cycle for one bag from Mixing through baking to Packaging.

Beyond that you must still deal with packaging prices, delivery costs and of course salaries.

very stable i have been using it for the past 6 months
i only scan 2 weeks ago when i heard dey have added more stations.
Formerly it was 300 + stations after scanning it became 400+ stations .

When I did mine it was 45k for total package

Though the good part is that they try to pay Salary early to ensure it doesn't enter the new month, also you'll learn and grow if you're willing to.

But the management style is poor, the management most times contradicts themselves in giving directives. The pay is poor, and people are expected to show up everyday from 8-5 being overworked and overstretched, and even work overtime mostly without compensation. There are so many unnecessary deductions done on staffs salary, most times for ridiculous and absurds reasons(Sometimes up to 40-80 % of staffs salary could be deducted in a month, On One or two occasions 100%). Staffs are usually harassed and shouted at for every little matter. There is a high rate of turnover as Staffs have to leave as they can't cope with the toxic atmosphere, giving more work to the already overworked staffs remaining, and the circle continues perpetually.
Leaving the organization is also usually an issue, even though they will claim otherwise, but most employees knows that they usually have an issue when people want to go and inform them, no wonder most people who leave take off without informing them. In my case they refused to pay my last salary because they didn't want me to leave when I left. They held that the salary up till today.
Virtually all employees who leave are usually recorded as "absconding" even after sending them written resignation via email.

Then the worst part of it is that when reference is requested from them for past employees, they give employees bad/negative reviews/reference (Which is why most people leave without telling them since they will get a negative review anyways)

Funniest thing is that they don't even see anything wrong in their management style, they think the employees are the problem(When 80-90% of employees who begin every year with them leave before the year runs out)
A look at their review on the employers rating site, "Glassdoor" will give you a perfect picture of how staffs are treated.

I disagree with the email approach to resigning. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if it was a100% remote job. If it was a full time physical,onsite job or even a hybrid job then you have to follow due process and resign in person and with full respect to the statutory or mutually agreed upon notification time frame.

It can't be that hard to leave a on a good and even note.

I really don't know if you are being sarcastic but I can tell you for free that I met this guy and he is quite cool. I saw the mattresses. Please note that I didn't buy them but recommended someone who bought one unit based on my avowed reassurance.
It's over six months and the buyer keeps thanking me for saving him the difference he would have spent on a better known brand that may or may not have delivered the value he has gotten from this little known brand.

And by the way I have bought pillows from him and can testify to the superior quality. I am buying some more soon and then a mattress.

Could it be true that rebuilding of Korean Car engines are not advisable?

I have a few Hyundai Accents and Elantra that I would like to have the engines rebuilt.

This is actually true.

If you can order your parts directly from OEM, engine rebuild is the best option than replacement.

All these Ladipo boys sell dead engines are direct toks. Except you meet a truthful seller, but remember we are in Nigeria.

You may have to get a lamp to support sunlight in your quest for the bolded.

Get a mechanic that work on commercial cars to rebuild your engine. You can identify that by seeing several commercial cars in their work shop. I've rebuilt a Toyota Hilux 2TR-FE engine and bitch is still firing up for 5yrs+

Well, in the real world where this things actually work the way it should, people only by engines for 2 reasons (1) you need the car running in the shortest possible time, so you can wait for the long rebuild process, (2) you actually want to fill the vibe of a new (brand new silvery shinny engine block) engine in your car.

The only reason people venture to buy the half dead (tokunbo) engines here is because (1) the mechanics do not actually know the rebuilding job well enough (2) most of the rebuilding parts are fake, so they break down quickly.

Probability that the tokunbo engine you just bought is also a rebuild is 80%.

As long as the engine block is still intact, the engine is meant to be rebuild.

My experience with engine purchases has not been so wonderful especially in the last few months. You get different assurances prior to payment and you still discover in the long run that you were sold a lemon despite the huge capital outlay involved.

But we have to keep moving.

I have been contemplating seriously about reverting to engine building. Three years ago one of our delivery vehicles (a 1999 Sienna) in our Enugu branch needed a new engine. We were however persuaded by our mechanic to rebuild the engine. What tilted our decision was the fact that he actually recommended someone else other than himself.

We did the job and that car is still running like a dream. Recently we brought the car over to Lagos and it is still doing very well.

We invited the Mechanic to Lagos but he says he cannot come as he has a long line of clients in Enugu where he is based.

Does anyone have an experience to share or a Lagos based mechanic he can recommend?
