Lagos State Government's enforcement of the monthly rent charge according to tenants's earnings is commendable, but... Comrade Iche By Onome Naomi In reference to the recent bill proposed by some members of the Senate and Lagos state government to enforce monthly house rent payments according to tenants's earnings, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, a human rights activist aka 'The Voice of the Voiceless', commends Gov. Babajide Sanwo-olu for making moves to enforce the laws of the one-month tenancy charge. Says it will be thorough only if the state government builds more low-cost housing for citizens. Comrade Iche said low-cost housing could enhance the idea of a one-month tenancy charge, but how many governors have built such facilities for the occupants of a state? How many mortgaged houses are available for citizens, as it is done in western countries?. He added that the essence of enforcing this new law cannot be ascertained; the motive behind the situation is unclear. Landlords and landladies will not really object to the idea as it is even more regular and profitable despite the high cost of building materials inflated by the present government. The problem is that, tenants who find it very hard to pay yearly rent will find it even harder to pay monthly rent. For instance, the former governor of Lagos State, within a few years of his reign, built many estates and gave them out at a very low cost. If other governors in Lagos follow suit, rent charge will be cheaper, Lagos landlords will see the development as a competition and cost of rent will come at a reasonable rate otherwise landlords will lose potential tenants. The government has failed in her duties to provide adequate shelter/apartments at a fair price, leading to chaos in housing, Iche opined. Iche further stated that Sen. Ned Nwoko's proposal for the monthly rent bill is thoughtful but might not be sustained because it is not practical. Maybe Sen. Ned Nwoko, a serving senator and philanthropist, has done well for people in his senatorial district; how about others? Have they done the same to support the new law by creating low-cost housing for the masses? I am challenging the leaders because they are the government; they should be able to create ease for Nigerians with the money they have laundered, Iche asserted. Iche, convener of 'Voice of the Voiceless', applauded Babatunde Raji Fashola's tenure as the former governor of Lagos State for approving the one-year rent, and Lagos landlords never complained. The concern should be: Can tenants afford to pay the monthly rent? Many might not even earn up to the rent per month, while the yearly rent gives them enough time to save up. Calls on the governors, senators, and federal government to build more houses and estates for the average citizen and allow them to pay in installments to correlate with their monthly earnings. Through this means, most citizens can be house owners in no distant time in accordance with the same measures put in place by the late ex-governor Jakande in Lagos State, Iche added. Members of Ndigbo Buru'Otu, others lament over demolition of structures by FHA in Ijeododo, demand HRH Abu-Jelili's swift Intervention ....'We have been duped by the baale' community landowners cries over demolition of building structures by FHA on their lands. By Onome Naomi Ndigbo Buru'Otu members, others woke up on the morning of Thursday, 21st March 2024 to a heart wrenching act of demolition carried out by Federal Housing Authourity on their structures in Ijeododo part of Lagos State. The Chairman of the Ndigbo Buru'Otu Association of Nigeria, Eze Dr CC Nwokedi revealed over 500 members contributed to purchase the vast acres of land since 2017 but were shocked and disappointed at the latest development of demolition. He said no prior notice was given by FHA neither did the baale who sold the land for igbos and others reached out to talk about any notice of demolition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oV-fbNsymSc?si=ur0GCnITD2HcI7F5 Addressing pressmen about the demolition, Nwokedi said: Our people are angry because they bought lands worth over a billion naira to be landlords instead of being tenants with constant threat of quit notice or increased rent and the next day structures erected by means of hard earned money has been destroyed, and land confiscated. After the land was acquired from the baale, there was proper documentation and family receipt to say we have bought from the right source verified by FHA. Millions of naira went into sand filling alone, now is it a crime to buy land from the king only to be defrauded? All affected igbos are not happy. Igbos within and outside my jurisdiction of leadership approaches me to verify a genuine land as their leader and I led them through the appropriate source 'the baale' who inturn issues family receipt only to find out the land is not genuinely owned by the ruling family but FHA, how then can I be trusted? I can be arrested yet innocent, it is a dent on my image as a leader. The baale has been alerted and he feigned ignorance of FHA's demolition plan, but when I asked those carrying out the demolition, they confirmed a notice has been passed since 2022 and they must carry on with the assignment. Right now, FHA is working on the land and have claimed it. We need to hear from the government, we want a refund of money spent on structures destroyed as well as get our lands back. The baale needs to tell us what he truly knows as regards the demolition and create a working solution as some members are already contemplating suicide. If truly these acres of land belongs to FHA, then we have been duped by the baale and this is termed fraudulent." Chief Martins Chikezie a member of the Igbo Buru'Otu association said he owns 3 plots of land in the affected area, reveals at the point of purchase baale' affirmed the land belongs to his family only to see FHA claiming the said land. Appeals to FG to give the lands back as plans are underway to build a small home for his family to avoid threats of quit notice or displacement. A civil servant who retired after 35years of service said she had used her retirement savings to purchase 2 plots short of half plot due to grabbings. She expressed her disappointments at FHA for the inconsiderate action of demolition while she appeals to the baale of Ijeododo to intervene as she has no other properties to hold unto after retirement. The group of affected occupants of the said land in Ijeododo approached the baale who received them warmly expressing his dismay over the demolition as well. Eze Chika Nwokedi who led the movement accompanied by PG Igbo speaking community, Chief Sunday Udeh and Ezendigbo Oriade Eze Chukwukadibia told baale' Jelili that he wasn't notified of the said demolition until Tuesday 21st March when he saw a video online of some persons encroaching the land bought by the association claiming ownership. The President General of Igbo speaking community in Lagos Chief Sunday Udeh also questioned the involvement of the baale in the demolition process, asked for inclusion of Eze Chika Nwokedi in the plans to proffer solutions as the money involved in the purchase of land and erection of structures is too much to be wasted, he also asked for timeframe for solutions to be proffered to douse the already built up tension. Eze Chukwukadibia also made an input to buttress on the lament of igbos, says there is need for a swift Intervention to avoid mishap. Some members expressed their pains to the baale, ask for utmost attention and solution as some is already contemplating suicide over the great loss if nothing is done immediately. A dignitary who attended the meeting with High Chief Abu-Jelili challenged the ignorance feigned by the baale, says it is unbelievable that he isn't aware of the demolition before it is carried out, advises all to be verified with FHA to avoid occurrences such as this even after receiving family receipt over purchased land. The baale of Ijeododo High Chief Abu-Jelili Ayinde Ododo in response to the different complaints and allegations denied his involvement and knowledge of the demolition, says a man named Mr lawal who is FHA Surveyor accompanied by some people visited his palace in 2024 claiming their land is extended to some areas in ijeododo. After several meetings, FHA representative said houses marked won't be demolished but those unmarked are on the roads or blocking a canal. To this effect, the baale mentioned that he asked for solution to those unmarked and they requested receipt from the buyers as a way to avoid demolition. The baale express disappointment at the sudden demolition after proffering solution to avoid it, affirmed he is genuinely bothered by the recent development, urges affected persons to be calm for he's in control of this situation as well as gathering vital information, appeals for patience. Be rest assured I am not sleeping on this case, there is no court judgement according the said land to FHA, he added. Chief Solomon Aguene affirm position as president Ohaneze Ndigbo in Lagos, counter opposition By Onome Naomi Chief Solomon Aguene debunk report making rounds on the internet concerning "bowing out" as Ohaneze president Lagos while Chief Sunday Ossai takes over. He said this in a press conference held at the Ohaneze secretariat in Surulere area of Lagos state on 21st March, 2024 where he told pressmen that a lot of people especially the media has quoted his statements wrongly and he is inclined to correct the misconstrued perception as well as disparities in his rulership position as head of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Lagos. However, Chief Solomon stated that Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu's visit is not all about addressing the issues around Ohaneze crisis in Lagos, rather the apex leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide affirmed interest to work with him "Solomon" as the most capable to govern Ndigbo in Lagos. According to Chief Solomon Aguene, Chief Ossai was presented to Iwuanyawu as the elected president of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Lagos but has no capacity to govern the socio-cultural organisation. He mentioned that, a court judgement was passed in May 2023 following some issues arising from disagreements surrounding his position as Ohaneze president in 2018 by some dysfunctional executives of Ohaneze Ndigbo. Furthermore, the defacto executives since 2018, had produced two different leaders to disorient and checkmate his activities while the case of leadership choice had been a tussle in court for 3years and 7months before judgement was passed affirming 'him' Chief Solomon Aguene the authentic president of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Lagos. Chief Solomon revealed that the first 4years of his tenure didn't really count as he was in and out of court due to injunctions, says since the judgement was passed, his tenure has properly commenced as president of Ohaneze Lagos to complete unfinished tasks. According to court directions, the parties will have to conduct elections in all Ndigbo communities to elect one president, meanwhile the office of the President of Ohaneze remains intact, he added. Speaking on the requests of the opposing faction who demanded an outrageous amount of 40million naira as compensation otherwise step down, Solomon affirmed that he declined on their request. He also cleared the air about tenures in the Ohaneze constitution, he said it is impractical and should be disregarded. Says Chief Inwayanwu, president of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide confirmed no one is above court judgements but will present the matter before the National executives while he commends Chief Solomon for his capacity to lead. Highlighting positions in the Hierarchy of the Ohaneze constitution, Chief Solomon stated that the presidents both past and present, executives and committees of Ohaneze Ndigbo has positions mapped out and approved by the court. Addressing the disconcerting mannerisms of Ndi-Ezes in Lagos, Solomon disapprove of some disgraceful behaviour stemmed from disunity amongst them. Says the Ezes are divided into 5-6 groups who fights over very trivial matters. He said: "Some Ezes in Lagos needs sensitization on what it means to assume the mantle of kingship, they need to possess quality attitude to command respect for themselves. President Tinubu once scrapped Ezes out of the Lagos system of tribal rulership when some were seen fighting over bag of rice and cow until value was restored by me as Ohaneze president." In conclusion, Chief Solomon tells the public to disregard some misconstrued statement aimed at causing division amongst the Igbos, reiterates that Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu is a wise man and won't disobey court judgement affirming him "Chief Solomon Aguene"the authentic president of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Lagos. Those who attended the press conference organised at the Ohaneze secretariat includes some stakeholders, patrons, executives and members of Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos. Nigerian Army is the best in Africa yet dragged through the mire - Human Rights Group By Onome Naomi According to reports confirming the killings of officers of the Nigerian Army during a rescue mission to Okuama community to free a hostage, one Mr. Anthony Aboh, allegedly abducted over the lingering land dispute between Okuama and Okoloba communities, Iche says the Nigerian Army regarded as the very best in Africa is being dragged through the mud and must be redeemed to regain its authority. Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, a human rights activist, the convener of AMPEF " Voice Of The Voiceless" commiserates with the Nigerian Army for the loss of some gallant officers: A Lieutenant Colonel, two Majors, one Captain, 12 other soldiers who were ambushed and killed while on a peacekeeping mission to two warring communities in Delta State. Recounting the incidences from the Buhari regime to the present administration, Iche expressed displeasure at the compromise exercised by the highest of authorities in the state as soldiers are being killed with little or no retribution on the perpetrators. Iche further said: "The Nigerian military have the capacity and training to take on bandits in the country but the problem is; that politicians have made the military compromise on its mode of operation." "There are situations where a lieutenant colonel and captain was killed yet no counter attack on the doers. Instead, new recruits will be enlisted and led to the war front to risk their lives." "Now the military no longer instill orderliness, they are everywhere around the country solving minor issues such as tenant and landlord situations. Anonymous source also confirmed that "yahoo boys" sometimes employs their services to recover their monies from debtors aka "reapers"by way of force or by means of punishment and coercion." "In the last election, the military was used for snatching of ballot boxes, a very shameful act. Military personnels are also used as bodyguards to protect politicians as well as the wealthy thereby bridging the real purpose of servitude to the nation." "This kind of reputation is bad for the military, the hierarchy of the military heads needs to stand their ground concerning the essence of wearing that uniform. There is need to restore their lost glory as the pride of Africa." Iche stated that he pities the wives and children of slain military men, says some of the widows will be evicted from the barracks while some will not be paid gratuity as seen in times past. He also mentioned that some youths interested in joining the military declines for fear of being killed with no compensate for their hard word because the military has been compromised. Sometimes, officers who goes on national assignment has the probability of movements being leaked by an informant from within the military, leading to a failed mission. Voice of the voiceless in its press statement pleads with politicians to sort other security operatives and leave Nigerian military alone to focus on their essence. Advocates for sophisticated equipments to carry out core assignments designated as soldiers of the nation. Mentions that military hierarchy used by politicians should no longer be entertained by the Chief of Defence Staff and the Federal Govt of Nigeria. The Nigerian military has won a lot of local and international awards, their pride must be redeemed, shun politicians, avoid compromises and redeem your image before it is completely thrown into the mud, Iche (Voice of the voiceless) added. Hardship:'Corruption kills nations and Nigeria is dying'- Comrade Prince Saviour Iche calls for resignation of Sen. Akpabio, others... By Onome Naomi Founder of Ambassadors of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation 'AMPEF' Voice of the voiceless media who doubles as the CEO of "Thentic Beauty Products" Comrade Prince Saviour Iche express disappointment at Federal Government Of Nigeria for portraying ambiguity in her leadership capacity, says the country needs to reboot. Following the recent trend of Sen. Ningi's allegation of N3.7trillion budget padding by the National Assembly and his immediate suspension regarded as a desperate move to suppress investigation, conceal, and sweep the facts under the carpet, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche is saying the federal government must be tasked on accountability. He also stated that there is need for an overhaul of politicians occupying the senate seat, says federal government should be questioned as to why the wealth of the nation is in the hands of designated leaders who are bent on continuous confiscation of the nations wealth through budget padding yet build false hopes that the hardship Nigerians face is as a result of economy reforms. Iche further said: The hardship faced by Nigerians is unfortunate, the federal government who claims to protect the well being of her citizens is doing the opposite. In reference to happenings in the senate, where senators publicly implicate themselves in the budget padding saga, if checks and balances is in accordance, the national budget is meant to cater for the socio-economic factors of the citizens but these senators would rather inflate the budget to remove their percentages and shares. There was budget in place for senator's car park, an amount almost higher than yearly Education and health care allocation in the national budget. Owing to this fact, I will say that the present administration of Tinubu is a scam. Iche faulted the President's decision to install corrupt politicians who are meant to be in prison, he cited Senate president Akpabio, Uzor kalu, others. Affirmed most of the politicians in government were former governors who served one to two tenure, moved into higher authorities to gain immunity against probing and accountability. Iche expressed concern over the increased hardship faced by Nigerians, a situation whereby the masses cannot afford food, children are out of school for lack of fees, a country with the highest rate of employment, the shut down of industries for lack of running capital and exorbitant running cost yet leaders in government hoards billions in Naira consistently. Democracy is lost, the corrupt leaders have enmassed the legislative and judiciary, who will fight justly for us? he questioned. The Nigerian labour congress who would have been the mouth piece of the masses have been ridiculed for their selfish interest. Senators received 500 million for inconsequential reasons, some trillions of naira was also added to the budget, how then will naira be valued rightly, corruption kills nations and Nigeria is dying, Iche laments. In lieu of the impeachment plan against Sen. Akpabio, Iche said there is truly need for the Senate president to step down, opinned he is not qualified to assume any sensitive role in leadership. Appeals to president Tinubu not to throw caution to the wind as citizens are heading towards total frustration and helplessness. Meanwhile politicians are busy looting public funds for personal use investing in other countries other than Nigeria. Refineries are non functional, despite the availability of natural resources in abundance to sustain the economy. Nigerians leave to neighboring countries where they are being mistreated, all attributed to bad governance. IWD: Wikimedia User Group Nigeria tasks journalists on inclusion of women in the Wikipedia space By Onome Naomi Wikimedia User Group Nigeria in collaboration with NAWOJ held a symposium at the Lagos Chamber Of Commerce Hall from 8th -13th March 2024 to enlighten/ train female journalists on capacity building and women inclusion in the Wikipedia space. Wikipedia the world largest online encyclopedia with over 265 volunteers as contributors has established translation into 300 languages and over 4.5billion views on monthly basis. The focus on female contributors to increase the inclusion of women on the online encyclopedia platform is meant to equalize with the already dominated space of 70% by men. Research shows fact-finding reports on how women have been deliberately left out of the contributory platform. To this effect, Wikimedia is building on bridging the gap between men and women volunteers on the Wikipedia space by creating symposiums where women journalists are tasked with promoting notable females as a corroborating merge to level up on occupying the online encyclopedia generously. The 5-day symposium held by Wikimedia User Group Nigeria commenced with an address on why Wikipedia needs women from keynote speakers; Mrs Omolayo Ogunsida( Executive Director Wikimedia Nigeria), Mrs Toro Oladapo ( Former Director Ministry of Information, Former National president NAWOJ) and Mrs Gbemisola Shop ( Technologist, Data Journalist) respectively. The speakers buttressed on the need to accommodate more women volunteers to level up on the male dominated online space. Mrs Omolayo Ogunsida mentioned that women have been deliberately left out of the Wikipedia platform for historical and traditional narratives seen as unfounded summations created to badger female folks into subjection. Without women on the platform, the female gender will be limited to face value thereby debarring notability. There is need to display the greatness of women on Wikipedia not just men, Nigerian women as at year 2000 had 20,000 articles; this articles has to occupy the online encyclopedia. The women should be promoted as well, the "we can do it attitude" must be established and sustained, she added. Mrs Gbemisola Esho in her statements noted that Wikipedia's enlightenment/ training program for members of NAWOJ is meant to enhance the capacity of female volunteers, change the narratives on women to inspire inclusion thereby bridging the gap between men and women on the online encyclopedia space. Gbemisola said; "Before, women were seen as inactive in achievements but now the story has changed. Through Wikipedia, great stories of notable women will spread all around the world. The platform is for women of every aspect, our voices will be heard and we are prepared to change the narratives." Mrs Oladapo Toro revealed Wikimedia Nigeria is carrying out statistics of women participation , says a lot of women have achieved greatly and should be published on Wikipedia. She stated that: "There is possibility that a woman can be seen but not heard as this has been our cultural practice. The society does not want us to be the change but all that narrative will be changed" she affirmed. Oladapo gave an account of her status as President of NAN and how she changed the narratives of women in her sector devoid of bias amongst male and female journalists under her authority. Implies, equity should be adopted as an approach to measure up by increasing the numbers of participating women in the Wikipedia space. The five-day program conducted by Wikimedia facilitators to commemorate the International women's Day with "Theme; INSPIRE INCLUSION" for female journalists ended with a two-day training on capacity building using publication strategies accepted by Wikipedia. The aim is to promote notable women on the online encyclopedia space. IWD: HOJ Foundation empowers over 10 female vocational trainees, advocate for gender equality. By Onome Naomi The HOJ Foundation celebrates International Women's Day 2024 in grand style, empowers over 10 female artisans who are beneficiaries of a fully sponsored and funded internship programme made available by the foundation. The theme of this year's event, 'Count me in' was exercised at the empowerment programme as start-up capital, laptops, and other monetary donations were given to beneficiaries. The founder of the HOJ Foundation, Hon. Okey-Joe Onuakalusi, Member, Representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, told pressmen at the event held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, that the foundation was borne out of the need to enhance the female gender and empower women. He said 60% of the microeconomic drive of the world, especially Nigeria, is dominated by women. In the 21st century, women can be the president of Nigeria, and the HOJ is prepared to ensure that women succeed. The theme 'count me in' shows that women feel excluded; all they seek is to make them part and the heart of the discussion. The foundation is aimed at empowering more women in the future, he quipped. Hon. Okey-Joe further expressed his profound value for women, hence the drive of HOJ to empower women in the areas of skill acquisition, home management, and financial management to utilise the qualities in them. He mentioned that the HOJ Foundation is breaking barriers where all women and girls are valued. She says successful societies around the world are attributed to the female gender, yet Nigeria has had a long-standing problem achieving gender equality. "Women are faced with several problems like violence, poverty, and limited opportunities. Gender equality can enhance economic advancement, proficiency, and quality of life. Education also has a special role in empowering women to ensure that girl-child education is achieved and seen as very key to societal growth and development. In his opening speech, he emphasised on gender equality by summarising the factors by which the HOJ Foundation empowers women. He said: "When a woman has access to finance, she can provide a better education for her children, afford the best possible healthcare for her family, and afford better housing. Through financial security, she gains greater economic power. Women and men must enjoy equal opportunities, choices, capabilities, power, and knowledge as equal citizens. Equipping girls and boys, women and men, with the knowledge, values, attitudes, and skills to tackle gender disparities is a precondition to building a sustainable future for all. This is the reason the H.O.J. foundation over the years sought out funds and grants. The foundation is in discussions with some countries to seek a way to empower the less privileged. Ali Baba Group is also coming in as sponsors; constituency funding will also be appropriated in the budget." In addition, Mazi Chuks Sunday Nwosu, the S.A. media to Hon.Okey Joe, said this year's theme, 'COUNT ME IN' is created to encourage the inclusion of women in male-dominated sectors of society. Calls on the Nigerian government to acknowledge women politically, hence corroborating the need for inclusive governance. Advise men to encourage their wives, sisters, and friends in their career paths. Women also need huge grants to do their businesses, and neglecting women could be a problem as they are the forerunners of the home, he said. Mrs. Uchenna, the convener of the International Women's Day programme for the H.O.J. Foundation, stated that the theme of 2024 event, 'COUNT HER IN', is to encourage women to take up the challenge to achieve their aspirations in male-dominated sectors, thereby promoting gender equality in the society. She noted that HOJ has achieved a lot in the few years of its existence, having trained over 20 women in make-up, catering, web design, and graphics. Empower them with laptop tools for work as well as start-up capital for the commencement of their journey as entrepreneurs. It reveals that the foundation is neither tribalistic nor religious or background-based, but for all. Every woman should be financially independent to enhance family wellbeing. Mazi Ikechukwu Orji, the Executive Director of the H.O.J. Foundation, added that the main aim of the foundation is to empower women, youths, and everyone in the society to become successful as the government can't get to everyone, a way of giving back to society. As such, women are very important to societal growth and development; empowering them makes the world a much better place. A special guest of honour at the HOJ annual celebration of International Women's Day, Aisha Yesufu, spoke on the need for women to achieve their dreams despite societal disparities. She gave an insight on the challenges faced in life during the course of getting an education but succeeded immensely. Aisha told women on the occasion to make a list of goals to achieve, irrespective of perceived challenges, portray humility and respect in all spheres of life. Advise women to uphold their dreams and aspirations, be a support system in the home, be independent, and shun being stay-at-home mothers without financial independence. Other keynote speakers include Mrs. Toluwani Kennedy Jinadu, who elaborated on the need to empower women to enhance the drive for gender equality; Dr. Chioma Emma Nwachukwu, who also educated the audience on "Taking care of your health through a modified lifestyle," Claribel Tabansi Ekhator, and Adebisi Atewologun. Awardees at the event also include: High Chief (Sir) Ifedi Jellily Chukwuhumeyan, Head of Corporate Marketing & Export Marketing Manager of SoulMate Industries Limited; Chief Amb. Dr. Prophet Monday Akunna Ukwa-Achinaka Ihitenansa, Executive Chairman, Greenfield Estate CDA; Abioma Evelyn Agoziem; Comr. Bolaji Belinda Bayode; Humphrey Erumaka (Journalist);. One of the sponsors of the HOJ Foundation Chief Efedi Jellily Chukwuhumeyan, Head of Corporate Marketing and Export Marketing Manager of SoulMate Industries Limited, expressed appreciation for being honoured by the foundation, says the award reinstates his philosophy, which is; service to humanity. The multiple award-winning entrepreneur for his philanthropic prowess over the years said being supportive is not measured by monetary assistance alone but by the compassion shown to others to enhance and provide stability in their lives. Chief Ifedi noted that the recognition will further propel partnership commitments to the HOJ Foundation to champion its course. Hon. Thaddeus Attah, honourable member representing Etiosa, commends the efforts and achievements of the HOJ Foundation founded by his good friend and associate, Hon. Okey-Joe Okey, to better the lives of people. He said he observed that scholarships were given to aspiring web designers, cheques of N100,000 each as the start of capital for graduating trainees, laptops and other generous donations made by special guests to beneficiaries of the foundation. He says the act is a welcome development in the structuring of the female gender towards achieving equality in the society. Advises women to believe in themselves and get involved in sectors dominated by men despite challenges and opposition. The highlight of the event is the presentation of cheques, laptops, and monetary donations to beneficiaries of the HOJ Foundation. Testimonials and appreciation from beneficiaries: Bello Suliat Adebimpe, a website student, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the HOJ Foundation for successfully completing the fully funded programme as she sets out to break barriers by joining the tech world. She said her dreams have become a reality through empowerment by the foundation. Bello Mariam learned make up from the HOJ array of sponsorship programmes and attested the training process has been inspiring. She's anticipated saving to achieve her dreams but couldn't until she got to discover the foundation, expresses gratitude. Justina Egwenagu shared her discoveries from the fully funded catering programme under the H.O.J. Foundation, said she learnt the importance of taking the cost of pastries and the need to check the market prices of commodities before taking on a job. Appreciates the HOJ Foundation for empowering her to be a certified caterer ready to make an impact in the world of entrepreneurship. The origin of celebrating 'International Women's Day'. International Women's Day first took place on March 19, 1911, in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. Clara Zetkin proposed the celebration of International Women's Day every year in every country to press for their demands. In 1975, the United Nations recognised International Women's Year and began celebrating March 8 as International Women's Day to honour the achievements of women and promote women’s rights. International Women's Day (IWD) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is a day of unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy, and action and is celebrated in many countries worldwide. Every year, this day serves as a powerful reminder of the progress made towards gender equality and highlights the work that still needs to be done to inspire our women to be counted. The goal and mission of the NGO is to create a society where all rights exist and to empower youths, girls, other vulnerable females with human rights, sexual rights, and economic empowerment. To also build leadership skills through sensitization, advocacy, innovation, wellness creation, and research. To reduce the incidence of sexual abuse and GBV among vulnerable young girls and women through increased access to human and legal rights. During a conference held at LIFE premises in Lagos, the programme officer of the NGO, Ogechi Jessica Steven, gave pressmen an insight on the operations and achievements of the organisation so far since its establishment in 2012. She noted that LIFE has a crisis response centre to resolve issues such as sexual and reproductive health challenges like HIV and tuberculosis through capacity building by employing professional psychologists. As part of the movement for community intervention to promote equity and development amongst the youths since 2012, various sensitization programmes involving the police, community leaders, and market women in Oshodi Isolo and Alimosho environs have been recorded. "In 2016, with the support of the African Women Development Fund, LIFE collaborated with the community structures for health services in Oshodi Isolo, resulting in a 30% increase in S.T.I. treatments. "In 2017, LIFE was funded by 'Girl Generation' in order to focus on the elimination of ancient female gender mutilation practices through engagement with 400 community leaders. The project covered Oshodi Isolo for 10 months. In 2018, LIFE got funded to develop a pathway for several GBV survivors; however, COVID struck in 2020 and affected most of this project as there were more cases of GBV during COVID. In 2021, LIFE got support from AWDF to address the needs of women who were experiencing intersectional violence. A three-year grant was secured from 2023–2025 to that effect. The focus is to champion the rights of the vulnerable community, Ogechi stated. Ogechi also revealed that LIFE, as an NGO, has visited the office of the Minister of Education and given directives to sensitise schools around Oshodi Isolo. She said five government schools have been visited so far. Meanwhile, LIFE has successfully handled a total of 63 GBV cases, sensitising 8400 people between 2021 and 2023. Commends the Lagos State Government for taking gender-based violence ("GBV" as a matter of interest. Also, religious church leaders and imams have increasingly sensitised members on the need to report GBV cases, she added. Here's an excerpt of LIFE press statement over implementation of the 32- month project of GBV response, it reads: Leadership Initiative for Youth Empowerment (LIFE) Project with the support of African Women Development Fund (AWDF) is implementing a 32-month project to enhance amplifying Voices of Female Survivors for Effective Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Response in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, Lagos, Nigeria. The project's overall goal is to improve protection from sexual and gender-based violence for young girls and women through the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law (VAPP) 2015 Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The project trains community advocates drawn from existing community groups and local institutions to raise awareness on the provisions of the law for protection from rape, female genital mutilation, domestic violence, and female trafficking among grassroot communities in Local Government Area of Oshodi-Isolo. The project will impact the relationship between community members, the police and key government agencies that work in the field of gender-based violence. LIFE will work in the one local government area to empower beneficiaries with specific understanding of the legal requirements and reporting procedures to guarantee that communities take a more active role in reporting incidents of sexual and gender-based violence to the police and act as change agents in their local communities. The project funded by AWDF will provide training for 80 community champions who will return to their communities and conduct knowledge transfer sessions to reach 8000 community members in 4 months in Oshodi-Isolo LGA. Alleged debt: Firm prays Court of Appeal to quash order on takeover of property By Naomisophyblog Algrain Foods Limited and its managing director, Chief Anthony Obidulu, have approached the Court of Appeal in Lagos seeking to upturn the verdict of two high court judges empowering a receiver-manager, Emmanuel Adeyeye Oyebanji, SAN, to take over the company for alleged indebtedness. The appellants are praying the appellate court to set aside the judgement delivered by Justice H.R. Shagari of the Federal High Court, on February 23, 2018, in a suit between CSL Trustees Limited, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and the Central Bank of Nigeria vs. Algrain Foods Limited and Obidulu. In another separate appeal, the firm and its managing director are praying the appellate court to set aside the ruling, decisions and orders of Justice A. Lewis Allagoa of the Federal High Court, Lagos Division, made on October 18, 2021. Justice Allagoa had ruled that the receiver-manager, Oyebanji, had the legal right to take possession of the appellants' property due to the agreement between the parties in the credit facility offered the company. However in its ground of appeal, the company and Obidulu held that the lower court judges erred in law, stating: "There is before the trial court evidence of non-compliance with section 392(1), 396(1) and 397(1) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, Cap. C. 20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, by the receiver-manager appointed by the respondents that requires a mandatory service of statutory notice of appointment of receiver-manager and his remuneration on the registrar-general, Corporate Affairs Commission, and the first defendant/appellant, respectively, by the receiver-manager forthwith and or immediately after his appointment as required by the Companies and Allied Matters, Cap. C. 20, L.F.N. 2004, which was not complied with. "The learned trial court totally misconstrued the practical effect and application of Section 392(1), 396(1) and 397(1) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act. Cap. C. 20, L.F.N. 2004, when he failed in his duty to countenance that the category of abuse of court process was not closed and any failure to adhere to the stipulation of the law in initiating administrative and or legal proceedings as in the instant case before approaching the court for a remedy even where a cause of action has accrued is an abuse of the process of court. “The trial court's interpretation of the operative words of Sections 392(1), 396(1) and 397 (1) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act. Cap. C. 20, L.F.N. 2004, read together is perverse and its misinterpretation and misapplication has led to a serious miscarriage of justice and a perverse decision.” Meanwhile, lawyer to Algrain Foods, Aloy C Ezenduka, has raised the alarm that the receiver-manager has continued to take away the company's property despite the fact that the case is still on appeal. “Now, the government said before anybody can access that loan facility, you choose a bank and it has to be a bank for that particular facility and the bank should have access of the N400 billion; so, any money that is given out, you get a rebate from that fund. Instead of FCMB to do the needful, the bank went to the man's factory, saw that he was producing noodles, saw that he had very efficient working system with low overhead, so they wrote in that they were going to sponsor the man's business 100%. “Instead of giving the man an order of N100 million working capital, on their own, they said they wanted to give the man N350 million; but at the end of the day, they only gave the man N100 million from the facility and never gave the man the other tranche of money “When the auditors worked on the account, they found out that (the bank) collected more than N100 million from CDMU and they only gave the man N100 million. Meanwhile, they passed it through the man's account, a lot of money illegally passed through his account. Maybe he had an inefficient accounting system. They were using the man's ignorance to rip him off. It was when I came into the picture after the man was not satisfied with what the former man was doing after he refused to do comprehensive study. We did all these and found out that they were owing the man. “When I got into the matter, I found a new case asking the court to discharge or nullify the receiver-manager because, by the time he was appointed, the so-called facility was not due for payment. His six-month activity was supposed to expire in 2016, but Oyebanji was appointed receiver-manager in 2016. If you add the one year moratorium they gave, it would have ended in July 2017 and by that time they had already taken over the factory. “So, these were the issues we raised in the lower court. The lower court didn't want to listen to us. The court just raised three issues and said we should address the court on that and called mood against us. We appealed that decision. “The court told them, based on the question they brought for determination, that they had right and debenture to take possession and to sell without saying how much they can collect. “Assuming the man was owing N350 million, then you now sell over N20 billion worth of assets for N350 million worth of debt, is that not criminality and stealing? “In the case that brought Oyebanji to possession, they were saying it was based on mispresentation of material facts. It was not a bad debt and they have not called in the guarantee certificate, and the facility is 80%, principal and interest. So, from beginning to the end there was an intention to rip this man, to take over his factory, dissipate his asset and dupe him. “This is a typical example with Nigerian banks and borrowers but, unfortunately for them, the Court of Appeal, in one of the appeals, the file that concerns Oyebanji, gave me permission to bring the document they were concealing. That document shows the fraudulent nature of the entire transaction. “Immediately the court gave me the ruling that allowed me to furnish the documentary evidence, which is the certificate of guarantee, Oyebanji started moving material parts of the factory, between 1am and 3am every day.” Ezenduka has asked the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to investigate his senior colleague, Emmanuel Oyebanji, SAN, for alleged sale of his client’s assets worth N20 billion. Ezenduka, in a petition dated January 7, 2024, noted that Oyebanji, who was appointed as receiver-manager by CSL Trustees Limited on behalf of First City Monument Bank, following a N350 million loan dispute, allegedly converted, stole and sold the assets belonging to Obidulu and his company, Algrain Foods Limited, located at 15/17, Canal Avenue, Canal Estate, Okota, Lagos. The petitioner said the actions of Oyebanji and FCMB were reprehensible, as four court cases, two at the Appeal Court in Lagos (CA/L/CV/1021/2021 and CA/L/CV/1024/2021) and two at the High Court of Lagos State, were pending and trial ongoing. He said the cases at the High Court of Lagos State were instituted by Obidulu against Oyebanji, his law firm and FCMB, for trespassing over his property, alleging that despite the pendency of the suits, the defendants were discretely stealing and selling assets, comprising vehicles, heavy machinery and goods kept in the warehouse worth billions of naira. The petitioner accused the defendant of acting on “a purported judgement on appeal that claimed that FCMB was owed N350 million, when an audit report had shown that the company was not indebted to the bank or anyone.” However, Oyebanji has dismissed the allegations as fallacious and a deliberate attempt at misrepresenting facts, noting that the sale of the properties was backed by court judgements. “It is total fallacy and complete misinformation that the receiver has been stealing the assets of Algrain Foods but, rather, the assets were legally disposed of by virtue of the judgement. “There is no judgement or order from the Court of Appeal reversing the judgement of the Federal High Court,” Oyebanji said. Moreover, FCMB’s group head of communication and branding, Mr. Diran Olojo, denied any looting by the bank, saying, “t is not possible for a serious organisation like FCMB to loot a company. There is a receiver-manager who is backed up by the law to recover debt. The debt recovery does not concern FCMB. Besides, everything that the receiver-manager is doing is backed by the law. “The case is in the courts. Let the complainant wait for the decision of the court. FCMB is a serious organisation and would not be involved in petty things.”

ACVPN seeks justice over sexual harassment, attempted murder of a 15-year-old by her father's tenant in Lagos. By Onome Naomi Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN) has charged Nigerian police with fair practice over the case of sexual harassment, physical assault, and attempted murder perpetrated by one Henry Okezie on his landlord's 15-year-old daughter Fisayo. The said incident occurred on February 16, 2024, in the Meiran Area of Lagos. The victim's aunt who called ACVPN's attention said, a tenant who recently got married has been sexually harassing her 15-year-old niece. The perpetrator, by name Henry Okezie, is in the habit of harassing her niece and making promises such as marriage proposals. Fisayo, the victim, who is very knowledgeable of the antics of this nature, told her aunt, who had over time educated her about paedophiles. It all began when the victim, Fisayo, often ran errands for the perpetrator, named Henry Okezie, whose wife is currently pregnant. She noticed Henry's indecent behaviour towards her and informed her parents about his irresponsible approach. In response, her parents barred her from going on any form of errand for both Henry and his wife, as this is considered a red flag. The incident leading to Henry Okezie's arrest happened on February 16, 2024. The 15-year-old victim's aunt reported to ACVPN that her niece had just finished having a bath and walked into the room naked but was shocked to see Henry at the window staring at her. He asked her to open the door, aware that her parents had gone out. Unfortunately, Henry Okezie has been watching every movement of the victim's parents in order to strike. In anger, the victim dressed up and headed straight to Henry Okezie's wife to report her husband's sexual harassment, which infuriated Henry, who just wanted to secretly violate her. Henry, in a bid to silence the victim, immediately pounced on her, slapped her severely, lifted a huge stone, and threw it at the 15-year-old, hitting her chest. She passed out and was rushed to the hospital. Okezie Henry and his wife, seeing the result of their doings, approached the Meiran Police Station to cover their atrocities by reporting unfounded allegations about Fisayo, but were countered by her parents's report. The DPO CSP Fawewo of Meiran Division tried to mediate between parties to drop the sexual harassment charges and dwell on the other charges but was declined by both the parents of the victim and ACVPN on the grounds that the leading factor to the incident was as a result of sexual harassment and must be maintained. Henry, who is currently being detained at the Meiran Police Division, will be transferred to the Gender Unit next Monday for proper investigation and prosecution. Meanwhile, the doctors battled to revive the victim, who only came to consciousness almost 48 hours after the incident. The victim will require an X-ray to ascertain the level of damage to her chest. ACVPN is calling on the CP Lagos through the Gender Unit to take over this case because Okezie Henry and his wife must face the wrath of the law for their ungodly acts and irresponsible behavior. Okezie Henry and his wife should be made scapegoats to serve as deterrents to others. ACVPN is saying that what Okezie Henry did to the 15-year-old Landlord's daughter is unpardonable; it's a crime against humanity and must be treated as such. Okezie Henry's conduct is contrary to the; *The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). *The Child's Act 2002 *The Lagos State Children's Rights Law 2007 *The Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act (VAPP 2015). #JUSTICE FOR FISAYO ACVPN SAY NO TO ALL FORMS OF VIOLENCE #SAY NO TO SEXUAL VIOLENCE TO BOTH THE GIRL CHILD AND BOY CHILD Read more on: https://www.naomisophyblog.com.ng/acvpn-seeks-justice-over-sexual-harassment-attempted-murder-of-a-15-year-old-by-her-fathers-tenant-in-lagos/

Abuse of Power: K.A.I. shut down Mushin market for 9-days, demands N4m to reopen market -Traders lament in protest By Onome Naomi Mushin residents on Friday, February 16, 2024, woke up to a massive protest from traders at the Mushin market area in a register of displeasure over the shut down of sales for nine days as imposed by a Lagos state government body named K.A.I. (Kick Against Indiscipline). AMPEF Human Rights Advocates visited the affected area of the Mushin market to make findings on the reason for the closure as reported by the market traders. The Mushin market executives, Mr. Saliu Akanbi and Taiwo Alabede, gave the same accounts; they stated that at 7 a.m. on the morning of February 7, 2024, Kai stormed the market, went straight to the traders goods already packed, and threw them all on the streets of the market. A young man who dared to stop the act of wasting the consumables owned by struggling traders infuriated the officials who in turn shut the market, asking for N4,000,000 before the market can operate its day-to-day activities again. AMPEF coordinator, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche said LAWMA PRO, Mrs. Shade Kadiri affirmed in a call that LAWMA is unaware of the recent 9-day closure of the market by KAI as she directs the Mushin market executives to attend the environmental meeting in Alausa to register complaints. Some of the traders who spoke with pressmen present at the mild protest lamented bitterly over the loss of money as goods for sale are turning to rot and waste. Mrs. Ramota said her goods are perishable consumable goods that cannot be preserved for long before going to waste. She says she comes from very far every day in hopes that the market will reopen for her to sell her goods, but all to no avail. Another trader said she is a single mother of several children and solely depends on her daily sales for her livelihood. She complains that 9 days is an intolerable stretch of wasted time when she has mouths to feed and send to school. Alhaja Taibat Abdulhameed, a committee member of the Mushin market, said on the morning of February 7th, when the closure occurred, KAI, at about 7 a.m., was seen throwing away people's goods and was countered by someone for putting struggling traders into such debt in their absence instead of calling airing traders to order if there were any orders violated. Upon being countered by the daring young man who only tried to plead, Kai displayed a misuse of power, shut down the market on the allegation of obstruction of duty, and demanded 4 million naira unless remain closed. She says the closure of the market has affected her family greatly, reveals that her husband is also a trader in the same market, hustling for means to keep the home front running. Several other traders took to the streets of Mushin in a protest that almost turned wild to address KAI officials who parked operational vehicles at the market entrance to stop customers from patronising. A KAI official approached by human rights advocates over the issue said the protest will further prolong their punishment and fine, and there's nothing the traders or anyone else can do about it. AMPEF Advocate Comrade Prince Saviour led fellow comrades and pressmen to Mushin Market after an S.O.S. call by traders, demands that the Ministry of Environment takes swift action on KAI to reopen the market; otherwise, expect a radical protest. This assertion was made after a thorough investigation of the issue, which has led to massive wastage, untold hardship, and setbacks for traders. Comrade Prince Saviour Iche said: Considering the nation's economy, where people can hardly survive, it is inhuman to block people's source of livelihood and make outrageous demands of N4 million naira as fine; otherwise, the market will remain closed. It's high time the government began to checkmate this body over misuse of power and lay emphasis on jurisdiction, mode of operation, and conduct. If KAI is Kick Against Indiscipline and they portray Indiscipline in their duty, how then can they maintain law and orderliness in the state? The officials need sensitization on the mode of conduct; extortion and inhumane treatment of people must stop. Does Kai have the power to shut down a busy market for nine days and impose a fine of N4 million before reopening despite economic challenges? How police officers in Ikorodu arrest innocent youths, impose N30,000 bail By Onome Naomi A Team of policemen, lead by (aka Satin) has been accused of conducting raids which he allegedly arrests innocent youths and extorted money from them. The officer was alleged to have led his men at a popular bus stop Benson in Ikorodu, where some youths, who had their businesses were arrested by 11am on Monday morning. The officers were said to have stormed the area with a coloured mini bus Kolope. Immediately, the team was said to have taken all the suspects to Sagamu police station in Ikorodu where about 15 arrested youths were forced to pay money for Bail. One of the victims, Emmanuel Babatunde a 19 year old apprentice was arrested when he was sent for an errand by his boss to buy food. "They arrested me and handcuffed me, I'm not a criminal, they were demanding for N70, 000 from my family for what i didn't know about but they bargained with them and collected N30,000 cash to release me around 6 pm. Another victim, Ifeolwua Williams said he was detained for two days and paid N20.000 cash for bail. "I was standing beside my wares which I displayed under the Umbrella at the bus stop, that was where they accosted me and pushed me inside their bus. "I am struggling to make ends meet, I have barbing shop here, the officer told me that for long now he has been looking for a way to deal with me. "For Christ's sake, I have never crossed the officer's path or commit any crime and for this present situation someone collected such amount from me. "I asked for my offense but instead of explaining, they beat me up, look at my hands with injury", he said. Another person taken with them was a 28 year old bus ticketer, Abel Sunday, who had little problem with the bus he used to work with and was just waiting for mechanic to come over and fixed the fault for them at the bus stop when they picked him up and he paid N20.000 for Bail . Also another, victim, Uche Amachaghi was picked up at the same place, he paid N15.000 after he spent three days in the cell. Condemning the arrest, Ahlaji Kabiru Olarnewaju a concerned citizen of Nigeria, asked why most policemen raid popular bus stops on broad day light and made arrest of innocent person. "I have heard about how policemen arrest innocent persons, I didn't believe that until what we witnessed on Monday. "Benson bus-stop is a busy place where individuals stand to board buses to Lagos and other activities take place. "I learnt that the officers claimed that they were suspected cult members, but still collect money for their bail, why is it that most of these police officers always tarnish the reputation of the Nigeria police force? "I will advise the Commissioner of Police to redeploy some of these officers who had served for over three years in a station... Customer Leads Peaceful Protest To Access Bank Mushin Branch Over Unauthorised End-of-Month Charges, Gives 14-Day Ultimatum For N4.8m Refund By Onome Naomi A businessman who produces beauty enhancement products in Lagos led a peaceful protest to Access Bank Mushin Branch on February 8, 2024, over unauthorised debit alerts on his company account, now amounting to N4.8 million in total. The end-of-month charges as specified by the bank were discovered by the complainant (customer) some months ago with no prior notice, refund, or adjustment from the bank after reports had been made for investigation. The businessman, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, who is also known as a human rights advocate, said he was inclined to lead a protest to the bank to register his displeasure for not creating a resolution to the excess charges taken from his account weekly and monthly, respectively, as well as notify the public of the activities of Access Bank. When narrating his ordeal to the journalists present at the protest, Iche said: "Today, February 8, 2024, we demand that our money be investigated; every day there is an unauthorised deduction from Access Bank. We demand an explanation on why there are so many deductions, unlike other banks, which also have deductions but are not excessive. We are demanding our rights, and if nothing is done, we will make sure all Access Bank offices are shut down until they regulate their charges. We will use Access Bank as a scapegoat because all banks in Nigeria do almost the same thing. As a businessman who does transactions every day, I rarely take note of debit alerts from my account except those I initiate myself. But recently, around 11 p.m., I saw a debit alert from Access Bank of over N50,000, and this won't be the first time. As I further investigated the previous months, I found out it's been going on for a while now. After submitting my complaints to the bank for a correction or refund of excess charges, it became worse. Now I sometimes get debited the sum of N80,000–N90,000 as end-of-month deductions. There was a time they deducted the wholesome amount twice the same day. I came to the bank to complain, and they said perhaps there were carryover deductions from last month. I was surprised because the end-of-month deduction was also carried out last month. My complaint was noted, but with an unclear explanation stating that during the course of my account opening, I signed for a tax deduction. I asked to be shown the documents I signed, but they had no evidence. A letter has been written to Access Bank headquarters, and the reply was that their auditors will get to the root of the matter. For two months, I have not heard from them, even after writing another letter. Hence the reason for the protest is to make public our displeasure with an ultimatum of 14 days for a favourable feedback of a refund of N4.8 million. After 14 days from today, February 8, 2024, if Access Bank fails to return 4 million and eight hundred thousand naira to my account, we will drag them to court." Entrepreneur/Human Rights Activist and founder of AMPEF (Voice of the Voiceless Media), Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, further stated that the activities of Access Bank should be subjected to scrutiny for illegal deductions and other extortion vices of debits that occur in their customers accounts. The CBN should take disciplinary action against Access Bank with immediate effect. Onlookers who were also affected by excessive Access Bank deductions joined in the protest to also register their displeasure as to why such unfounded debit alerts occur in their accounts. One Mr. Emmanuel said he made a transaction to an account from his access bank account but didn't reach the recipient's account yet was debited. Association of Micro Entrepreneurs of Nigeria (AMEN) counters claim of N7bn reportedly allocated to SMEs, calls for probe of SMEDAN By Onome Naomi National president of Association of Micro Entrepreneurs of Nigeria Comrade Prince Saviour Iche in a statement counter reports by SMEDAN in the allocation N7bn to SMEs within 100 days in office. He said this on Monday 29th January, 2024 in a press conference organised to address the false narratives by SMEDAN while urging EFCC to probe the DG Charles Odii for misappropriation of funds. He revealed that that Business Member Organisation "BMO" has over 20,000 members across the nation and findings have been made by stakeholders to ascertain members who purportedly benefitted from the N7bn allocation to micro entrepreneurs but non gave positive response. To this effect B.M.O demands to know the names and companies of micro entrepreneurs the N7bn was allocated to, says the only real recognized micro entrepreneurs association is the 5 which makes up BMO and they are: Asbon, Man, Amen, Naseme, Nase and non has benefitted so far. Iche said: "We know that the government will eventually release some money but the people charged with the responsibility of distributing the funds are the major problem micro entrepreneurs have, there are also ghost entrepreneurs who will claim this figure by SMEDAN Micro entrepreneurs are the bedrock of an economy, also the largest employers of labour. With the recent rise in dollar and partially opened borders leading to economy downturn, micro businesses are closing down, how do Nigerians survive If the funds meant for micro entrepreneurs is allocated to ghost entrepreneurs manufactured by SMEDAN?." Comrade Prince Saviour revealed that on 20th January, 2024 a stakeholder's meeting was held at SMEDAN head office and the N7bn allocation was not mentioned. The new Director General's running of office is not advantageous to micro entrepreneurs, says IDC ( Industrial Development Centre) in Ikorodu with an expanse of land amounting to 19acres was given to land encroachers who have buildings erected on it instead of being utilized by micro entrepreneurs to build factories. Iche further revealed that In 2022, there was a grant by lagos state government for micro entrepreneurs, he applied for N10m and after accessing the worth of his business and documentations, he was qualified for N20m grant but was cleared for N10m. In excitement Iche said he planned to employ more labour and expand his business as well as help members benefit largely from the scheme. But to his dismay he was signed up for N90,000 and made to sign for N10m but to receive only N90,000 which still didn't get to his account. Says this and many other similar situations has left micro entrepreneurs frustrated amid the high prices of raw materials needed to produce as compared to costing in 2015. The rumor of N7billion given to micro entrepreneurs still remains a rude shock amid the suffocating situation micro entrepreneurs have suffered in the last 9years. There is need for a wake up call to counter manufactured figures by government bodies who uses the medium of allocations to embezzle funds into their pockets, BMO demands accountability by SMEDAN, we want to know those who benefitted from the N7bn. The allocation is not being utilized for it's original purpose and EFCC needs to swing into action, BMO is ready to sue SMEDAN if resolution isn't reached Iche added. "LET NIGERIA BREATHE, THIS IS OUR FATHERLAND AND WE ALL HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS" - PRINCESS LOVELINE AGBONIFO ADDRESSES FGN IN A BIRTHDAY SPEECH One of the most contentious human rights activists, Princess Loveline Agbonifo who's also the publisher of Voice Out Nigerian News, an online and print publication, the Director of Treasure House Media Organisation renowned for developing future leaders and an advocate for children's rights addresses FGN during a birthday speech delivered through a representative of Speak Up Nigeria International as she opined on thoughtless policies created and it's adverse effect on Netizens. Princess gave thanks to Almighty God for life and an added year, acknowledged the fact that it has been God who directed her steps in life. In her words: "I want to say that it is not easy, there are many who are also born on this day, but are no more. It is not by my power but is by God's grace. I want to say I feel so great, so good and honoured. I say thank you Jesus. "Using this medium of my birthday to wish Nigerians, The Best in this season and also to say that the government should have the citizens in mind as a priority. And if we love Nigeria we should desist from corruption, that is the only way to make Nigeria great." Further more, Comrade Loveline said her birthday is a means to address Nigerian leaders, says The Future Leaders are the children, with a heavy heart one cannot go ahead to talk about the future leaders without apologizing on the current dire situation presently felt by Nigerians for this is an abuse on their heritage. The children who have their rights, not to be abused or denied shouldn't witness the kind of leadership rulership Netizens are experiencing today . Children have been neglected and abandoned by the Government who refused to give them their rights. The type of leadership style we are facing in Nigeria today, has made the children lose hope on what they call leadership and this is so sad. She also said, the high prices of things as the situation worsens daily is a total destabilizer of hope for the future leaders." She appealed to the leaders, says they should look into the high prices of goods and services in Nigeria because it will lead to more insecurity as many children will not be taken care of by their parents as well as future threatened. Princess Loveline went further to say: "Counting of my age today is not necessary because age is just a number, being over 40 brings a certain realisation as to whether one has been able to make positive impacts in the society, in quantification I will applaud myself for being able to over come hurdles to be a better person for myself , my children and my immediate family but is my country of birth really a safe dwelling? Is everything fine with the leadership? Something is obviously wrong with the leadership of my country Nigeria but if otherwise then, I will be deceiving myself, may God help us. As an activist also, is not really easy seeing this present government taking this country backwards to nothing. it is a shame to have a country like Nigeria and nothing is working. A very big shame I want to say again that this present government does not really mean well for this country." She emphasize, Nigeria belongs to everyone and not some specific people: "Nigeria is for everybody; it is my father's land and I have equal rights as every individual in this country, likewise every other person even a day old baby; so nobody should own it more than any other person. If anything is going wrong in the country everyone of us has the right to speak out, this is our Dear Nation" She said. "As an activist we cannot stop advocating for better Nigeria as for those that are on top who believe that whosoever advocate for better Nigeria should be silence by being arrested or killed. Talking of good leadership, the people have rights to speak out in one accord when things are going wrong, afterall, there were previous leaders and there will still be Leaders after when the present administration leaves. If their predecessors were killing or arresting people, I don't think they would have the privilege to be there today so they should let Nigerians breathe" She urged Nigerians to keep to the pledge in our National Anthem and pledge, says in the Yuletide season, 85% of Nigeria children will be begging for alms, 10% will be affected with insecurity while 5% will be celebrating. As one of the mothers of the Nation and national pride I will not stop praying for the unity and progress of this country and want to say that so many things are wrong with our leadership style. I want to see that what is said in the pledge and national anthem is put into practice; if not, the spirit of our past heroes will strike anyone who do not keep to the national pledge we recite daily. Let our constitution work for us, let the law stand and let there be Justice." Corruption should end on the table of the leaders that is the only way we can get it right She ends by admonishing INEC and the Judiciary system to seize from corrupt practices else they will face law of karma soon. "Long live Nigeria! Long live Future leaders and long live the Lovers of better Nigeria!!

The leadership of Igbo speaking community Lagos refutes claims of crowning criminal elements, strictly adhere to constitution. By Onome Naomi In a press statement released by the leadership of Igbo speaking community on 14th Dec. 2023, the socio cultural organisation had debunked claims that a newly crowned Ezendigbo of Festac, Ogbuagu prosper had bribed the organization with N2m to buy leadership role in Festac jurisdiction. More also, the group says his arrest is subject to matters not related to his leadership role as Ezendigbo Festac, he should not be termed a criminal until declared by the court of law. The communique read out by the secretary of Igbo Speaking Community Lagos, Engr Chuks Odimegu and interpreted by the PG High Chief Sunday Udeh giving an insight as to the organogram in the running of the organization with legal backings to its claims shows that, the concocted insinuations by a faction who will stop at nothing to bastardize the essence of a unified front due to greedy intentions will always want to stand as a strong force but should be aware that the constitution must be adhered to. Clearing the air on certain issues arising in the leadership of the organization, Sunday Udeh said, the council of Ndi Ezes was established in 2005 and has carried out duties creditably. In 2023 Eze Dr Chika Nwokedi emerged as the head of council, the issue of setting another council purportedly headed by one Eze Chris Offia whom was appointed by the leadership of Chief Solomon Ogbonna and who's tenure elapse 2022 does not hold waters. High Chief Sunday Udeh, the President General of Igbo Speaking Community Lagos said the Ohaneze is not subject to crowing Ezes, what they have is "Eze Udo" which has no meaning in the Igbo context. On the other hand, the Igbo speaking community in Lagos crowns Ezes as Ezendigbo of a particular jurisdiction with due recommendations from the kings in far east, Ezendigbo is constitutional and was formed by the Igbo speaking community. He who disputes the authenticity of a crowned Eze by the organisation should go to court. On the matter of crowning Ezendigbo in every community, Sunday Udeh said in 1998, various areas in Lagos state was having crises between the Yorubas and Igbos. The Obas were the only present leaders and therefore make decisions concerning the 2 tribes which led to more crises. In this sense, the Ezendigbo was formed so that the igbo speaking community can have a leader as well that will represent in decision-making. The Oba and Eze can then come together, make decisions to broker peace between the two tribes in Lagos state. With proof, the creation of a leader in the various communities has worked and brought peace between igbos and yorubas in Lagos, the tenure of an Eze is 8yrs, can be more that due to arising circumstances. Secondly, the Ezendigbo was created to promote the Igbo culture in other states. To buttress on the points on which Igbo faction has the rights to crowning Ezendigbo in Lagos, Eze Barr. Dr. Chukwumobim Apachi Enyioha- The Eze Ndigbo Ozurumba Gburugburu I of IWEREKU, Bogije, Ibeju Lekki LGA who has practiced law for 29yrs says the ultimatum given by Eze Udos in contrast to a constitutional title is ridiculous. Reveals Ohaneze was formed in 1952, it's constitution was written in 1953, nowhere in the article says Ohaneze can make Eze, the community makes an Eze as seen in the case of Eze Prosper Ogbuagu Ezendigbo Festac who got recommendation from the kings in his hometown as requested by Igbo speaking community and was verified before proceeding to being crowned. See press statement below for more clarity on the stands of Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos. IGBO SPEAKING COMMUNITY IN LAGOS AND COUNCIL OF NDIEZE IGBO LAGOS STATE FROWN AT NDI ΕΖΕ UDO'S INTRUSION IN HER AFFAIRS With sequel reference to a press conference held on Monday 11th December 2023 by Ndi Eze Udo title holders headed by one Eze Chris Offia as its Chairman, with the theme; setting the straight on crowing of Ezeship and administrative related issues in the community. The Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos and the Council of Ndi Eze Igbo wish to jointly make the following statements of fact. 1. That the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos by the act of its constitution which was duly approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on the 15th of October 1998 with RC No. 11534 has the legality to regulate, nominate, screen, approve and crown any qualified Igbo man as Eze Ndizbo in Lagos State, Local Government and Communities within its jurisdiction. 2. With the above constitutional empowerment, the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos has been carrying out this responsibility of crowning an Eze in Lagos State since 1999 till date, without any intrusion by any association, organization or individual in or outside Lagos states. 3. Ohanaeze Ndigbo, traditional rulers from the south, east, all the Igbo association both within and outside Lagos including the host communities has been very supportive of this noble responsibility. 4. The criteria/constitutional requirement for Ezeship in Lagos includes among other. a) Presentation of candidates by the immediate community (LGA) to Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos (State Chapter). b) Screening of candidates by a designated committee. c) Letter of consent by the candidates town's union. d) Letter of approval by the candidate's traditional ruler of his community in the South East. The above can be referred from the constitution of Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos, page 12, Article 7, section 2-7. 5. Based on the number of Ndieze Igbo crowned over the years spreading across local governments areas in Lagos State, the Igbo Speaking Community, constituted a council of Ndieze Igbo in Lagos which becomes an organ of the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos. 6. The Council of Ndieze Igbo Lagos State was formed in the year 2005.Ever since, it has been carrying out its functions creditably. Currently the council is headed by Eze Chika C. Nwokedi, Eze Okpoko, Eze Ndigbo Ijegun/Ijedodo. 7. The issue of setting of another council purportedly headed by one Eze Chris Offia whom was appointed by the leadership of Chief Solomon Ogbonna and who's tenure elapse since last year (2022) does not hold waters. 8. The Eze Udo's Title Holders is an institution created/owned by Eze H.N Ohazulike which are his representatives in various Local Government and as such are his cabinet members. In Igbo culture and tradition, a does not crown another King but Chiefs, therefore all the Eze Udo title holders headed by Eze Chris Offia are causing confusion and chaos all over Lagos, they are advised to revert to status quo and make peace with their principal. 9. There is nowhere in the National Constitution of Ohanaeze Ndigbo that empowers them to regulate, certify, screen or crown an individual as Eze Ndigbo or whatever nomenclature in any part of this world. Ezeship is solely the responsibility of the community where Igbos resides and accordingly to their constitutional provisions/requirements. 10. Ohanaeze Ndigbo (Imeobi Enugu) as an apex Igbo Social Cultural organization has no business whatsoever in descending so low to dabble into affairs/activities of Ndigbo in diasporas especially as it Ezeship in Lagos 11. The Major aim and objective of having Ezeship in diasporas is that they are custodians of Igbo culture and traditions. This can be seen in the constitution of Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos page 15, Article 7; Section 6. They also help to promote the culture of speaking Igbo Language among our Children. 12. institution in diasporas vis-à-vis Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos promotes cordiality between Ndigbo and the host community. 13. Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and Afenifere are all social cultural organization on same platform and representing the interest of the south-easterners, northerners and the westerners. It has never been heard in any quarters that Afenifere or ACF has dabbled into traditional issues of Yorubas or Hausas in diaspora or imposition of Leaders in diaspora. 14. the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos and Council Ndi Eze Igbo Lagos State vehemently reject the content of the said press conference in totality and in entirety held last Monday (11th December, 2023). 15. The Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos and the Council of Ndi Eze Igbo is hereby warning the Eze Udo title holders or any other organization including individuals to henceforth desist from meddling into the affairs of the Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos or the Council of Ndi Eze Igbo Lagos. If in any event it happens, we will be left with no option than to seek redress in a court of law to defend her constitutional right. Enough is enough. Ndi Igbo in Lagos are contented and happy with the Lagos State government and the host communities, they do not need an outside influence or saboteurs that goes around trying to create troubles between Ndi Igbo and the Host Community. Human Rights Activist Blast Enugu First Lady For Involvement In Re-opening Of Tender Links School Marked For Closure Over defilement Of 3yr-old By Teacher. By Naomisophyblog Video making rounds on the internet shows a representative sent by her excellency Nkechiyere Mbah to reopen a school shut down over the defilement of a 3yr old by her teacher Nnena Favour in the know of the proprietress, Mrs Ngozi Ezebatu of Tender Links school Tender Links school reopening on 11th Dec. 2023 following a shut down for being in cohort with a molester Nnenna Okoro a teacher in the said school over the defilement of a 3yr old has triggered a public outburst from AMPEF. The human rights group chaperoned by Comrade Prince Saviour Iche had maintained unwavering stance in the defence of the victim. He said the victim's last point of call to get justice is the judiciary who have further delayed prosecution of the perpetrator; The case was adjourned for hearing on 13th December 2023 but unfortunately the court didn't seat owing to no known reason. Comrade Iche Saviour said in the case of a 3yr old toddler molested by a 42 year-old woman presumably her teacher, the proprietress of Tender Link School Mrs Ngozi Ezebatu has not shown any form of sympathy towards the victim by way of visit or concern which makes her an accomplice to the act. Reveals as at 11th of December 2023, the 3yr old child molested was still bleeding from her private area, her womb has been affected as seen through medical reports. The only shady efforts made by Ngozi Ezebatu was to send unknown persons to the victims' home. Reports has it that, the invaders sent by Ezebatu visited the victims' house unnoticed, took pictures of the home and surroundings in the most suspicious manner, neighbours noticed, raised an alarm which caused the strangers to quickly disperse, Iche said. Comrade further says, "As a mother, whose school teacher had committed such atrocity, being unsympathetic and unconcerned passes a message of complicity with the suspect Mrs Nnenna Favour over the molestation of the pupil. Evidently, Mrs Ngozi Ezebatu is soliciting for the release of the molester instead of ensuring justice for the victim therefore tainting the image of her school. DPP lawyer representative Mrs Ngozi Okoye is a factor that should be scrutinized for her involvement in the opening of the school she claim was done for investigation purposes. AMPEF is saying her reason is false in contradiction with the narrative expressed by Ezebatu to her returning parents, she boasted that her school was reopened after spending money around, affirm she's got some strong connect to overshadow the victim, truncate justice by getting the perpetrator out of jail without sentence. The mother of the victim Mrs Jennifer Terry is stupefied at DPP's role in reopening of the school instead of being upholder of justice. The initial adjourned date of 13th December 2023 has not been established as there was no court sitting and no representative from DPP as initially planned." Comrade Iche had approached the media for public attention over the misgivings of the justice system especially DPP. The lawyer representative from DPP, Barr. Ngozi Okoye at the very last moment withdrew interest to stand for victim, exonerated herself from blames by sending a video showing the Enugu state govt through the first lady of the state Nkechiyere Mbah and Commissioner of Education Enugu had sent a representative to reopen Tender Link School. The representative clearly stated in the video that the wife of the governor had ordered a re-opening as against justice for a 3yr old robbed of her womb. The question now is: Where in the law or constitution allows the wife of a sitting governor make decisions over the affairs of the state by instructing the commissioner to do her biddings in sensitive matters such as this? Is she really aware of the defilement situation leading to shut down of Tender Link School? If yes, What steps has she taken to cushion the grief by way of visiting the victim? Iche noted. Iche said, the possibility that the governor's wife Nkechiyere Mbah is aware of the bizarre perpetrated and still order a reopening of school instead of aiding justice is in context. Says as the case unfolds, efforts will be made to discover other victims who have remained anonymous due to public stigmatization or have been bribed by the proprietress to remain silent. So far, about four families who had maintained anonymity in the past have come out to testify about being victims by same teacher Nnenna Favour On this note, AMPEF founder Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, the voice of the voiceless along sides other comrades is saying, the governors wife Nkechiyere Mbah should come out and clear her name, also demand an immediate arrest of the Proprietress of Tender Link School for being compliant with the molester. Proprietress of Tender Links School in cohort with lesbian teacher over defilement of 3yr old - AMPEF, Mother seeks justice for child. By Onome Naomi Ambassadors of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation AMPEF advocates the case of a 3year old minor defiled on 3rd November 2023 by her school teacher Nnenna Favour Okoro of Tender Links School Trans Ekulu, Enugu. The deliberate outright support accorded to the lesbian teacher by her employer Mrs Ngozi Ezebatu proprietress of the school has built suspicions of collaboration between this two to defile minors for the purpose of ritual or other purposes. Defilement of minors in Tender Links School is said to have occured more than 4times on different occasions but kept anonymous. AMPEF implores FGN, state government in Enugu, Ministry of Education to close down school till further notice over the damages done to a female minor of 3yrs by her school teacher Nnenna Okoro Favour so as to avoid future occurrences. After the horrid incidence, the consistently bleeding minor had a damage to her uterus as a result of the finger penetration perpetrated on her forcefully by her teacher. Naomi Sophy Blog gathered during a phone interview with the mother of the molested minor Mrs Jennifer Terry that the occurrence happened on 14th November, 2023 when her little daughter got back from school with a heavy flow of blood gushing through her private part into the pampers she was wearing. Upon questioning, the minor affirmed her teacher scratched her vagina area and has repeatedly confirmed the perpetrator is culpable of the said crime even before the DPO Fredrick Azubuike of Abakpa Police Division in Nike area of Enugu State where the case was reported for investigation and thorough examining. Mrs Terry noted that SP Fredrick Azubuike DPO Abakpa Police Division carried out some verbal conversational test with the baby trying to affirm the incidence but she didn't waver, the minor repeatedly affirm the situation, he then transferred the defilement case to the SCID for further investigation. The DPP's advice had led to the reopening of the school for investigation to commence on other pupils who have same experience but wants to be anonymous about it. The reopening of the school didn't sit well with the minor's mother, says it is an outright show of support accorded to the perpetrator as displayed by the erring proprietress who consistently mock at the minor's mother boasting she will use money and connections to get her school running with or without justice for the minor. Information has it that the proprietress Mrs Ngozi Ezebatu of Tender links School aided her teacher to commit molestation act all too often on children and shut them up into anonymousity. When Nnenna Okoro the alleged molester was arrested, the school proprietress stood solidly behind the teacher to truncate justice by cooking up stories to implicate the mother of the minor but failed due to the testimony of the little girl who didn't bulge on her replies and affirmations. Mrs Terry also revealed that her life and that of the daughter is being threatened by the constant unknown faces visiting her domain to frighten her into dropping the course of justice for her kid. Moreso, Mrs Ngozi Ezebatu proprietress Tender links didn't initiate any form of visit to the home of the affected child for evaluation of the situation or personally examine the extent of damage done, there was no visit to pacify the distraught mother, instead she moves about with microphone and drums to inform people including Jennifer that she has reopened her school and no case or devilish plan can stop her. In a PTA meeting held by Ngozi the proprietress of Tender links Schools after the reopening, she told parents she will do everything possible to truncate justice by aiding the release of the perpetrator Favour Okoro who was arraigned before a magistrate court in Enugu. The next hearing which will come up on 13th Dec. 2023, the said date Mrs Ezebatu is set to orchestrate the release of Favour Okoro, the lesbian teacher. Naomi Sophy Blog contacted the DPP to ascertain the reasons for aiding the reopening of the school when the said case is in court for examining, Barr.
