Mr. Wise listen. Listen carefully and well too. Cursing from here till eternity will not take you anywhere. it wont make your statement correct.

All I asked for your evidence that ALL catholics were asked to vote obi. If you are a catholic, maybe your own church asked you. They didnt ask or cajole us in my own. Infact it was the opposite. Some priests might have done so but the catholic church NEVER did so. It doesnt make sense since almost 80% of the contestants were all catholics.

Are you now saying that Obi is more catholic than others or probably you didnt know all those other people are catholics too.

Poor you! cheesy

I disagree with you on that one. In the last year's election, many who contested under ACN in Anambra central won because of Ngige. Most of them were even unknown!

Believe me, all it takes for ACN to take over anambra is for Ngige to say it! As simple as that!

APGA is without any charismatic leadership and also not well organized for people to listen to them. Soooo sad!

deshclones: peter obi connived with the roman catholics hierarchy..infact rev fathers specifically devoted morning and evening masses to talk about the supposed good of adaobi...the catholics were all asked and cajoled to vote for him...infact on election day proper...the bells of all the catholic churches in the state sounded at exactly 10am and 12.30pm..signalling and reminding the catholics to troop out and vote for the rev's anointed candidate adaobi..ask around... wink wink wink wink
aint you guys tired of that poo.

i have a rev fr. brother and i know his position on obi. in my own parish i also know the position of all the priests there on obi.
Why do people like making careless unsubstantiated statements. Can you bring up an evidence that all Catholics were asked to vote obi?

is ngige not also catholic?
is ekwunife not also catholic?
is soludo not also catholic?
Shymmex,

I don't understaqnd what you meant by credit and recognition for Ijebus and Egbas for growth and development in Eko? When we talk about Yoruba Nation the Ijebus are fond of standing out and claiming they are not Yorubas, they are Ijebus. This thread is about defining whether Yorubas own the land in Eko or not? The list of contributors to growth of Eko is a very diverse and long one but when we discuss land endowment in Eko there is only one ownership and that is the Aworis, a Yoruba people taking their political authority from the Alaafin of Oyo, as denoted by their insignia of rulership, the Irukere.

Generally, land in Lagos State is owned by a coalition of Egun, Awori & Ijebu, but in Eko proper, only Awori has claim to that land.
The country isnt even separated already and the yorubas are already fighting for the real owners of lagos.

Ok we go see naa. grin grin grin
PoliticsRe: The Controversy Over Lagos. . . .na Who Own The Land ? by onyengbu: 12:37pm On May 07, 2012
jason123: There will still be as long as there are Yorubas in other states. This is simple logic.

Yes they do but they obey the laws of the land. If they are not US citizens and the State government decides to get rid of them, it will be done by deportation. The same thing can be applicable.
The OP never said anything about break up. He is talking about NOW and you guys are jumping all over the place with nigeria's break up.
My point remains that Nigeria is still unbroken and might remain so for ever! My question then is why are you guys harping more on this break up issue more than any other person.

What happened? cheesy

CyberG: Alh, no I am not angry, why would I? I repeat when the law that upholds Nigeria currently expires; EVERYONE including the posters MUST carry their slippers on their heads and LEAVE. Simple! If you are lucky enough, Naija stays like it is but once everyone gets their own country, you will either leave or become permanently unavailable. No need to get angry about it!!
You guys are becoming more desperate about nigeria's break up more than the biafrans.
What happened grin is it because of abandoned properties or could it be that the northerners are disappointing you guys already in the current nigerian arangement?

what ever it is, stop praying that nigeria will disintegrate cos it might never happen and there might no longer be owners and settlers in lagos in the next 50 years. Can you tell me who is a settler in New York? Do yoruba people not also own lands in new York?
This announcement by the FG is another show of shame and gross incompetence. Haba!! If the FG does not have enough information to arrest these so-called sponsors, their names should not be released in the first place because they may only be guilty of harassment by the FG.

The FG needs to just arrest these sponsors and may the chips fall where they may. If the released list does not reflect federal character then its a useless list.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Releases Video On Thisday Bombing, Threatens To Attack VOA, Guardian by onyengbu: 1:46pm On May 02, 2012
Whymee: Video of this kind is not helping situations like this.

The post read "BOKO HARAM RELEASES VIDEO ON THISDAY BOMBING THREATINGS TO ATTACK VOA, GUARDIAN...."

Dear NL let's be sincere to ourselves, in a video of 18 mins, less than 38 seconds shows evidence pointing to the post, remaining seconds shows Muslims praying, given sermons, commercial activities in the north, okada riot, video after math of the THISDAY bombing as recorded by other media, channels, pandemonium at various bombs scenes etc.

What actually is the aim of this video, to link Islam to BH?

Yet the poster says the video was posted by BH on YouTube.

Am not saying BH does not exist, but authenticity of this video is questionable and bias

Sincerity of this video stopped when the actual bombing of the thisday building took place around 37 second of the video.
Immediately after the real bombing, a commentary started and the commentator not seen all throughout the rest of the video.

Does every man that speaks Arabic language a Muslim?
I can also bet it that the translator is also a non Muslim

Is this post really geniune with the attached video.

Video and commentaries like these is actually not helping PEACE, but it's Killing PEACE

This video is fabricated to cause more harm that good between Christians and Muslim.

THINK WISELY.
Are you saying Boko Haram did not bomb Thisday?

Cos as we speak, every body now knws the scam behind the fuel subsidy, we are clappin' when our president has no power to prosecute them, now we knw that "boko haram is pdp, pdp is boko haram" we are clapping, our president is also clapping, after bombin, we would condemn, our president would condemn...... Ok o, no problem, we would clap till 2015.....
It appears you even have more than one reason to clap in the first instance.

Now nigerians know all these things on official level and not on speculative basis as it used to be in the past.

GEJ is not the best of Presidents and not even close to what we want him to be but you've got to cut the guy some slack!

Calling him names only endears more people to his side but how would most of you know that...you think nairaland is nigeria!
PoliticsRe: President Jonathan Has An 81% Approval Rating: Gallup Poll by onyengbu: 10:46am On May 02, 2012
Chanchit: It simply means dt they should be tried, now dt their names have been mentioned, or because they mentioned their names under GEJ tenure we should clap for him, then wait for the next pres' to come and try them....?
Yes you have to clap first that at least for the first time someone has got the will to mention their names! Then you wait for them to be tried before you start crying. You just have to wait and thats all you and I can do right now!
Prosecution is not mai mai as you and I know especially when the accused was not caught directly.
Remember, Ndume has been to court already.
Prosecuting such crimes have never been easy anywhere and thats why a person like Al capone survived countless prosection in the US even though everyone knows he kills people but where is the evidence!

Remember ibori was acquitted until the london court later send him to jail. huh
Yes exactly they didnt commit the crime under GEJ but we got to know MUCH about them under GEJ meaning that he atleast did or is doing something about them.

Ibori was not acquitted under GEJ and even at that I wont blame the president under whose tenure he was acquitted because he might not have been responsible for it.

Do you guys think that Presidents are like God who knows when each governor steals and therefore will be willing to stick out his neck to convict him. They mustnt know everything.

Should we also blame the president for countless idiots here on nairaland who go to cybercafe to hack into their timer just to be able to browse free and insult the president.

Jonathan is responsible for everything that happens within his tenure and should stop bitching about who dragged us into this.besides, trillions of naira keep disappearing every year with little to justify its usage.
Thats exactly what i am not saying!

The successive government were the cause not GEJ, blaming GEJ for what has been going wrong in the system for over 30 years is not only unreasonable but shortsightedness. Nobody is saying he should not solve it but so far, he has shown the will to tackle them and thats why we got to hear about these things in the first place.

And it is comment like yours that make me realize how badly our educational system has been decaying.

Why not open your mind and face issues without emotion but reson. Ndume's name was mentioned under GEJ's tenure. Are you arguing that? If these people's names were mentioned under GEJ whereas they have been operating b4 GEJ what does that tell you?

The poll is just a ruse as IT DOESNT REPRESENT THE TRUE FACTS ON GROUND.This is akin to the previous report that said Nigerians are the happiest in the world and i was like WTF with the poverty and insecurity in the land ? huh
Nigerians have been starving since 1983, it is nothing new. what happened to ndume?
what happened to sheriff?
what happened to shekarau?
gej himself said they know their sponsors, where are they?
You are just dishing out names as if you were the one who manufactured them in the first place.

Is it not under the same GEJ government that you got to know about those names and the roles they might have played in this Boko Haram issue. Why is everybody suddenly becoming smaarter than the government. Cheap internet abi? Ok naa. If you have an overwhelming evidence against these people why not go to court and demand that they are prosecuted with your incontrovertible evidence. SMH

PoliticsRe: President Jonathan Has An 81% Approval Rating: Gallup Poll by onyengbu: 8:58am On May 02, 2012
dmainboss: There has been an unprecedented level of corruption in Nigeria since I was born. If you think Nigerians are going to take that on Jonathan, you will be deceiving yourself. That is not likely going to change his approval rating. If fact, there has never been an open opportunity to expose corruption like you have now, so that is actually a plus on him. The signing of the FOI bill and the repeal of the official secrets act is a huge huge plus for Jonathan.
Exactly my point! People here keeps shouting corruption this and that but they are yet to prove that it started during GEJ era!

Nigeria has been getting more and more corrupt before GEJ and most times people speculate about these things but now under GEJ, we have heard and seen how all those things are carried out. Shouldnt that be a plus to the man? He could have suppressed all the exposures (like his predecessors) and yet NOTHING would have happened. But he allowed everything to come out in the open.
How else should corruption be tackled if not by exposing then. First step to healing is admitting theres a problem.

On the other hand, boko haram is a phenomenom that will ake time for any nigerian leader to tackle. Common these people stepped up their attacks and we know that our borders and security has been porous for decades. if you expect GEJ to perform miracle overnight then you are asking for too much because these things took a long time to decay and therefore, it will take even longer time to correct.

By the way, why do nairalanders think their opinion is the opinion of 120 million nigerians. Havent 'Buhari has won' of 2011 taught any of you some lessons? grin

If thats the case, anybody can score A1 in nine subjects. But you can hardly be sure if thats the true mark, since most of this exam-markers are not accurate or reasonable.
So wat r u saying then.

There might be up to 1000 students nationwide who got nine A1s but the fact remains that some got it with higher percentages and it wont make sense awarding about 1000 candidates as the best.

Kobojunkie: The definitions are not based on whether a president was eventually sworn in or not. We need to stop robbing ourselves of common dignity by constantly looking for ways to create excuses for our elected officers.

1993 has for a long time now been known as the year of our third republic. To attempt to erase that simply because we want to save an official from being wrong is simply dishonest. If you want to move the marker, at least start by making sure you re-write the rules, and history first.
So if it has wrongly been referred to as the 3rd republic for that long, it now a sin for someone to try to correct that wrong notion just to please you and others that wish to believe that the president is not sound or because it has been a long time?
