rychard: Great question, and I agree with you. The people of igbo extraction who are governors should strive to work even harder to make a statement, and back the saying that igbos are industrious, I'm hoping the upcoming younger generation are those who'd take these stereotypes seriously . If we're talking about the likes of Orji Uzor Kalu as igbomen who could make nigeria an envy to USA, GB etc, then we all know that's never going to happen. Let's allow intelligence to prevail fellow nigerians... 1 Like |

SLAP44: Err, I disagree with the rhetoric, however, I do agree that for fairness and equality an Igbo Man should be supported for president next election. So in order words, although I agree with what you're saying, I'd say it in a milder way in order not to provoke negative jealous sentiments from the myriads of tribes surrounding igboland. |

Dagrace01: My community for starts is right on the Atlantic ocean, the obolo people have over 50kms of water front facing the atlantic ocean. The current map of abia state ends on the imo river which flows directly into the Atlantic ocean barely 20kms away. Ikwerre people's territory are on the Abonema Wharf, and many more options. Know thy map, know thy history, stop taunting those who want to breakaway from Nigeria, it could become a self fulfilling prophecy for you. And, Please don't tell me that you don't know that over 65 percent of the people residing in Lagos are not Yoruba people but all Nigerians, even people from other west african countries too. A break up of Nigeria will turn lagos state to a shadow of itself and those iGRs you're talking about would vanish. Why do you guys wish for this on yourselves? Or mockingly joke about this? Everyone's reading these threads and these taunts stand as proof of push for those on the fence about this issue. The people clamoring for this are a majority tribe in the country and their screams of marginalisation is legit, they've never been allowed to rule the country, their zone is the only one with 5 states while every other zone has 6 even though there are large swats of Areas in the SS and MB with igbo and igboid people, the oil resources from the area is collected without recourse to the communities or the zone and is used to develop other regions. How easy can it be for us to be reasonable? for those of you who really claim to love nigeria and want it succeed. How about we stand a ground and say this is wrong? We can not claim to be one while a major tribe is being disrespected this badly. With the large Population of people who are middle class or wealthy in the SE/SS and a huge diaspora, all he needs is less than 0.5% people from that region to give him a measly 10 dollars a month each and thats over a Billion Naira Monthly. That may not be enough money to wage war but it's enough to continue to bring negative press and other factors that's not enabling for any country and everyone suffers. He who holds a man down, has to stay down too, why cant we be reasonable? Anyways as per headline, I didnt see a link or account number of the said charity to contribute, so how do they expect those who want to contribute to contribute? 3 Likes |

In otherwords, one's own opinion of theirself is not enough as we do not exist in this world alone. We need to know what other people see us as and find a proper balance. Your opinion is well noted though! |

But your username though? it's misleading, too intellectual for you, I'd rather your username was something like Oily-Pussy or something more comical, cause you're funny! Ok, so you've made me laugh, I'm happy and I want to make you happy too, so I'll just agree to make your day easier. So you're saying, the Igala people enslaved the entire igboland , okay! okay! Agreed! Yaaaay! Three gbosa for the Igala people, they're super warriors! And now metaphysical is happy as a puppy! Yay! And three gbosas for the hausa people too, they enslaved north kwara aka the entire yorubaland?, they're super soldiers! Yay! Just messing with you. Sending nothing but peace, prosperity and positive vibes your way - You have a great week sir! P/S: My grandfather's dad worked for the Royal Niger Company in the late 1880's, they had their regional head office in my very own community at a point. Alot of the slave snatching, trading, exporting, treaty signing etc was done and witnessed by people from my community. So while this is all some phantom history for most nigerians, this is more like family history for me. I have undiluted first account stories. Deuces! 3 Likes 1 Share |

You've been on the offensive since you jumped in with an obvious intent to undermine the igboness of the anioma people. That itself is an emotional conversation for those from there, I can imagine. The polity is very heated right now, nigerians are at each others throat, to you - you're just having fun on NL trying to have an "intelligent conversation" by whipping up people's emotions on a very sensitive topic, you're not helping. 20 years ago I was an open minded young Nigerian open to all nigerian tribes, today unlike you I can not claim to be that. All because of the hate I consume on nairaland from comments and zingers like yours. We could all do better, God help us all! |

Oh but we should join you in SW? and be obliterated? how much cocooning have you guys done for the very few ijaws who resided in ondo state? Read negro, PLEASE read and slowly - im from one of those small communities in the SS and i'm pro SE, they're who most of the tribes here in SS have been in cahoots with for over 500 years. So if you really want this country to be together, then stop trolling, poking and taunting the SE because if they successfully break out of today's nigeria you best believe the Aro tribes of the SS is going with them, that should come as common sense to you people, but the denial in this forum is deep. And hey! sell your fear and vitriol of the SE to the edos, itshekiris, isokos that are posting here, they might be interested! No offence to anyone, just stating facts. 5 Likes |

Deadlytruth: Well atleast I've given you a reason to stop using his name, most people writing do not know much about this man, and ofcourse the biggest noise makers get noticed first, him being one ofcourse. One of the strongest strongholds of IPOB is in Oyigbo in Rivers State, because they never get raided by police compared to the SE states, not sure why maybe Gov. wike is a closet ipobian, who knows, but point is, if you really needed proof to know whether not people of the ND were part believers in the Biafran story you would google it. There are tens of thousands of articles and videos of people from the SS clamouring passionately for it. Kings, elders statesmen, it's all there for you to see. Although I know you guys love mentioning him now that he made a u turn, so I understand the touche effect that you guys are doing and it would be okay if not for the fact that the man is a mass murderer who's being made relevant by this forum. Again, the SS is a new political Union and we are all working together for the progress of the region politicatically and for the good of the south, for the good of nigeria. But the SS or ND is not a tribe. When issues get tribal the tone is different, if igbo people in the SE are screaming about an issue which is tribal it's best to believe that the igbo, igboid, and their cousin tribes in the SS are also echoing thesame sentiments perhaps not as loud. It would be mistaken to believe or think that igbo people in the SS are clapping for the people who are insulting or trying the shred the SE, when we know you people can't really tell us apart. Don't point to what a politician said or a communal clash as prove of disagreement because they also have this between communities in SE. The fact remains that if the SE was actually going to leave Nigeria, then the Igbo/igboid and closely related tribes in the SS are leaving with them because whatever remains of Nigeria becomes impractically impossible for our people to live or survive with when our next of kins and those we are closely related with are out the window. This is not a hate speech, it's common sense, common reasoning. It's important some of us in the ND speak up so we don't wake up one day and we are being told that we are now this or that by people from the west because of our silence, with quotes of peoples comments on nairaland as the word of God. This thread is about the Middle Belt having an awakening, I will not reply any further so that I dont derail the thread. Cheers! 3 Likes 1 Share |

oyatz: I know you're trying your best to sound intelligent but your political impartiality is so brazenly open. So many comments on this thread from people from the same place have commented saying they're proudly igbo people, and you're still saying the people should decide what to call their selves, you've skipped the video of the queen of Anioma proudly advocating for igbos to be one, you've skipped the twit of the current Gov who is from Ika, saying he was proud to be at the Ohaneze meeting and is proud of the igbo unity, What else do you want the Anioma people to do for you? do they have to show up to your house with placards and demonstrate? would that be enough to pacify you? You want us to accept the opinion your imaginary friend ebuka oliseh. You refuse that the olukumi could have in centuries past settled in Anioma, you rather want people to say that they are originally from Anioma, but you're very quick to argue that the Ijaw people in Ondo state are mere settlers because there's no land borders between bayelsa and ondo state, so how close via water is ondo from bayelsa? For the record, you peoples argument that igbo people started out in the west and morphed into igala and morphed into igbo people is quack science and defies biology, physics and human migration. Here's a better layman explanation that could better debunk your myth. If you put a chunk of purple paint on one end of a rectangular basin and white paint on the other end, you'll get pink in the middle. another one, you have white people in the north black people in the south and arabs in the middle. The metamorphosis starts in the middle. The Igala, ebira etc exist because of the cohabitation between the igbos on the east and the yorubas on the west. The igbo tribe is as original as the yoruba. Watching the anioma queen speak so elagantly and proudly is quite emotional, I wonder how bad the Anioma people would feel reading these comments of other people trying to say that they are not igbo. How would you feel if a Hausa guy was trying hard to argue how non yoruba you and your village is? Stop it oh! 2 Likes |

PrecisionFx: at the bolded I keep forgetting to write that every time on these tribal threads No one seems to be saying that clear enough on these threads. I'm sure most igbos further north of Abia State do not fully know or understand how powerful the relationship is. The people of Abia south and Akwa Ibom are practically thesame people. they have always been bilingual, speaking both igbo and qua ibo languages for centuries. This strong brotherhood for centuries is responsible for the creation of the Andoni(Obolo) people, who bear Akwa ibom names, practice Ngwa festivals, and speak a language that sounds akwa ibomish but if you understand central igbo you'd get atleast 30 percent of every conversation. It's important to ad that the Andoni also have a little mix of a now extinct ijaw tribe called defakha. The strongest hold of the Aro's was in today's Akwaibom while the Feared deity Ibini Ukpabi (An akwa ibom word) is in Abia state. The people of south Abia and Akwa Ibom have fought side by side on every war recorded in history. Any scholar of nigerian history would find this relationship worthy of deep study. I still am myself Just putting this info out there for those who keep drawing dream maps and lines in the niger-delta. Know thy history! 2 Likes 1 Share |

ElsonMorali: Can you people please stop using this man's name as someone who speaks for the Niger Delta or SS, please this is a huge insult to the region. We have great minds, and intellects who have and continue to express their opinions on regional issues and yet every time I hear some SS or Niger Delta, mischievous people continue to quote Asari. Asari is not a regional leader nor spokesman, he is a criminal and a mass murderer. Is this the type of person you would want people to quote as the spokesman of your region? how can you people continue to insult the Niger Delta like this? Asari and boys killed hundreds of people in his village,ph during his fight for supremacy with Ateke tom in the early 2000s. His boys thereafter robbed, raped and killed people at creek road market waterside for months. That man Asari is from the most troublesome Clan in Rivers State, the okrika people are known for starting wars by land grabbing. Anyone over 35 who grew up around Borokiri would have heard of the Okrika wars they fought the kalabaris, nembe, ogoni etc. As a child growing up in King Jaja street, I know that the Okrikas during the clash with ogonis killed and literally ate the ogoni people in the early 90s. They're still starting land clashes with neigbouring clans till today. Many people outside rivers state think the ikwerre's are the biggest trouble makers but ikwerres do not go outside ikwerreland to look for trouble and will not bother you if you dont rub your nose in their matter. You can see how jonathan's wife (from Okrika) could not resist trying to control amaechi when he was gov. of rivers, which was how the niger delta lost Amaechi to APC and why we have these blood baths during election, Amaechi is now being disrespected in ikwerreland, but he did what he had to do to keep his dignity. Even here on nairaland, theres only one guy tonye who always hides behind the name ijaw (although he's from okrika) and creates threads or comment to claim lands in Akwaibom, SE, edo etc, thereby causing online tension here amongst people in the SS and nigerdelta. Only Okrika would that, the okrika people are not even honestly Izon people and only started calling themselves ijaw during GEJs regime for politics. Core ijaw people have no energy to drag land because ijaw people have lands that are blessed by Baba God himself, and the thing ijaws want is control of the resources on the land they know is theirs. Other SS/SE people who kept praising Asari because he was shouting resource control have now seen that he can never be trusted! Sad that I have to air dirty laundry of the ND here, but people mentioning Asari have to understand the evil behind his name. I'm know I'm off topic and sorry for the Rant, but I and other people whose friends and family were killed, raped or had their houses burnt by Asari and his boys are still waiting for his judgement, to come here and see you people quoting him as a spokeperson for the SS is insult to injury, it really hurts! 5 Likes 1 Share |

I really do hope that Nigeria works, and I trust that you're praying for that too. You sound pissed off and I'm sorry if I offended you, but I'm only trying to tell you what the reality would be in the event of a breakup. I don't know who the oliseh ogochukwu you're talking about is and everyone has the right to say their opinion of what they think they are or be political with it. But the question should you should be asking yourself - the question that you need to honestly answer by yourself - The essence of my entire write up is: if shit hits the fan and this country was being broken up, do you believe that the oliseh Ogochukwu's that you know would leave a break away igbo region and rather choose to be with bini or yoruba country?...I didnt so either...I don't even think that Oliseh would be excited seeing you bashing the SE, knowing that most people from your area can't tell him apart from those in the SE. So let's all temper words with care, let's stop poking our eastern neighbours, you binis need this nigeria to work more than the igbos or even yorubas do. If you really truly want to form a country that is void of igbo people why add igboid speaking communities into that stupid map. So in you peoples mind, you believe their would be country where the rest of the other igbo speaking communities are in and we igboic communities in the ND would leave that country and come and join you people in your mini nigerian country with over 50 languages? so that you can continue to torture us with your "igboman this igboman that"? How can you believe that any igboic speaking community would accept to join you and become a minority in your dreamland country when they can simply join the rest of the igbo/igboic speaking country and be thesame as everyone else. If you really dont want to be in a break out nigerian country that has igbo/igboic speaking people, then please keep praying for Nigeria to work, because if this country is going to split, then know that It's not everyone from the niger delta that do not know where they come from, because if that time comes we will be joining our peers! continue dreaming but please remove my community from that your dream country. safarigirl: Wrong! while the igbo/igboid speaking speaking people of Nigeria have a language that is intelligible, they do not practice tradition as a monolith, meaning there are different different traditions among the different igbo/igboic speaking people. For example the Becheve people in the hills of crossriver state is an igbo community with an igbo king in cross river state, they are into Bride buying and selling till this very moment. And I'm very certain that while that tradition is alien to most other igbo tribe, it does not take away the fact the community is an igbo community. So technically saying that igbo people perform a certain tradition is right and wrong, because when it comes to tradition the word igbo becomes a complex term, it's usually better to state the clan. This is the basis of contention about whether a clan is igbo or not in many communities outside the SE, people argue with this context forgetting that what makes your clan igbo should be whether or not igbo/igboic language is spoken natively in your community and whether or not that language can be understood on a basic level by other igbo clans without translation, because in general speaking, when it come it comes to tradition, the igbo people are very diverse, it's almost like saying nigerian people practice a tradition. At the OP go to the police and then lawyer up, although I understand that money might be an issue, put up your acc number here, next to the story and give updates, I'm sure nairalanders would be willing to help 2 Likes |

laudate: I wonder who you're calling "you people"... But I guess when an okrika man calls himself Ijoid - you're basically okay with that right? Anyways, my input on the thread is based on face value, No one was originally claiming or disclaiming anyone, the thread is just starting to digress. The point that most of the commenters were trying to make is that Burna is basically pointing fingers at himself. Not unless you're one of those who enjoy hating igbos you wouldnt find the need to argue or defend or critize. Here is my re-explanation maybe you'll get my input. In nigeria when we say people from the east, we mean people from the ss/se and to be specific about what east you're talking about most people would say SE. So Burna Boy says people from the east only listen to their kind and someone comments saying but you're from ahoada which an igboic speaking clan in rivers state by the border with imo state...and igboid yourself, so what are you pointing fingers at... That is a factual and correct troll back sentence. If you don't have any problem with everything igboic, then you'd have nothing negative to say. Those who deteriorated the thread are those went on to start claiming that he prefers to be yoruba or whatever. You get my point now? Peace |

In order to be fair and NOT obviously castigating this tribe, why not send them to atleast places with dignity while flooding SE/SS states with Hausas...Why not swap CPs of ethnic Groups in the SE/SS between themselves for equity for example give an Igbo Guy CP of Bayelsa and an Ijaw Guy CP of Anambra, etc and use christian hausas to fill in positions in the far muslim hausa north and vice versa to counter the ying yang situation they are trying to create. I'll help - Alcohol/Beer/whisky etc, Marijuana, even tobacco. People caught dealing on Alcohol in the 1900s used to punished by death in the US. Marijuana which used to carry the Death Penalty in many countries across the world is now being legalized world over, so at some point in the future you should expecting the legalization of cocaine. While many people might paint cocaine as a substance from hell which no one should touch, the truth is if you hang around a lot of rich expatriates world over you'd see that atleast 30% of them are hooked on some sort of moderated use of the one those class 1 drugs like cocaine. In the eyes of religion, a drug dealer is technically not doing anything wrong, as he is not compelling people to buy from him, he simply has product that people who need it look for him to buy it from him without him having to convince them about nothing, the only people he is wronging are governments who for the record are the biggest drug dealers in the world. So people actually argue that cocaine has immensely helped them either through a medical or psychological trauma - google it! YAHOO/ INTERNET FRAUD As an internet fraudster you track people on the web, and then mislead people to believe that you're something that you're not and STEAL their hard earned money. A lot of people who are conned end up committing suicides. People lose their life savings to internet scammers, their children's future, their blood and sweat. Internet scammers are not ONLY doing what is abominable to their fellow humans, but it's also Abominable in the eyes of God. An internet scammer is equivalent to armed robber, just that he's masking behind the computer as opposed to a Gun. It's a no brainer that internet scams is a Bigger EVIL in the eyes of anything judging. So keep consoling yourself! |

daroz: Hmm congratulations to South Southerners? ...This is a country of tribes my friend, those "new political terms" don't matter when tribal injuries start to cut too deep. No matter how many times that word south south is thrown around it wouldnt mislead the common man in Ogoja, crossriver state into believing that he has any ancestral or cultural links with an Uhrobo man, it's just a political term. However congratulations to the Uhrobo people, even though we know these political positions never mean anything to the common man of whose tribe a leader is from - But atleast it's a been a good way by the ruling class to keep making everyone believe that the unity of the country mattered to them, which is obviously not happening now. The way I see this now is that the 6 top government positions in the country based on names is split between two tribes, the Hausas and the Yoruba's. The yorubas have the VP slot, then took their own for Senate President and then another Yoruboid tribe in the SS as deputy SP. If you are looking the names on paper just 2 tribes are visible. I think it is a clear coded message by the Yoruba ruling class to anyone who's paying attention that the Yoruba's run the south. A great achievement for whichever Yoruba guy was trying to prove a point, however a nail in the coffin for nigeria. 1 Like 1 Share |
