I have recently been admitted to the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala to pursue a Master's degree in Rural Development and Natural Resource Management. Unfortunately, I was not awarded a scholarship and have been sent an invoice with a payment deadline of 10th May 2024.

The total tuition fee is 250,000 SEK, divided into four installments of 62,500 SEK each, equivalent to $6,000. The payment schedule is as follows:
- 1st installment: $6,000 due on 10th May 2024
- 2nd installment: $6,000 due on 15th December 2024
- 3rd installment: $6,000 due on 1st August 2025
- 4th installment: $6,000 due on 15th December 2025

Given the current exchange rate, this amount is quite substantial. My parents can support the first installment and other initial expenses such as accommodation, feeding, flight, and the Proof of Funds (POF) package. However, the subsequent payments present a challenge.
As someone with experience living in Sweden, I would greatly appreciate your perspective on whether I should proceed with this opportunity. Furthermore, I am considering the possibility of working part-time in Sweden to cover the second installment and other living expenses, do you think it is feasible for me to sustain myself financially and also be able to pay my remaining tuition fees?
Your insights would be invaluable to me during this decision-making process, as I am currently experiencing a great deal of uncertainty. Any advice or information you could provide would be deeply appreciated.

Swedish companies are legally obliged to hire other europeans before hiring people from outside of the EU, and I believe that the law still states that a job vacancy must have been publically filed and remained unfilled for 2 months before outside applicants can be hired. However, once you are physically in Sweden you have the same right to a job as anyone else. Because of this, be very careful of people promising to get you a legit job in Sweden.

The jobs that are available here mostly require a university degree. We need plenty of healthcare workers, engineers and developers. As for simple jobs there is fierce competition for those jobs both from native Swedes and european immigrants already. Illegal work won't pay well and you will often be treated as disposable without concern for your work security, most available jobs like this involve construction work, cleaning or working in a kitchen.

Speaking of networking, Sweden still has a generous policy of granting some monetary support to cultural organisations, meaning that as long as you are in a decent-sized city you should be able to find an cultural organisation for Nigerian expats. As these organisations are non-profit they can be of varying quality depending on who is organising it.

Another mean of hustling is buying and selling used goods, especially electronics or cars. Some even turn it into large scale container-exports back to their homeland, which of course has the potential of greater profit but also carries a greater risk of losing it all.

Do you mean you got your Permanent Residence Permit from Nigeria or your Study Visa only?

Also, I've started my MSc. (Thesis) applications to Uni of Alberta and Saskatchewan. No dependants or something. Only me and my parents will sponsor me.

While all courses I chose is 2 years, can I also start my permanent residency process from Nigeria now or I need to get there first and start after completing the degree?
Do I also need to apply this way for permanent residency or I shouldn't bother about that for now?

Good evening all, so I am here to finally share my application story.

First time applicant that did all (SP, SOWP, VV) by himself with the help of materials/resources gotten from here.

Upfront medicals => 04th Oct, 2023
I used IOM for my upfront medicals. I tried booking an appointment on the site (with available date of 15th Oct, 2023) cos from 15th upward, those are the only dates available. I thank God it did not go through because i had to reach out to them via email and they booked me for 4th of October.

Until I did my upfront medicals, I never took this whole thing serious cos I got admission last year but differed (due to personal reasons).
I created my IRCC account on 10th Oct, 2023.

NOTE: It was after I finished my upfront medicals I got convinced about this new adventure. That was when I started writing my SOP and gathering all the documents. Although, I already got all materials/resources in my notebook (for reference).

I used the old portal (GcKey) cos I know I have a lot of stories to tell and I was sure the new portal won't allow me cos of the file limit.

I finally submitted my application on the 13th of October 2023 (after 3 days sleepless night, just to ensure my SOP is detailed enough).

Before I submitted, I had to make sure I went through all those IMM files like 2 - 3 times and I really thank God i did that, cos I noticed on some of the forms, I did not give full details and co. I had to be double sure I filled all documents before doing the final submission. Thank goodness i went through all the documents again (after uploading, I had to re-upload again) just to be sure I filled everything without leaving anything behind.

After submitting my application, I got a Biometrics request letter. The date available was 30th of October (omo, me that resumption date is 8th January, I wished the date available was earlier).
I finished my Biometrics on the 30th and got PPR on the 31st.

I was really shocked when I woke up to seeing 4 do not reply mails only to see that a decision has been made on the application.

in my mind, i was like [damn it, probably i missed somethings from my application] only to call my wife's attention to it to come double check [abi na my eyes dey see double].

Now, to the documents submitted.

I ensured the document is detailed enough [most especially the field to submitting POF]

I made sure the story was really interesting to the reader [making it look more like i am speaking with the person that is going to review my application.

I am the one that did all the payment [application fee, medicals and co].
My Wife's only has 3million in her account but we provided 6 months MBS for her while me as the sponsor have enough that can take us for 2 years even without talking.

Talking about school fees and cost of living for the 3 of us.

Every of the file i uploaded is well detailed, like some of them are going to like 150 pages [na pictures full am with stories].

I used adobe premium application to compress the file to like 3.9MB and it is not blurry at all. The only ones that almost got blurred where the pictures so, i had to reduce the quality of the pictures again before adding to the document to avoid quality loss.

I submitted my passport on 3rd Nov and I got a do not reply mail for decision envelope on 10th Nov.

I sha collected my passport on 13th Nov.

Lol.. you people have come again, this time na teachers una dey solicit for. Good though.

I am a teacher and I'm proud to be one but not a full time teacher. So I'm not bound by the schools rules to come for summer lessons. I only do so on my own terms which is either organizing seminars or training for the teachers at a fee. Which usually runs for a few days to weeks, all on my terms.

This particular holiday, I didn't take any offers from any of my schools because the ones that indicated interest were underpricing me plus me I wanted to rest well this period because last term was so stressful and there were hardly enough breaks inbetween. So I decided to rest. Though i got bored three weeks into the holiday. Now I'm depressed from boredom because it was just sleep, surf the net, eat and sleep, church and back home. Tiring!!!! Thank God school is about to resume.

Yes, You will enjoy but little impact. While I understand that bills must be paid, Teaching isn't just to come and do. The students should be a priority and how will they reach out to you when they need you when you only come at your convenience and hurriedly leave once your time is up.
We all are slaves to this government. If governance is good, there wouldn't be kwe kwe private schools who request for 5k for school fees which spoils the business for other school owners who are striving to stay afloat after spending millions for accreditations and subsequent approvals.
It's a very deep and sad situation if you look into it well.

You will have to Choose Either Data Science or Software Developer.

I don't advice you to start learn both at the same time, because thier scopes are different.

If you want to go for DATA Science(DS), I will advice you to first learn , Data Analysis(DA). If somewhat a foundation to DS. Although alot of guys have done DS Straight. You are new to IT so I suggest you start with the foundation.

In DA you will need to learn Basics of Python Programming, not for coding purpose, but need in the analysis of your data.

Another Basic skill you will need for DA is SQL.
