I was invited for an interview at the school but did not attend.i live at iyana Ipaja and felt that they will not provide any accommodation for me.

You should have gone for the interview, at least you would have gained an interview experience if not appointed. Some schools might give you accommodation if you are the best candidate provided they have.

Wish you best of luck in your future applications.

Sweettwenty8:
Finaly i decided to create an account

What's up Nairaland, Please Pardon my English.

So me and my man been married for a year now but here's the thing he does that pisses me OFF!!! TOTALLY!!!! ehn, every time I cook rice and stew (fried stew/fish/meat) he'd ask me to go outside the estate to go and buy Ewa(beans) (I'm using Ewa because that's how he pronounces it. So I noticed this earlier and I started Cooking beans anytime I cook rice. He'll still request for 'Ewa' the Mama put beans made and sold by the roadside

While we dated he'd even ask me to cook for himself and his friends and if my cooking was bad, I'd have gotten feedback somehow.. how can I serve food and he'll ask me to go get 'Ewa' at Shangisha Outside Magodo Gra to mix his rice even when we have visitors he will send me a whatsapp message to still go get Ewa most times he'll even book uber if i tell him I'm too tired to drive I'm tired of going to buy Ewa!!

How do i get to know what the problem is, because it's definitely not my cooking, 2 of my office buddies they don't buy lunch because i bring enough food for 3 of us everyday and they'd have stopped eating it if it was bad

Woman humble yourself by going to that 'Iya Elewa' tell her to teach you how to cook 'Ewa' using her method, then start using it to cook 'Ewa' for your husband. Problem solve.

@OP I appreciate your fearless and bravery act. You have started an act of stopping the humiliation that Nigerian Passport holders go through on daily basis in the hands of immigration officers across the globe. So many to come in the coming days. My boss also narrated his own ordeal at Heathrow Airport where a young female immigration officer tried to subject him to secondary check after his passport had been stamped in. Senior officer was called in and he stood his ground and refuse the secondary check, he brought out his ID as a lecturer, show evidences that he has been passing through Heathrow Airport for over 20 years, and demanded that the young female immigration officer apologize to him. They had no other option than to apologize.

Please write another petition against that lazy Ambassador who could not perform his duty. Send it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja and copy the The President and The National Assembly. You have started the correction of unnecessary embarrassments Nigerians go through in the hands of immigration officers across the globe.

You are truly a man.

Travel / Re: Swedish Study Permit Refusal Please Advice by Ope4Christ: 7:10am On Aug 09, 2019
This is an avoidable situation. He should have done research on the course he wants to study, the city where the university is located, starting and ending time of his program, facts about Sweden, etc. Swedish student visa is relatively easier to obtain.

Solution.
Yes, you can appeal with a slim chance of changing the Embassy's decision.

But however, I will advise you to tell him to inform his school to defer the admission till either Summer(March -April) or Winter(September - October), 2020. So that he will do enough research for his Visa Interview questions next year.

The questions he was asked are very simple and straight forward yet he fumbled. Let him learn his lesson.

Good luck to him.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Is 90k Per Month Ok For A Job At Lagos Island. by Ope4Christ: 6:51pm On Jul 29, 2019
If your brother does not have any better option tell him to take the job with immediate effect. A job of 90k monthly is good for him. All he has to do is to plan his movements every morning (i.e leaves Abule Egba between 4:30 to 5am) and then come back home late (i.e between 8:30 to 9:30pm).

If I were him I will pick the job and gather experience then I can move to better job later. I live in Abule Egba, so. I am talking from experience.

Travel / Re: Build America Visa Replaces Green Card In Trump's New US Entry Plan by Ope4Christ: 7:45pm On May 17, 2019
This policy will only replicate what is in practice in Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc. It is the best immigration policy going by how Canada, Australia and New Zealand have grown their economies with it. Their economies are expanding day-by-day. Canada projected 1million immigrants from 2019 - 2021. This is massive and Nigerians have benefited from it.

The new policy will not remove any country which has exceeded the 50,000 maximum annual threshold for immigrants. For example since Nigerian immigrants to USA have exceeded the 50,000 annual threshold since 2012, hence, delisted from participating in Visa Lottery. But with the new policy, highly Skilled Nigerians will be able to participate without discrimination.

Congress might pass it into law going by the trend in the world. Germany, Japan and Hungary also have population shortages, hence trying to consider immigration policy of such nature.

Check Canadian point scale immigration system for more details.

Education / Re: Government and Deceit by Ope4Christ: 8:25pm On May 06, 2019
It is rather unfortunate but you need to understand that scholarship offer is a PRIVILEGE and not a RIGHT therefore, you can't sue Lagos State Government.

But you can write a letter of plea(attach your scholarship letter) to the following Government Officials maybe you can get your fund.

1. The Commissioner of Education Lagos State.
2. The Chairman, Lagos State Scholarship Board.
3. Chairman of Committee on Education, Lagos State House of Assembly.
4. The Deputy Governor of Lagos State.
5. The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education.

Make sure you PLEAD with them in your letter. I am sure your case will be attended to.

Best wishes.
Education / Re: Present Day Education In Nigeria: Parents Vs Teacher Effect by Ope4Christ: 8:02pm On May 05, 2019
I am totally disappointed by the actions and inactions of parents of our generation, who are totally dedicated to their jobs while neglecting their primary responsibilities(training their children educationally, spiritually and morally). May I remind you that the first level of education starts from home - informally, at least from zero year to adulthood. Parents are PURELY responsible for the training of their children in the three major areas stated above which will prepare their children for formal education. From experience, parents are guilty in the following areas:

1. Indulging their children's bad behaviours. A failure of morality from you.

2. Teaching their children to report their teachers to them when their children are being disciplined for wrongdoings, so that they can come to school next day to fight teachers. Well done 'Mike Tyson' parents.

3. Negligence of their primary duties and passing them to the school. For example, a female parent came to our PTA meeting reporting that her child would not greet her in the morning that the school should do something about it. She was embarrassed when another parent told her that she should train her child how to greet from home and not from school.

4. Inability to mentor, mold and tutor their children into the appropriate careers for their future. All they say is my child must be a Medical Doctor and the school must put him/her in Science class when Career Test reveals that the child will be good in Art class. Mr and Mrs 'COUNSELOR' who are more knowledgeable than the school on career matters. Kudos to you.

5. No time for their children because they have to leave home by 5am only to come back by 10pm. Good parents! Keep it up, at least you have an housemaid to take up your duties.

Teachers of today are forced by parents to concentrate on academic performances of their children leaving out morals because any act of discipline by the school will be frowned at by the parents. How will a child attain success in academics without good morals? Parents answer this question.

Teachers will only play their roles based on the CHALLENGES thrown at them by parents(fear of the parents) and school management(three or four months without salary) coupled with their personal issues. Never forget that they are also human like you.

Parents please answer the following questions heartily.

1. If your parents had neglected you would you have become who you are today?

2. Are you training your children with moral trainings you received from your parents?

3. Who will enjoy your children in the future when they eventually become great, teachers or you?

If you can answer the above questions sincerely you will know the importance of training your children from home before teachers will COMPLEMENT what you have done at home in school.

In a nutshell, play your role and let the teachers complement your efforts, then your children will become great in life.

Travel / Re: Pls What Steps Should I Take To Secure A Fully Funded Scholarship Abroad?? by Ope4Christ: 6:06pm On Apr 23, 2019
Response.

1. That will be brilliant.

2. You can't study in foreign countries without GRE or IELTS. Some may waive GRE or IELTS but you can't do without either of the two. For the purpose of scholarship, you must do the two exams.

GRE is a requirement for postgraduate studies just like UTME in Nigeria is a prerequisite for undergraduate studies. It will test your knowledge about Quantitative, Verbal and Analytical Writing.

IELTS is to test your level of English language via Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.

The two exams are compulsory for scholarship consideration. Your First Degree is one of many requirements.

There are still other requirements.

Travel / Re: Pls What Steps Should I Take To Secure A Fully Funded Scholarship Abroad?? by Ope4Christ: 5:44am On Apr 23, 2019
Take the following steps:

1. Concentrate on your current study and graduate with good grades.

2. When you are doing your NYSC program obtain the following GRE(Q165, V165 and AW 4.0) and IELTS or TOEFL. To have good grade you have to read, read and read which will increase your chances for scholarship.

3. Do not limit your scholarship search to one country but widen your scope of getting scholarship and VISA.
Some people can get scholarship and yet be denied VISA especially by USA, Canada, Australia and UK because of their VISA application process. You can try Germany and Sweden (Schools with English programs) whose VISA processes are not as tough as USA, Canada, Australia and UK.

4. Wish you good luck

Travel / Re: Why Would Any Foreigner Want A Nigerian Citizenship by Ope4Christ: 5:26am On Apr 23, 2019
The reasons are not far fetched as listed below:

1. Foreigners like Indians, Lebanese, Chinese, Koreans, Germans, etc like to acquire Nigerian Passport because of their huge investments in Nigeria. It is easy to cut corners by not paying/ or paying a significantly reduced tax rate in Nigeria which they cannot try in their countries. Cheap labor is everywhere in Nigeria and illegality of not paying staff salaries regularly, or paying peanuts to increase the profit they take back to their countries. Ask Nigerians who have worked with them before.

2. Whenever a foreigner is working in Nigeria, he naturally assumes a managerial or supervisory role which gives him fat salary he might not be able to obtain in his country; even when he is an ordinary School Cert holder. Hence there is need to acquire Nigerian citizenship.

3. Some of them are married to Nigerians who are rich so there is need to be a Nigerian.

4. Among others.
