No one can respond to that question accurately except the Creator..
Life is a mystery and the things we don't know are bigger than whatever we know.

But in my opinion I'd say destiny is real and I believe it can be twisted/manipulated/altered by our actions and inactions. I also believe that one can take destiny into her hands. One can achieve anything life can offer.

However, there are certain things that are beyond one's control and that's where "what will be will be" comes to play. Take for instance, if someone is not destined to love you there is nothing anyone can do about it.
I hope my opinion helps.. Hmm
Great response!
It's balanced and i think that's where i'd stay.

Thanks for the response.

When we work with God and key into his divine plan for us, he makes all things work together for good for those who love him and are called according to his purpose. Psalm 1 says a righteous man is like a tree planted by the river side bringing out his fruit in due season, an unrighteous man is however like a shaft driven around by wind. With God there exists destiny, outside of him, NO!
There exist in God's heart a plan for everyone at birth. This is what we called destiny. Whether we will fulfil those plan is another thing entirely. It depends on how much of God we follow. Devil is always around to ensure the plan is derailed. He uses tricks and people to ensure we never reach God's set destination for us.

The future is certain. What will be will be.

The future of the universe can only be altered from the outside for the same reason a stone cannot turn itself.

Control is an illusion.

Every event in the universe is caused by something. That something is caused by another thing. On and on.

You might argue that the choice you make is the cause of your destiny but the choice you made is also caused by something else... YOU.
YOU are not responsible for who YOU are. In other words, YOU is caused by something else.

Again, control is just an illusion. Humans need to feel they are in control to avoid existential crisis.

It is very hard to accept your future is not in your hands

You need to think deep to grab the concept of causality.

Thanks for your response. It seems i lean more to your school of thought. I mean its only logical to agree we don't have control over the course of life.
...
But then the future be influenced by things we do or don't do?

Good morning everyone,

Okay so i was discussing with a friend some time back and i told him i was going to do my research on this.
Do you believe what will be will be?
Do you believe in destiny?
Or do you believe the course of the life of man can be altered?

I'll need factual replies for or against not just some personal religious biases.

Christians have been saying the end is near for many years even before I was born but I Still haven't seen any end

Probably if you read more you wouldn't make such statements. Google "end of the world by stephen hawkings" a renowed scientist. So it isn't really a question of whether Christians said it would end or not.
Whether you and i like it or not the planet called earth will implode. Its only a question of time.
Try do some research.

Visit him and talk with him like dad to son so he'll understand how things are with you.
Besides most times money isn't everything, your presence might just be all he needs. Make out time every month maybe to hangout with him.

All the best.

There are dozens of jobs he can choose from. He doesn't have to be infantry unless his line scores are so low that it is the only MOS he will qualify for. He can be a pilot, computer scientist, mechanic, construction engineer, etc. All he has to do is pass with a good score on his asvab test.

Okay. I get it.

Thanks much!

Joining the military in the US is not complicated at all as long as you have the legal ground to join and you are of sound health. You can enlist in the military if you are:

1. A US citizen
2. A Green Card holder
3. As a foreign student with abilities to speak one of languages required under the MAVNI program (This MAVNI program was basically for the Army and it's currently suspended).

As it stands currently, you can join any arm of the US military, IF AND ONLY IF, one of the first two requirements listed above is satisfied. After that, you can start considering age limit and other stuffs for qualification.

Okay. Thanks!

If i may ask, if he joins the military; is he gonna become a combatant?
Can you elaborate please on the process if you don't mind?
It'll be highly appreciated. Thanks

Hopefully he is going there with legal status and if he is, his best bet is to join the military. It is the fastest way to land on your feet in America if you are an immigrant. He doesn't need to do it for long. He can start with a three year contract and in that three years, he would build his credit, have enough money for college or complete college and also buy a house.
Do you have certified information on this?
Is it so easy for any immigrant to just join the military?
There are requitements i believe, is his age not a factor?

Yeah we all do these things but no one ever admits he/she does them.
So what are those things we all do but no one has ever admitted doing them. These are some i could think of:

1) Farting in a crowded place and pretending someone else did it.

2) Seeing a random person and imagining spending the rest of your life with them.

3) Judging people on the basis of what they wear and look like. (Most people deny this but they do it subconsciously)

4) Overthinking conversations after saying goodbye.

5) You keep asking questions for the sake of continuing the conversation.

6) Peeing in the shower.

7) Farting loudly when no one is around.

cool Taking a look at a guy/lady you find attractive.

9) Watching PORN grin

10) We all speak against tribalism on Nairaland, yet we still like comments that support our tribe and insults another tongue

Your first sentence contradicts the rest. You should have simply answered his question in the affirmative and not trying to be dodgy.

What i inferred from this your response is; you can't do what she did and yes you want someone with a range rover.
Why were you now dodging? Is it wrong to want range rover? undecided

She stayed!

I don't like things like this, makes it look like it shouldn't be the norm. We have lots of materialistic women around, but it's common sense and proof of loyalty to stand by your loved one. That's how it should be!!

She was also broke, and the guy stayed with her too.

Is she the only one that could have left? The guy can also hook a rich woman, do women think they're the only one with richer options?

She try, but na the guy try pass... undecided

Family / Rise In Divorce: Is Love Becoming Extinct? by OrdercityWeb: 6:20pm On Aug 25, 2017
I am quite sure it's not news anymore of the divorce epidemic that is ravaging marriages in this century. The movies and ads we see on TV show us a perfect situation with all the mushy-mushy an :od perfect ending scenario, but reality of marriages today slaps us back to our senses.
..
Even lawyers who are directly involved in the divorce process are crying out at the unprecedented upsurge in divorce rate. See what vanguard posted some months back; (https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/04/lawyers-decry-high-rate-divorce/ )

What could be responsible for this?

Well i think we should look at the basis of any relationship which is Love It's only logical to admit that if the foundation of a structure is faulty then it's doomed to collapse as it's only a matter of time.

The word "love appears vague, what exactly is love in the context of marriage? We need to set that precedence first. I believe love is subjective and if we are all asked to define it we will all have different definitions.
But to make it easier I'll define love in my own view in three words; "committment, sacrifice, Trust
You could also define love with three words of your own. Done that?
Now let's now juxtapose this 'our three words' with what is happening in the society today and ask yourself sincerely of how often you see the display of those 3 words. The divorce rates speak for themselves right?
Now, I'm not against divorce for the right reasons but how can people divorce these days because of toothpaste? That's funny.
..
Even most relationships don't last more than 6 months nowadays, we are seeing an unprecedented display of distrust, lack of commitment and absence of sacrifice in relationships today. Partners cheat without remorse, what am i saying even married couples now cheat without remorse.

Thanks for reading to this point, I'm not making a general conclusion. This is my perspective, what do you think? Have you experienced love or have you shown it?
Look at most relationships/marriages around you and answer the pernitent question: is love becoming extinct?
..

Ps: Remember love in the context of relationship/marriage

The problem problem stems from the way you framed the topic of the thread-as if you were asking for other people's opinion though it turned out you only wanted to put yours across. I understand what you are saying but not because your arguments were unassailable. What you saying is that socio-cultural values, distinctiveness, richness and variety will be lost if we culturally merge through inter tribal marriage. However I feel Cultural diffusion and assimilation might prove a blessing for us since we are all a race and the truth is that's the trend as we speak. I do not support inter racial marriages though.
Thank you!

That's wishful thinking sir. In reality you and i know it can't effect any serious change. Examples abound.

What we need is a change of mindset not 'intermarriage'.

even today one of the major reasons there are different tribes in SW is because of the civil war which caused migration out of the eastern region..

How I know they never inter-married is it was forbidden to inter-marry until the wh:ytes came and turned ethnic groups against each other...
