spyder880:It is heart breaking to see AVOP in that state. All the companies jointly owned by the old Anambra state have been allowed to rot. From NigerCem, Niger steel , AVOP or ANAMMCO. I think these factories should be completely sold to private investors so that they can be useful to the unemployed youths and continue to add to the economy of the state and the country. |
cjrane:Building modern hospital structures is one thing i pray takes root in Nigeria. Dr.Nnamdi Azikiwe, Dr.Michael Opara all built bungalow hospitals in those days because there was scarcely any money and many many projects had to be built in the newly independent country. Currently, my heart bleeds each time i see politicians in this present day, building mushroom structures as hospitals or universities simply because in 1960, the first buildings were bungalow structures. Even "poor" African countries such as Namibia with tiny national budget comparable to an average Nigerian state budget, now build modern hospitals or university buildings such as the example in the picture.

Charlesdonald:Bro, we understand and appreciate your desire to help enrich the forum. Unfortunately, your camera or the video you pulled these pics from? Please, these are enough. Thanks a lot for your effort ![]() |
spyder880:Don't really know why we should continue to honor the names of military junta officials that named major streets in Enugu after themselves....and did not even build anything in Enugu as military administrators. Worst of all, they are also coupists! Why should any road in Enugu be referred to as "Bisalla" road, while we don't even have Sullivan Chime Road or Boulevard or Chief Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo Boulevard? Inspite of all the hardwork Sullivan Chime put into developing Enugu into a Five star destination, in spite of his meager funds? |
spyder880:Oga Spyder, How many are these buildings in Brick estate? For security reasons, i hope the state government will reallocate these building to those that will complete them or bulldoze them and reallocate the land. These buildings are definitely being used by armed robbers and kidnappers from the looks of it. They have been abandoned for a long time and sit next to the homes of great Igbo people at Independence L/O. It's just the perfect place for criminals to use as hideout.
|
spyder880:Oga, Keep them coming! You are giving us a great weekend! I just discovered similar pictures are populating Enugu thread on skyscrapercity.com Chai, ndi anya ufu no go sleep tonite ![]() spyder880:Simply giving these houses solid Aluminium roofing/ glass windows and planting flowers/trees around them, will make them hot cakes! I see they are already doing that with many of them. Such buildings should not be left as uncompleted, if not dare devil armed robbers and kidnappers will use them as hideout to torment residents of Independence L/O. |
spyder880:Even Oil producing states don't look this way!!! Chai, ala Enugu bu so nma! Bar. Sullivan Chime!!! We are eternally grateful! |
spyder880:Wow! Wow! Wow!!! Please keep it coming! Oga Spyder, Are you sure you are not posting pictures of Paris here? Is this Enugu for real?? spyder880:I like the concept behind the statue. "Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" Enugu is truly Ala bekee ooo! |
APSHIT has conveniently forgotten that our trains stopped running SINCE 1983! All the animals now wanting to loot Nigeria again ruled and did nothing about this source of cheap mass transit. It took the coming of GEJ to completely overhaul and bring back our trains. APSHIT wants us to allow them comeback and drag Nigeria to stone age again through violence and killing innocent people! Someone that doesn't even know oil price is controlled by International market supply and demand forces ![]() NEVER Again!!!
|
Joel3:Crap! Tell your childish lies and "advise" to the birds. What are you really afraid of? Are you afraid of losing the oil money? If Igbos were benefiting from Nigeria, you animals would have disintegrated it a very long time ago. See the list below of states milking Nigeria's wealth through the federation account allocation, NONE is an Igbo state! This is precisely the reason why the animals still tolerate so called "One Nigeria". If you weren't cheating everyone, you'd broken this zoo a long time ago.The same indigenes of those states own 99% of oil wells allocated to "Nigerians" If Ijaws secede from Nigeria because of injustice against them, Nobody should use any part of Igboland to approach Ijawland or you would have provoked us by invading our territory. You know what that means.

spyder880:Can they cover those sections of the median with concrete, where heavy pedestrian traffic have prevented flowers from growing in the median? Places such as a few sections of Ogui road, Presidential road and Zik avenue towards Gariki and road in front of Ogbete and Old park? That will greatly improve Enugu to look like a truly world class city.
|
NAIJASOM:Could anyone confirm that the ANAMMCO has actually started rolling out the Shacman trucks from it's truck assembly line?

cjrane:@ the bolded, The waterparks idea at the back of a major hotel isn't bad at all. You must have seen lots in the USA during summer. Infact, today is MLK birthday and we might visit an indoor park if it's not too cold. Nigeria has such excellent tropical weather that water parks will be great tourist attractions to cool off the heat! It is shameful that ONLY ONE water park exist in Nigeria at Tinapa!!! I wish they will expand the pool area at Hotel Presidential to install a waterpark there. It will not only help to make the hotel to become a tourism hot-spot, it will instantly put Enugu on the tourism map of Nigeria. A mini inexpensive water park such as in the picture below, if built around the pool area of Hotel Presidential will do wonders for Enugu. Who says you need a beach to become a tourist haven?

spyder880:Gbam! |
spyder880:Building a two or three storey open air shopping complex is one solution. It has worked in places like Warri to decongest Effrun road. But where will they park the cars? Using the street as parking lots is one of the biggest problems we have, because people just build big public buildings and have no plans to provide parking space for the customers. |
My fear is that GEJ may not get the type of block votes he got in 2011 from the SE. Many Igbos are indeed disillusioned with GEJ agenda now. Although even many more Igbos hate APC for sidelining the Igbo race and saying publicly that Igbo does not matter in their calculations. If APC had not behaved so wickedly to push Igbos away from the party, Buhari can be sure of at least 40% of SE votes. But, will you out of frustration of GEJ vote for a party who has publicly declared you an enemy and sworn to enslave you in your own land? Ultimately, we shall see where this all goes. We must ensure a free and fair elections happen so that the peoples votes will matter. |
spyder880:Street markets are a problem. I wonder how that can be solved without making people jobless. |
spyder880:Oga Spyder, That would be very kind of you to get us some of the pics there. Truly, our people don't know how to market our treasures. African culture is something many scholars around the world actually want to learn. Unfortunately, there isn't any real cultural museums in Africa meticulously documenting our culture. A few centers exist in Kenya and Tanzania and they have continued to pull tourists to them. However, those countries have the development of their safaris as a priority. Since we do not have safaris or game reserves to pull tourists like the Kenyans and Tanzanians, Our cultural heritage should be developed and packaged in modern museums like our movies. In the past, Nigerian movies tried to copy American action movies and we failed woefully. Today, producers have learnt to tell our own authentic cultural stories set in villages and towns, and it has made Nollywood a sensation across the world. Prof. Chinua Achebe had always said that if he had based thing fall apart on some European culture, it would have been a woeful flop. But since he based it on his own Igbo culture which he was very familiar with, even schools in far away Korea and Japan caught on to the story because it was authentic and not a copycat novel imitating Europeans and their culture. I think CJ is right. They made provision for a museum around the conference zone. See the satellite imagery of the uncompleted complex. They should complete that complex and begin stocking the museum with artefacts of cultural significance and watch it blossom beyond everyone's imagination.

Every mission embarked by these choppers must be TOP SECRET! To make sure moles cannot give it's movements to Boko Haram to tip them off of it's impending attack. I hope it has very weapons system and target acquisition. God willing,it has good missile system too. Boko haram Ntoor!

laykorn:As if we don't know even Shekau can edit wikipedia.! Abokii show your WAEC result. Shikena! |
xwolverine:Kai, Those birds are sweet. We need an experienced tactician to command this helicopter force. Someone that knows how best to inflict maximum damage on Boko Haram equipment and firepower using these birds in close support with military intelligence. I hope they have night fighting capability with infra-red. So that they are used mainly at night to hit the Boko boys, their tanks and armored vehicles with surprise attacks. |
The guy knows book! Imagine A1! ![]() |
tabletman1: ![]() I have heard people say that if you sweep markets and keep them clean, it will drive away their customers! Since they would believe the goods will be more expensive if it is sold in a clean environment. lol... ![]() |
investnow2013:You are a wise man. Unfortunately ,a good number of our people there are more silly than sheeps. They keep seeing these and say 'it doesn't matter'. Soon, it will matter and i don't have any pity for silly characters. |
OdenigboAroli:Thanks Bro. I grew up in Onitsha, but i did live in Yaba, Lagos on St. Finbarrs college rd. for a while, and also read Chemical Engineering at ESUT before going to the US. So i have Onitsha accent and even my village guys call me Onitsha girl. lol ![]() Unfortunately, not much show for Engineers in the US. So like my hubby, i switched to MPH in Environmental science and PhD in Global health. That gives away my true identity a little because few schools offer that in the US. However, I intentionally go by Yoruba name to disguise me a little as a promise to my husband that nobody "will arrest him" for his wife's online comments. Even though,we do have Yoruba in-laws in his family. |
OdenigboAroli:Thanks Bro. I have always considered myself lucky to marry into Anambra. This does not diminish the greatness of my parents state, Abia. I hitherto had zero interest in geography even in my secondary school days. However, since i married into Anambra, i had taken a keen interest to know where every community was located, their neighbors and their key customary practices (Omenala). Living both Anambra and Abia traditions firsthand has really enriched my life. |
NRIPRIEST:Thanks Bro, I am not a "Chic" like that oo! At least i will reach fourty in a few years. ![]() I actually joined NL sometime last year or when i stumbled over the site during my PhD dissertation. I was doing online research on FGM and stumbled on this site, where someone had accused Igbos of FGM lately. I washed shocked being a mother, an Igbo woman and I was sure it had been stopped some time ago to the best of my knowledge. I was soon turned off by the NL site, until i peeped again someday and saw more horrible stuff said about Igbo women and dished on Stella Oduah! I realized like in the poster that i had to speak up quickly and i did. Sometimes using unsavory language. My husband HATES NL and he knows that when I'm free, it's my favorite hang out place... because i sincerely believe that in our interaction ( sometimes rough), we learn from each other's unique life experience. Which will often help us solve many problems confronting us. In 2009 or 2010, Peter Obi was once asked by ASA,USA what Anambra people in the USA can do to contribute to our state's development and he answered us simply in two words- CONTRIBUTE IDEAS! ![]() |
Nedu09:O'l boy, Shut up your smelly mouth! ...and show me where the same thing was posted anywhere on the internet before my post at 4.09am on December 30th, 2014! Instead of showing me the evidence to put me to shame, you are here opening your smelly rotten teeth. Useless drunk that cannot spell. |
Buddah=:Bro, History has proven that intolerance doesn't stop with just one group. Once you cultivate that emotion, you won't stop. When you were talking about other Igbos, i felt your pain but i wanted you to thread carefully with a forgiving heart. Because, even if you let other Igbo states go, if you let Anambra north go, you will also find a village in Okija you need to excise and let go. After that, you will still find a family in your village that needs to be excised and let go. ... and it will continue Bro, tread carefully on that dangerous emotion. That's how Adolf Hitler started oo! lol.. ![]()

Nedu09:You are actually a sick guy. A complete Anuofia! My post was at 4:09am and the guy copied my post and posted on the governor's facebook page 10 hours ago at 6.30am. Prove that the same thing was posted anywhere on the internet before 4:09am ! I am happy my ideas are found worthy to be brought to His Excellency's notice. That is totally why i waste time looking at Anambra and seeking better ways of doing things based on what i have learnt from other countries. i had previously lamented the lack of email or electronic access to Anambra governors, which i thank God Obiano maintains a facebook page and Twitter account. I am devoted to helping chart a new course for Anambra and Igboland in general. The major difference between Nigeria's stagnated development and other countries such as Brazil,China,Mexico etc is that they have a pure vision of where they want to go and money to support it,while we have lots and lots of money but lack vision in Nigeria. I am sure you are the person that copied my post. I thank you for bringing it to the governor's attention, but SHAME ON YOU, for not giving credit to the originator of the idea. |
