PoliticsRe: Confirmed. Jonathan has Destroyed The "Biggest Party In Africa". by OreMI22: 8:13pm On Apr 12, 2015
PDP deserve what they are getting now.
The sad thing is that the rot started with Obasanjo regime's assasination of powerful voices within the party or driving away those that disagreed with him such as Audu Ogbe, Iyorchia Ayu, Vincent Ogbulafo and even Chris Ngige.

Yet, the same Obasanjo was tolerated in the party when he started with getting governors to defect and form a "new PDP" and still tolerated for soooo long with many, many, many other anti-party activities until he finally ruined the party from within.

I hope they have learnt their lesson. They should rebuild the party based on justice and fairness.

PoliticsRe: Buhari Set To Cancel Strategic Chinese Direct Investments In Place Of IMF Loans. by OreMI22: 7:45pm On Apr 12, 2015
PPAngel:
The concluded WEF held in Abuja in May, 2014 saw China unveil a $42bn investment over the next 10yrs in the African continent with Nigeria expected to gulp the highest share of over $30bn in direct infrastructural investment, energy sector and manufacturing.

With the emergence of the newly appointed Colonial Governor of the Royal Niger Company aka Nigeria, expect to see Buhari cancel outrightly all Chinnese direct investments in preference to western loans from the IMF, World Bank and Paris Club.

Off course, all the newly borrowed money will be diverted with nothing on ground to show for it but debt for the next 40years.

Change Change Change!
That is exactly why the western powers wanted Buhari. He really can't see through the economic slavery designed by the west for Africans.

The economic partnership with China has really given the west, IMF and world bank a lot of sleepless nights.

The next move is to sign the economic partnership agreement(EPA) with Europe and completely kill manufacturing in Nigeria.

Well, we shouldn't blame Buhari but ourselves for what befalls Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Chimamanda Adichie's Article On The Oba Of Lagos Saga by OreMI22:
ControlX:
A few days ago, the Oba of Lagos threatened Igbo leaders. If they did not vote for his governorship candidate in Lagos, he said, they would be thrown into the lagoon. His entire speech was a flagrant performance of disregard. His words said, in effect: I think so little of you that I don’t have to cajole you but will just threaten you and, by the way, your safety in Lagos is not assured, it is negotiable.
There have been condemnations of the Oba’s words. Sadly, many of the condemnations from non-Igbo people have come with the ugly impatience of expressions like ‘move on,’ and ‘don’t be over-emotional’ and ‘calm down.’ These take away the power, even the sincerity, of the condemnations. It is highhanded and offensive to tell an aggrieved person how to feel, or how quickly to forgive, just as an apology becomes a non-apology when it comes with ‘now get over it.’
Other condemnations of the Oba’s words have been couched in dismissive or diminishing language such as ‘The Oba can’t really do anything, he isn’t actually going to kill anyone. He was joking. He was just being a loudmouth.’
Or – the basest yet – ‘we are all prejudiced.’ It is dishonest to respond to a specific act of prejudice by ignoring that act and instead stressing the generic and the general. It is similar to responding to a specific crime by saying ‘we are all capable of crime.’ Indeed we are. But responses such as these are diversionary tactics. They dismiss the specific act, diminish its importance, and ultimately aim at silencing the legitimate fears of people.
We are indeed all prejudiced, but that is not an appropriate response to an issue this serious. The Oba is not an ordinary citizen. He is a traditional ruler in a part of a country where traditional rulers command considerable influence – the reluctance on the part of many to directly chastise the Oba speaks to his power. The Oba’s words matter. He is not a singular voice; he represents traditional authority. The Oba’s words matter because they are enough to incite violence in a political setting already fraught with uncertainty. The Oba’s words matter even more in the event that Ambode loses the governorship election, because it would then be easy to scapegoat Igbo people and hold them punishable.
Nigerians who consider themselves enlightened might dismiss the Oba’s words as illogical. But the scapegoating of groups – which has a long history all over the world – has never been about logic. The Oba’s words matter because they bring worrying echoes of the early 1960s in Nigeria, when Igbo people were scapegoated for political reasons. Chinua Achebe, when he finally accepted that Lagos, the city he called home, was unsafe for him because he was Igbo, saw crowds at the motor park taunting Igbo people as they boarded buses: ‘Go, Igbo, go so that garri will be cheaper in Lagos!’
Of course Igbo people were not responsible for the cost of garri. But they were perceived as people who were responsible for a coup and who were ‘taking over’ and who, consequently, could be held responsible for everything bad.
Any group of people would understandably be troubled by a threat such as the Oba’s, but the Igbo, because of their history in Nigeria, have been particularly troubled. And it is a recent history. There are people alive today who were publicly attacked in cosmopolitan Lagos in the 1960s because they were Igbo. Even people who were merely light-skinned were at risk of violence in Lagos markets, because to be light-skinned was to be mistaken for Igbo.
Almost every Nigerian ethnic group has a grouse of some sort with the Nigerian state. The Nigerian state has, by turns, been violent, unfair, neglectful, of different parts of the country. Almost every ethnic group has derogatory stereotypes attached to it by other ethnic groups.
But it is disingenuous to suggest that the experience of every ethnic group has been the same. Anti-Igbo violence began under the British colonial government, with complex roots and manifestations. But the end result is a certain psychic difference in the relationship of Igbo people to the Nigerian state. To be Igbo in Nigeria is constantly to be suspect; your national patriotism is never taken as the norm, you are continually expected to prove it.
All groups are conditioned by their specific histories. Perhaps another ethnic group would have reacted with less concern to the Oba’s threat, because that ethnic group would not be conditioned by a history of being targets of violence, as the Igbo have been.
Many responses to the Oba’s threat have mentioned the ‘welcoming’ nature of Lagos, and have made comparisons between Lagos and southeastern towns like Onitsha. It is valid to debate the ethnic diversity of different parts of Nigeria, to compare, for example, Ibadan and Enugu, Ado-Ekiti and Aba, and to debate who moves where, and who feels comfortable living where and why that is. But it is odd to pretend that Lagos is like any other city in Nigeria. It is not. The political history of Lagos and its development as the first national capital set it apart. Lagos is Nigeria’s metropolis. There are ethnic Igbo people whose entire lives have been spent in Lagos, who have little or no ties to the southeast, who speak Yoruba better than Igbo. Should they, too, be reminded to be ‘grateful’ each time an election draws near?
No law-abiding Nigerian should be expected to show gratitude for living peacefully in any part of Nigeria. Landlords in Lagos should not, as still happens too often, be able to refuse to rent their property to Igbo people.
The Oba’s words were disturbing, but its context is even more disturbing:
The anti-Igbo rhetoric that has been part of the political discourse since the presidential election results. Accusatory and derogatory language – using words like ‘brainwashed,’ ‘tribalistic voting’ – has been used to describe President Jonathan’s overwhelming win in the southeast. All democracies have regions that vote in large numbers for one side, and even though parts of Northern Nigeria showed voting patterns similar to the Southeast, the opprobrium has been reserved for the Southeast.
But the rhetoric is about more than mere voting. It is really about citizenship. To be so entitled as to question the legitimacy of a people’s choice in a democratic election is not only a sign of disrespect but is also a questioning of the full citizenship of those people.
What does it mean to be a Nigerian citizen?
When Igbo people are urged to be ‘grateful’ for being in Lagos, do they somehow have less of a right as citizens to live where they live? Every Nigerian should be able to live in any part of Nigeria. The only expectation for a Nigerian citizen living in any part of Nigeria is to be law-abiding. Not to be ‘grateful.’ Not to be expected to pay back some sort of unspoken favour by toeing a particular political line. Nigerian citizens can vote for whomever they choose, and should never be expected to justify or apologize for their choice.
Only by feeling a collective sense of ownership of Nigeria can we start to forge a nation. A nation is an idea. Nigeria is still in progress. To make this a nation, we must collectively agree on what citizenship means: all Nigerians must matter equally.

My concern with the Igbo youths of today is they are too nice or too naive.

If Yoruba threatens violence, they should not only secretly prepare to inflict heavy casualty on anyone who dares to attack them in Lagos, but should also quietly track where Yorubas live in Enugu,Onitsha,Asaba,Port Harcourt or Aba and simply keep quiet and wait for action time.

Since they started the principle of reciprocity against northerners in the south for every riot in the north, anti- Igbo riots in the north have become rarer.

PoliticsPDP Must Retain Her States If They Hope To Comeback In 2019 by OreMI22(op): 1:07pm On Apr 04, 2015
PDP should quickly get over the loss of the presidential election by mere 2 million votes and come out robustly next saturday to retain her states.

Even Rochas Okorocha should be swept out next saturday. Mobilization of the PDP voters especially in the SE, NC and SS should start immediately.
PoliticsRe: Arise O' PDP, The Future Is Bright by OreMI22: 1:01pm On Apr 04, 2015
barcanista:
POST 2015 PDP
The Presidential election has come and gone. Winner and losers emerged. Opposition APC gaining power, and the ruling PDP losing power after being in the saddle for 16 years(but 5 years in practical terms). Nobody love to lose but in defeat we have to project the future and hope for the best as 2019 is just by the corner. The "New" PDP led by Jonathan should understand that election is all about popular opinion, and it is an established fact that popular opinion isn't necessarily the best. We have four years to prove that to the electorates, I believe we would.

Opposition parties in Africa are quite infamous for squandering opportunities and not living to expectation when voted into power. This is no different from the Nigeria situation. The PDP need to come together, allow those that want to defect to the ruling party-elect to do so unhindered, keep the young people in the party together, rebrand the party by taking advantage of Jonathan's Global popularity as a Democratic Icon(whoever disagrees is on his/her own), maintain social media presence and be ready to take back power from the APC in 2019.

IMPENDING CHANGE OF FORTUNE
I am very optimistic that power will change hand in 2019 as the ruling government-elect is nothing but conspiracy by some group of undemocratic political oligarchs that are bent on wrestling power from the outgoing incumbent to further their selfish political and self-economic interests using General Muhammadu Buhari as a front and media propaganda as weapon. When the joy of electoral victory is over and the business of governance set in from May 29, the real intention of the Buhari backers will begin to emerge though the manifestation may take some months or up to a year. The battle to control the machinery of the party(APC) and the government among the political oligarchs will emerge on one hand. On another hand there will be the inevitable confrontation between overbearing party leaders and elected/appointed officials. The in-fighting will directly or indirectly have effect on the government performance because there will be lots of sabotage from government officials(moles) that are loyal to the kingmakers within the party. All these coupled with unrealistic proposed social policies of Buhari's incoming government, the masses expectations are bound to erode and discontent brew as a result.

THE GOVERNMENT-ELECT OF APC
The APC took advantage of public discontent with some of the policies of Jonathan's government to launch propaganda and successfully won public sympathy. The party was NEVER founded on any ideology but on the platform of grabbing power from the incumbent President Jonathan and PDP, hiding under the slogan of change. Similar scenario played out in Tunisia and Egypt. Just like it ended for the "now opposition" in both countries, so it will be for the incoming ruling party APC, because no change can come through undemocratic, unpatriotic and non-ideological element as embodied in the APC. Propaganda can go thus far but can never reach a permanent destination. I hope the good people of Nigeria are ready to face what they signed up for.

TWO PRECEDENTS IN AFRICA
Egypt: In 2011 the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood took advantage of the discontent in Egypt to mobilise Egyptians in a popular uprising. The people of Egypt were determined to remove every Mubarak's element from power. Muhammed Morsi who was/is the leader of opposition Freedom and Justice Party(Muslim Brotherhood) promised better lives for Egyptians. in his own words, "I hope the people will choose me, an Islamist candidate from the Freedom & Justice party and Muslim Brotherhood, and God willing the system will move towards stability and development.". He was elected President by popular votes (51.73%) in June 2012. However exactly one year after ie June 2013, the same Egyptians that brought him to power took to the street to call for his ouster. Hope of a change under Morsi eluded, they couldn't wait for the end of the term. The Army led by Abdel Fattah Sisi struck amid wild jubilation. Sisi-mania was birthed. The people went further to call on Sisi to seek election in 2014, he was elected and the people are happy. Note, Sisi has always been an ally of exPresident Hosni Mubarak.

Tunisia: Like Egypt, Tunisians rose to popular uprising calling for the ouster of exPresident Ben Ali in 2011. The opposition led by Mohamed Marzouki took advantage to clinch power riding on public sentiment. He was later elected President in 2011. Three years later he was kicked out by the same people. Mr Ali Beji Essebsi, a longtime ally of exPresident Ben Ali was elected President in December 2013.

CONCLUSION
I welcome APC and look forward to see them assume power come May 29. They should be assured that some of us will stick to the PDP and take advantage of its national spread. We shall define the party and embrace our role as the new opposition. By the grace of God, Nigerians will in their numbers bring us back to power in 2019. I appeal to young people and supporters of the PDP to stick with the party. Let us rebuild. PDP Shall Lead Again...

Long Live "New" PDP
God Bless Nigeria
The PDP must come out aggressively to retain her strong hold in next weekend elections. Then begin to strategise for 2019.

My beloved Ndiigbo, I am not know to write long epistle to waste my time and your time when we can discuss directly the issue on ground.

It has come to my attention that APC and the Hausa-Fulani born to rule, along side their slaves are dangling the Office of Senate President in the face of the Igbo Nation. This, I find to be very funny.

At no time, did they ever intend to allow the Igbos any participation in the mainstream political process should APC emerge victorious. APC and the Hausa Fulani are bitter becos for the first time since the end of Biafra War, Igbos and the Niger Delta united and spoke with one voice.

The APC having attained the status of ruling party can no longer make unguarded comments hence the implied-repeal(offer with an injunction) approach is adopted. If Ngige had won the Senate, they would have voted overwhelmingly for a middle belt member of the Senate to emerge the Senate President.

APC has an agenda to capitalise on their recent victory in the Presidential election to win the State Government election in the South/South and South East. This win would mean business as usual, as their will be little or no resistance to Hausa Fulani domination of South South resources.

It is our duty and responsibility to resist every attempt to be held political prisoners and captive in Nigeria. It is our right as contributing members of Nigeria to occupy the seat of Presidency. It is our privilege to demand our fair share of federal projects and allocation and it is our prerogative to opt-out of the Nigeria Union, after a United Nations Referendum on membership of Nigeria or Separation from Nigeria.

We have the power and the decision is ours. It must not be business as usual, with the Hausa Fulani plundering our resources in the south in cohort with their slave.

God bless u all for your time. Igbo Kwenu!

Igbos should not commit political suicide by allowing APC win any of their states. If APC likes Igbo, let them show it at the federal level.

Congratulation to General Muhammadu Buhari on his victory in last weekend election.
My hope is that Buhari must revolutionize power and give Nigerians stable power supply in order to meet his pledge of massive jobs creation and economic growth.

Many studies like the one below have made the link that Nigeria cannot achieve its potential if stable power supply cannot be taken for granted.

I'm sure if power had been made stable under GEJ, many more people would have come out to vote for him. Stable power supply is what many Nigerians need desperately from the government.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/africa/boko-haram-thousands-march-in-cameroon-to-protest-against-the-islamist-terror-movement-10077630.html

Why is there no such mass protest march against Boko Haram in the muslim North of Nigeria?

That is exactly the region where those type of march would have more symbolic value and social impact. It would be a big 'NO' to any kind of muslim extremism by the muslim populations (and others) in northern Nigerians, the region most affected by the atrocities and susceptible to be recruited by the Boko Haram islamists.

If they have been protests against Boko Haram in the north, I'm sorry, please post some links. A teenage girl was burnt to death today in Bauchi after she was suspected to be a member of Boko Haram and a possible suicide bomber.
According to reports, the young lady had refused security men stationed at the entrance of the Muda Lawal market in Bauchi state to screen her with metal detectors. This raised suspicion among the market men and women who then forcefully raised the Hijab she was wearing and discovered two bottles tied around her waist. The market men and women immediately descended on her, beat her to death and then burnt her remains.
Confirming the incident, the state police spokesperson, Hatuna Mohammed in a statement said the sad incident happened at about 7am and that she'd been killed before police could come to her rescue
“At about 0700 hours (0600 GMT), information at our disposal revealed that a yet to be identified lady who allegedly refused to allow herself to be screened at the entrance of Muda Lawal Market Bauchi was attacked by irate mob,” he said see picture here http://pelwal33..in/2015/03/graphic-pic-teen-girl-burnt-to-death.html

PoliticsRe: Stop Killing Boko Haram Members – Buhari Tells FG by OreMI22: 3:22am On Mar 01, 2015
camplenigeria:
Former Head of Military Ruler and Chieftain of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Major General Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Federal Government to stop the clampdown of Boko Haram insurgents, saying Niger Delta Militants were never killed or properties belonging to them destroyed. Buhari who spoke on Sunday on a Liberty Radio programme, Guest of the Week monitored said accused the government of killing and destroying houses belonging to Boko Haram members while the Niger Delta militants get special treatment.

The former dictator said that unlike the special treatment given to the Niger Delta militants by the federal government, the Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses demolished by government. While accusing President Jonathan of failing from the beginning to address the security situation in the country, Buhari said he has never been in support of the state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa state. According to Buhari “what is responsible for the security situation in the country is caused by the activities of Niger Delta militants. Every Nigerian that is familiar with what is happening knows this. The Niger Delta militants started it all.

“What happened is that the governors of the Niger Delta region at that time wanted to win their elections. So they recruited the youths and gave them guns and bullets and used them against their opponents to win elections by force. “After the elections were over, they asked the boys to return the guns; the boys refused to return the guns. Because of that, the allowance that was being given to the youths by the governors during that time was stopped.

“The youths resorted to kidnapping oil workers and were collecting dollars as ransom. Now a boy of 18 to 20 years was getting about 500 dollars in a week, why will he go to school and spend 20 years to study and then come back and get employed by government to be paid N100,000 a month, that is if he is lucky to get employment.

“So kidnapping becomes very rampant in the South -South and the South -East. They kidnapped people and were collecting money.

“How did Boko Haram start? We know that their leader, Mohammed Yusuf started his militant and the police couldn’t control them and the army was invited. He was arrested by soldiers and handed over to the police.

“The appropriate thing to do, according to the law, was for the police to carry out investigations and charge him to court for prosecution, but they killed him, his in-law was killed, they went and demolished their houses.

“Because of that, his supporters resorted to what they are doing today.

You see in the case of the Niger Delta militants, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua sent an aeroplane to bring them, he sat down with them and discussed with them, they were cajoled, and they were given money and granted amnesty.

“They were trained in some skills and were given employment, but the ones in the north were being killed and their houses were being demolished.

They are different issues, what brought this? It is injustice”.

While fielding questions in English in the same programme, Buhari said that the promoters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) were aware of the challenges ahead of them in an effort to get the party registered, saying “the road to merger is quite rough.

“The ruling party, with its enormous resources and its capacity for coercion has seen it as a threat and they have said it. Personally, I came to realise since 2007 that Nigerians believe that the only way to stabilise the system of multi-party democracy is for the opposition parties that have representatives right from Councillors to the National Assembly come together to deliver their constituencies democratically.

This is the only way you can counter PDP’s enormous physical and material influence in the country”

He expressed optimism that the All Progressive Congress will be registered saying “by nature, I am an optimist. If I were not an optimist, I will not attempt to contest the presidency three times and end up in the Supreme Court three times. I believe we are going to be registered.

“There is a law guiding party registration which states that you must have your headquarters in the nation’s capital that can be identified by INEC and you must have a convention. All the three parties involved have held their conventions and have agreed to forsake our existing parties and go for APC.

“At the national level, we must have those who will run the party. As soon as we meet these criteria and INEC acknowledge that, 30 days after the acknowledgement, we are APC whether INEC write us and give us the registration or not”.

That is a B-52 bomber operated by ONLY the USA as a long range strategic bomber.
Without diminishing the glorious and eternally grateful roles of China and Russia in helping end the Boko Haram slaughter of Nigerians.
This B-52 picture alone unravels your ignorance around military equipment.
