BuddahMonk:Buddah, Please pipe low on that side. You will touch nerves that will misunderstand you. There is a reason why Awka not Onitsha became the capital of Anambra state- LAND I don't think the governor is being clannish. Take a look at Anambra map now, you can clearly see that zone is perhaps the only place left with ample land. Tell me a place at Okija or Oraifite that you can find 4 KM of fallow land which can be used for an airport runway without massively relocating villages or spending billions to fill up swaps. Perhaps the only place you can site at Okija will be the Okija to Umunankwo or Atani axis. Which is a swamp as you know already. Nonethe less, Peter Obi is trying to connect a road from Ozubulu to Atani through that swamp costing billions of naira and many bridges to do. Most of Anambra peoples' future buildings and projects will simply be sited in Asaba, unless serious conscious effort is made to open up the land in Anambra north through adequate infrastructure so that development can continue on Anambra soil. If you really want an egalitarian state which has a modern capital and Onitsha is opened up for further extension, you have no choice than to develop Awka towards Otuocha and build infrastructure so that Onitsha can expand towards Umunya and Nsugbe. Then you would agree with the governor and Peter Obi that it is the only area of our state where we can still find 20 virgin square kilometers to build a modern Anambra without paying so heavily on acquiring land and fighting people who you will inevitably demolish their houses.

spyder880:Bia Spyder nwoke oma, Are you back or you are still posting from villa? |
HappyJoe:You are looking at it from the point of view of building it tomorrow. Which is wrong. This Anambra light rail project may cost N30-50 billion naira. Which is definitely unaffordable for Anambra. Therefore, You have to roll it out over 5 to 10 years period and spend about N5 billion naira on it every year. But the earlier you start planning for it and implementing your plans, the closer you get to the day when it will be commissioned. Even in America, it took the city of Atlanta about 10 years to build its light rail metro line. It's definitely not a quick fix project. |
HappyJoe:I think the should build the Awka to Onitsha line first using the expressway median. The would require no bridges and should be cheap and affordable. Then as the Awka-Onitsha line begins to earn revenue, government will deploy some of that revenue to build the expensive Onitsha-Nnewi line which requires long flyover bridges for go over the built up areas. But at least then, they will have more revenue coming from the already functioning Awka-Onitsha line. A 13 kilometer spur can run from the refinery at Otuocha to meet the Awka -Onitsha line at Nteje. This way, people can easily go to work from Onitsha and Awka to Otuoch while agricultural produce from that area can also easily be transported to Onitsha or Awka. |
I just saw another Abia thread:https://www.nairaland.com/2068012/welcome-abia-state-industrial-economic/2 Can we concentrate on this one and make it succeed? Why open 20 threads? BTW, some enemies have been opening threads for us just to distract us. |
HappyJoe:Although intra city light rail system will do a lot of good for moving around Onitsha, it won't be peanuts because almost the entire railine will have to be a bridge. There are simply no spaces left for the train to run on land. It will be a herculean task designing and building an intra city train for Onitsha metro. The roads are really, really tight. |
Schematics:That will be wonderful to achieve. Nnewi needs dual carriage roads to help traffic. I hope they know paying for property compensation will be a huge part of the money. |
Ilovenigeria:That is the best and perhaps the only remaining site in the heart of town for the mall. To make traffic flow easily; 1. They should ban street parking around the Mall triangle roads. 2. They need to build 2 roundabouts on the two points showed in yellow circles in the picture. 3. Then strictly enforce the One-Way direct of traffic for those coming from Nnobi road and those joining it. As showed in the arrow showing the road direction. So long as people are allowed to drive as they please and make U-turns as they desire around that area, the traffic jams will simply worsen.

Buddah Monk, Ezigbo nwannem, wetue obi. Biko, iwe gi dajuo o. Your stories touch the heart and i know you have endured some agony just recalling them. But, life isn't fair. There are bad people everywhere. Those bad people will always create evil and problems. My husband and I have endured many challenges simply because we were from different states. I had initially dreaded going to Oraifite because of a particular man's hatred for Ndi Abia in his family. The man completely believed i had charmed their son and will get rid of me and my "charm" in due course. Now, in the midst of everything, many sisters and other good people in the family rose up and fought for me. Their logic was simple, "If they do this to any of us in our husbands place, will you like it?" Remember that our Father Dim Odimegwu Ojukwu married and lived happily with an Udi woman. The more you understand life, the more you will see that God designed these things to teach us that we are one. There are evil people in this world that sow bitterness, hatred and just pure evil. To label this people by the tag of their state or hometown is to make the mistake of your life. In due course, you will find that you have labelled every town, state or country as evil, because evil people truly come from everywhere. In America, many black Americans will be quick to seek your support as a fellow "black person" to fight and malign white people. Meanwhile as soon as the attack on the white person is over, they immediately realize you are no longer "black" but an "African or immigrant" and the attack turns to you. I have since learnt that evil people are white, black,African, Japanese etc, so i treat people based on the content of their character and not where they come from. The past is the past and we cannot change it. The future is what we have a chance of changing if we learn from our past. If you focus on sins of the past, you will also ruin the future and future generations will blame your unforgiving spirit for their condition.Mandela understood this power of the past to ruin the future unless you forsake the past and embrace a new future. The only way Igboland will survive the hatred and evil plans being hatched around Nigeria for her is to unite. By unity i mean both political, economic and spiritual. I have been a great apostle of economic cooperation amongst SE states. I know that is the only way that we can survive and soar. A house divided against itself simply cannot stand. |
spyder880:Thank God o! So how did a rolling vehicle manage to climb over others? Instead of just hitting them and stopping? God save us from the devil. |
cjrane: You are welcome Sir! |
If only APC had strategic thinkers that did not place their hatred for Igbos before party interest. Anyhow, the die is cast. GEJ until 2019! |
FreeGlobe:Sorry for the poor math skill. ![]() |
Malawian:Yes Sir. |
Anambra Light Rail Project ? I learnt that Ethiopia engaged a Chinese construction firm (China Railway Engineering Corporation) to build a 35 Kilometer long light rail projects for Addis Ababa mega city project for the sum of $475 million dollars about N8 billion naira. This project involves about 20 rail overpasses! Then i measured the exact straight line distance from Onitsha outskirts to Awka outskirts is exactly 20 kilometers (Yellow line). From Nnewi to where the Onitsha station is located will be 15 kilometers! With 35 kilometers the same length of the Addis Ababa light rail, we could linkup the 3 biggest cities in Anambra by light railway ! The enormous impact of such a project on the socio-economic status of the state can only be imagine. The best part is that if the Chinese could build it for about N8 billion naira in Ethiopia, they might charge about the same or slightly more to replicate that project here. Even if it cost N10 billion naira, such money spinning project will quickly pay for itself. Not to talk of the fact that due to the highly commercial nature of the 3 cities that it will link together, many banks will be very willing to finance this project. We may build the project in 2 phases. Phase 1 will build the yellow line (Onitsha to Awka). The Awka-Onitsha line will run in the Median of Onitsha-Awka expressway, which has a huge median as in the pictures below. That way, it won't need many costly bridges to complete and may even cost less than N3- N5 billion naira for the about 20 KM stretch without flyover bridges. Once the phase 1 line (Onitsha-Awka) is functional and earning money, then Phase 2 line (Blue line) Onitsha to Nnewi will commence. Eventually, the Onitsha station can be extended to Otuocha, The Awka line can be extended to Ekwulobia and the Nnewi end to the line can be extended to Ihiala. See Addis Ababa project here: http://pr.huawei.com/en/news/hw-349650-ict.htm#.VKIQo14CUA

The flight can actually fly non-stop from Karachi International Airport, Pakistan to Addis Ababa,Ethiopia for 5 hours. Then link up from Addis Ababa directly to Abuja, Nigeria within 4-5 hours of flight. So, they really don't need to use the Saudi airspace at all. Saudi Arabian Airline should also avoid our airspace and airports.
|
cjrane:EXACTLY!! I just looked up the flight path and it's not even hard at all. Simply break the trip and avoid Saudi airspace. But, Saudi Arabia airlines must stop using Nigeria's airspace and facilities too.

FreeGlobe:The other pictures were Enugu-Onitsha expressway and the Upper Iweka area. I will not waste anyone's time here re-posting how Upper Iweka looks. Peter Obi awarded the contract if you must know.It is Obiano's credit that the road was executed to the highest quality in the country. https://www.nairaland.com/1538259/obi-set-start-amansea-amawbia https://www.nairaland.com/2065852/behold-onitsha-enugu-road-looking#29290867 This is not to say Peter Obi did not have his mistakes and flaws. In my opinion, Obi failed woefully on the environment. The failure to ban Okada in which many Ndi-Anambra were dying everyday from preventable injuries was also regrettable. Having said that, considering the type of people he had to deal with in order to instill sanity into Anambra state, he deserves more than a pass mark for all he did. Obiano has since begun to plug all the loop holes Obi left unplugged. Such as doubling the IGR within 6 months and still rising. Concentrating on making the environment "live-able" by chasing away criminals and embarking on real ambitious projects to transform the sorry look of our state capital. My aim has been achieved; To expose you as a shameless unrepentant liar. You have no regard for the truth, yet you believe that you have the "right" to criticize others based on blatant lies. Now when they expose your lies, you begin cursing like a child trying to make it personal. Let me be clear, I have nothing personally against you nor your hatred of Peter Obi. But you must stick to the facts so that people can take you seriously. |
FreeGlobe:See your posts Here: https://www.nairaland.com/1445464/anambra-chino-doesnt-want-see#18224316 (Date Posted: :12:51pm on September 19th, 2013 ) See Nobody's rebuttal posts Here: https://www.nairaland.com/1458410/few-pics-nnewi (Date Posted: :11:24am on September 29th,2013 ) Now tell me Peter Obi read your posts in NL on September 19th, quickly advertised the contract, received bids from construction companies, awarded the contract to fix that road and the contract winning construction company built the road, all within 10 days!!! Knowing you, you'll probably want me to believe that too. Anyone looking at the picture of the road knows it wasn't a newly completed road.Bro, you are indeed a shameless bloody LIAR! ![]()
|
FreeGlobe:You posted that picture in September 2013 WHEN THE ROAD HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE! You were hoping to get support for your brother Ngige by telling lies. Mind you, peter Obi wasn't on the ballot! Unfortunately for you, you were busted as the true state of the road was posted as a rebuttal to your lies. So, that makes you a shameless bloody liar! See your posts Here: https://www.nairaland.com/1445464/anambra-chino-doesnt-want-see#18224316 |
FreeGlobe:If Peter Obi is your target, Say so and MAKE IT CLEAR! Target his Mall in Abuja or something. Nobody will bother you. I need not remind you that Peter Obi is no longer the Governor of Anambra. Therefore, when you snap refuse dumps or post 10 years old pictures of Nnewi roundabout and say see how Anambra state looks like. We find it hard to relate your aggression to Peter Obi, especially knowing that you had deliberately lied with the pictures. Remember when you first posted the roundabout below making us believe that was the state of Nnewi roads and some countered your lie by posting the same roundabout in the second picture? So, was your aggression towards Peter Obi or Nnewi people?
|
FreeGlobe:Sorry to disappoint you, I won't ![]() People have warned you not to extend your war against Peter Obi to mean War against the entire Anambra state. That expansion ropes in others who may not like Obi, but will defend their state-Anambra. You can very well go and "sauce" pictures of Abia state or even Imo or Akwa Ibom. That is your headache ![]() Infact, you'll be doing me a favour to help bash Orji to do better as i have been doing. I thank God B2Mario and customized have exposed the lies and propaganda about Abia state. There has been a lot of positive developments in Abia state. Perhaps much less than the rate we expected, but still positive developments. |
UnknownT:Fayemi doesn't want to rise to the challenge and say what he left in the treasury. ![]() |
FreeGlobe: ![]() I do support Abia thread and Imo thread to the best of my ability. I even support Enugu thread. I didn't live too long in Abia. I only remember parts of Aba and Owerri from distant memory.I know Onitsha like the back of my hand. My parents were in Oraifite on the 26th to visit "My family" and stayed in " My House""! So I won't abandon Anambra. It is my bonafide state now! You must be expecting me to beg you not to post. Hehehehe...lol....If you don't post those pictures shame on you! Jobless brat! |
OdenigboAroli:..The eediot ofe guy is itching for attention. Don't give it to him.

FreeGlobe:@ the bolded, If that is a threat, you are wasting your time. I wholeheartedly accept your criticism if it is constructive. Show us an early erosion site or early stage of road breakdown and sound the warning that government should do something before it worsens.May look ugly, but its constructive. I live in Massachusetts in the USA, supposedly the richest country on earth. Yet, i know i can post some pictures of rundown parts of Boston here and you will ask if i went to Haiti to get the slum pictures.Yet, there are countless beautiful places here to represent the true Boston. Likewise whatever you choose to post about Anambra to satisfy your perversion to project negativity is entirely your headache. Therefore, I won't beg you not to snap refuse dumps elsewhere and post here if that pleases your warped ego.Other peoples testimony will evetually make you appear like Vonbottel a.k.a All4naija. I'm Anambrarian by marriage. My parents are from Item in Abia state. If i born in Abia state can wish Anambra well, shame on you born in Anambra that wish it the worst. |
FreeGlobe:I was expecting you to say just that,..... and also post all the ugly pictures you can find to "prove" nothing is happening in Anambra. Luckily, we already have others posting pictures they took in Anambra to "verify" your story for us. ![]() |
Schematics:.......and good security too |
The type of "Go-slow" happening these days inside Owerri is becoming unacceptable. All the cars coming from Onitsha and all over Nigeria that are travelling to Aba, Cross River or Akwa Ibom pass right through the heart of Owerri creating mammoth go-slows! Can someone advise Rochas to expand and dualize the Ihiagwa-Futo road to connect the Owerri-PH expressway directly to the Owerri-Aba expressway. This by-pass will eliminate all these lorries and big buses driving inside Owerri and ruining our local roads. This By-Pass only about 11 kilometers long, will save Owerri city roads and do wonders for the quality of life of Owerri residents. The creation of this by pass should ordinarily be a function of the FG, but Rochas should do it and seek reimbursement since it's just 11 KM long.We know that left alone, the FG will take 20 years to do the Owerri by-pass. Meanwhile Owerri city roads & citizens shall continue to suffer the harmful effect of massive traffic using Owerri streets to connect from the Onitsha-Owerri road to Aba-Owerri road. Someone should please send an SOS to Governor Rochas!
