FreeGlobe: ![]() I do support Abia thread and Imo thread to the best of my ability. I even support Enugu thread. I didn't live too long in Abia. I only remember parts of Aba and Owerri from distant memory.I know Onitsha like the back of my hand. My parents were in Oraifite on the 26th to visit "My family" and stayed in " My House""! So I won't abandon Anambra. It is my bonafide state now! You must be expecting me to beg you not to post. Hehehehe...lol....If you don't post those pictures shame on you! Jobless brat! |
OdenigboAroli:..The eediot ofe guy is itching for attention. Don't give it to him.

FreeGlobe:@ the bolded, If that is a threat, you are wasting your time. I wholeheartedly accept your criticism if it is constructive. Show us an early erosion site or early stage of road breakdown and sound the warning that government should do something before it worsens.May look ugly, but its constructive. I live in Massachusetts in the USA, supposedly the richest country on earth. Yet, i know i can post some pictures of rundown parts of Boston here and you will ask if i went to Haiti to get the slum pictures.Yet, there are countless beautiful places here to represent the true Boston. Likewise whatever you choose to post about Anambra to satisfy your perversion to project negativity is entirely your headache. Therefore, I won't beg you not to snap refuse dumps elsewhere and post here if that pleases your warped ego.Other peoples testimony will evetually make you appear like Vonbottel a.k.a All4naija. I'm Anambrarian by marriage. My parents are from Item in Abia state. If i born in Abia state can wish Anambra well, shame on you born in Anambra that wish it the worst. |
FreeGlobe:I was expecting you to say just that,..... and also post all the ugly pictures you can find to "prove" nothing is happening in Anambra. Luckily, we already have others posting pictures they took in Anambra to "verify" your story for us. ![]() |

The type of "Go-slow" happening these days inside Owerri is becoming unacceptable. All the cars coming from Onitsha and all over Nigeria that are travelling to Aba, Cross River or Akwa Ibom pass right through the heart of Owerri creating mammoth go-slows! Can someone advise Rochas to expand and dualize the Ihiagwa-Futo road to connect the Owerri-PH expressway directly to the Owerri-Aba expressway. This by-pass will eliminate all these lorries and big buses driving inside Owerri and ruining our local roads. This By-Pass only about 11 kilometers long, will save Owerri city roads and do wonders for the quality of life of Owerri residents. The creation of this by pass should ordinarily be a function of the FG, but Rochas should do it and seek reimbursement since it's just 11 KM long.We know that left alone, the FG will take 20 years to do the Owerri by-pass. Meanwhile Owerri city roads & citizens shall continue to suffer the harmful effect of massive traffic using Owerri streets to connect from the Onitsha-Owerri road to Aba-Owerri road. Someone should please send an SOS to Governor Rochas!

POSITIVE threads like this die after 5 pages. If its tribalism, it will be 50 pages now. ![]() |
HzRF:We have told them. Let them listen or act foolishly. It is their choice now. |
Any Igbo that lose his life in this election that doesn't concern them should blame himself. Leave Northern Nigeria NOW!!! 2015: The fault lines are clear again. And like in 1966, Buhari and northern elites will unleash Almajiris to attack you there will be bloodshed. ..and we shall swiftly retaliate on All northerners all over SE and SS. Don't be caught in the north when this is happening. Let those that have ears listen!!! |
customized13:Customized13, Thank you for supporting our threads in NL. You are true Igboman in the truest sense of the word. Ndewo! |
B2mario:Trees and grass do stop erosion. In Rwanda, terracing with grass have been used to stop erosion and landslides from the mountainous region. But in Nigeria, it will be easier to convince our people to pour concrete than plant trees or grass. Our people just don't like the concept of planting anything like grass or trees for any reason at all. We'd rather cut down more trees planted by nature and use them for firewood. ![]() |
kinibigdeal:Dude, Don't lecture me on how to address the op. The same exact type of Nigerians that will applaud Boko Haram attacks in Nigeria thinking they are making the country ungovernable have taken their warped mentality elsewhere. If Nigerian streets were like those in the picture, I'm sure the op will not need to leave Nigeria to go to vacation in America. I think we Nigerians have the least right to criticize any country on earth because we don't even have a country in the true sense of the word. |
MOBJECTIVE: ![]() Bros, Bia no kill me with laff o! These are some of the good pictures in our previous threads that were killed. Most of the pictures were taken in September and November, 2014. Not that long ago if you really think about it. |
ellistmedia:The op is crazy. USA has not said it has zero poverty rate. What amuses me about my fellow Nigerians is our penchant to laff at people better than us. Those poor Americans have Medicaid to take care of their health and many many government assistance. Nigerians can only dream of such. Even those classified as "poor" in USA and living in "projects" have higher standard of life than our middle class. They have 2 bedroom apartment with running water, electricity, food stamps to buy food and even have cars packed in their parking lots! You'd only see such luxury amongst those working for shell or something ![]() Even the poor streets you posted above look better than Maitama,Wuse,Asokoro or other nice parts of Abuja which we wasted our entire national wealth on. Not to talk about how Karu or Nyanya which is the equivalence will look like compared to those pictures. |
relchange:It's the Onitsha stock exchange. I am glad we don't build bungalow government buildings any longer in Anambra state. I also like the building, but i wish we can begin to transition into the stage of building medium high rise buildings like these. Even if they are only 4-5 floors high.

Anambra on the march

customized13:As a child in the early 1980s, it was a most prestigious thing to live in Aba than any other SE city. It was crown jewel of the pack. Today, it is rated the WORST city in the SE. I hope this great city regains her lost glory. |
In this new year, one hopes we can begin to see medium high-rise buildings of between 6-10 floors to create high quality office spaces in the business districts of our cities. Merry Xmas and a prosperous New year to Umuigbo nile in Jesus Name!

Regular and efficient refuse collection has always been a challenge. Especially in Awada, Okpoko and Fegge. |
Nnewi1stSon:@ bolded, I completely disagree. Only great men dare to dream! .......says Abraham Lincoln America is too big for small dreams......says Ronald Reagan. Anambra state had been one state that consistently punched below its weight precisely because it had clueless, visionless leaders. As much as i detest Ngige, truth is that he was the first to demonstrate that Anambra state could build quality state roads. Today we take such for granted. Peter Obi demonstrated that building bridges was not an exclusive preserve of the FG and oil producing states by building several bridges across the state. At a time, Anambra was the ONLY state in the SE that did not have a state university because of the constant excuse that its allocation was so small it could not afford to fund a university. Today we know it was all a lie because Ebonyi and Enugu that had smaller allocation than Anambra withing the same period had a state university for her children. Just after the civil war in 1972, land in the part of Onitsha called Woliwo and Omagba land was being sold. Yorubas who were much in Onitsha then bought up most of the land and resold to Igbos. My father did not have a penny, yet he managed to get loans from friends to buy two plots in woliwo area. From his little business, he has since built 2 three storey buildings in Woliwo on his lands. Even though it took him more than 25 years to achieve. That is the power of having a dream bigger than oneself and not being defeatist in your thinking. Obiano is right to dream about transforming Anambra into Dubai. Even Dubai did not have all the money to build what it is today when they started. The more he thinks about it, the more he will find a way to do it. Not dreaming big because of our previous fear that Anambra was a poor state has been our biggest undoing since 1970s. Obiano should infact launch a decade long development plan for things like light rail linking Otuocha, Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi to Ihiala. The Obianos and Chimes are exactly the types of people we need in modern Igboland to compete and be relevant in the new world order. Not those that constantly build substandard mushroom structures under the never ending excuse "Anambra is a poor state"

Schematics:The biggest hiccup to the project has been when the bridge connecting Anam ultra-modern city directly into 33/GRA Onitsha will be awarded and built. The present access bridge is about 30 KM away from Onitsha GRA. Since the idea is to create a modern GRA Onitsha in this city, a bridge that far away will be unattractive for anyone to go there and build their house. Then will have to travel almost to Otuocha every day just to get home from Onitsha. So this new proposed bridge to connect Onitsha 33/GRA which should cost at least N3 billion naira must be built for this project to see the light of the day. I thought Peter Obi would atleast award the bridge contract as one of his many bridge projects, but that didn't happen. Maybe a deal with IDC can be reached to build this vital new bridge for this project to take off. Even if the state secures a bank loan to build the bridge and eventually put a cheap toll gate just to make sure it is repaid, i believe it is a good investment. The Anam city project if implemented according to master plan will be another Eko Atlantic city in context, not scope. See map for explanation of the challenges faced by Anam ultra modern city.

Schematics:i'm not against the airport as it will help open up the Anambra oil and gas sector to take off. I am just saying we need to implement some of the plans we have already agreed will lift up the state. Instead of always being in the planning mode and never implementing anything we spent so much time planning. |
asha80:Ofcourse, all the projects cannot be achieved in one day. They are supposed to be a phased rolling development plan in which a few is achieved each year and it might take 15 or 20 years to achieve the entire dream. However, there are a few projects that are supposed to be of immediate implementation because they open the way for others to follow. The financial commitment involved are some of the reasons why a good plan to grow the IGR and collect taxes that actually enter into the Anambra state account is highly imperative. According to the plan, the first phase was to decongest Onitsha be relocation of poorly situated markets and all the bus terminals away from upper iweka flyover area to a central bus park/terminal at Ogbunike along the Onitsha-Enugu expressway. Onitsha was supposed to have implemented the central bus terminal station/ park at Ogbunike. Which should be as vast as an airport having loading stations for different transporters, eateries and space where they can park their buses. That has not been achieved and i believe the plan may have been dumped entirely since Obi left office and a new plan being devised. Which may still be dumped if Obiano leaves office. I had once said that due to shortage of funds, instead of building an airport at Otuocha-Anam, the state will benefit more using the funds to build a modern bus terminal somewhere along Onitsha -Awka expressway before the old toll gate. Our problem isn't the shortage of good ideas or plans, it is the will to implement anything at all we have planned. |
ideyvexnow:You just succinctly put the whole issue into context. This is simply the root of the matter. To control Nigeria's oil resources and use it to suppress other ethnic groups. |
One plea I will want Obiano to consider is to link the vast Awada layout residents to Onitsha directly by building a small two lane bridge over the Enugu-Onitsha expressway at Oraifite street by New Cemetery road (MCC road.) In spite of its huge population, Awada layout is one area of Onitsha metropolis that you cannot find a bus taking you directly to the main market. They will bring you to the end of Oraifite street where you will cross the expressway on foot or go to Upper Iweka via Okada riding against the direction of traffic and then find another bus at upper Iweka to take you to main market. If you live in Awada, you will know how difficult this can be for pregnant women trying to get ante-natal care at the general hospital. The whole trip using public transport can take up to one hour. Which could be 10-15 minutes if a small bridge is built to connect the vital Oraifite street corridor to the New Cemetery road ( MCC road.) The UN habitat plan for Onitsha recommended a flyover to connect these critical roads which used to be the same New Cemetery road but was bisected when the expressway was constructed, and the other half of it in Awada renamed Oraifite street. I hope somehow, people will bring this lingering problem to Obiano's attention. He seems determined to right all the anomalies that have frustrated the full take off of Anambra state. ....and this bridge does not have to be a major flyover. Something like the Billante bridge connecting Trans-Ekulu to GRA Enugu or something more modern like the small two lane American bridge in the picture below going over a highway will do the magic to link up the New Cemetery road which continued as Oraifite street at the Awada end, and thus help the millions of Anambrarians living in Awada to come into Onitsha easily. Thank you Sirs.

GEJ is still a better man than Buhari. Nigeria had moved so much in the development indices under GEJ. Someone said he had high oil price. Didn't Obasanjo and IBB have high oil prices and still squandered the windfall? Someone said GEJ had good ministers, Aganga,Iweala,Chukwu,Adeshina. It takes a great President to eshew tribalism and bigotry to mobilize capable Nigerians inspite of their ethnic or religious affliation to come and serve Nigeria in government. So GEJ deserves the credit he gets for using competent ministers. All said and done, GEJ is a better human being than Buhari.... and he will defeat Buhari again. I hope the PDP immediately start their campaign in full swing. Let the touring of the country begin now!!! APC hopelessly has no chance of beating GEJ with buhari! |
asha80:Second pic is the Enugu-Awka expressway. The First and third pics are the road & bridge leading to Agulu resort hotel. |
