PoliticsRe: Does Nigeria Need A Referendum To Stay Together?- Thisdaylive.com by OreMI22: 10:12pm On Oct 23, 2016
gidgiddy:
I believe that the British should have conducted a referendum in 1960 to allow the ethnic nationalities decide if they want to carry on with the British invented idea called Nigeria. Of course, nobody could have foresaw the calamity that would come later in the shape of a civil war.

I think there should be 3 referendums.

The first, to determin those who wants to continue with 'one Nigeria' and those who want to go.

The second referendum will be held amongst those who decide to leave Nigeria so that they can decide who they want to stay with eg, It could be that Itsekiri,Isoko and Ijaw want to be together as a separate country or maybe all the Igbos and Igboids of Delta and Rivers all prefare to be together or maybe Efik/Ibibio/Ogoja/ Calabar/Oron want Oyono Republic. Or maybe everbody wants to be together

A third and last referendum will be held amongst the group(s) that have decided to be together, on what sort of constitution, system of Government, and terms of being together.
Deceitful post.

Using your example of multiple referendum to decide the most minute detail, What about the 5th referenda to decide who will rule, 7th referenda to decide how to distribute national projects, 8th referenda to decide how to deal with corrupt government officials , 9th referenda to decide blah ...blah ... blah and Fulani herdsmen menace until the 90th referenda?

Nigeria needs just ONE referendum to allow those considered second class citizens or 5% to leave peacefully if they wish before it inevitably leads to an armed conflict which will dislocate Nigeria and indeed much of Africa for another 100 years.

All security experts including the CIA have predicted that a second Nigerian major civil war isn't a question of if but when.Exactly why they are meeting northern governors now in Washington DC to intimate them about secret arms acquisitions happening around the world which may eventually find its way into a Nigerian conflict now that the conflict could be averted for the sake of Africa

Please let us get it clear.
It is ignorance powered by folly that causes them to talk down on other Africans.

It is only the unfortunately successful marriage between ignorance and folly that
supplies the confidence to Nigerian youth to brimmingly spew ignorance outside while they doggedly cling on to every ideological position that keeps them inferior in today's modern day world.

Reminds me what Piers Morgan said of Amorosa on the 1st episode of the celebrity apprentice: "Her ego writes cheques her personality cannot cash".

100% correct!

Nigerians have been fed lies from birth that we are "Giant of Africa"

Unfortunately, many African countries have a higher standard and quality of life than Nigerians. If Kenya and other countries as Botswana,Ghana, Cote d'ivoire, Rwanda, Tanzania etc and all north african countries are beating Nigeria in every human development indices and yet they don't have OIL, think of where they would have been with the vast oil wealth Nigeria had.

It is disgraceful that just a few states such as Kano, Rivers or Akwa Ibom state which takes more money from Federation account than all of Kenya's budget put together, yet we have nothing to show for all the money we have as a nation.

But, of course we cannot understand it because we a supposed to be the Giant of Africa. In reality we are the BIG Disgrace of Africa

Seconded every anambra son is aware that willie obiano is continuing from where obi stopped
So far i am impressed with Obiano's achievements
I am aware that if not for the fall in oil prices obiano could have performed better than all the Nigerian governors elected since 99
My problem is when some ingrates try to drag obi into the mud by saying that he achieved nothing
But these ingrates don't understand that if obi had not laid the foundation obiano wouldn't have recorded this progress we are witnessing
Finally thank God for the gift of obi and Obiano
Obi definitely did a lot to pull Anambra from the brink of failed state where rogue godfathers and Obasanjo simply shared the state's resources at parties with underage girls.

Obiano is a seasoned administrator and has a clear vision what is needed for a state to develop. Obi kind of knows education, health etc are important for a society to develop, but didn't really understand how it worked with enabling environment and bold infrastructure improvement. Above all, we will remain eternally grateful to Obi for giving us Obiano.

Secondly, Obi was considered Ojukwu's political son and he should have known the importance of Ojukwu to Ndigbo. He very well became a governor due to Ojukwu's endorsement of his character. I think Obi goofed when he left APGA and then started bad mouthing his own very successor! Thus, many of his die-hard supporters simply left him in disillusion & disgust. The same thing happened to Ngige when he joined APC and the same thing would happen to Obiano if he dares to leave APGA for APC.

We already know APC is hell bent on using Buhari's cousin as INEC chairman to rig all the elections from now to 2019. Where they lost so badly that rigging would be impossible, INEC will declare the elections "Inconclusive"

The days where incumbents never lose elections no matter the will of the people is back. Nigeria is officially back in the 1950s type of leadership

Dangote is one of the problems with Nigeria.
Always plotting with corrupt leaders to cheaply buy our national assets and get all sorts of concession that ruin our economy. Like giving him dollars at subsidized rate, while he never reduced the price of his products. Now, we have been led into a recession totally out of that crazy idea.

@OreMI22...I had sincerely hoped things would have been better? I envisioned this country going to the moon soon instead we see FG projects on production of pencils... pencils sad
[b]
My dear,

You see, you cannot build a nation by undermining part of it and trampling on justice & equity.I mentioned the Libyan-Fulani herdsmen as a metaphor of how injustice in the system will allow a fulani man to murder a local farmer and still walk free, while you cannot kill their chicken without going to jail! Your president pretends he is powerless against these people but finds all his powers when dealing with Gov. Fayose who made laws to protect Ekiti people.

These same injustices in the system will not allow anyone to feel they are Nigerian and therefore, that your moon travel will never happen as the best brains will be overlooked in preference to a fulani man in FG engineering jobs. After paying Bursary to a fulani child with lower cut off marks, the brilliant son of a fisherman in the south is allowed to drop out of school because nobody will pay for his education. Is that fair?

In America, there is a speech in January called "State of the Union" where the President addresses pressing issues of justice, equity, fairness and economic growth.

In Nigeria, we believe justice and fairness is inimical to our progress. Thus, Nigeria is today a dying country and it's guaranteed to die at some point unless serious steps are taken to address issues of justice and fairness.

I graduated with high hopes, had big dreams, worked hard to be the best graduating student in my department, and above all genuinely loved my country.

To change things in my country has always been my aim, slowly it rescinded to just things in my field of study and now I wonder! My eyes has slowly but surely been opened to the sham this country and our leaders are. They have practically sold our birthrights and would not hesitate to sell our hopes if they could. I have watched as Chinese contractors balantly cheated and killed the spirit of Nigerian engineers with the backing of our leaders, our so called protectors who they simply pay off and they turn a blind eye, I have watched as half-baked Asians curse at and disregard the opinions of fellow highly intelligent engineers in our own country, arguing isn't an option because you would simply be sacked and majority have accepted their fate, who would want to fight a battle that the mentality and utterances of people around you have said you can't win? Who would want to fight a lost battle? I have watched the engineering passion slowly extinguish from the eyes of my fellow great engineers, I have seen that innovative and creative spark die in a lot of good men/women who have resigned to fate.

I have seen intelligent young people with great dreams resort to betting and quick money schemes and loose the little they have trying make a little cash, I have also been privileged to see some lucky few leave this country and her woes behind to even lesser countries to start afresh and get to expend their brain resources and be noticed. I have watched my country willingly let go of extremely intelligent young capable hands under the guise of tribalism, religious fanatisim etc and I can't help but wonder where has my country gone?

I said goodbye to a very brilliant young friend of mine today who is migrating to Gods Own Country, this is someone who we both shared great dreams we had hoped to achieve in the field of engineering here in our country, I looked at my friend and asked when would you be back? and got a sad smile in return. Well, Maybe Nigeria prefers to read of her peoples exploits in developed and willing to develop countries. Who knows I may join up soon!!!

But I say, Nigeria wake up, reclaim your past glory, cast off any form of religious yoke, cast of tribalism and embrace common sense, do not let all your heroes of tomorrow leave while you wallow in past glory, we claim to be a godly country but 90% of us are two-faced, sometimes I do imagine God/Allah looking down and shaking His head at us, its not enough to claim to be His child, we have to act the part.

Arise Nigeria...Arise

So lemme ask,,
Which country did you have all that high hopes for? Nigeria??

Apart from the clinic where you were born, was your birth even documented anywhere in the official documents of Nigeria?

You see why Fulani herdsmen from Libya have more rights than you as a so called Nigerian?

Apart from Governor Fayose fighting for the rights of Ekiti citizens to live and farm in their land without harrassment and murder by the so called Fulani-Libyan herdsmen, which other Nigerian governor have stood up for the so called Nigerian citizens they govern in their state

Appointing incompetent people to run the economy purely out of sentiment of being APC party members is what rules Buhari's mindset & decisions, and what has ruined Nigerian economy.

When OBJ pleaded with NOI to help him boost Nigeria's economy, she was neither a PDP member nor even living in Nigeria. She was a top Nigerian technocrat at the world bank.

Anyhow, how does it concern me? Those that want every decision to be based on primordial party, tribal or religious sentiments should enjoy the Nigeria they are creating.

Just knowing how and where to strike is all NDA needs for now.

I think the NDA should adopt asymmetric warfare tactics.
Until it is armed enough to confront NA head-on.

Now they will be better served using small ambushes and IEDs. But powerful IED strong enough to take out a gun boat or tank. So they should learn how to do it with artillery shells.
