If you are good at what you do and you are ready to work hard and compete with the world's best then you can't go wrong with the united states of a....mbition. And it won't be just your career that would benefit from the move, but your "overall" well being. However, if you're comfortable with the middling medicority that Nigeria is today and in 100 years, in not just what comes to you at the end of the month, but in those other aspects of life--access to decent healthcare, affordable housing, constant power for example-- areas that you have no control/influence over, it's your call to make...

Afam4eva: Pls why's Chelsea and Arsenal seeded alongside the big boys?
There's a point system whereby uefa acrues ur perfomance over the recent five years, u'll argue that chelsea has bn more succesful than manutd over the past five years and fittingly deserve their position in third.

TV/Movies / Re: Big Brother Africa: How Multichoice/dstv Is Under-developing Africa by orgasticdance: 4:02am On Aug 21, 2013
GraphicsPlus: President Barack Obama recently decried the “change in culture” that has altered what he called the view of the American Dream. He took a swipe at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West for being the poster boy and girl respectively of this damaging culture.

He could as well have been speaking for Nigerians, nay Africans. The African society is increasingly under assault as we make advances in modernity. This is fueled by the increasingly corrupt pop culture which is heavily influenced by the mass media. The pervasiveness of these collection of ideas can be seen all around as it permeates the everyday lives of the society. It has brought with it a certain superficiality, consumerism and sensationalism.

This can be seen in that decadent show that seems to have captured the imagination of not just the young but also the elderly. The exhibition of licentiousness going on in that house of shame called Big Brother Africa is more than a source of concern, it is the repudiation of morality and sanity in the name of modernity and it is being thumbed in our noses by Multichoice; an agency of western imperialism.

Reality television shows present unscripted situations, peopled by unprofessional actors, depending on the genre. But what does the Big brother genre of reality television want to impart to Africans?

The answer is perversion. The show has unleashed perversion at a level that will be very difficult to erase. It is damaging the scant morality we still subscribe to in a terribly debased world.

Big Brother was popularized by George Orwell’s novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four. But this is not the Big Brother he was talking about when he wrote that book. The term “Big Brother” was the lexicon for abuse of government power, particularly in respect to civil liberties, often specifically related to mass surveillance.

Im calling BS on this. Barack Obama whom you quote is president of an 11 trillion dollar economy, an economy built on the free enterprise system--which has created industries like Silicon Valley, Detroit and Big Oil but has also given us sex-laden hollywood and good ol po-rn (a billion+ dollar industry ) You can moralize all you want, but we live in a free world, not the Dystopian world of mind control freaks which George Orwell depicted in his novel 1984 and which ironically, you're espousing in your preachy think piece undecided

To bring Africa into the argument would be a stretch undecided Europe is not even innovating, relatively speaking. American websites dominate in europe(Facebook, Google, Youtube, Gmail, Yahoo) . Europeans are big laggards on this score, but chinese social network sites eg Renren(+100m reg users comp to nairalands measly 1m undecided) and Baidu etc are not doing bad in china. The US of Ambition, the innovation juggernaut, is eating everyone else's lunch cept China's.

Has Jonathan and the so called Aganga created opportunities for the young ones to think of problem solving inventions? NO!!! They are more preoccupied with the several problems facing Nigeria - light, roads, insecurity, ASUU strike etc...The FG should be an inspiration to Nigerians and not Jessica...Jessica grew up in the United States, all our youths can't go to the US in order to live out their full potentials...the should have same opportunity in Nigeria too!

babe,
leave matter, a top coy gave me a job two years before i was even ready to work. it wasn't god, but excellence and hard work that got me the job! i know i am in the minority so thrs nothing to celebrate or be grateful abt becos a coy picked me and two others over 1000 people. y wont u ask god to make tins work so people can run their businesses witout paying for fuel and diesel at neck breaking rates? ur just being selfish tinking abt u and ur family. dis economy is in the pits, its not a god tin, yes one or two people will be lucky but the vast majority will be left chasing shadows. its not rocket science, an economy wit zero industrial base/growth in ten+ years can't produce jobs; even if u and all ur relatives get jobs tomorow, it doesnt mean tins are improving, keep ur testimonies to urselves abegsad angry

imuselee: It all about patience and faith...Gods time is the best...Though mine was just 4 months after my service...donth ever Give up
this is the sort of advice that irks me. its not about patience or gods time. this environment is skrewed up from the bottom up. a company declares a vakancy for ten people and 100,000 people apply and u say its about patience/gods time?? this economy is in the pits and is not churning enough jobs for its young people, period!! no amount of patience or faith will give ten percent of young nigerians decent jobs in the next forseeable future! my advice, if u don't have the wherewithal to create ur own job, there are more than a 101+ other countries in the world where ur skills and talents will be utiliized rather than frittering your most productive years in a rergessive and backward environment angry

No. Throwing money at a problem will never get you a solution. the whole naija eductaional system has to be revamped from the bottom up. Even if you give ASUU 1 trillion dollars, it won't address the core issues bedeviling the system.
