Hi fellow unilag aspirants, i also witnessed unilag admission exercise last year. For me it was an ordeal too.
Scored 235 and 65 respectively in the jamb and p-utme, an aggregate of 61.88 but was denied for a 1.68 difference.
I pray this year's favours!

olaezebala: Blame the candidates for the mass failure. I have two case studies that made me conclude as such. My older brother, who finished his first degree more than ten years ago but wanna do law and my young cousin (first timer). My brother is always reading @ every available time and space (jamb past questions and answer is always in his car), he checked his result and he had a 253. My sure cousin tried also has he claimed there is a study group they formed on BBM and also on whatsapp, always with his phone,reading textbooks with his BB at hand to respond to every message that dropped in. He checked his result and there is it, 167. Thou some will cheat and pass very well too oooooo. So blame the candidates that failed for not preparing well enough to pass jamb and since they know they didn't prepare, they didn't cheat as well.
you're a person!
Your brother given 253 was only lucky to have been favoured by this random score of a thing. So, he's not better than the other with 167 if truly he used his phone for e-study. Afterall, the internet is the best source of modern knowledge and advanced learning, don't just rely on outdated books.

EducationRe: Online Economics Questions On Jamb, Pume And Any Examination by Ortarico(m):
Good morning room.

In addition, using the common sense or layman's, how would a minimum fixed price still fall again?

Or let's view it this way which we are all familiar with; JAMB releases cut-off marks and says the "minimum" cut-off (that is also the word they use) for universities is 180 and polytechnics 160, would all universities still lower theirs to 160, and polytechnics 140? Can't some universities make theirs 200 even according to courses applied to and polytechnics 180huh

Pls you too should answer this, so in this case here JAMB acts as the "government" and tertiary institutions the "producers". . . . .sefini

Odunhana: Nawa ooo So, non of you know that Govt will still come back and bring the price down when minimum price is fixed...

One of you three shud answer all these questions and if all ur answers are YES, then i don't want any argument again.

1) Pls What happen When Govt Fix Minimum price?

2) Will there be Excess supply and Decrease in Demand?

3) what will the govt do when minimum price is fixed and Consumers and unwilling to Buy leading to decrease in Demand and excess supply?

Pls anybody who can answer all these should then come back and argue.
1. Increase in price and supply
2. Likely, depends on the nature of goods
3. Tendency of haggling or government maximises it
EducationRe: Online Economics Questions On Jamb, Pume And Any Examination by Ortarico(m): 8:53pm On Apr 19, 2013
Odunhana: ow i don't want to argue tonight... Bt lemme do dis.... What is the reason for MAXIMUM price legislation? And why is it that the GOVT consider fixing MINIMUM PRICE and INTERCHANGE to MAXIMUM PRICE when necessary? If u can aswer that i will then proceed with my explanation.
Mr, fixing the minimum and maximum prices is a direct and conscious effort of the government in price control as we all know. . . So, it's nothing to do with the forces of demand and supply.

The idea of fixing it on the minimum is to protect producers esp Agric producers from the income fluctuation brought about by poor harvest. Therefore, when this is done, every producer can raise or increase his price above this level since it's the limit at minimum therefore there's the tendency of an increase in price.

When we view the maximum price on the other hand is directly to now protect consumers against exploitation by producers, which limits the further increase in price and to control inflation.
The producer is therefore not allowed to sell above this limit and he decides whether to sell at this price or below.
EducationRe: Online Economics Questions On Jamb, Pume And Any Examination by Ortarico(m): 8:20pm On Apr 19, 2013
Adex097: bros, i think its better you change that. Number (2) answer with an immediate effect because such question ain't worthy enough to cause an argument....if government fixes the price of a commodity either above or below the equilibrium , every force of demand and supply won't be applicable anymore. The consumers are compelled to buy such commodity at the fixed price. Government intervention in price fixing artificially kills the natural forces of demand and supply aka the invisible hand....so please minimum price legislation brings about an increment in price.
Odunhana: wetin i do now?
This was exactly what I wanted to challenge

Odunhana: It is true u might be confused... But, when in a case like this...

This question is analysed using set of numbers and not with the use of GRAPH...and the point of note is dat it is Decreasing that is correct since the question is analysed based on set of numbers. That at a point where Output is Zero, TFC and TC are equal.. And that AFC is decreasing.....But if there is no decreasing, that is when u can choose falling.....
bros, wot if a graph is shown to depict this and both words are optioned?

2)Resolve 3/y^2+y-2 into partial fractions

A. 1/y-1 - 1/y+2
B. 1/y+2 + 1/y-1
C. 1/y+1 - 1/y-2
D. 1/y-2 + 1/y+1

Solution:
3/y^2+y-2= A/(y-1) + B/(y+2)
Multiply both sides with (y-1)(y+2)
3=A(y+2) + B(y-1)
If y=-2
3=B(-2-1)
3=B(-3)
3=-3B
B=3/-3
B=-1
If y=-1
3=A(1+2)
3=3A
A=3/3
A=1

.'. A/(y-1) + B/(y+2)
= 1/y-1 + (-1/(y+2) )
= 1/y-1 - 1/y+2 (A)
