choi, Let's Go There (LGT)...

1
first term:
a+a=3
a= 3/2

second term:
ar+a+d= 3/2
ar+a= 3/2 - d
multiplyn thru by 2:
2a (r+1)= 3-2d
but a= 3/2;
simplifyn gives:
3+3r= 3 - 2d
3r= -2d
d= -3r/2.....

3rd term gives:
a+2d+ar2= 6
simplifyn givs. . .
a(1+r2)= 6-2d
giving 3/2(1+r2)= 6-2d
reduce by multiplyn thru by 2. . .
3r2= 9 - 4d
but d= -3r/2
substitutn givs 3r2-6r-9=0
r2 - 2r - 3=0
r=3 or -1....but r=3 since term r is positive, hence a=3/2, r=3 and d=-9/2

hence d sum of their 5th term;
==> a+4d+ar4= 122

Afritop: I HAVE MODIFIED THE QUESTION IN MOBILE AND DECIMAL FORM. So the time he takes for the double journey is 6.25hrs OR 6 WHOLE NUMBER 1 OVER 4. The question is from new general mathematics SS1 EDITION on exercise 6D QUESTION 18
Oh! Oh!! Oh!!! Now I get you bro. I thought you meant for each of the journey he cycled at different speeds the same time of 6 1/4hrs or 6hrs 15mins. . .

Let the distance be x since we're looking for the distance covered. .

Time taken for both journeys= d/s + d/s

6 1/4= x/18 + x/12
L.C.M is 216 and 6 1/4 is 25/4:

25/4= 12x + 18x/216:
Cross multiply; it bcoms:

48x + 72x =5,400
120x=5,400

x = 45

Therefore the total distance covered = 2(x)
2(45) = 90km

To check: 45/18 + 45/12 = 2.5 + 3.75 = 6.25 or 6 1/4. . . .That is the time taken at 18km/h is 2.5hrs and at 12km/h is 3.75hrs

Yes bruv, also thought alike.
I did last year; scored 65 in p-utme, 235 in jamb and aggregatd 61.88.
The merit cut-off was 68.13 and for my catchment Ogun was 63.50, 1.63 marks difference. If I had known I would have claimed Lagos 59.75. . .

Afritop: QUESTION: A man cycles to a village at 18km per hour and returns at 12 Km per hour. If he takes 6¼ hours for the double journey, how far does he ride altogether?
NOTE: ANSWER TO THE QUESTION IS 90KM BUT I DON’T KNOW HOW TO SHOW THE WORKINGS TO THE ANSWER. I NEED PROOF IF 90KM IS REALLY THE ANSWER
Bro the question itself contradicts. As in how can one journey at different km/h but destinates at the same time? Wetin im dey do for road wey im speed at 12km/h and still got there in 6hrs 15 mins, abi e branch canteen?

acidtalk: What in Heaven's name is This Country Nigeria turning into?

If this so called House of Representative members have nothing to do, can they just close that chambers, give the keys to Tambuwwal to continue globe trotting with rotimi Ameachi in his private jet. This whole thing is making a mockery of this country.

Is it the Head of Jamb the House of Representative are meant to summon on the Dullards who have nothing in their heads and their parents who no longer scold them to go and read.

The educational standard as so gone down the drain that even a day to exams, students will have heavy ear phones in their ears (they call DRE abi shey na Snoppy) listening to some immoral meaningless songs being sang by all the so called illiterate wanna be dropouts.

Nothing in Nigeria is improving anymore, everything seems to be nose diving, from morals, to spiritual life, educational standard, respect, conscience, trust, hardwork, humility, honesty......

Tambuwwal tell your boys to face more pressing issues rather than blaming an innocent man and his team for marking genuinely without bias what those useless dullards tick in the exam sheet.

Well, I don't blame dem sef. Afterall the thief that called himself Farouk Lawan was the chairman Committee on Education. They are looking for ways to siphone bribe from the Budget given to Jamb this year.

Students : if una dare insult me, na the person wey dey the oldest picture for una house una dey talk to.

Olodo bunch of students in a dead nation. Like Olodo Students like their Dumb President.

JAMB itself hasn't announce its official cut-off marks talk-less of other autonomous institutions.
The Jamb cut-off you guyz are spreading all over is last year's. So, don't be surprised to see these fed. Unis that don't put theirs below 200 do so this year.

Guy, it's totally not as you think.
Those that scored 300 and above were given their right score as per centre performance and conduct. A centre where there was a lower case of malpractise tends scripts to be marked and awarded accordinly while a centre where there was high or higher malpractise tends scripts to be marked with a negative or deducting guide thereby making results awarded the other way.
So, the guyz who scored these were lucky and had a good centre. Most centres were guilty of this and affected the evaluation of the innocents.

Chemistry= 0
Physics= 05
Maths= 0
Aggregate= 05

I pity the poor guy cause what can he do with that. Oh, no wonder the board gave an interval of 1-159 in its statistics!!
My God and my Lord, what's the fate of this dude? What univ'll accept his given score? Does the univ of B-K-H-R-M exists that would grant him admissn to the dept of EXPLOSIVES and FIRE-CRACKERShuh
So much Pity the guy.
I think Jamb was lazy this year and bought random scorer machines and sold the existing ones to FIFA

It is rather shameful that most of you who failed jamb have stayed on this topic all day trying to console your failure. It was a bad read when your results were being dropped. It's even more pathetic your responses to failure.
You're a person!

No wonder people like you are in support of injustice and unfair treatment.
