doubledx and Ortarico. Am waiting for you guys to make a contribution.
I'm so sorry bruv, the best of my knowledge on matrices is scalars's. Like I said in one of my posts that I'm an aspirant and green on some further topics. I really hate it when summoned on things like this but can't be of help. Lookin' forward to attaining a Guru's rank anyway. Thanks to one of my Ogas at the top for helpin' you at last!

@estilo dis's d solution to 2B, maybe i'll see to the rest later cause of d inconvenience in typing, i'm on mobile. . . . .

2B) Solution

first of all find d Mean (M) and d standard deviation (SD) of set A&B. . .

M of A

~x= 2+3+1+4+5+6+7+25+9+8 all over 10

~x= 70/10

=>> 7

SD of A

_/Ef(x-~x)^2/Ef= _/[(2-7)^2 + (3-7)^2 + (1-7)^2 + (4-7)^2 + (5-7)^2 + (6-7)^2 + (7-7)^2 + (25-7)^2 + (9-7)^2 + (8-7)^2] / 10

= _/25 + 16 + 36 + 9 + 4 +1 + 0 + 324 + 4 + 1 / 10

= _/420/10

= _/42

= 6.48

pls, follow the steps above to find d M&SD of B which is 41 and 5.46 respectively, u can question if confused. . . .

Finally, look for the Coefficient of Variation (CV) of A&B respectively. . . . .

CV of A= 6.48/7
=>> 0.9259

CV of B= 5.46/41
=>> 0.1329

:. From the CVs of A&B, we can deduce that A is more widely dispersed than the data B
. . . . . . Answer

doubleDx: Solution

Since equation (1) and (2) are related by "t", elimating "t" by sustitution gives us (y) in terms of (x), making it easier to compute for the second derivative ( d^2y/dx^2) of the equation with respect to x.

y = cos^2t ......(1)
x = sin^2t ......(2)

We know that sin^2t + cos^2t = 1
:. cos^2t = 1 - sin^2t , subtituting this in equation (1) yields=>
y = 1 - sin^2t.....(3)
From equation (2), sin^2t = x
Substituting the above in (3) yields=>
y = 1 - x
Differentiating yields=>
dy/dx = -1
Differentiating again yields =>
d^2y/dx^2 = 0

@Ortarico, nice work!

estilo: Good mowin house,

Pls help me to solve dis questions.

@ ortarico, tenks for yesterday.
Sorry for yesterday's unfinished task, my phone went off. . .

Q1) Solution

i). It's a case of selecting without replacement.
Let B nd G denote d boi nd d gurl respectivly:
Pr of selectng d 1st boy= 20/36

Pr of selectng d 2nd boi= 19/34

Pr of selectn d 3rd pesn which is a girl= 13/34

Now, Pr(2BG)= 20/36 * 19/35 * 13/34

=>> 247/2142. . . . .ans

ii). Pr(B,G,B)

=>> 20/36 * 16/35 * 19/34= 152/1071. . . . .ans

iii). Pr(BGB) or Pr(GBG)

=>> [20/36 * 16/35 * 19/34] + [16/36 * 20/35 * 17/34]

=>> 152/1071 + 136/1071= 288/1071. . . . .ans

@ my place of work, can't do the rest as at now. . .

C). Solution

A,B,C re mutually exc events, dat minz dey don't occur seperatly. . .

dear4; pr(BuC)= Pr(B) + Pr(C)= 2/3

pr(AuC)= Pr(A) + Pr(C)= 3/5

substract pr(AuC) from pr(BuC):
=> 2/3 - 3/5= 1/15

but pr(A) + pr(B) + pr(C)= 1

to get d pr(C), first of all get pr(A) or pr(C)

:Pr(A)= 1 - Pr(BuC)
=>> 1 - 2/3= 1/3
pr(A) is 1/3

Den substit it in pr(AuC) and recall dat Pr(AuC) is 3/5

Pr(AuC)= Pr(A) + Pr(C)
3/5= 1/3 + C

3/5 - 1/3= C

C= 4/15. . . .ans

To check:

pr(AuC)= 1/3 + 4/15
pr(AuC)= 9/15
pr(AuC)= 3/5

pr(Y)= 2/3
pr(Z)= 1/2

prob of unsuccessful targets:
pr(X')= 4/5
pr(Y')= 1/3
pr(Z')= 1/2

i). Sins d 3 events re independnt, Let U= {event dat 1 man hits d target}, note alxo leta "n" rep "intersectn". . . .
Pr(U)= {XnY'nZ'} + {X'nYnZ'} + {X'nY'Z}

U= 1/30 + 8/30 + 4/30

U= 13/30 ans. . .

ii). Pr dat d 1st man hit d target givn dat only 1 man hit d target:

Let d event dat only d 1st man hit d target b:
pr(XnU)= Pr(XnY'Z')

==> 1/5*1/3*1/2= 1/30. . .

And pr(U)= 13/30

there4; pr(X/U)= Pr(XnU)/Pr(U)

==> 1/30 / 13/30

estilo: Q3)A a student scores the following marks in his first year: maths- 62%,Physics-49%.Engineering-72%,English Lang-35%,social studies-21%. If the credit loaded attached to each of the courses are 4,5,4,3 and 1 respectively. Determine the student's average grade.

(B) three men shot at a target. The probabilities that the three men can hit the target are respectively 1/5,2/3,and 1/2. Find the probability that: (1)exactly one of them hit the target (11) if only one hits the target,then it was the first.

(C) A,B,C are three mutually exclusive events,one of which is bound to occur. The probability that either B or C occurs is 2/3 and the probability that either A or C occur is 3/5. Find the probability of C occuring.

Thanks
^^ ma'am, though your questions are much, i'd try helping. . . .

Q3) solution:
first of all, multiply each of the courses mark by its credit load:

Maths= 62*4= 248
Physics= 49*5= 245
Engineering= 72*4= 288
Eng lan= 35*3= 105
Sos std= 21*1= 21

Add all the credit load
==> 4+5+4+3+1= 17

Average grade:
248+245+288+105+21 all over 17
=> 907/17= 53.35%
~53.4%

Hmmm. . . .many of you guyz might be wondering why this dude has chosen to correct spelling mistakes on this thread and made no comments on the topic. You're right!

Why I choose to be indifferent is because of some schadenfreudes that make jest of us. They say; 'Look at these Olodos protesting against the results JAMB meritoriously awarded them. . . .they can't even speak nor write well in good english than to make blunders and often mis-spell, I laugh in Use of English type I' and many more.....
Therefore, It's high time we checked or modified our mistakes to put an end to it.

JAMB frustrates! How could you same score my ability in three subjects: 53, 53, 53 and 50? I'm not saying it's impossible either but I doubt it in respect to my competency cause i'm yet to recover from the shock!!
On coming back from my exam centre on the 27th, I pretended to be despondent in order to surprise my cousins who were sceptical about me making a 270+ in the end. Now everything
has just coincide.
Yes, i'm still shocked but what can I do than accept my fate and also thank God my case differs from others. It's much more hilariously funny of the apprentice learning tailoring opposite my house to have four twelves in his fours. Can you see how the board has automatically added a year to the period of his apprenticeship! Another dude fainted on seeing his 005 aggregate. A lot of saga has been recorded, even the guy that wrote this still feels blue.

substituting into the sum of the 5th term (a+4d+ar4) gives:

3/2 + 4(-9/2) + 3/2(3)^4

: 3/2 + 4 * -9/2 + 3/2 * 81

: 3/2 - 18/1 + 243/2

@Onioshine, solved it correctly! It's just that the answer is 129 and NOT 122==>>

The common ratio of the GP, r = 3 since the GP is positive

Since 2d = -3r, Then the corresponding common difference of the AP, d = -9/2.

Sum of their 5th terms is =>
GP 5th term=> ar^4
AP 5th term=> a + 4d

Sum of 5th terms of both series = ar^4 + a + 4d.
Substituting r, d and a for =>>
r = 3, d = -9/2 and a = 3/2,
The sum of their 5th terms yields =>

= ar^4 + a + 4d
= (3/2)(3)^4 + 3/2 + 4(3/2)
= 243/2 + 3/2 + 6
= 258/2
= 129

Hence the sum of the series 5th terms is 129.
