Ezniteadin:
Have you been to the Murtala Muhammad international Airport lately?

It is the most crowded Airport in my experiences, the prying eyes and busybodies waiting to latch on to your purse forcefully by all gimmicks

They beggarly initiate all method of trickery to collect bribe from travelers

The lack of CCTV surveillance camera is one major reason the attending offices are the more brazen,

they practically beg for money and threaten you if you refuse to grease their corrupt palms

You wonder why Government workers are so bold to Beg for money in an international airport

They search your Bags with bare hands and look for what is not lost, whereas other countries of the world would pass your bags through a search machine to spot items not fit for travel

Nigerian Airport workers practically search your bag in attempts to find anything for which they can collect bribe from you even your underwaer

I am just wondering, Any Nairalander who have experienced this brazen thievery by employed and unemployed loiters at the Airport

The Nigerian government is pretending and acting as if bribe does not happen at the airport Or else, something should have been done to stem this shameful acts of international embarrassment

what is your story at the airport ?
its so sad that the beggarly nature of Nigerians is exhibited each time I am at that airport and indeed all the airports in Nigeria. Its so shameful. They beg like they are not paid salary for their work at the airports. I was so embarrassed that I had to give then some money last Saturday that I got in. Its so sad. All my colleague complained of the same experience and u feel government should do something about this bad attitude of our airport staff. Its appauling and totally demeaning. Shame to Buhari and his hunger infested gvt

Christianity Etc › Re: Sierra Leone Mudslide: Oydepo Visits Sierra Leone President,Give Them Foodstuffs by oruma19: 11:16pm On Aug 18, 2017
broseme:
Following the devastations caused by flooding and mudslides on the outskirts of Freetown at the beginning of this week, President Ernest Bai Koroma continues to receive not only condolence messages but also high powered delegations from countries across the sub-region and beyond.

This morning, Friday 18 August, the president received at State House a high level delegation led by Bishop David Oyedepo of World Mission Agency commonly called Winner’s Chapel. According to Bishop Oyedepo, the visit was to console and pray for Sierra Leone following Monday’s tragedy. He prayed that such predicament would not repeat itself in the nation and that there would be a turn around.

For victims of the flooding and mudslides, Bishop Oyedepo pledged assistance of food items and general provisions, including 250 bags of rice, 250 liters of vegetable oil, 250 bags of onions, 250 blankets, clothing, washing soap among others.

President Koroma thanked the Bishop for his quick response, describing the visit as a source of great hope. He lamented about the incident, narrating that a particular church was observing all-night prayers when the unimaginable and unprecedented tragedy occurred, and consequently claimed hundreds of lives. He also bemoaned the story of six innocent children who went to study in the home of one of their brightest colleagues, and the young man who was due to get married today, saying that they all had their plans for the next day but were swept away from their sleep onto untimely deaths.

The president pointed out that Sierra Leone’s economy was apparently doing well when Ebola struck and reversed every gain. Even though the country is faced with another huge challenge in the aftermath of a successful recovery process, he however expressed hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Marioplus:
Parents Gone Wild: Bleaching Children's Skin:
by Oluseye Igbafe
I heard about this for the first time a year ago at the birthday party of a friend's child. One of our mutual friends walked up to me and after pleasantries, said to me:

“Sis, your daughter is very pretty oh.”
“Thanks”, I replied.
"What cream do you use for her?” She asked
"Cream?! I use Johnson Baby lotion."
"Only?! What do you use to bring out her colour?” she persisted.
“I don’t really understand you,” I answered her, “What colour am I bringing out?”
"No oh, you should use something that will bring out her colour. Don’t you know she will be prettier (sic) if she has fair skin?”

I cringed inwardly. All the while, I had struggled to believe she couldn’t possibly be saying what I thought she was saying.
“You mean I should start bleaching her skin? At what age and why would I do such a crazy thing?! It’s not necessary my dear,” I answered her firmly.
"It is oh my big sister. Especially for a girl but not bleaching; haba, not even toning! It’s just to bring out her colour oh and it’s not a sin," she said. "Even you should bring out your colour more,” she added.

I swallowed my raging retorts and simply said, “I hope you don’t do that for your son? He is way too small to have anything being rubbed on him. I beg of you."
*Well, since he is naturally fair-skinned, I am just maintaining it, I have been mixing his cream with Movate since he was born,” she replied
I was unable to dissuade her before we got interrupted and I eventually forgot about the conversation. Till about 2 weeks ago.
I walked into a supermarket and saw a heavily bleached woman with three beautiful girls who were looking “toned”. Their faces were conspicuously lighter than the rest of their body and their knees and knuckles were quite dark. Their ages ranged from age 10 to possibly 5.

I then decided to research the concept of parents bleaching their kids and what I found out is that there is indeed a craze for fair-skinned children; and many parents are turning their dark skinned children to fair-skinned. They claim they are helping their kids maintain their “natural skin colour”.

A lady told me it’s not bleaching or toning if it’s done with natural products. She uses Shea butter, Turmeric, Lime/Lemon, Camphor etc. to prepare “natural” soap for her daughter. Another lady recommends mixing their creams with hydrocortisone or clomatrizole creams for a “clear” smooth skin. I was simply shocked.
First, I think this generation has totally gone bunkers with vanity. No, this isn’t vanity, its shallowness of the highest order. I wrote a post last year on Sexualization of Children and though it went viral, I can assure you we are getting worse.

Why does your child need to be fair to be beautiful? What is the correlation? Where did that concept come from? What happened to Black is Beautiful? I believe every child is beautiful and even then the very beautiful ones are not just beautiful because of their skin tone but their facial structure and features.
Secondly, it’s way too early to start enhancing your child’s features to promote beauty. Children should have no vanity issues. Again I say, allow them to be children and do not give them self-esteem issues by acting as though they are not beautiful enough. Tell your children, they are beautiful irrespective of their skin colour or tone. If you as a parent can’t accept them for who they are or what skin tone they have, how do you expect them to grow into confident women who value themselves?

Lastly, do you have any idea the possible side-effects these creams will have on their skin? Rubbing chemicals on their skin for years could possibly be setting them up for skin cancer. I mean, a lot of those creams contain Mercury and hydrocortisone which have been linked to cancer even in adults.
And please do not hide behind, “I only use natural stuff so it’s harmless”. Are those things meant to be rubbed into the skin? Is Turmeric meant to be rubbed into the skin every day? Lime and lemons are acidic and will definitely have their own effect. Camphor?

I know Shea butter is good but your motive should be just to Oil or moisturize their skin to prevent it from dryness. If there is a vanity aim to your “natural method” then you are part of the problem.

Leave your child’s skin alone. Don’t set him or her up for future problems due to your own narrow view of beauty. Personally, I believe parents who bleach or tone their child’s skin should be arrested and prosecuted. It is the height of irresponsibility.

Let’s allow children to be children. Let them know whether they black, brown, yellow or white, they are all beautiful.
Vanity upon vanity, all is vanity. Nigerians are mostly vain people filled with so much inferiority complex as such wanting to be like "Yankee" pple by every means including bleaching and change of accent. Most ladies speak from their nostril instead of the mouth these days, all in a bid to "tweet" like the americans. Shm!

Beress:
Buhari has complied with the constitution — Presidency

By Gabriel Ewepu

ABUJA— NINETY days after he left the country to treat an undisclosed ailment, a coalition of Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, yesterday, laid siege to the Presidential Villa, asking that President Muhammadu Buhari either resumes or resigns from office.

The Presidency in a sharp reaction dismissed the demand, saying the president fulfilled constitutional demands on him before his medical vacation, adding that the government is focused on its agenda of fighting corruption, insurgency and fixing the economy.

The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, also in a seeming rebuff to the demands said the president cannot be substituted on the claim that his absence has not undermined the efficacy of government.

The protesters under the aegis of Concerned Nigerians and “Our Mumu Don Do” Advocacy, who marched from Unity Fountain near the Transcorp Hilton Hotel to the gate of Presidential Villa, where they made their demands, but were not allowed access by security agents.
The protesters were led by musician, Charles Oputa (Charlie Boy) and Deji Adeyanju.

They lamented that for over 90 days President Buhari left and lived outside the country leaving room for persons they referred to as unelected individuals to manipulate the institutions of state.
They also accused his aides and associates of stage managing Buhari’s health status and failing to open up to Nigerians to the true situation with the president.

Speaking yesterday, Adeyanju said: “The President cannot continue to remain in London infinitum, and Osinbajo cannot continue infinitum as Acting President.
“They are holding the country to ransom, it is not by force to remain a President, it is time to invoke sections 144 of the constitution. You can imagine what happened after the Anambra attack, the Cabal in Aso Rock who are bent on holding the country to ransom, bye-passed Osinbajo to issue a statement.”

On his assertion, the leader of “Our Mumu Don Do” group, Oputa, also known as Charlie Boy said he had to come out to support the youths in demanding the right thing to be done, because the future of the younger generation was bleak with the way politicians are handling the issues of governance.
Buhari has complied with the constitution—Presidency
Meanwhile, no government official from the presidency came out to address the protesters.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu in his reaction to the demand said: “The demonstration is in the exercise of their freedom under the constitution, which guarantees their right to embark on peaceful protests.
“On the second issue, demanding the President’s return or resignation or certain explanations, I would say that they have over-stepped their bounds.

“The President has complied 100 percent with the constitution by handing over power to the Vice-President before proceeding on his vacation. He has not breached any law or the constitution by staying away from office to take care of his health.
“Equally, there is nothing like a power vacuum in the country given the competence and general harmony with which the whole government is running.
“Any such calls as being made by this or any other group represent an irrational assault on the constitution and should be ignored by well-meaning members of the public.

There can’t be a substitute for Buhari —Lai Mohammed
Meanwhile, Alhaji Mohammed has insisted that there can be no substitute for President Buhari.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the minister said though the president is being missed, he said the country has remained in steady hands.

Mohammed said: “There is no doubt that we miss the president but I think the government has been functioning very well.
“There can’t be a substitute for the president, no doubt but I don’t think it has gotten to any stage whereby we find the kind of acrimony, agitations that are coming up.”

“It is normal for anybody to be ill. When somebody is ill, there are certain things he cannot do, but we thank God that Mr. President is improving and he will come back very soon.
“The important thing is that government has been working. We have not missed one single federal executive council meeting since he left.

“Also, we have not missed one single national economic council meeting. Whatever needs to be done is being done because there are serious consultations between the Acting president and Mr. President and as such, I don’t see the hoopla about Mr. President being away.

this tithe issue is what will finally cripple the kind of christianity we practice in Nigeria. i have always been against it. tithe payment is the reason we have dissidents, disgruntled elements all over the country in the guise of GOs who go about fleecing their mumu members. their is no fear of God in the land again because people now go to church to "sow" whatever kind of "seed" as they are told and in return expect the returns from whatever means including " ritual killings, drug war, 419, olosho.com, any way is a way, and all sorts of vices. no more righteousness, no more holiness, no more true worship, its all about tithes and offerings. i am still awaiting the so called MOG that will take money from me in the name of tithe. please no one should get it twisted, i love God and give to the work of ministry to grow evangelism but i will never fall to the "tithe doctrine". that one has passed with the resurrection of Christ from the dead and therefore we have a new covenant. tithe collectors never had houses, schools, lands, jets, and all sorts of properties. our present day "priests" need to go back to God and repent.( i wonder if they really believe in the heaven they preach)because if they do, why accumulate so much on earth? are u acculating these wealths for the JW to inherit? lolzz. Onochie called our president a private citizen. A private citizen that is being treated in a foreign land with Nigeria's money. Let then just take all the sick private citizens abroad and treat them with government money. I raise yansh for Buhari and his appointees... Where did we go wrong to deserve all these "Dundee united" men and women as leaders?

this woman is obviously a fool....
ebubefavou:
President Buhari's media aide, Lauretta Onochie, while on interviewed on Channels TV this evening said it's not right for Nigerians to ask about the health status of the sick Nigerian President, who has been on medical vacation for over two months.

According to her, President Buhari is a private citizen and it is disrespectful for anyone to ask about his health. Here's what she said;

"For the life of me, I have no idea why anybody should disrespect another by asking for the details of their health status. As we speak, we have an acting president. As we speak, President Buhari seems to be like a private citizen at the moment. We have no right and it is very disrespectful for anyone to ask for his health status. In the UK where I came from nobody would release anybody's health record to another, not even the members of their family unless the person decides to approve.

The prerogative to speak on his ailment lies only on President Buhari. If he chooses, it is a choice. It is very disrespectful and very intrusive. We are intruding into his private rights. He has rights too as a citizen of Nigeria. It is not right, not appropriate. ANybody can get sick at any particular time".
