FLOURMILL is getting ready to break out from the 35 resistance level. It was heavily accumulated today. How else can we explain the huge volume while the price remained relatively the same? ![]() I don't know why my fair value says 68. It seems that it can still double in this market, even when people have started booking profits. Does that even make sense? ![]() |
kalkah:I know you were not referring to me, but I am a busybody nah. Full disclosure, I captured 46% of the 55% move from this year's low already. Based on my valuation of the company's 2022 financials, I believe the fair value of the stock is 18, so hopefully there is still 30% of upside potential. Technically, the OBV indicator is looking up, price broke the 10 support/resistance line, and it made a new high. The monthly bars are increasing with corresponding volume. I believe the stock is not doing badly and there is no reason to sell it. However, I would like to see how it reacts to the dividend mark down coming on Friday. Overall, I would still hold the stock, but if you are inclined to sell, watch for it to close below a negative 6%, that should be some kind of warning. ![]()

BullBearMkt:I would like to comment on AIRTELAFRI from my own point of view. The stock has been favored by investors from around June 2020 to October last year, when something changed and we started seeing pockets of sell-off on the OBV chart. It has established resistance/support around 1260/1280. It seems to me that this region will be revisited a couple of times. In fact, the stock seems to have reached some sort of equilibrium with respect to earnings. If we assume that the 200-day moving average (MA) is a sign of bullishness, then I would say that AIRTELAFRI is not bullish, as it has remained below this level. Given that it peaked twice in December and once in August in the previous years, we may still see it move up. However, as I mentioned, the probability of it returning to the established resistance/support level is high unless it experiences a boost in earnings. My valuation, which puts the fair value of the stock at 1350, seems to supports my other views. And of course, I added a chart to impress some people. ![]()

BullBearMkt:Interesting analysis, good job. |
Coolcash1:I like to program in my spare time and setup is done once, optimize once in a while. It's not stressful at all, because everything is automated. I even run my entire workflow on my mobile phone. From data updating to screening, it only takes a few minutes. These days, you can run Jupyter notebooks on your mobile phone. I just need to download the daily price list that Morgan sends me every day at around 3 PM. Then, with a few clicks, I'm done. If I see any interesting tickers, I can analyze them further. It's really not hard at all. That's my way shaaa. |
Coolcash1:It depends on what you are looking for. For example, if you are looking for stocks whose RSI is below 20, or stocks that have crossed the lower band of a particular channel indicator, or stocks whose MAs have just crossed, or stocks that have achieved a certain percentage in a given month or met a certain volume requirement. There is a lot of technical stuff you may want to know about as it happens. Do you start calculating each of these things for the 150 stocks you are watching? I prefer having a screener that I can run once a day after I have updated the closing prices. This will search all stocks and identify those that meet my criteria. |
Harvestock01:What happened to the entity that caused it to stop generating revenue? I am not even talking about profit. |
After that you are in, happy learning. |

Once you have selected a course, click on the blue bar with "See Enrollment Options" at the bottom. This will take you to another page where you will see several options. If you want a certificate, you will have to pay for it. If you just want to follow the lectures and learn, it is free to audit the course.
|

Once you've made a selection, you need to check if it is a specialization or a course. A specialization is a collection of courses that are designed to be taken together, in order. So, if you choose a specialization, you will also need to select the individual courses that make up the specialization.
|
Naanlong01:Let's say you want to learn Python, a very easy-to-learn programming language. Type "Python" in the search box and hit enter. You will see several courses, some of which are individual courses and some of which are specializations. Browse through them and select one that interests you.

ojeysky: ![]() Isn't 4 naira equal to 0.5 pennies based on the current exchange rate or is penny not equal to one cent again? ![]() |
ELLAHLAKES has been listed on the NGX for 3 or 4 years without generating any revenue. I didn't even know it was possible to list a company that is not generating revenue. They are involved in cassava and palm oil, and this penny stock looks like it could 5x in value once they start generating profits. But until then... ![]() |

emmanuelewumi:She can head to Amazon . com and type "books on investment and stock valuations" or any other query of her choice in the search bar. Books with high reviews, such as those with thousands of reviews and high star counts, are usually good. The other problem is to find the books in pdf or hardcopy. ![]() |
That is why I don't even value some of the quarterly financials. They are more likely to be manipulated. Caverton is an example. If you go by their first, second, third, and fourth quarter results for last year, you would be misled into believing that they made an overall profit with a positive EPS. However, the audited results showed something very different. |
essentialone:I thought that the credibility of the financial statements lies with the auditing firms. And any wayo if found will bring serious penalties to the auditors. Also, I don't understand the argument you are making when you said "on paper, everything seems well" and went on to quote the same financial statements with assets as 510 billion and liabilities as 785 billion. Isn't that a negative 275 billion in equity? |
kolaish:Here are the key points of the article: 1. The naira has depreciated significantly in recent years, which has reduced the capital adequacy of commercial banks. 2. Some analysts believe that the new capital requirement for commercial banks could be as high as N100 billion. 3. The banking industry has been preparing for this eventuality, and many banks have already raised their capital. 4. However, there are still some banks that are struggling with capital issues. 5. The new CBN governor will have to decide whether to force these banks to recapitalize or to allow them to continue operating with negative capital. 6. Prof Uche Uwaleke, an economist and professor of capital market, kicked against regulatory induced recapitalization of banks. 7. He said there are other workable options, such as mergers and acquisition or via the stock market. 8. He said the argument for banks recapitalization is like saying the country’s GDP should be rebased simply because of the naira devaluation. 9. He said the CBN can use incentives to encourage banks to recapitalize. |
Afromentalist:I am sure you would not take financial advice from someone who has never had any financial breakthrough. Similarly, you cannot make any credible statements about technical analysis (TA) because you have never practiced it. If someone like BBM comes here and says TA is "shìt" after using it for years, then we should listen. This is simple logic. Simply reading about something does not make you an expert in it; you must practice it or you will be left with an illusion of knowledge, which can be even more dangerous. By the way, Jim Simons was a very successful technical trader even before he started Renaissance. There are many biographies about him on the internet. Thank you. ![]() |

Afromentalist: ![]() To go from 100k to 25 million is a 250-fold increase. To achieve this, you would need to compound 100% annually for 8 years. That is greatness! ![]() |
Agbalowomeri:I am also interested in learning about simpler, profitable trading strategies. I already use a buy-and-hold strategy with some stocks, so it doesn't count. |
Agbalowomeri:That's why I leverage my Python skills. My Python scripts do the heavy lifting for me, so I only need to consider the tickers that it spits out and decide whether to allocate or not. ![]() |

emmanuelewumi:It is hard, I know, but I believe that stocks do not just move randomly; they give signals ahead of their movements. If you can decode these signals, you will be correct 70% or more of the time. There will be times when the signal is incorrect, and you will enter a trade that loses money. This is where good money management comes in. You need to have a plan for how much you are willing to risk on each trade, and you need to stick to that plan. In addition to decoding signals, you also need to have a way to look for signals for all the stocks at once in parallel. This is where a stock screener comes in. A stock screener is a tool that allows you to filter stocks based on a variety of criteria, such as price, technical indicators. By using a stock screener, you can quickly identify stocks that are showing potential trading signals. Then, you need to do your due diligence before entering any trade. This means understanding the stock's financials to some extent. |
emmanuelewumi:Trading can be very profitable, even on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX). I have posted evidence of this here before. Every single year since 2012, there have been more than five stocks that have returned over 100%. If my memory serves me correctly, I will check my previous post to confirm. Patience, good screening, and good money management can yield at least 30% to 50% returns every year on the NGX through trading. However, capital also matters. I believe that anything more than 5 to 10 million naira will limit the number of trading opportunities available. There is not much liquidity in many stocks. I think I am doing well for my self, but not significantly. I know that I will get there with continuous refinement and experience. |
emmanuelewumi:My own na to do the math. If we assume that an investor puts down an additional #200,000 at the beginning of each year and reinvests the returns at a 10% annual rate, the first #200,000 will be worth #835,000 by the end of the 15th year. The second #200,000 will be worth #759,000, and so on. The total value of all the investments after 15 years will be #6.98994 million. But 15 years far sha. ![]()
