West Africa had many empires... ofcoz it might be due to population density... we have greater history than east and southern Africa. |

lekkie073: guy, I very been to bole international airport Addis Ababa countless times and I can tell u there is nothing there DAT beats MMA international wing , Ikeja. their airline is d best in Africa and guess what? that's where the country gets 94% of its GDP from. talking of a country DAT has only one telecoms operator. if u be been to Ethiopia, then u would have seen how thousands of Ethiopians sit in front of the airport all day, marvelling at how possible it is for other black ppl to gather enough finance to travel out of their respective countries. truth be told, they have steady power supply and good roads but overall, Addis ababa looks more like Ibadan or Abeokuta. it will be downgrading to compare it with Lagos talk less of abujaDude, there's no nigerian airport in the top ten in Africa, the same with universities and schools.. anything requiring management, nigeria doesn't do well in. That's why I say nigeria's economy would be below these countries if not for the oil. Ethiopia's airport is among the top ten in Africa. Kenya's and Tanzania's universities and schools are ranked above Nigerias, what makes Nigeria giant other oil? No Nigerian airport was listed among the best in Africa in the 2013 Skytrax World Best Airport Awards held at Passenger Terminal EXPO, Geneva, Switzerland. South African airports dominated the top 10 ranking in Africa, with Cape Town International Airport emerging the Best Airport in Africa, followed by Durban King Shaka International Airport and Johannesburg (Tambo) International Airport in 2nd and 3rd places respectively. This year’s awards, voted by airport customers from around the world, garnered 12.1 million responses. Egypt’s Cairo International Airport was ranked 4th while the 5th position went to Mauritius International Airport. East London Airport, South Africa, was placed in the 6th position; Addis Ababa Bole International Airport in Ethiopia, 7th; and Port Elizabeth Airport, South Africa in 8th position. Morocco’s Marrakech Menara International Airport and Seychelles International Airport ranked 9th and 10th respectively. South Africa also made a clean sweep of the Best Airport Staff category with Cape Town International Airport, Durban King Shaka International Airport, Johannesburg International Airport, East London Airport, and Port Elizabeth Airport occupying all the five positions. World’s best airport Singapore Changi Airport was voted the 2013 world’s best airport, the 4thtime it had claimed the top prize. The Singaporean airport toppled Incheon International Airport, South Korea, which moved to second place, to clinch the position. Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, and Beijing Capital International Airport were ranked 3rd, 4th, and 5th best in the world. “In winning this prestigious accolade, Singapore Changi cements its place as one of the world’s favourite airports and Skytrax offer their sincere congratulations on what has been a fantastic year of achievement” said Edward Plaisted, Chairman of Skytrax. “The vast array of leisure and entertainment facilities really standout at Changi and serve to highlight the extent to which the management has gone to ensure maximum levels of passenger satisfaction. “We only have to look at the fact that Changi served more than 50 million passengers for the first time during 2012, to see that it continues to attract customers and maintain its place as one of the world’s leading hub airports,” Mr. Plaisted added. Lee Seow Hiang, Chief Executive Officer, Changi Airport Group said that winning the Skytrax World’s Best Airport award again is an immense honour for Changi Airport. “It is as much a recognition of the passion of the 32,000-strong airport community that is the backbone of Changi’s collaborative and well-oiled operational processes , as it is an affirmation of our mantra in putting our passengers at the heart of all that we do,” said Mr. Hiang. Three South African airports – the only ones from Africa – were also listed anong the world’s top 100 airports, ranked 22nd, 26th, and 28th respectively. http://premiumtimesng.com/news/132216-no-nigerian-airport-among-africas-best-10.html |
lekkie073: Ethiopia 's military rated above Nigeria? I doubt it. if so, why haven't they helped maintain peace in their neighbour's territory(somalia)? Nigeria successfully established peace in Liberia and sierra Leone . and d latest being d joint effort between France and Nigeria in Mali. give me s equivalent of such success with regards to Ethiopia military..So going by your logic, Nigeria's military is greater than Egypt's since Egypt hasn't sent any peace keepers to other countries. Ethiopia's military is ranked above Nigeria's, that's a fact. Nigeria went to Liberia and sierra leone and raped over 500 000 teenage girls, they ran away from Mali due to insurgency (boko-haram) in the north. Ethiopia has world class airports, and their national airline is the best in Africa. What is world class about Nigeria? The east and southern african universities and schools are ranked higher than nigeria's. It's quite clear that without oil, Nigeria would be worse than Ethiopia. |
Why should anybody be the greatest African? The white man simply gave up colonialism and apartheid cause it was embarrassing, not that any African leader defeated them. If they want to, they can easily re-colonise Africa or reinstate apartheid, because africans are still weak. The only great Africans are those who can make Africa strong and be able to compete with the rest of the world. |
I realise that the population is more a negative cause most are illiterate and poor, 99% don't pay any tax. The oil is what makes naija a giant, without it, the north will look like somalia, and the south Ethiopia. Heck, without the oil naija would have long split. Ethiopia's military is ranked above Nigeria's, so it's not far-fetched to state that without oil naija will be like Ethiopia. |
Another top ten. |
And who told u that climate and skyscrapers is what makes a nation giant. Nigeria is giant of africa because of our population and our consuming power . And we contribute more that any other african in a any A U mission . And don't forget we are d second largest Economy in the continent .
Yes, largest population, army, oil producer and largest economy after rebasing. |
Scorpionking: I believe that the aids was created by the whites to annihilate the blacks so that they can take over the beautiful southern africa.Well, that might be the case, but from my research on Google, the migrant labour system seems to be responsible for the high hiv prevalence rate in southern Africa. Here's one link.. http://brown.edu/Administration/News_Bureau/2006-07/06-095.html |
Scorpionking: Nigeria's population is 170million and projected to reach 300million by 2025. Nigerians are sex maniacs with perverted insatiable libidoThough I agree that people are having too many babies, I also believe that the current and projected population figures are grossly exaggerated. The southern African countries have higher rapε stats, ofcoz this might be due to better law enforcement and the definition of rapε (spousal rapε is not illegal in Nigeria). Anyways, I can't find any rapε stats for most african countries including Nigeria. |
Southern Africa is also AIDS-ridden, though the transmittion rate is the lowest in Africa, meaning they've got it under control, but still... |
Damn what did west Africans do to you. By the way Europeans don't mess with west Africans because we are more aggressive, smarter, both street and book. From sports, music, movies and intellect, no part of Africa can be compare to west Africans. In Europe it is mostly west Africans dominating the sports, music, movies and top universities. The same goes for America, Canada and Australia. Yeah Southern Africa may be more developed but west Africa dominated in all areas. If we were to get our acts together no part of Africa would be compared.
Ha ha ha, quite right, but doesn't the huge population contribute to whatever advantage west Africa has? 350million vs 60million. |
Dumb negroes, arguing about whose shit smells better, its always a small elite that speaks English fluently in any country. Also there's no such thing as a Nigerian accent, traveling throughout nigeria you'll find so many different accents, this is the case with all multilingual countries. |
cap28: That figure you have quoted is grossly exaggerated and even if Mugabe did indeed kill all those people how come Britain and America said nothing at the time? How come the only time they started jumping up and down was when he started returning stolen land back to its rightful owners. By the way Mugabe's alleged crimes pale into insignificance when placed alongside the atrocities committed by the US and Europe not just in Africa but all over the world. Did you know that the Herero and Namaqua people of Namibia were wiped out in the 1920s by the germans because they refused to give up their land? I wonder why you are not up in arms about thatAnyway, you're a typical mugabe lover, too emotional and with little sense. You only love Mugabe because you feel he stood up to the west, you don't care much if at all about his many crimes. Western leaders don't give a damn that he "stood up" to them, the only people who suffered and continue to are africans. The rodesians were given free land in many African countries including Nigeria. According to you, any African leader can kill as many of his people as he likes because of the many injustices committed by europeans? Africa will forever remain the dark continent, because of primitive minded people like cap28. |
cap28: And you're an even bigger sadist for refusing to acknowledge that the Europeans have killed much more than 20,000 Africans throughout the time they have been on the African continent. How many Africans were killed in ivory coast when the French invaded that country recently ? How many have been killed in DRC in the last ten years, all as a result of either direct intervention from the west or through their funding and training of militias in various parts of the continent. So all these atrocities by Europeans nullify the genocide against the matebele people? you people are really funny, why not equally condemn all atrocities against africans and stop worshiping mass murderers like mugabe? As I stated before, you hate white people more than you love your fellow Africans. With people like you, Africa will surely remain the dark continent. |
SeaGold: IBOs are modern day colonials.Bwahahaha Why does iboland look like a jungle than? |
Lol, Ibos and their inferiority complex, their language is endangered in their own land, yet they want claim that it's' thriving in another country.. |
OBJ = GEJ, this is all meant to fool the public, all these ogas get along quite well with each other. |
Nigerians hate themselves more than foreigners do, most would probably airbrush nigerians from other tribes from their own story and that of their people. |
cap28: and you are filth for supporting the very people who enslaved your ancestors and continue to perpetrate mass genocide against africans. So 20 000 matebele citizens mass murdered by mugabe doesn't concern you? All of you mugabe lovers are generaly sadists and would probably commit the same atrocities if given power. Your hate and desire for revenge has clouded your vision, you hate the white man more than you love your own Africans. smh |
The question one should ask is, presently can Zimbabwe survive without South Africa? I don't think so. |
You're quite right, western nigeria was the region that took a stance and help end apartheid... Out of all nigerian leaders, OBJ was the most vocal and active, the others probably didn't give a dem.. |
.. |
As has been already stated, ujukwu a complete coward. Biafra was clearly destined to be another French puppet country. |
Nobody was invited, it was their own prerogative. |
Dummest thread ever!!!! |
What a useless thread, how many Angolans were killed fighting against apartheid? I don't see them whining about not being chosen to speak.. On another note.. the sa president was booed and jeered. www.nairaland.com/1550573/zuma-booed-mandela-memorial |
kingston277: So can you explain this picture? The san people occupied east and southern Africa. |
Why do people take pride in being the first people, doesn't that fall into racists claims that certain people are more primitive and less evolved than others? |
climate change is a hoax i don't believe in it. |
