There are two methods of biblical interpretation - EXEGESIS and EISEGESIS

Exegesis is the exposition or explanation of a text based on a careful, objective analysis. The word exegesis literally means “to lead out of.” That means that the interpreter is led to his conclusions by following the text.

The opposite approach to Scripture is eisegesis, which is the interpretation of a passage based on a subjective, non-analytical reading. The word eisegesis literally means “to lead into,” which means the interpreter injects his own ideas into the text, making it mean whatever he wants.

Instead of following the path of EXEGESIS by allowing the scriptures to speak for itself, your Governing Body has instead chose the path of EISEGESIS.

They have forced their own ideas upon the scriptures making it mean what ever they want.

For example, what does 2 John 9 - 11 say?

2 John 1:9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

2 John 1:10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them.

2 John 1:11 Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.

If we follow the right path of EXEGESIS and allow the scripture to speak for itself, we find out this scripture clearly states that if a person does not continue in the teachings of Christ, then you can decide to not welcome them to your home or greet them.

On the other hand, how does your Governing Body interpret the above verses?

By following their flawed method of EISEGESIS, they have forced their own ideas and claimed that the above scripture is the basis for their disfellowshiping and shunning doctrine.

Governing Body member Mark Sanderson claimed that the above scripture was talking about apostates.

But is that really true?

Have apostates gone against the teachings of Christ or against the teachings of the Governing Body?

Another example of EISEGESIS by the Governing Body is the doctrine of 1914.

There is no single verse in the Bible that mentions 1914 - so where did they pull that out of?

Simple, by forcing their own ideas into Daniel's prophecy.

Just wondering if the church still exist, because I no longer see them on the streets as they are always known for. Or could it be that the governing has also stopped them from preaching on the streets with their umbrella and brief cases?

The main reason you saw them on the streets back then was because each time they go for preaching, they have to submit a monthly report showing how many hours they spent preaching, how many magazines they distributed, etc.

Back then, if you didn't report between 30 - 50 hours per month, they will call you spiritually weak.

So people had to go out to preach to be able to count the hours.

Mind you, the submitting of the monthly report had no scriptural backing, but they kept at it for over a 100 years.

But recently, the Governing Body announced that they don't have to give a monthly report anymore - that is why you're not seeing them on the streets again.

Since there is no need to report hours monthly again, most people are not worried about preaching again.
