I didn't expect otherwise. |
This won't make front-page because it is not America. And our celebrities would not tweet about police violence in Nigeria, or the racist behavior amongst us. A white man will be listened to in Nigeria, before anyone knows who you are. And again, there is despair everywhere. Even here, everywhere, you hear about violent animals raping and murdering. A very depressing period. God have mercy and show us delight. |
Even at 35. The oldest on the list. |
Commendable. Our government, representatives should always be accessible. |
Trump is very influential, and in the past, the office he occupies is considered the topmost authority. In the world, people, leaders look to him for guidance, for information. However Trump is a unique president, and probably so, because of what we are fed by the mainstream media_ but regardless of what we are fed, we cannot excuse the continuation of the spread of falsehood, propaganda and hurtful statements thus I agree it is important that falsehood be identified and flagged. But then who is the arbiter of truth? That is where Twitter gets it wrong. They tell us that it is the Washington post, New York Times and CNN when Trump has for years, questioned the integrity of the mainstream media, and the mainstream media have publicly displayed their disgust towards his administration sentimentally and without objectivity sometimes. They have constituted themselves as opposition and lent their platform to misrepresentations, fibbings and even ignoring important truths especially when it hurts their sponsors; This post too probably is, an exaggeration of Trump's position. Opinions of people should never be absolute truth. You can quote Moses to commit murder, quote Marx to destroy people... not even ideas should have that absolute power especially on subjective issues. I would have opined that in addition to Trump's tweet, twitter can suggest to readers an option to view what others are saying about issues, those that disagree with the position of Trump inclusive. Thereby providing users with a robust view on issues. But twitter should not play into the hands of those seeking to make it a god over truth and should not say 'this is false, this is truth because CNN experts calls it so. The custodians of the truth should not have the history of the mainstream media. |
Are you concerned out of love for your sister, or concerned about the hatred brewing in you towards her? The characterization of your sister is likely not objective as you yourself mentioned; it won't be objective or a clear picture of what is occurring if truly you are beginning to despise her. Such emotions also beclouds judgment. Those whom we despise we castigate and those whom we love, we improve. I will assume you love your sister, and you want the best for her and you see all happening as damaging to her vigour, diligence and virtue. But before you improve another, you must first improve yourself; examine why you have to characterise your mum and your sister's discussion as gossip rather than mere conversation, examine if you complain whenever you are delegated a task, out of sheer laziness on your part; if you see responsibility, or duties you are assigned as torture or suffering, then you must consider improving yourself as well. Also, I learnt something over the years, which is I try to give the best premise I can imagine to people's action. This is an opportunity for you, to nurture and become a better individual; try to convince your siblings that your mother love them more, even when it seems contrary; if you could do that, you are building relationships and nurturing love and kindness in them. However if you have already done all of the above and more and you are concerned for your sister's wellbeing. Then you first understand, that you can only help her from a place of love, by your relation with her; one of respect and love, she will stem into your concern and become who you desire her to be. Shalom. |
You will go on a journey, a very lonely journey, that your friends, families cannot come or be with you or will not agree to come with you. The deserted school, is still the continuation that the journey ahead is lonely but you have been external from the experiences that can help you or you with your journey. The education you must have is not in the buildings around. The school you must, is the tarred road ahead. The tarred straight road you see is an illusion for yourself, in this journey, you must uphold yourself and be plain and straightforward in your dealings and affairs; this will not be an easy task, but you must not falsely assume the road; it is not some physical exercise than it is mental. And It is on this road you will be reborn. The child you see is yourself that you must leave behind to be successful in this journey. With the childish things you do, you will be distracted and it will weigh you down. Because it is a lonely journey, you will sometimes wish to return to the crowd, to family, friends but perhaps persevere for that which awaits you. |
Count your blessings Sir. Some wish for a quarter of all of your accomplishment. A grateful spirit, comes more blessing. |
Rotimi Williams is greater than Gani Fawehinmi. If it is popularity contest, Perhaps you could say Gani is. But recall as well Gani's greater ambition, contested in his town or home state but his people stood behind another. But this is not a popularity contest. And your premise for the popularity of Gani is irresponsible and immoral....Gani would turn in his grave to think you cast his illustrious career on the strength that he could make mockery of another. You could encourage people without putting another down or casting aspersions on them. Rotimi is the first senior advocate of Nigeria, also, the first solicitor to the supreme court, was a Queen counsel. He is an aspiration for many of us, just as Gani is; who spoke against power and defended the least of us. |
Her father's house. |
May God expose all of you and help us put the recovered loot to all of us- common wealth. |
The problem with most of us exactly. I am a child of Nigeria, but Nigeria hasn't been to many a responsible father. A good child points this out, because he knows his father is headed for destruction. I pray for the president, that God grants him wisdom and strength to lead us; and take away his cluelessness; folks here crucify you.Disagreement and criticism is an evidence of interest in the total well-being. |
Our shy president. |
There should be a reason. Audit committee's should always have their independence both in appearance and conduct. Saying they can be recalled impairs that appearance; We all know now that the commission would endeavor to look away from the misconduct of this powerful people in the house. |
Again, we should understand that the testing or the amount of discovered covid 19 patients is different entirely from the reality. This people that are discovered today; some of them had the virus yesterday, some of them the day before... and those that would be discovered tomorrow, today already have the virus, and they do not merely have, they spread too. The government tells you that hundreds have died from the virus and in the closest stay to the federal capital, no single test have been done in kogi. Thousands already die daily in Nigeria, from herdsmen, from bandits, from curable diseases; no one knows this people, no one cares about them. It is the wealthy and their employees, that we have their data. So be wary of this information from NCDC, it does not reflect the true picture. Look at the amount of people tested, and compare to the population of the country; that is the beginning of wisdom. You are alone in this battle, this battle for your life. No employer to give free lunch, no government to help, in some state, the officials see all of these as their opportunity to siphon funds, to wield power recklessly and your church or religious head cares little. They will regardless of reason, if the govt allows them, hold a million crusade to get their tithe and offerings. Perhaps the imams told our governor 'more virgins in aljana , when our mosques are allowed' People have ignorantly killed others and themselves because of virgins and they will again. Don't be part of those. It is difficult to ensure the measures in the far north, even the most advanced societies die in their thousands and hundreds from recklessness, and thousands, from the irresponsibility of others. It is you and your God, brethen. Anyone trying to reach you without a mask is a murderer and if you can, stay indoors and pray. Pray, that God gives our healthcare workers strength, guide the vaccine creators right and give our govt the wisdom to care and not abandon us. With faith, people can be very irresponsible, and we owe others regardless of our faiths, such responsibility. |
You have only mentioned one or two examples of his social skills. To probably put well, I think you are concerned about his self-esteem then the example you provide seems as though of gullibility but there is a very thin line between gullibility and a child avoiding victimisation or being compassionate to a two year old that he finds vulnerable. Either way, your child is rather passive and it bothers you as should bother all parents but if you are really concerned, first, you must appreciate, that there can be no proper diagnosis based on the information you provided here without a considerable evaluation and interaction with your boy and girl. The responses, you would expect should range from personal experiences, but many here do not have such experiences and even if they do, are incapable of suggesting an appropriate solution due to the lack of sufficient information from you, even parents struggle diagnosing their children or themselves. So be wary. Also your assumption is harmful in itself, on his IQ, especially if you have been relating to your child based on this assumption. Be careful about your decision to put your child in a military school. Military schools teaches harmony, obedience which is in the family of passitivity; you would have reinforced the behavior you are trying to correct, and infact maybe indulge withdrawal in the child. Do get in touch with a professional for an appropriate intervention. An intervention could be that you may have to tweak the socialization in your home. Rather than being authoritative with the kids, you may begin to inquire from them, have a dialogue with them about your observation, and discuss about the responses; another could be to encourage them to speak their mind, to create situations where you can teach them to disagree, this way, you inculcate assertion but I don't know if there is more to it, or if this is what is lacking. |
Power corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Lord Acton The above is not the problem with Wike. I feel it is in times like this, that we need those who can wield and exercise their power. We are in very desperate times and no more than in desperate time are desperate measures needed. In some States, Dangote trucks are used to import the viruses. We must be watchful and pray for a governor like Wike. If we had him as president, he'd stopped the virus from flying in. If the south west had him, they'd shut all the exits from Lagos and probably have lesser cases... Wike is signalling to the powerful and those held high, that the life of his people matter; and it would not be traded as is done in Kano and other states, for the economic benefit of a certain few. |

May those left behind take heed and be consoled and the departed, find peace. |
It is a difficult choice between livelihood and ones life, but we must choose life, it is not an easy choice but remember job may be lost as our economy will stumble or even collapse but it will recover and the job lost will be recovered, but not the life lost. Pls stay safe, not just for you, but for your aging mother, father, uncles and all. We do not yet have the healthcare facility in place to address a partial blow-up and the more the number, the more likely for it all to crumble. |
pls stay safe. |

We must learn to treat animals rightly actually. I think Nairaland has a bias against animals. They like to show dead animals. Many here have not seen or observed this animal before and will never get a chance to. I eat cows and chicken; but we rear them. We shouldn't go out of our ways to be hostile to animals and sadly this platform promotes that culture. People go in search of animals to maim and murder so they can be on nairaland front-page. Disgraceful actually. |
Don't waste your data. |
Governor Sanwo-olu cares about the lives of his people. Lagos population density is just what that virus want to replicate the havoc it caused in New York. Provisions must first be made to address this inevitability. Tomorrow morning by 6AM, the massive crowd trying to get transport, the traffic... if possible, a set aside transport system to convey the civil servants will just serve. I pray God give you wisdom to protect your people. |
Very reasonable. We will remember those who stood by us and those who didn't. Mr Wigwe could give one or two billion naira for publicity, then throw under the bus those who have given their lives to the realisation of his dream. In saner climes, government provided palliatives to businesses so they can float, but here, folks are just extremely about themselves; not providing such palliatives to the people, or even their employee but to the government, a government we all know don't care and then what do you do afterwards? Take away the livelihood of thousands of your employees in a period they cannot possibly get another employment or find another means of survival. But glad the government could show this time they care, about us and our survival. Again, very reasonable from the CBN. Pls continue down this path. |
The reason why many today are atheist is because of the conduct of religious folks. I think there are no greater preachers of atheism than those around us, the gullible neighbour who is being manipulated to part with his wages in the church while he cannot afford to use the clinic of the church, or his child in the creche of the church. Or to continue, what is done in the name of religion, the evil that is done. The misogyny perpetuated, the violence cheered. But then, people’s misconduct, the chaos we see in the world should not make us lose sense of a being beyond us, of our creator. As the above is not the core of the faith; violence is not the core or pillar of Islam, the prophet preached peace but you have individuals that have hijacked the religion just like the fraudulent apostles everywhere, who cannot follow the path of Jesus, sharing breads to the hungry, showing compassion to the filthy, the sinner, protecting a lady from being stoned, exemplifying sacrifice and love, just as their founder. Without faith, the world will probably be in more chaos, as without faith, there will be less shared identities, and we know what is done with identity, the evil that can be perpetuated in defending ones identity. It seems faith brings sanity to people, tempers the disturbed. But then religious folks must begin to act right, to speak against the evil done in the name of their religion, acting like their forerunner has done, not amassing wealth or power, but giving life to those who need. |
I really do want to grow and I was just trying to help with other alternatives at her disposal. Please, forgive me if I have offended you Ma. Eulalia: |
My emphasis was on time, not financial. And where did you get the nonsense that human right lawyers don't charge? It is only probono service that don't charge, some may provide legal help without a fee, or work on behalf of an organization, some organizations such as legal aid, JEI, hurilus may help if there is clear abuse of her right and if it is obvious she cannot afford a legal representative . There is no clear human right abuse in this case. This is labor law, not your conventional law; it will be under the jurisdiction of National industrial court, which will refer her back even. Eulalia: |
Expatriates? e don do, con dey go. |
If you really need that money so urgently, you may need to reconsider your approach. Litigation can be costly, especially as it relates with you. You need the money not next year but now. So reconsider, maybe appeal to his/her pride if you haven't, and if you have, do again. Engage people he respects. The parents of the students, the teachers, to reach out on your behalf. But then again, your employer seem like an inconsiderate person, opportunistically exploitative and you sound like ASUU or some union president; who won't be self-deprecating. I am sure you have been confrontational but he/she is not acquiescing. Just know, if you continue down the path, it may take time. Find another source to see to your health first. Wishing you the best whatever step you take. |
