PoliticsRe: Chief Nyesom Wike And His Ultimate Misinterpretation Of Section143 Electoral Act by otil1: 12:56pm On Oct 25, 2015
"Determined" means when the appeal is decided, not when it is heard.

You are the one that misinterpreted the statute.

If Wike files an appeal within 21 days, he remains in office until the appeal panels judgement on the matter.

Check the case of Sullivan Chime in his first tenure.

When will these guys settle down to govern?

Its clear that at the national assembly, it is PDP that sets the tone and agenda. Look at ministerial clearing, APC MPs acting under the shadow of PDP MPs. Again look at Rep Committee's, PDP 45, just 3 chairs shy of APC's 48.

Now, the Presidency -disaster. Statement today, if not reversal tomorrow, it is rebuttal.

This is clearly not what Nigerians voted for.

Who's in charge of statecraft please? I need answer please. (mature ones only)

CrimeRe: 80-year Old Woman Arrested In Edo For Selling Live Cartridges by otil1: 6:29pm On Oct 19, 2015
Please, please, before we criucify this great grandma, can we know what type of cartridge.

If it is bullet cartridge for double barrel gun, then no issue na. That one is common and the guns are licensed as hunting rifle.

But if na pistol or AK47, my hand no dey there.

See, as police carefully didn't mention the bullet type and didn't show any picture of the cartridge, I have strong doubt.

They should just leave the old woman alone. They just want to show their Oga say them dey work.

If you check wella, the people wey arrest d old mama fit don sell RPG sef. Or will they claim they are just knowing, when the woman has been in the business since 1970s.

I no believe this one
PoliticsRe: Deji Of Akure: Eze Ndi Igbo Is Protected By The Constitution Of Nigeria by otil1: 10:47am On Oct 18, 2015
The issue in Akure is not about existence of Eze Ndi Igbo.

If there is ever an issue as such, there should be law to guide all parties -The council of traditional chiefs law specifically.

I will be greatly shocked if the council of chiefs law in Ondo State provides that whoever angers the Deji of Akure should be manhandled by thugs.

My point: the society is based and driven by rule of law. That's the only reason you can expect order. Not rule of Deji. Someone should cross over to the palace and tell Deji that his seat is a product of law and he must conduct himself in accordance with law.

What happened in Akure was sheer lawlessness, even if the Deji was not honoured as he expects to be. He lacks such power under the law.

macof:
All rulers in a traditional territory must be approved by the paramount Ruler - here being the Deji

So the existence of Eze Ndigbo of Akure is subject to the Deji's call

PoliticsRe: Of What Use Is The Petition Signing To Biafra Restoration? by otil1: 2:24pm On Oct 16, 2015
PETITION STATEMENT

The Indigenious People of Biafra (IPOB) are hounded, harrassed, massacred, and incarcerated in violation of their civil and United Nations rights of Indigenous People to agitate for self determination. Buhari is breaking international law by harassing and killing the beleaguered and marginalized peoples of Biafra in British-Nigeria.

There are currently 25,657 signatures. NEW goal - We need 30,000 signatures!

PETITION BACKGROUND

We, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu, are compelled to call for a total boycott of British-Nigeria and her murderous president Muhammadu Buhari because British-Nigeria is a rogue terrorist state that tramples on every conceivable human rights, particularly, the rights of the beleaguered people of Biafra and IPOB—the organization of Biafrans agitating for freedom from the wicked British-Nigeria contraption and edifice of genocide.

Buhari is an avowed Islamist, genocidist, tribalist, and unabashed Boko Haramist. Buhari is terrorizing Biafrans—an indigenous people forced against their wish to remain in British-Nigeria—because they are exercising their United Nations Rights of Indigenous Peoples to self-determination. He has been killing, terrorizing, and mounting roadblocks; abducting, beating, shooting and incarcerating unarmed Biafrans who are peaceably agitating to be free from marginalization and genocide; thus, breaking International Law and violating the United Nations Charter on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples of which British-Nigeria is a co-signatory.

Buhari has committed genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity and ought not to be embraced by other world leaders. He should be at International Criminal Court (ICC) and not at United Nations. We call on the civilized nations of the world to Boycott President Muhammadu Buhari and British-Nigeria before it is too late. Thank you. Please see detailed explanation at http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1273646

Arguments on Nairaland won't solve this. Also hasty, hush hush conclusions by the authorities won't either.

What is needed is for ballistic experts from the Police bomb unit to visit and study the site.

It is not the job of General Manager
of the Lagos State Emergency
Management Agency (LASEMA) to unravel the cause of an explosion. He has clearly acted beyond his brief, and obviously, there are gaps in his explanation.

Exactly what the article is advocating against - that this is not a matter to politik about, but all Nigerians should join hands to route the insurgents.

Anyway, since in the face of escalating attacks, you chose to believe and even propagate the propaganda of December deadline, we will be waiting.

I have marked you out and I will remind you that it's all propaganda, there's no game plan to deal with the situation. GMB as a general is no advantage really.

who refused to acknowledge that boko harm was a threat But said that terrorism was every where in the world and "maybe it's our turn" - otueke clown.

Now that Diezani Alison Madueke has been officially captured, I challenge all Nigerians in London to come out, make sure that their voice is heard and show their uncompromising support to fight this war against corruption to the end. I would like to see at least 50,000 Nigerians to come out and surround the court building on the day DIEZANI ALISON MADUEKE is to be charged. I want to see signs, posters, and heavy protesting in the support of fair judgment! We must not rest, we must fight this war to the end. PoliticsRe: 2016 Budget Will Diversify Economy From Oil Says Buhari by otil1: 9:01am On Oct 06, 2015
@Bevista, allow me to agree and disagree with you.

First, I agree that it is good to sometime make excuses for a team you are passionate about, but I disagree with any effort to give hope that any economic agenda will ensue in 2006.

Here are my reasons:

1. It all starts from the head: what is General Buhari's professed (or stated) or expressed economic agenda? Answer -nil. He has said nothing, zilch! What is APC's economic agenda on which basis they convinced Nigerians to take over the helm of affairs of the nation? Answer -it is becoming clear that there is really none.

2. Expect nothing in 2016: Policy has a life cycle, starting from envisioning to formulation to execution to appraisal, a full circle. This takes time. So what will happen in 2016? Envisioning or planning or formulation or execution? Answer: nothing. Reason, see 3&4 below.

3. It takes a full budget season to take a new policy into execution: policy drives budgeting process and any policy not yet formulated before 2016 budget cannot be executed by implementing 2016 budget

4. Finally, it is scary: when the head of state is bereft of any economic ideals or vision and the political party in power has none, what do you predict? Now, mix in the body language or expressed language that ministers are noise makers, so GMB has no plan to listen to any policy agenda coming from bloody noise-maker civilians, what will you finally predict?

And guess what, the global economic outlook is clearly not favourable with all the predictions of ww3, Russia, America, Syria, Iran and Israel about to unravel.

It is scary Bros. Propaganda won't do it bros and better stop saying what they haven't said. Have the administration said that it's economic agenda will come in full force in 2016? So where are you drawing your strength from? Personal conviction or what?

Bevista:
It is understandable that the administration's Economic Agenda will come into full force starting from 2016. But a sound Economic Team is needed comprising of Ministers of Finance, National Planning, Trade & Investments, Agriculture, etc.

It is my hope and belief that the 2016 budget will be much bigger than the 2015 one due to the effect of the TSA. I do also hope that CAPITAL will have a much higher percentage allocation than we have experienced lately.

Very good news we have here. It's time we do away with over dependence on "our oyel".

Nigeria is immensely blessed to be tied to just one economic resource.

If you guys represent about 30% of the much hyped "leaders of tomorrow", it is save to conclude that the older generations (born in 40s and 50s) will continue to lead Nigeria for many years to come. It is the failure of the younger generations as represented by GEJ, Diezani, Farouk Lawan, Dimeji Bankole, Oduah, Abba Moro et al that has made us to go back to the past in PMB.

Ignorant people all over this thread. The so called international investors are nothing but predators and speculators. 1. No policy can change the current reality of oil price collapse and the significant reduction in goverent revenue and foreign exchange earnings.

2. The last administration is responsible for the misfortune that will afflict all Nigerians in the coming 20 years.

See this boy! cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
Why can't we stop all this comparing and face the matter. As far as I am concerned, any government that allows it's performance to be compared to an administration that has been voted out, should have a lot of soul-searching to do.

Now, let's face it. In the past administration, the 1st independence day bombing, the Nigerian security circle had a lead and eventually resolved it. Someone is in jail for it now. Madalla Chrismas day bombing, it didn't take weeks and a lead was there.

I haven't done deep research but there was also a pre-emptive strike in Apo to take out insurgents even before the finished hatching their plans. There was an 'awake' intelligence and counter-terrorist function in the country.

Things have really gone worse, let's aadmit.

The Abuja coordinated bombing is too big an operation to have completely slipped thru our intelligence network, and as at today, no lead yet. No arrest. No interrogation. Who tells you that a bigger hatch is not in the offing now they will be emboldened, knowing the new DSS is a complete bozo. And this is what u get when u want to appoint your brother to a sensitive post he lacks competence in.

Don't be surprised that he may have just put other people like he was put to head key strategic operational units. Bros, this is nepotism. That is corruption.

We always wait for big sums stolen to be announced to shout "corruption".

Nepotism has done more damage to the nation than lost funds
