Hey ๐Ÿค

1. While you are waiting for the embassy's response. Merge your MRV payment receipt, SEVIS payment confirmation, and your I 20 bio data together and email to the embassy from your portal via FeedBack option . Explain to them your need for another appointment.

2. Naturally, you are supposed to wait for some time as a 2nd timer before you can be granted another appointment slot but that is not always the rule of the game . Population of current appointment seekers also matters .

A quick one please guys ๐Ÿ™.
I am currently studying in the UK to be finishing next year and would therefore like to further my masters or Ph.D in ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ. But before then, Iโ€™m currently thinking of applying for a tourist (B-2 visa).

Do you think this is a good move? Will it affect/enhance my study visa application later on the following year? Or do you reckon I just forget about the visit and apply for the study visa once I finish next year from my program.

Further, provided you advise I go ahead and apply for the tourist visa and gets approved, can I switch from the tourist visa to a study visa in the States? or do I need to return and reapply all over for the study visa.

Please your kind and brotherly advise will be highly appreciated.

Regards.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. If you are a Nigerian presently studying in the UK without any relative or jobs or residency status which tie you to the UK upon graduation, then i will support you stake the gamble . But the only B1/B2 visa i will recommend you to apply for is the one that will have the support or coordination of your present institution (ie education tours , academic seminars , exchange programs etc) which will guarantee your visa success 75%.

2. By that , your present studentship In the UK will stand as your tie to the UK because USA consular will concludes that a reasonable student won't abscond to the USA or stay behind when he or she has only 1 year left to bag his or her certificate .

3. Yes , if you finally got the B1/B2 you can change to F1 status if you follow the policies and procedures .

4. If you wait till after your graduation in the UK before you apply for Msc / Phd , its still 50/50 chances . You will still have to proof ties to the UK and proof financial ability with no immigrant intent before your F1 visa can be granted.

5. If you cannot proof ties to the UK then you will have to return to Nigeria and apply for your F1 visa (perhaps you should be able to proof some ties in your fatherland).

6. Alternatively, you can transfer your credits from your present institution in the UK to an accredited institution in the USA (complex process though) and many UK universities have an exchange scheme with some USA universities (explore these options ).

Good evening all. Quick question: Which address do I put in the part of the DS-160 that asks for where I will be staying in the U.S.?

I saw a YouTube video that said you should put your school's address, even if you have a place to stay in the US. I don't know how true this is. I would appreciate your timely responses. Thanks.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. That YouTube is honest. Follow its guideline.

2. If your daughter gained admission into University of Nigeria (UNN) as a 100 level fresher, she is expected to stay on campus (hostel) naturally.

3. If you put it on opinion polls , 98% of parents prefers their children / wards to stay on campus for security purposes. Let's leave it that way .

Hello House,i have 2 quick questions.

1. When completing ones IVR, there is a part that asked "if you have been denied visa within 12months under the same visa class''. Last year i applied for tourism and i was refused under B1/B2 and now i am applying for conference. Does conference B1 belong to the same visa class? And do i have to click on the box or opt for the none of the above?

2. when you are applying for a B1 visa for a conference. If approved, will you be issued a 5yrs B1/B2 visa?

Hey ๐Ÿค

1 B- 1 is a visitor for business , and B- 2 is a visitor for pleasure, but they can issue the combinations of both for you (especially when you are applying on behalf of a company or an organisation) in order for you to be able to juggle the visa types , eg if your employer is sending you on conference or seminar, you will use B-1 and during the holiday if you want to visit , you will use B-2.

2. In your case , mark yes , you have been refused under the same visa type before . Honesty is the best policy , it won't affect your present visa process if you qualify for it .

3. Yes , you will possibly be given B1/B2 5 yrs multiple entry , especially if your employer or an organisation is sending you to represent them.

Hi please I will be glad to get your opinions on this issue. I am. Ghanaian and I'm married. I am in my early 30s. I got my b1/b2 visa in 2023. The reason of the first visit was for a conference. I indicated I will be spending 10days in my ds-160 form however I spent 3 weeks thats 21 days. I later on in the year went to the uS in December same year for the Christmas and New year holidays. For that I spent 4 weeks.
At the time I was entering the US for the second time I had already received admission for law program from two schools. But I still returned after my vacation and came back to apply for my F1 Visa. Here in Ghana you can use dropbox to change from b1/b2 visa to f1 which I did because I still have a valid us visa for four more years remaining.
I have a full tuition scholarship of $45,000 but i and my father are sponsoring the remainder of my other living expenses, fees and books which amounts to $26,000.
But when I did the dropbox the embassy asked for only my I-20 with no other supporting documents to be attached whether admissionor scholarship letter. Two weeks after the submission I received a refusal under 221g asking to schedule a follow-up interview.
Please I would like to find out what possible questions I should prepare for and if there's any red flag in my history I should prepare for.

I have a good job and good educational history. I already hol dan MBA from Ghana and I truly attended a conference, I have attendance certificate to back my claim.
Kindly help me with any Contribution
.

Hey ๐Ÿค

*** All hope is not lost because rejection under 221g is a temporary refusal, and the probability of your application being completely rejected based solely on section 221(g) are not very high.

1. I want to think that you kind of pointed out one of the consular reasons for your temporary F1 refusal in your last paragraph. You have a good job and good educational history . Why opting for another academic sojourn in the United States ?

2. You are doing well in Ghana and went for conference in the USA ( I want to think your present job was used as one of your ties to Ghana) , and all of a sudden you processed Law admissions in the USA while you are coming from a business background.

3. Is your present job in Ghana related to Law practising ? Are the schools which gave you the Form I 20s accredited enough ? Are they private institutions which gave unauthorized I 20s ? I want to think those ' re the reasons the embassy retained your Form I 20 for further verification.

4. Okay, let's agree you passed the above marks. Why is your present employer not standing as your sponsor ? The USA consulars knows the easiest USA visa types towards Permanent Residency (F1 visa one of the top rated) and hence, the consular might deduced that your academic intention is not genuine. It might be based on your plan to work towards USA PR which your present B1/B2 can't facilitate for you.

5. You kinda overstayed your B1/B2 visa once . Be ready to explain that.

Agent or not, welldone to everyone responding here. But we must also accept the fact that no one knows it all, else, our education is useless.

Mr OyoTunjiUSA, if people have to prove ties to the respective countries they're present in, rate of US visa issuance for Nigerians in foreign countries would be very low, but that's not the case.

While it may not compulsorily be your home country (depending on your visa status or engagement in the country you are at that moment), you must tie your visa interview response to going back somewhere after your studies.

It might be your home country as it is in the post I'm quoting or the country you're seeking visa from, if you're established and have ties there

To me, it doesn't look like these things have rigid restrictions as they're being painted here. And the whole back and forth is not necessary

Hey ๐Ÿค

@Excellence100.

1. Why are you just posting your visa transcript today ? So you have quickly process phd admission, got your visa and post it in order to support lies .

2. Bsc , Msc & PhD in visa juxtaposing , Phd will definitely take the lion share. A Nigerian with a visiting visa to Australia may have his PhD F1 granted based on the fact that PhD applicants are naturally academic resources to any countries and especially if the applicant is a genius.

3. Generally , A Nigerian who went to Australia for conference and who does not know any one and doesn't have a house or family in Australia except his hotel room , tell me if he goes for F1 or B1/B2 at the USA embassy in Australia from his hotel room that his visa will be granted ?

4. If a Nigerian got a USA visa from any country other than Nigeria his or her country of birth , then he or she has a tie to that country. OR his or her previous visa , perhaps his or her DS 160 information makes him or her a genuine visa candidate .

5. I don't believe in visa transcripts because i can form different visa success transcripts myself and post it on Nairaland . I only believe the scanned copy of the visa i see .

Please i want to ask, I have a Visitors Visa, i am a practicing nurse in uk but i want to go for my masters in usa, what are my chances of getting a usa study visa?

Hey ๐Ÿค

*** USA visa is not a piece of cake.
*** It is not a respecter of any person
*** It's not a respecter of your location .
*** It's a chameleon (u can't understand it).

1. Regardless of your current visitor's visa, you still have to qualify (just like a person who has not gotten any US visa b4) for your F1 visa to be granted.

2. While applying for your F1 visa, your current B1/B2 visa can even be revoked with prejudice (* you cannot apply for any visa and if you do, it will automatically be rejected) if your records shows abuse of your current B1/B2 visa.

3. You may even apply for change of status from B1/B2 to F1 filed on the Form I-539 but that means the only way you can enter the USA is by lying to the CBP officer at the port of entry , so it's highly inadvisable to pull this stunt.

4. Don't listen to anyone saying since you are in the UK and you have B1/B2 visa already , therefore it would be easier. Such people actually don't understand the nuances of USA visa types and the highly experienced consulars who are well trained to understand visa conspiracies.

5. If we start UK /USA visa opinion polls on Nairaland today , you will be marveled to see the population of Nigerians who have being finding it difficult to enter the USA from the UK, even from Canada and Australia.

6. Follow all the rules and policies of F1 visa and be certain that you meet the conditions.

7. USA Consulars hates with passion the attitude of its my right , or over-confidence or i am different to others in visa applicants .

8. In order to stop the spread of such beliefs , your visa can be denied even if you are 100% qualified but with such hallmarks .

This is wrong. Absolutely wrong. You do not have to prove ties to the country you are applying for visa.

Everyone has to apply for visa outside of US. I renewed my visa first in Mexico and second in Canada.

I do not have ties to those country and visa was issued.

A friend travel to Cameroon for his visa interview and was approved.

Since you are applying for a non-immigrant visa, they are looking to cancel any immigrant intent.

Now, there are no set rules to this anyway. A lot of people get visa without zero home ties. If they see genuinety in you based on the visa officers discretion, he/ she would issue you your visa

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Even if you travel to Canada or Australia (automatic change of ips which is 98% beter than VPN) in order to fill your DS 160 , you will still face the same issue (as a first timer or occasional applicant).

2. Filling of DS 1-60 is one of the biggest frustrations of Applying for USA visas because its security oriented and it has a time-out session which does not give you enough time to think.

3. Try get a DS 160 questionnaire. Fill everything and print it out. Then place it near your computer and start filling the online Form. By this, you won't have to think about what and what you want to type. Use Mozillar Firefox if possible . VPN is not the solution but your own die hard behavior to have the form filled out .

4. DS - 160 is of utmost important . Infact , it speaks for you 75% on the day of your interview . If on the day of your interview you develop a tooth problem and unable to speak, the consular might just open your DS 160, flip through it and approve your visa.

Hello family, greetings. Iโ€™m a Ghanaian and will be traveling to South Africa for my B1B2 interview to attend a conference. I didnโ€™t know I can list more than one job on the DS-160 so I only entered my employer details. Will I surely be asked what I do so I will have the chance to add my personal registered business?

I own a cleaning company aside working for a real estate company. I have my business registration documents but as you know it is highly impossible for US Visa Officers to ask to see all document applicants takes to the interview.

Iโ€™m single without any child and I think adding my business can serve as home ties. I have intentions to return after the program but Iโ€™m a bit nervous because I didnโ€™t add my own business on the DS-160. What should I do guys?

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Forget about job listings first . Why are you going to South Africa for your B1/B2 visa interview ? If you however have a South Africa Residency paper , then that case is settled a bit .

2. Reason is that as a Ghanaian, the bast place to secure a USA visa is from your country of origin because that is the natural place you can proof ties (what will make you remember to return back to Ghana) ie families , businesses , employment, properties , future ambition in Ghana, etc.

3. You did well in listing only your employer details and i also do hope the conference you are going to attend is aligned towards your present company (employer) ? You can tell the consular verbally your other jobs and skills .

4. As a single without a child, your best tie (naturally) is your present employer with the notion that you will return to work after the conference. Your 2nd best tie is your families. Having businesses or investments in Ghana are not good ties because you can run those businesses outside Ghana. But if you own like 75% share at MTN GHANA or other larger organisations, by that the embassy can accept it as a better tie.

5. Stop all your worries above . Focus on proving ties to Ghana . You will also have difficulty in proving Ghana ties in (at the USA embassy) South Africa because you are not a South African.

Hi everyone ,

Please anyone in this category
I am applying for nursing 12 months program in the USA and I am on spousal work permit in Canada .
What is my fate in getting a visa from
This .?

Hey ๐Ÿค

*** Your faith in getting an F1 visa is like the faith of a Canadian (citizen). The only different is that YOU NEED AN F1 visa because you are not a citizen yet.

1. You must proof ties to Canada.

2. You must give a reasonable post-study plans .

3. You must show ability to pay your school fees and other miscellaneous expenses .

4. You must be ready to answer : Why this particular institution? Why Nursing ? Are there no institution in Canada that offers same quality nursing programs?

5. If you have lived up to 3 years in Canada, then you may have a better ride , but if you have just landed in Canada , then you should be ready for battle of communication with the consular.

6. USA & CANADA are like Coca Cola & Pepsi ( almost 95% of anything you can get in the USA is also obtainable in Canada or from Canada) .

7. You have to give a convincing reasons to get your visa .

Hi guys, please I need your comments. My i20 states the duration of my program to be 7 years - even though I expected to see something like 5yrs thereabout, but then now I am filling the 'lenght of stay in the US' section of my DS-160 form. I would like to confirm if the 7yrs duration on my i20 is what I should fill in the length of stay in the US section of my DS-form. Thanks!

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Follow the date stipulated in your Form -120. Naturally you may round off your program before then but your Host-institution has calculated extra time , in the case of illness, natural disaster , changes in calendars etc.

2. Another point is that , your Form I 20 will keep you staying back in the USA (until the I 20 expiration date) even if your F1 visa has expired before then. Follow the Form I 20.

Again, thank you! Very good and actionable responses. My MBA is even with STEM so makes it better.
For proving of ties, I thought I could just prove ties to my home country (Nigeria) and not here. But in this case, I'll have to use my Spouse to prove ties as he works here. Though we will be applying together, but we can argue its to help me settle down and he returns.

I hope that make sense.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. No ! You have to proof ties to the present location . For example , if a Ghanaian is applying for a US visa in Nigeria , he or she will proof ties to Nigeria , Not Ghana . If he or she cannot proof ties to Nigeria , then he or she should go to Ghana and seek for the visa .

2. Unfortunately, you are the Primary applicant (the School in the USA knows you , not your husband), therefore, the embassy is dealing with you , not your husband . Your husband cannot proof the tie for you .

3. It would have been a little better and hopeful if you have applied alone and use your husband who works in your present location as a tie (it's still a bad tie, because your husband can move anytime as he is not a citizen), but you have worsen the case by applying together .

4. You are applying with your tie ๐Ÿ˜Š So what tie will both of you leave behind in your present location ? Your kids or job ?

5. Well just put all your efforts and be positive. But , you have a complicated visa application already.

Thank you so much for your response, this makes alot of sense.

Actually I am only partly working here (freelance and not with a company) and I am just a temporary resident. I am less than a year here but I have a growing business back in Nigeria and another business I have ventured in (failed but want to get back at it again). I could link these businesses to my reasons for getting MBA if theres a way to.

I am happy to show bank statement for the deficit, however my concern is the VO thinking that's alot of money to spend considering I have a MSC.
Do you think this is a valid concern?

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. I got you . Forget a lot of money. Is it up to 200 Million NGN ?

2. VOs knows that Nigerians are wealthy and inter-connected . Therfore, we can provide any requirements.

3. You have left your major enemy which is PROVING TIES in your present location because you are a temporary resident .

4. You have an Msc and then ? A professor in Business Administration can still go for MBA. MBA is a neutral managerial certification and it keeps updating in the business world . STEM MBA is now the talk about but let's leave that aspect .

5. WORRY and think about how to proof ties to your present location . If you want to get the visa in that place (let's say Germany), what will make you come back to Germany after your study ? If you cannot prove it to me then go back to Nigeria where you were born , have families , properties etc and where the USA embassy can verify your background checks to get your visa .

Good morning guys if I decide to apply for a visa when will I possibly get an interview appointment.thank you

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. You will secure your F1 visa appointment before your resumption . Let's assume you are resuming Septemeber 2024, you should attend your interview at worst by July/August 2024.

2. Don't panic, International Student like you are placed in the first priority of visa appointments by the American government, therefore you will at worst use your last resort (emergency appointment) to get a date .

Best Wishes ๐Ÿ™

*** Sorry . I thought i was in the Student Visa section . I was exhausted .

** The possibility depends if you fall under any of the emergency appointment categories .. ie

STUDENT , MEDICAL OR BUSINESS .

@OyoTunjiUSA, If you've any idea please

Hey ๐Ÿค

*** You are not in Nigeria .

1. If you are a resident of that country you are applying from then its good.

2. If your employer in that country is sending you on job-skill upgrading (MBA) , then that's even better .

3. If you have a growing business (s) in that country and needed to widen your business managerial skills , then that's better too.

4. ** In all, it's not good to secure loan in funding your MBA ...

REASONS ;

5. You are not a good business/money manager

6. Securing private loan makes you financially incapable of funding your MBA abroad . If unexpected expenses happens during your studentship , will you take a loan to cover it ?

7. Securing full scholarships or fundings is not compulsory for MBA applicants because its a Personal Aggrandizement course , except if an organisation is sending you overseas for it. What is compulsory is genuine admission and how you intend to fund your education.

Advice
======

8. Merge your resources together and name your spouse (husband) as your main sponsor . You just have to find a bank statement that will cover the whole deficit .

Hello guys, I'm stocked at this stage on my DS1-60 form. I'm just wondering if I should include my high school information, or just that of my University. Can someone please kindly help me clarify?

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Your academic history usually starts from your Seconday (high) school and any other higher or professional certificates or skills you acquired all through phd . Only primary/elementary is usually omitted.
