Wisdomkosi: 2019 : IBB & Obasanjo Spent 40 Minutes Mocking Buhari - Popular Nigerian Writer Reveals
By Wisdom Nwedene
Popular Nigerian writer, Onyeka Nwelue has revealed that former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) spent about 40 minutes mocking President Muhammadu Buhari on telephone.
He revealed that was the day he discovered that President Buhari will heading back to Daura, his hometown, come 2019.
The writer also described Obasanjo as one of the most chameleonic and smartest and Machiavellian figures he has met.
In his words,
"I don’t admire him in any way, because nothing he does, inspires me. Except his ‘writerly’ side. "
" And I didn’t tell him that I do - no, but he is not a dumbo. He is a very smart man. He is using Nigeria to play chess and ayo - which he plays every day. But you can’t take his smartness away from him. One of the most chameleonic and smartest and Machiavellian figures I have met."
"President Obasanjo and my maternal family have known for years. So, it was easy to get access to him. To learn of so many things. In fact, when we met in Harvard earlier this year and I told him I wanted to visit him, he said he would get someone to contact me and give me a date. He kept to his word."
"On the morning I arrived his house, he asked me to feel relaxed and comfortable. I stood and sat (sometimes) watching him play ayo with his friends. As a grassroots politician, he has his constituency covered. All sorts of politicians waltzed into that house; even US Consul General to Nigeria, sneaked in at some point. Spilling a lot? No. I am not a gossip. I am arriving at something."
"President Obasanjo made me spend the whole day and night in his house, sharing intimate stories with me. Stories that my family members don’t even know about themselves and how he thinks one of my aunts, who was once his minister, is the brightest person he knows."
"As we bantered, President Obasanjo received a phone call from Ibrahim Babangida."
"They both spent about 40 minutes on the phone, mocking Buhari."
"That was when I realized that Buhari will be heading back to Daura."
"This is the end of my story."

Car Talk › Re: My Experience Travelling With An IVM Vehicle.. by ozimec(m): 1:51pm On Aug 21, 2018 |
Sunymoore: So your boy wanted to hit Damaturu, Yobe State capital, yesterday.. I went to the park and I was shown where the vehicles going to Damaturu were.. Two vehicles were parked, a Sharon and 'Hiace hummer'. The Sharon guy was trying to convince me that, Sharon is fast, fills up quickly and balanced and Hiace guy told me the huge bags I carried along will not be charged, if I board his car. So naturally, I hopped into the Hiace and save #500.. The journey began and it was so smooth.. I looked into the car and saw balanced sit, balanced leg space and decent interior, I said to my self, Toyota really upgraded, 'may be na 2017 model we dey drive sef'.. I determined the speed of the vehicle using GPS and it was within 120-140 KM/H, what prompted me to check the speed was how we were busy dusting similar vehicles and even one Lexus Lx 450 .. Overall, the car was stable, and the journey was smooth.. After hitting the state capital, I signaled the driver to drop me, which he did, when I was about getting my stuff from the vehicle, I saw IVM and made in Nigeria tag on car.. I was so amaze and felt proud as a black man.. I then got my stuffs and took my way..
Nigeria with 80Giga watts will surely see industrialization in our life time.
Favourable economic policies will encourage the likes IVM to triumph
Buy Naija to grow naija.. Enough said..
This should be the first.. Elect good leaders people... Nigerians will never value IVM because is made in NiGERIA but will rather go for cars like JAC and Co. I usually tell people how rugged IVM is. |
Travel › Re: 11 Things Lagosians Will Not Miss About “danfo” by ozimec(m): 3:32pm On Jul 25, 2018 |
AutoJoshNG: The story around town is that Governor Ambode is in the process of introducing about 5000 air-conditioned luxury BRT buses to Lagos roads.
The process is part of a grand plan to rid the state of the notorious yellow buses, otherwise referred to as “Danfo“.
Indeed, this is a welcome development. Getting rid of those annoying Danfos is long overdue.
Well, apart from the nuisance value that they provide, they also sometimes offer commuters a good measure of entertainment.
All that notwithstanding, memories of Danfo will be one Lagosians will certainly not miss.
Now, here are “11 things that we will love to miss about Danfos in Lagos”.
“Wo Le Pelu Changi”
This is an anthem of some sort by bus drivers and their conductors. They chant it as a threat to notify potential passengers of unpalatable consequences of boarding the danfo without the exact fare.
Expecting passengers to disembark while the danfo is still in motion
Time is of the essence to danfo drivers and their conductors. For reasons best known to them, they are always in a hurry. Sparing a moment to park in order for a passenger to disembark is such a huge luxury to them. So, they vituperate if a disembarking passenger does not jump off their buses even while it is still in motion.
Alcohol-laden breath of the driver and his conductor
Catching a whiff of alcohol from the breathe of danfo drivers and their conductors are realities that commuters in commercial buses in Lagos have become accustomed to. In a state where the road traffic management institutions are not known to carry out sobriety tests on motorists, this has become the norm rather than the exception.
Smelling the armpit of the bus conductor
God help you if you are seated right at the spot near where the danfo conductor is standing. At such position, you would be exposed to the stench originating from some of his body location – notably, his armpit. This becomes very prominent when he leans forward or backward to collect money from passengers at the front or the back seat.
That annoying spare tyre under the seat
Never expect to be comfortable in a danfo. However, the very least you expect is a legroom – or a space for your feet in the danfo. But it is sometimes never the case. Instead, the spot that was designed for you to place your feet on has an obstruction. It is the presence of the danfo’s spare tyre. Now, you are left with no choice than to suspend your feet awkwardly on the danfo’s spare tyre.
Stopping the danfo in order to urinate on the tyres
Indeed, danfo drivers and their conductors are humans too. They too feel the need to answer to the call of nature. However, they have a rather awkward method of answering that call. While in transit, or when stuck in traffic, they stop their vehicles and then alight to urinate on the tyres of their danfo.
Emergency “marriages”
This union happens between you and one or more co-passengers. It happens due to the failure of passengers to present the exact fare for the trip to the conductor. So, you together with another offending co-passenger are left to find a way to split the money in order to get the amount that is due you. This process is called “marrying” or “marriage”.
Dirty appearance
Bus drivers and their conductors appear like they jumped right out of their beds and went straight driving their Danfos. Their outfits sometimes leaves their bodies almost bare. Their bodies’ ooze sweat-induced stench – one that leaves you wondering if they have made any attempt to take their bath in this millennium.
The Seat-belts don’t function
Most Seatbelts in danfos are just there to to fulfill all righteousness. They never seem to function. Some of them are not attached at one ends. Some of them are slack or have totally lost their grip.
The non-functional wipers
Even if the have wipers. Danfos typically have wipers with blunt wiper blades – or wipers with just the wiper arm. During torrential rainfall, and due to poor visibility, the passengers are left at the mercy of God.
The Extra “Joko” Seat
Many danfos, by their designs have two seats in front – the drivers seat and a passenger seat by the door. In an attempt to earn extra income, they typically place a wooden kitchen seat (Joko) or a plastic seat there.
https://autojosh.com/11-things-lagosians-will-not-miss-about-danfo/ Anyways, you are correct but, i seriously doubts if danfo can be phased out in Lagos. such project will outlive Ambode second term and by the time another government will come in, the rest will be history. |

buhariguy: the fg said they will appeal the bail.
Beside, malami said ATM dansuki will not be released indefinitely because his action led to the death of more than 100,000 innocent people, and the number of death is still counting. We all know the weight of offence he allegedly committed. if fg can appeal the judgement then, that is the way to go, it is right thing to do than to disobey court orders flaglantly. if at the end, the appalate court or supreme court upholds the judgement given by other courts, fg should obey the law and grant him bail. Malami should understand that as attorney general of the federation he is there to ensure that the rule of law is followed and obeyed by all and sundries in any legal matters and not to do the opposite. granting him bail does not mean setting him free or that he's innocent. he has not been tried and convicted so, the law says he is innocent until proven otherwise by any court of law. however, my concern is that the rule of law should be adhered to and followed in any case. |

buhariguy: What is wrong with these lawyers even with falana.
Why will he be released?
Nevertheless, he will be released after 2019 election because he will be released after supreme court decision. If you read the post above, you will definitely see the stated reason why he should be released. He hasnt been convicted by any competent court of law so, he remains innocent until convicted by a competent court of law. Remember, that is what your constitution said not the Lawyer, and Buhari sworn an oath to obey the rule of law and defend the constitution. |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal To Play Atletico Madrid In Europa League Semi-finals by ozimec(m): 3:41pm On Apr 13, 2018 |
apoti: Arsenal will face Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi-finals, while RB Salzburg play Marseille.
The Gunners will play the first leg at home on Thursday, 26 April, with the second leg a week later on 3 May.
The final will be held in Lyon, France on Wednesday, 16 May, with the winner guaranteed a place in next season's Champions League.
Liverpool will find out who they face in the Champions League semi-finals when the draw takes place at 12:00 BST.
Arsenal won their quarter-final against CSKA Moscow 6-3 on aggregate, but were made to work in Thursday's second leg.
Leading 4-1 from the first tie, the Gunners conceded twice in Moscow and needed late goals from Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey to make progress more comfortable.
Winning the Europa League looks to be the Gunners' most likely way of qualifying for next season's Champions League, with Arsene Wenger's side sixth in the Premier League and 13 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham.
Atletico, Europa League winners in 2010 and 2012, are considered favourites to win the competition and are second in the Spanish La Liga, 11 points behind leaders Barcelona and with the best defensive record in the league.
They came through their semi-final against Sporting Lisbon 2-1, losing the second leg 1-0 in Portugal.

Culture › Re: Igbo Marriage And Bride Price: Put The Records Straight (Represent Your Culture) by ozimec(m): 10:14am On Apr 13, 2018 |
motherfucker: Good Morning Lovely Family,
I come in peace and I wish to indulge your collective contribution to my search. There seems to be air of misconception filled with untrue ideologies on igbo custom of marriage and bride price--at least from the majority of non-igbos who wish to marry an igbo lady.
I do understand that igbos are of diverse customs, tribe and tradition, which stipulate different rules, requirements when it comes to issues of marrying a lady from such regions.
Several months ago, a particular thread hit front page which was created by blogger flirtykaren; I mean lailasblog.com. In that thread, an image of list of items that should be presented by the groom was captured. The reaction of readers to the said list or thread announced displeasure. Some could be heard saying that Igbos sell their daughters; others asked are they gold? Others said they will never marry an Igbo lady. It went on and on.
source: https://www.nairaland.com/3054077/2016-bride-price-umuahia-abia
The sad part about the above mentioned event in that thread is that over 100 blogs have copied same content, same image and thereby circulating what might not be true. I can tell you that that report might be doing more harm than good, beyond what we might imagine. How did I know, I did a google search for the keyword phrase :"Abia State Bride Price". What I saw was a circulation of flirtykaren's post. Some other guys might do a google search and will be greeted by same reportage, which could be detrimental to potential bride of igbo extract.
A certain section of the thread claimed that in their own custom, it is relatively cheap/ affordable to marry a from his/her own tribe. Another said that the list is lie and nothing like that exist in their place. This captured my reason for creating this thread. I would want us to give potential non igbo groom the right information. This could mean that flirtykaren, just like many bloggers in Nigeria, didn't do thorough research and investigation before reporting such thread.
Numerous threads have also been created on same topic which still caused uproar by non igbos while some still claim it is not expensive to marry from their region. Is that the case? Wouldn't be nice if you (those who claim it is not expensive) to educate us on how it is done with broken down procedures?
Are you from Imo State, Anambra State, Ebonyi State, Abia State, Enugu State? What part of these states are you from? Can you be kind and humble enough to educate us how traditional marriage is carried out in your tribe among this states? I want specifics according to how it is done village by village, clan by clan and not one that represent the entire Igbo tribe.
I decided to put this here because we have more married folks around here, as against the Culture section and since Nairaland is quickly indexed, this could serve as panacea or palliative in the future among blogs.
Please this is very important. Thank you for your time. Op thank you for opening this topic. There has been a lot of misconceptions about bride price in Igbo land. Sometimes I wonder where people get the information they post online. I'm from ideato North LGA of IMO state. In my town, the bride price seems to be the cheapest. The suitor will be given a list after normal introduction which is done with just a bottle of schnapps or any wine . The items in the list cannot be more than 100k, usually between 50-70k. Then a goat is required for igba Ndu (covenant), the official pride price here is just N25. However any other money you want to spend is at your own discretion, if you like give the family 100m, they will look for change, remove N25 and return your balance then, if you want them to keep the money, they will make it clear to you that the money is not a Bride price o. As for the celebration, you are the one to decide how you want it, even if you don't want to celebrate, is up to you and your woman. Now, I understand that there's always some greedy and selfish family/ parents who will want to exploit the man especially when they see that you have the money. Also, some guys who have money, especially, these Malaysian guys and some other wwealthy men will go there to display they wealth and if you're in such a place and see the properties and goods they come with, you will think that it was demanded by the family. Bloggers will begin to post pictures without proper research. I rep Izuogu na Iheme. Pls let other South East States and other tribes say something about theirs now let's compare. Pls nobody should lie o. |

Politics › Re: Okorocha: "I Cry Every Night Because South-East May Become Slaves In Nigeria" by ozimec(m): 7:11pm On Apr 04, 2018 |
salvationproject: Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state have purportedly shared the reason why he(Rochas) cries every night.
According to the governor, recent voters registration statistics by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which shows low voters registration turnout from the southeast makes him cry every time because to him, it means the southeast have lost hence they may become slaves.
Okorocha shared this during an Easter Sunday service at the Okigwe Catholic diocese where he called on all clergymen and bishops in the southeast to encourage their followers to vote.
In his words, “A particular scenario makes me cry; INEC’s data shows that South-South has nine million registered voters, North-Central, 12 million registered voters, North-East, 15 million registered voters, South-West, 14 million registered voters, North-West, 18 million registered voters, while South-East has just eight million registered voters. “This situation makes me cry. I weep every night because of this development. This means that we have lost out before the 2019 election. If care is not taken, we will make ourselves slaves.
“My lord bishop, please tell our people to register. Our bishops must encourage Igbo people to register now. I have started shouting again, the same way I shouted in 2015.
“If Yoruba people can jettison tribal politics in 2015 to ensure that the APC won, Igbo people can do the same in 2019. Today, the Yoruba people are occupying sensitive positions in the Federal Government. ”
