I'm yet to see the decisive punitive action taken against anybody. All the people involved in the crime are still busy playing blame game and denying their involvement, apart from the Maina who is currently at large, who else has been punished or sanctioned?

Hello Nairalanders,
I have something that has been bothering me for some time now. I manage a hotel here in Nigeria, and the hotel is under renovation. I have 5staffs and just barely 5 functional rooms. Recently someone came to apply for the post of cleaner in the Hotel, I did an interview on her and asked her a lot of questions regarding the job, she said she could do the job. The next day she started work without waiting for a message from me. Few days into the work, other staffs started complaining that she isn't doing her duties, I called for a meeting and asked her if she was sure she could do this job, she said yes, I said ok. 1 week latter she says she can't continue the work, that I should pay her for the one she has worked.
Now she is disturbing me for 2weeks that she worked here.
What do I do?
It is simple now. If there was an agreement as regard payments then, determine what a week job pay will be and pay her.

Have you asked yourself why the people are scared of the so called vaccines even though they haven't started the vaccination?
Many people have lost confidence in Nigeria Army especially, in the South.
I seriously doubt if I will ever believe or trust Nigeria Army. And I know it will be difficult for many people in the South to trust them after their bitter experience in the past. 1. The attention of Headquarters 6 Division Nigerian Army has been drawn to some rumours making the rounds that some Nigerian Army Personnel are going round schools in Rivers State dressed in Military Camouflage uniforms with the intention of forcefully vaccinating students with an unknown substance. The callous and unpatriotic rumours spread by these enemies of State are, to say the least, despicable, deplorable and highly condemnable by all well meaning Nigerians as they are intended to cause pandemonium among the general public.

I have said this before, Army and the Authority should suspend this their unsolicited medical assistance to the Children of the Southern Nigeria. There's no trust for the military in the area anymore. They should just call off the exercise before lives will be lost in the process of trying to get these children vaccinated.

CrimeRe: 27 Plateau Victims Given Mass Burial After Latest Attack By Suspected Herdsmen by ozimec(m): 1:54pm On Oct 17, 2017
nwakibie3:
• President condemns incident, orders security forces to arrest situation

Seriki Adinoyi in Jos

It was another moment of grief Monday morning in Nkiedonwhro village, Bassa Local Government Area in Plateau State when at least 27 people were massacred in their sleep by gunmen suspected to be cattle herders.
The latest is about the third in the wave of attacks on the local government area since the state government imposed an indefinite dusk-to-dawn curfew on the local government council last Friday.

By Monday evening, the remains of the 27 victims of the attacks had been given a mass burial amidst wailing and outpouring of emotions in the village.
The incident followed a similar deadly attack in the same local government area on Saturday, leading to the deaths of six persons.

Confirming Monday’s incident, the National President of Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Mr. Sunday Abdu, indicted the soldiers attached to the Special Task Force (STF), saying the soldiers had gathered the villagers for the suspected herdsmen to kill.

He said the soldiers had gathered the victims in a primary school in the village to protect them from incessant attacks in the area, adding that while the soldiers occupied one classroom that they use as their operational base, the women and children occupied the next classroom.
“How then did the attackers come and kill the women and children without the soldiers knowing. It is either that the soldiers are conniving with the attackers to annihilate our people or they ran away and left our people to their fate.

“It is even more worrisome that the same local government is under a curfew imposed on it by the state government,” Abdu said.
Reacting to latest attack Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari said he received with deep sadness and regret, news of the killings which have been described as a reprisal perpetrated by suspected herdsmen.

Buhari, in a statement by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said: “This madness has gone too far.”
Shehu said the president instructed the military and the police to not only bring the violence to an instant end, but to draw up a plan to ensure that there are no further attacks and reprisals by one group against the other.

“President Buhari is devoted to the sanctity of Nigeria’s unity and he encourages Nigerians of all groups to learn to live together in peace and harmony,” Shehu said.
The president’s spokesman added that the president commiserated with the governor and people of Plateau State, and with those who lost their loved ones, friends and family.
“May God comfort them as only He can,” Buhari was quoted to have said.

Also reacting to the attack, the senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly, Jonah David Jang, said he was sad to hear about the “incessant violent killings going on in Bassa allegedly perpetrated by herdsmen who have become the usual suspects in this kind of coordinated attacks in the state and others in the Middle-Belt”.

“The attack on Taagbe village, the failed attack on Nzoruvho village on Saturday, October 14th, 2017, and the most recent one on Nkiedonwhro in the early hours of yesterday (Monday), where more than 20 persons were alleged to have been killed, are condemnable no matter the justification.
“Notably, these attacks prove that the method of response adopted by the Plateau State governor is not working especially considering the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on Bassa Local Government Area on Friday.

“There is therefore the need for the state government to critically reconsider its strategy for the good of our people,” Jang, who is the immediate past governor of the state, said.
A former Commissioner for Information in the state, Mr. Yakubu Dati, added that the attack was condemnable, considering that the state governor had taken several measures, including the establishment of the Plateau Peace Agency and deployment of resources to assist the security agents to carry out their duties effectively.
“We can only call on the state government to reinvigorate the process that is already on ground,” he said.

Also commenting on the massacre, the member representing Jos North/Bassa federal constituency, Mr. Suleiman Kwande, called on the federal government to investigate the killings in the primary school while under the watch of the security operatives.
Kwande described the attack as unfortunate, particularly now that peace has returned to the state after decades of violence.

“The new spate of killings of innocent people in Bassa Local Government Area in recent times is very unfortunate and disheartening. The natives of the locality in the last few weeks have suffered unprovoked attacks that resulted in the killing of innocent people.
“I call on the federal government to set up a committee to investigate the fresh killings of innocent persons, including children, women, men and the aged in a primary school where they were taking refuge,” he said.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tyopev Terna, said he could not comment on the attack, as he had not been briefed by his Divisional Police Officer in Bassa.
But the Director General of Plateau Peace Agency, Mr. Joseph Lengman, said the state government was slated to hold a security meeting Monday and would make its stance known after the meeting.
When contacted, the military Special Task Force (STF), codenamed Operation Safe Haven, said it would investigate the involvement of soldiers on duty at the Nkiedonwhro when the villagers were attacked.

The commander of the task force, Major General Anthony Atolagbe, who revealed this when he went for on-the-spot assessment of the school, said the soldiers were sent to the headquarters of the task force for proper investigation on how the attack took place in the village under their watch, especially since a curfew was imposed on the village and there was supposed to be restriction on movement.

Meanwhile, after the mass burial for the victims, the villagers called on the state government to vacate the curfew, as it was needless and had failed to serve its purpose.
They also demanded to know how the attackers found their way from the mountains to the village when there was a curfew and movement restriction.
THISDAY gathered that Governor Simon Lalong is slated to visit the area Tuesday to commiserate with the people.

Omooba77:
and the administration has no plan to go into massive borrowing that it cannot sustain.

Adeosun spoke at a press conference marking the conclusion of the 2017 World Bank/International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings in Washington DC, United States.

She said, “Nigeria’s debt-to-Gross Domestic Product ratio is one of the lowest actually. It is about 19 per cent. Most advanced countries have over 100 per cent. I am not saying we want to move to 100 per cent. But I’m saying we need to tolerate a little bit more debt in the short term to deliver roads, rail, and power.

“That, in itself, will generate economic activities and jobs, which will then generate revenue which will be used to pay back (the loans). It is a strategic decision that as a country we have to make.”

She added, “What I will assure you is that this government is very prudent around debt. We don’t borrow recklessly. We have no intention of bequeathing unserviceable debts to Nigerians. What we are simply trying to do is to ensure that we create enough headroom to invest in the capital projects that the country desperately needs.

“I don’t think any Nigerian will argue with us that we don’t need to invest in power. There is no Nigerian who will argue that we don’t need to do the roads. There is no Nigerian who is honest who will tell us that we don’t have 17 million units housing deficit. So, our vision for Nigeria is not for us to continue hobbling as a poor nation. That is the message I took to the meetings yesterday. We are a middle-income country. By classification, Nigeria, Angola and South Africa are middle-income countries. So, we have to benchmark ourselves against those who wish to join and to do that, we have to fix our infrastructure. We will do it jointly and as efficiently as possible. But the key is revenue.”

However, the minister said that the Ministry of Finance had rejected loan requests by some state governments to ensure the country had good debt sustainability figure.

She also said the Federal Government had a strategic plan to reduce borrowing and this was why the government had embarked on various tax mobilisation initiatives including the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration, which she noted was gaining traction.

She also noted that plans were underway to get the National Assembly’s approval to refinance some of the naira debts into external borrowing.

On why the country had to borrow, Adeosun said, “If we think back at the problem that we faced, it will be very important to put this in context. Our principal source of revenue plummeted by up to 85 per cent. So, we had two choices: You either reduce public services massively, which would have meant massive job losses or you borrow in the short term until you can begin to generate revenue.

“As the All Progressives Congress (the ruling party), we felt laying off thousands of people was not the way to stimulate the economy. Also, when we came into office, about 27 state governments could not pay salaries. If we had allowed that situation to persist, we would have been in depression now.

“So, we took the view that as a government the best for us to do was to stimulate the demand and spend our way out of trouble. Let the state government pay salaries, make sure the Federal Government can pay salary and invest in capital projects to get people back to work. Once growth is restored, you can now begin to systematically reduce short dependence on borrowing and increase revenue.”

Interesting.

My advice is simple. The parents rushing to pick up their kids from school, believing the military wants to inject their kids, should also enrol in the same school with their kids after all these drama.

It shows they not only lack common sense, but that they too like their kids, needs some formal kind of education.

What does the military stand to gain harming the citizenry?and just like i told somebody yesterday. You will think with the constant complaint about the Military in Nigeria, that it is only populated by the Northerners and that there are no other tribes inside.

Anybody that has lived close to a Military formation/base knows the military conduct these exercises to civilians from time to time. From free Vaccinations, to checking of BP to eye treatments and one time they even shared Condoms along the streets.

But no,Buhari is President and wants to kill all Southerners.

Some years ago. I think Goodluck Jonathan was the President then(i stand to be corrected), 84 Northern Kids were killed when a fake teething medication(MY PIKIN) was sold to their parents who gave their kids to consume.

A Yoruba man (Adeyemo) and an Edo man (Eromosele)were both convicted and sent to jail for it. I did not read anywhere that Jonathan was trying to kill Northerners, since the makers of the drugs are Southerners.

We should stop viewing everything this Government does as evil. It is not healthy for us.

Mynd44 and Lalasticlacla what is your opinion?
The truth is that the people of the South South n East see NA as enemy because of the bitter experience they have had with NA in the past. They have no trust in them and that's why they can take any rumour concerning NA to be true. I believe there should have been proper sensitization before such exercise would be carried out. They should better suspend it for now.

IPOB: Lethal weapons recovered from Kanu’s residence, says Abia CP
Published October 12, 2017

PUNCH

The Commissioner of Police in Abia, Mr Anthony Ogbizi, has said that lethal weapons, including petrol bombs and one double-barrel gun, were recovered during last Sunday’s raid on the residence of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Ogbizi told newsmen on Thursday that the items were recovered during a joint operation by security personnel in the state.

He said that the petrol bombs were found in buckets and incriminating documents and letters, concerning IPOB’s activities and plans, were also recovered during the raid.

He said that the raid was carried out based on an intelligence report, regarding the continued activities of some members of the group.

Ogbizi said, “We recovered many of Biafra’s insignia, a staff of office and some of those items are being analysed.”

The police boss said that the operation also led to the arrest of one suspected member of IPOB.

He said that the team also discovered the telephone numbers of the group’s zonal coordinators adding that all the communications between the leadership of the group and their collaborators would be thoroughly analysed.

Ogbizi said that a Biafran flag was also found hanging on a telecommunications mast in the area.

According to him, the police will ask the Nigeria Communications Commission to sanction any telecommunication company that allowed its mast to be used to host Biafran flags.

He said that the activities of IPOB in the Southeast were “stirring insurrection” and that security agencies would not fold their arms and watch the group foment violence in the country.

He said that members of the group allegedly set a police station and van ablaze in Aba, and also attacked a military patrol team in Umuahia.

The police chief said that similar joint operations would be carried out intermittently in Kanu’s residence, anytime they received intelligence report that offensive weapons were brought to the place.

He said that it was wrong to say that the military was taking over the duties of the police rather the action should be seen as a synergy between the two organisations to check security challenges.

Ogbizi said that he would not hesitate to invite the army anytime the security situation in the state grew beyond the capacity of the police.

alobispot:
Catalan sports minister insists Barca, Espanyol and Girona will have to decide where they want to play after La Liga chief maintains they cannot be part of Spain's top flight if the region goes it alone.
Barcelona could end up plying their trade in the English Premier League if Catalonia wins independence, according to the region's sports minister.

The claim was made after La Liga president Javier Tebas insisted that Catalan clubs would not be allowed to play in Spain's top flight should the region vote to go it alone.

Sunday's referendum has been declared illegal by the Spanish government and ballot boxes have been seized with prime minister Mariano insisting the referendum “won't happen”.

There is strong support for independence among Catalonia's 7.5m population – including from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola - but parties loyal to Spain are boycotting the vote.

Among the many uncertainties is what will happen to the region's football clubs, including Barca, if Catalonia becomes a new country.
Gerard Figueras, Catalonia's minister of sport, said;

“In the case of independence, Catalan teams in La Liga – Barcelona, Espanyol and Girona – will have to decide where they want to play: in the Spanish league or a neighbouring country: Italy, France or the Premier League.

“Now in Spain there teams from other countries who play in national leagues: clubs from Andorra in football and basketball. Monaco plays in France, in England Welsh clubs. I don't think that UEFA has anything against seeing another club play in a different league from their country.”

Spain have insisted Barcelona will not be allowed to play in La Liga if the illegal vote goes through.

La Liga president Javier Tebas said;

“In sport, it isn't a la carte and things must be clearly stated. It isn't easy to have an agreement and study Spanish legislation but if they (Catalan clubs) do get that, then they will not be able to play in Spain's La Liga, but I hope it doesn't come to that."

PoliticsRe: "Paid" Protesters Harass USA At Their Embassy In Abuja Over IPOB by ozimec(m): 10:48pm On Sep 28, 2017
Kazim88:
Protesters drawn from various civil society organizations, Thursday, stormed the United States of America’s Embassy in Abuja over the alleged support of the country for the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Speaking at the protest ground, Comrade Richard Augustine, National Coordinator of the protesting group, Stand Up For Peace Movement, said it was annoying that a spokesperson for the US Embassy in Abuja publicly came out to counter the Nigerian government for labeling IPOB as a terrorist group.
Augustine said, “People of the world, let it be known that we respect the United States, US, a lot. We will therefore not want to believe stories that certain persons in the US Mission in Nigeria have been funding the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, for the twisted intent to destabilize our country.
“For the records, IPoB was declared a terrorist organization by the order of a competent Federal High Court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This order was properly captured as the “Terrorism (Prevention) (Proscription Order) Notice, 2017” as contained in Volume 104 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Official Gazette.
“We, therefore, wonder when Nigeria became a colony of the United States of America for its diplomat to be insinuating that the laws of Nigeria amount to nothing if they are not domesticated as US laws.
“It even more ridiculous that the US Embassy was here in Nigeria all the time IPoB and it’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu, saturated and suffocated the public space with hate speech and did not seem it fit to urge restraint. We know the US Outpost was monitoring the situation and would add the sin of habitual lies to it’s long list of transgressions if it claims otherwise.
“The Embassy was there when Kanu and IPoB bragged about possessing nuclear weapons that could decimate a third of Nigeria and it looked the other way even though we all know the same country would froth in the mouth each time North Korea and nuclear weapon occur in the same sentence.
“We suspect that the $500 Million Syrian Train and Equip Program of the US is connected with the container load of firearms that the Nigerian Customs Service has intercepted in recent months. In a little under eight months, Customs has intercepted over 4,000 shotguns and rifles shipped from Turkey – around the same area where the US programmes was being implemented. The similarity is haunting because the same way the US refused to see the killers in the Middle-East as terrorists as it called them “moderate rebels” it is also recognizing IPoB terrorists by another name.
“These are terrorists that have openly boasted in online fora about how the US will supply them arms so it is no surprise that arms shipments are arriving Nigeria from Turkey, a US ally and that this same country is saying the intended recipients of these arms are not terrorists. It must also be recalled that Nnamdi Kanu solicited for arms from IPoB US-based members.
“We would therefore wish that the United States would learn from its serial misadventure in meddlesomeness. Vietnam Bay of Pigs, Cuba Contras in Latin America, Taliban in Afghanistan, Iranian debacle, Iraqi disaster, a contrived Arab Spring,?Libyan descent into chaos, Yemeni meltdown, Syrian logjam, Ukranian farce and now the IPOB in Nigeria after defeating Boko Haram. The ongoing North-Korean miasma. And an endless stream of failed interventions should have all taught the US to stay out of meddling with sovereign entities.

PoliticsRe: I Am Igbo And I Support Operation Python Dance 100% by ozimec(m): 10:49am On Sep 14, 2017
Udmaster:
Thank you buhari for bringing the military for operation python dance in south east,
lets put an end to this stupidity by ipob led by that UNN dropout called Nnamdi Kanu,
a restructured Nigeria is the best for Igbos,
this senseless agitation for Biafra will attract war and Igbos have no support to face such a thing now,
even the Niger deltans will deny us and start singing ONE NIGERIA when the war start,
they are not in support of any Biafra, stop hoping in False sense of solidarity!
ipob is sponsored by opposition party to disrupt buhari administration,
Igbos wake up! War is looming
Why will Igbos who are found in every corner of the nation choose breaking away to restructuring?
Now there are crisis here and there, if the north retaliate, do you know how many Igbos that will be killed ?
Why cant Ipob reason with their brain?
Thank you Buhari for the operation python dance,
please the court should hurry up and give an arrest order on kanu so that the evil opposition agent Kanu will be arrested?
What about our investments all over nigeria, it will be seized all over, and Igbos will start from scratch to built again,
why making things difficult for ourselves?
seccesion is war because this is Africa,
and who are you secceeding with?
Remember the ijaws, ogonis, urhobos, itsekiris, ibibios, efiks etc have warned you guys to count them out of biafra map,
go and start war and watch them dancing ONE NIGERIA
Abum nwa afo Igbo,
a restructure Nigeria, o ga akara anyi nm,ka ria ndufu kanu ne edufu nyi
ndewo nu
..and you think that this present Govt will restructure the country?. There's nothing wrong with agitation as long as it's done within the ambit of the law. Agitation for self determination is allowed all over the world. IPOB agitation led by KANU has been peaceful and everyone knows that. There are things that lead to this agitation and if FG wants the agitation to end, he should address those issues or restructure the country to true federalism if not, he should allow the agitators to exercise their rights. Let's stop running away from the truth. You can never use intimidation to quench agitation. This is the sole reason the issue of Niger Delta is still lingering till now. Nobody wants to fight, all we all want is to have a country we can be proud of, a country where everyone will be treated equally etc. We all know the part of the country that needs all kinds of military presence and their operational mode names like python dance and the rest but definitely not the south eastern part. Nobody can stop the agitation with military intimidation but, a simple dialogue can do that.

even yesterday kanu threat Nigeria that any attempt of his arrest will lead to death!
Also threat there won't be any election as from now in SE/SS!
what evidence you want?
You didn't show me any evidence to buttress your earlier points you raised concerning the present election threats made by the Igbos . Now you have raised another point talking about KANU.?

pls stop been biased!
igbo promised Nigeria war should Nigerian voted out gej from office, and they started carrying out their threat as early as Buhari came to power, Nigerian take it for joke until they brought the economy down, threat all foreign investors and chase them away blame Buhari for everything and frustrated the effort of government in all form of sabotage, political, economics and social, every body calls igbo to diplomacy but to deaf ear!
So when Nigerian see igbo can never back down, it's then They counter challenge them, when igbo realized Nigerian is no longer joking now igbo were seeking international right protection!
That's what's in the book of record!
don't rewrite history!
Hahahahahahaha..... Honestly, you will make it as a comedian. Pls can you show documented evidence of any of these your claims?

By the time all Nigerian were trying to to avoid another blood shed in this country, igbo is digging deep to find anything that will bring war.
Nnamdi kanu ipob provocation on the government and Nigeria nation is continue non-stop, which lead to the Arewa quit notice, and the effort of the government and leaders to calm de jeux, still igbo is bring out another system of not only provocation but threat to the country.
among of these:-
i. Barrister Vincent Egechukwu Obetta, on behalf the Igbo ethnic group resident in northern Nigeria, filed three lawsuits against Alhaji Yerima Shettima for alleged “treasonable notice,” amongst other crimes.

Barr. Obetta, in a statement he signed, named other respondents in the suits as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Federal Government of Nigeria.

He declared "If they fail to arrest him he would proceed to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Holland, to press Criminal Charges against (i) Alh Yerima Shettima (ii) The IGP (iii) The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) as the Chief Law Officer of Nigeria (iv) Prof Ango Abdullahi and (v) Prof Yemi Osinbajo as the Ag. President of Nigeria when the 06/06/2017 of Aiding and Abetting a second Genocide against the Ndigbo in the North.

ii. Lawyer from United States law firm, Fein & DelValle PLLC, have filed a suit against Major-General TY Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff; Mr. Willie Obiano, governor of Anambra State; Mr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia State governor and 13 others in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.

So the questions are;
if those people taken to court guilty and arrested can igbo still living in those region peacefully?
if the Arewa youths arrested as igbo wish can those igbo in the north rest in peacefully now?
Why igbo still believe they can retaliate the past civil war on Nigeria?
If you think very well before typing this you will know that The Igbos have been very peaceful even in the face of all the injustice, marginalization and subjugation meted on them over the years. Now the Nigeria government has blatantly refused to address any of these plights until now that the Igbos are seeking for self-determination which is backed by any known law that you're accusing them of looking for2nd civil war.

Ask questions...

"They argued that actions of the defendants in the suit amounted to crimes against humanity, which could be prosecuted in any jurisdiction in the world.
"Indeed, the Convention Against Torture mandates that signatory nations like the United States and Nigeria prosecute the crimes of torture or extrajudicial killings," the lawyers stated"

Olusegun Obasanjo says what Nigeria needs now is not restructuring of the country but that of individual mentality - He claimed he is not in support of restructuring agitation

The former president however called on Nigerians to understand their country as he distanced himself from ongoing calls for the country's restructuring by some Nigerians home and abroad.

Obasanjo who made this known on the sidelines of the just concluded African leadership forum in Johannesburg said Nigerians should restructure their minds before calling for restructuring of the country.
Rejecting the popular call for restructuring of the country simply because, it's been champion by his sworn enemy , Atiku. Smh
