Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, has tasked the Federal Government to trace innovators of the defunct Biafra who are still alive for them to deploy their technological know-how towards the nation’s drive for industrialisation.
The Minister regretted that the nation failed to take advantage of the great innovations propelled by the three-year war, which ended in 1970, by making use of those he described as great minds that sustained the then Biafra army.
Shittu, who spoke at the commissioning of Technology Orientation Centre, built by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), at Idu, Abuja, yesterday, urged the agency to go beyond the elite environment and trace these innovators, most of whom did not even have university education.
He also lamented Nigeria’s over dependence on import even for its daily needs, and tasked the agency to do something urgently to close the gap.
“I recall that during the civil war, we had so many innovators from Nnewi and other parts of eastern region then. So many people, who didn’t have university education, developed so many technological infrastructure in the East. But it looks like after the war, they were forgotten. I think Nigeria should look for these great minds that may not have had university education but in terms of innovativeness, they sustained to a great deal the then Biafra Republic Army.
“I think that NASENI should move beyond the elite environment and look for these people who I believe are going to add great value to what NASENI has been doing.
“Again, there is need for us to start challenging ourselves. Number one, up till today, toothpicks are still imported; serviette papers are still being imported. Up till today, so many small things are still imported into Nigeria. It’s not enough for us to look for the big targets in terms of engineering infrastructure. I think we should not leave behind those small items that we need on daily basis.
These are things that ordinarily if we have them produced locally, will be patronised by virtually every Nigerian. I will suggest that our immediate target like the President has always said, is that we should produce what we eat,” he stated.
Also, Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu said that the centre will help entrepreneurs, researchers and innovators gain greater access to the necessary processes that will fast track the commercialisation of inventions using local technologies.
He added that it will complement the cardinal objective of the Presidential Executive Order No. 5 which seeks to promote self-reliance in the process of national rebirth through enhanced industrial capacity, especially in the areas of new and emerging technologies.
Onu asserted that no nation had ever become truly great without science and technology expressed the optimism that the centre would play critical role in strengthening the nation’s onward march to a new dawn where science, technology and innovation will drive development efforts.

The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), says the N13m allowances being received by senators is only a tip of the iceberg as Nigerians will be shocked when he releases details of the allowances of the principal officers of the National Assembly.
Sagay said this during an interview with our correspondent.
The PACAC chairman was responding to revelations by the lawmaker representing Kaduna-Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, that senators receive N700,000 monthly and a separate N13.5m as running costs.
Sagay, who has for several years accused federal lawmakers of receiving outrageous allowances, said principal officers of the National Assembly, including the Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker, Deputy Speaker and the majority and minority leaders of both chambers, are receiving far more than what Sani revealed.
The senior advocate said the polity might explode when he released the details of their allowances.
He said, “There are many things the press doesn’t know yet. If you come to know the allowances that the leadership of the two houses are getting… My God! It will blow up the country. What is the Senate President getting? It is not the ordinary N13m.
“What does he get as Senate President? What is the leader of the House getting, what is the deputy leader of the House getting? What is the Deputy Senate President getting? What are the minority leaders getting in both houses? Go and find out. It is an explosive stuff, I tell you. Eventually, I will come out with the figures. I am working on them now. When I am ready, I will come out with them.”
Sagay lambasted spokesman for the Senate, Senator Abdullahi Sabi, for saying that the N13.5m allowances were already in the public domain.
The PACAC chairman said it was hypocritical of the lawmakers to have berated him last year when he released details of their allowances.
He added that Sani’s revelation was at variance with the details released by Saraki last year.
He added, “What they released then was their salaries which the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission approved for them. What they are hiding now are the allowances they voted for themselves.
“The salary details released was just about N700,000 but what they voted for themselves is about 20 times that amount. That is the whole point and they were hiding it.
“I came out with the figures last year and they wanted to cut off my neck and now it has come out in the open and Sabi Abdullahi is saying it is nothing new but you were denying it in the past. So, they have a guilty conscience because they know what they are doing is shameful.”
Meanwhile, the Movement for the Actualisation of a Sovereign State of Biafra on Sunday commended Sani for exposing the wages of Nigerian senators.
In a statement by the MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, the group said providence would bless Sani for exposing his colleagues.
The Biafra agitators described other senators as “criminal lions.”
The statement partly read, “MASSOB hails Senator Sani representing Kaduna Central in exposing his fellow distinguished criminal lions roaring in the National Assembly of the Nigerian state.
“MASSOB sees the Nigerian parliament, mostly the senators, as market men and women who always see the National Assembly as a business market where they only make billions of monetary profit without investments.
“The majority of these National Assembly businessmen and women are so insensitive and shameless in their dealings with the people of their senatorial districts.
“It is only in Nigeria that a senator will openly without shame donate a gas cooker with frying pan or grinding machines and other useless materials unbefitting of a country’s senator to the few people of his senatorial constituents as an empowerments incentives.
“Nigerian parliamentarians lack innovative empowerments in education, healthcare, economy and technology. They have no visions, intentions or programmes for the poor.”
The group added, “Most worrisome is that the majority of these senators do not exist in the Senate chambers; they only exist during election campaigns or ceremonial functions.
“Most of them are glorified laymen with no qualitative educational background, a man without a good academic insight and exposures as a senator can never be fruitful to his nation.”

I deliberately decided to stay away from commenting on this forum for a while as a result of loads of unproductive threads been created on a daily basis with zero value in anything you can think off but this thread worths my time and impute because it is the type of thread that will really impact positively on so many rational beings out there that comes in contact with this thread.
A friend from this forum back in Nigeria reached out to me sometimes last week about what he can do for himself this year so as to make himself globally marketable and I told him point blank what I did and encouraged him to do so as well by researching on any subsets fields in IT that has zero prerequisite to learn which means you don't need any prior IT background for you to start learning.
There are lots of online IT training and resources one can utilize and get started, everything must not be in a classroom settings, you can learn through live online classes or go through self paced trainings where all the materials and video recordings of everything you need to know are presented to you and you can access them and study at your own pace.
YouTube is also a global University where u can learn anything for free then go and sit for the certification exams and get certified once you pass the exams but I'm a huge advocate for paid learning which is one way to treasure and value the knowledge you sort for.
My current work schedule only allows me to take a self paced training which I am currently utilizing for my TABLEAU DESKTOP/SERVER Training which is a 360° switch in career and it might interest whoever reading this piece to know that I have zero background in the IT field.
The cost for this training I'm currently undergoing is so little compared to the value I'm getting from what I'm learning.
It is a 40hr course with 80hours real life organization problems which is equivalent to 6months - 1 year work experience which will be in your resume once you are done and pass the TABLEAU DESKTOP & SERVER certification exams.
I'm not going to post the link to the training site here except if the Creator of this thread authorizes me to do so and the link comes with a 20% discount for the training fee.
I did made turns of online research which I started in the month of September 2017 on what IT field to venture into in 2018 so as to move up the food chain which also has lots of job openings.
I narrowed my options to Linux System or Network administration, Cyber security or go into medical coding and while I was almost settling for Linux System Admin, I came across TABLEAU Associates which will lead to one becoming a Certified TABLEAU PROFESSIONAL.
I researched about the nature of the job, job availabilities and their median annual salaries and "BOOM" I became curious and excited at the same time.
I was curious because I have never heard of TABLEAU before so I was like "which one be this one again" and my excitement was the opportunity to learn something new, that has lots of global job opportunities and the prospect of commanding a fat annual salary once certified. ( More tax refunds -lol )
Do not follow anyone's recommendations, do your own thorough research and make an informed decision based on your research on what route best suits you.
While in Nigeria, I was programmed to believe that you must have a basic background in something before you can learn it and Once I left the shore's of Nigeria, I found out that such thinking wasn't only misleading but also the highest form of ignorance being flagrantly posited as truth.
You can learn anything you set up your mind to learn, the only thing you need is the will power to get started, then the dedication to see it through and keep advancing.

The leadership of APC Youths Renaissance has reacted to the scathing remarks made against President Muhammadu Buhari by the General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare.
The group said Pastor Bakare has formed the habit of constantly criticizing the government without providing single solution to the numerous problems facing the country.

These were my thoughts initially too but I have since decided to look at the matter from another perspective.
In Ibadan, I am a leading Suleiman antagonist. When the “apostle” came to University of Ibadan last year April, I led a one man protest against him; for which I was arrested and later released. I have since documented my position against the so called apostle of Christ and I shall not be rehearsing those here.
Suffice to say, however, that observers of the religious scene in Nigeria have noticed a sudden wave of confessions and apologies and forgiveness that seem to be following the numerous cases of Pastors’ philandering. Just last week, Kemi Olunloyo was also videoed pleading for David Ibiyeomi to forgive her. I am convinced the whole thing is scripted.
But let me make my point clear on it still...
The issues that I have with Nigerian Pentecostal Pastors is not primarily in regards to what they do but rather what they preach. Their actions are simply products of the false gospel they propagate. So whether or not they are caught in scandals, they are not absolved from the sure damnation that shall come upon them and those who listen to them.
While the gospel of prosperity is damnable heresy, Nigerian Pentecostal preachers have taken the teaching to an extent that will make its American inventors cringe in shame. The worst part of this all is that they are exporting this so called gospel en-masse to foreign countries; and the worst kind of churches you want to attend abroad are “Nigerian Churches”.
Regardless of whether these Pastors are caught in scandals or not, what they preach is already a scandalous gospel and it is doing their listeners and this nation no good. These preachers must be called what they are: false prophets.
By the way, there is massive billboard of David Ibiyeomi just erected close to Awolowo Junction, at the heart of Ibadan. It informs Ibadan resident that “Salvation Ministries” has come to the city; so go to that church to your own souls’ peril.
Do I regret protesting Suleiman?
I do not. I would likely not carry out a protest in such a fashion again but I am thankful that I did what my heart instructed me to do that day and I am grateful to God for keeping me through the process of making that statement.
The fact remains that in April 2017, some weight allegations were being bandied against a man. My protest bordered essentially against those who permitted him to come to minister to young minds. What if he was guilty as alleged? Then he would have polluted the spirit of those young people with his perverse spirit. It is bad enough that he preaches a false gospel; should he also combine it all with a perverse spirit?
I am convinced that in the days to come, the real drama behind all these so called confessions shall be unveiled. But regardless of what is unveiled: there are pastors in this Pentecostal churches who will do two things, some of them will never be caught in a scandal; others will be involved in scandals but will cover it all up. But none of them will escape the judgement of the Most High God.

However, their righteousness is of the LORD and not of any man, according to the above scripture, God is the one who will judge them accordinly at the end. In Romans 14:4 it says " who art thou that judges another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand." Even the Apostles of old, many of them derailed at one point to another but, through His grace many of them still made it while some could not. However, if you're true believer please, pray for your pastor always even, Apostle Paul asked the Corinthians for prayers. So, pray for your pastor. |

3. Local govt should be scrapped and be removed from Nigeria constitution. Let every states decide how to manage it's communities.
4. State police should be created.
5. Independent candidates be approved for election if they meets INEC conditions.
6. States share of revenue allocation should increase while that of federal govt should reduce.
7. Some states should be allow to merge. No additional states should be created.
8.State of origin and local govt of origin be abolished and to be replace with place of residence.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said insulting leaders on social media will not change how things are in Nigeria.
In a statement on his official Facebook page, the governor advised youth who wish to chase old people from power to join a party and participate in the process.
He said, ”Young people think insulting leaders on social media will change the way things are in Nigeria.
”No one would hand over the mantle of leadership to you simply because you’re young.
”If you want to chase “old people” from positions of power, you must join a party and participate in the process no matter how bad, dirty and dangerous you think it is.”

The Niger Delta militants have warned Fulani herdsmen to steer clear of of the region.
They also vowed to deal with any Niger Delta governor who allowed cattle colony.
The Coalition of militants gave the warning yesterday in Port Harcourt Rivers State while listing a number of oil fields and installations as targets for resumed attacks if the Federal Government failed to address specific grievances agitating the region.
The militant groups gave the Fulani herdsmen one month to the vacate the region or face dire consequences.
Those that signed the resolution included, John Duku (Niger Delta Watchdogsand Convener, Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators; Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteers), Osarolor Nedam (Niger Delta Warriors) and Simply Benjamin (Bakassi Strike Force).
The groups gave the Federal Government a 90-day ultimatum to implement restructuring and resource control, return oil blocs in the region to the Niger Delta people and ensure relocation of the oil & gas companies headquarters to the region.
It said, “Otherwise, there would be no one Nigeria. We shall officially declare Niger Delta Republic after 90 days, if the Federal Government fails to implement the above demands.
“We also demand that all the Northerners living in the Niger Delta to quit the region if the Federal Government fails to implement the above demands within the stipulated time.
“We also call on our people living in the North to also return to the Niger Delta for their safety.
“Our principal targets are Usan, Ima, Okoro/Setu and Asabo oil fields, Okwok, Asuokpu/Umutu fields, OML 112, OML 117, Ebok, Obe oil field, Akpo, OPL 215, 840, OPL 733, 809, 810, 722, 905, 246, 110, 112, 117 etc, other facilities also marked by our strike team are Total Nigeria Ltd, Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Intels and Adax Petroleum” On the menace of herdsmen, the group said,
“The massive killings all over the country by Fulani herdsmen are fully sponsored by top government functionaries, especially the security chiefs, who supply them with weapons with sole aim of achieving cattle colony and Islamic agenda.
“The idea of having cattle colony was already in the mind of President Buhari before he contested the 2015 election. The whole world can now see the reason he appointed all security chiefs from the North, including DG of NIA, who is supposed to be replaced by someone from the South.
“The Coalition believes that the killings by the Fulani herdsmen are direct invitation to civil war and we are fully prepared to fight with the last drop of blood to protect the Niger Delta people and her territorial environment.
“The Coalition also condemns the endorsement of the President as APC candidate for 2019 election by some self-centered governors and politicians. Those calling on President Buhari to seek re-election are the real enemies of Nigeria.
“A government that launched ‘Operation Crocodile Smile I & II’ in the Niger Delta, despite the peaceful atmosphere, in the region.
“Operation Python Dance I & II” in the South East destroyed people and properties just to silence IPOB and further declare a non-violent IPOB as terrorist organization.
“It would suddenly turn deaf ears on terrorist activities of Fulani herdsmen taking place all over the country on daily basis. We shall no longer tolerate any further bloodshed within the Niger Delta states by the terrorists Fulani herdsmen.
“We shall ensure that our people are protected from every Fulani terrorist; it is very unfortunate that the government that swore to protect the lives and properties of its citizens has suddenly become sectional government, and lacks powers to protect the masses.
“And we warn that any Niger Delta governor that accepts cattle colony would be dealt with as the enemy of the Niger Delta. We don’t want Fulanis among us, they are our enemies.”
