Education is key to the development of any society. In Nigeria today, the level of education across the country is not the same. See the most educated states in Nigeria. Find out if your state is among them.
There are thirty-six states and the Federal Capital Territory in Nigeria. The level of education across all the thirty-six states is not the same. Education and the level of literacy in the northern states are still below the acceptable level for this 21st century.
States in the southern part of Nigeria are more educated. There are more standard schools and higher institutions in some of these states. The literacy level i.e. the number of people who can read and write especially women is also higher in the southern states.
Some of these states have also produced most of the scholars and professors in Nigeria today. According to these criteria and based on National University Commission statistics, we believe these are the top 5 most educated states in Nigeria:
Imo Delta Anambra Osun Ogun
You might not totally agree with this ranking but these are just our views based on statistical data.
These states we believe are sure among the most educated. We hope that very soon the list will include more Nigerian states as a result of the growth of the education level in the country. We always believe in better.
PrettyCrystal: Guess the rodents will not have a place to invade again. Work has begun in earnest at the presidential villa in Abuja following the return of president Muhammadu Buhari. It was reported that the president will work from home after rodents damaged his official office during a more than 100-day overseas medical absence.
According to the president's media adviser Garba Shehu, the animals damaged furniture and air conditioning fittings in the president’s official Abuja office while he was in London receiving treatment.
Now, work has begun in major parts at the Aso Rock Villa.
DickDastardLION: The Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr Femi Adesina, has defended the President’s decision to cancel the Federal Executive Council Meeting on Wednesday.
A statement by Mr Adesina in the morning announced the decision but gave no reason for the cancellation of the meeting which would have been the first attended by the President after his return from a more-than-100 days medical vacation.
Asked about the decision in a telephone interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the presidential spokesman said there was nothing to it and that concerns about its implications were uncalled for.
“There is no law that says the Federal Executive Council meeting should hold every week. There is no law that says it must be weekly. Under a past administration, it used to hold once every two weeks,” he said.
“So, there is no law that says it should hold every Wednesday. It depends on what you have on the agenda to discuss. The President is the Chairman of that meeting. So, he has the discretion to hold or not to hold (the meeting).”
President Buhari’s decision to cancel the meeting had led to more questions about his fitness to resume work and carry out his duties effectively.
On Tuesday, news that he would be working from home because rodents had damaged items in his office and that it was under renovation caused a stir and went viral on the social media.
But Mr Adesina dismissed the concerns, saying that the President is strong enough to perform his duties and that the office in his home and the one in his office complex were only a short distance apart in any case.
“The fact that FEC does not hold in one week does not mean anything significant because the President has the discretion to hold or not to hold FEC (meetings),” he said.
Asked if the cancellation of Wednesday’s meeting meant that FEC would no longer be meeting weekly, he said it wasn’t the case, before going on to say that the meeting had not held every week over time in the first case.
“That is not correct. It did not hold every week; when this administration began, it did not hold every week. And right from then, it had been understood that the FEC would hold as often as there are things to discuss,” Mr Adesina said.
Had today’s FEC meeting held and the President attended, it would have been the first he would be presiding over in more than three months.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who was the Acting President while he was away presided over the weekly meeting in his absence.
Professor Osinbajo also presided over the FEC meetings that the President missed before travelling to London.
Although he wanted us to date but I told him I dont do neighbor relationship, Infact street relationship I no do
And maybe he feels, am scared he will dump me after sexxx? Which is one paranoia I have as well. U know how guys are? After sexxx? They move on. I don't want such to happen to me on the same street. I will just die of shame! God!
So I made it clear to him, no dating. So he came up with marriage and he said I can ask people around, he's a good man and husband material.
My problem is ikorodu. I can marry a man am not in love with, as long as hes presentable, has a good job, and he cares for me and hes good, loving and faithful, I have no problem. With time I will fall in love. Love is overrated jare
I pray he doesn't take it to heart I said no
If only he had consult me before taking such drastic steps!
It would have been a different story. I would have gladly say yes! And hang my boots on dating, just focus on making my new family work! And also understand him too.
If only he asked for my opinion!
A potential husband slipping off my hands.
Cos hes indeed a gentle man.
Going by how you described him, I think he's a nice man and you liked him. However, relocating to Ikorodu may be a concern to you because of the prevalent insecurity in the area but, I don't think it's enough reason to reject a potential suitor. I understand he made a mistake of not consulting you before making such important decision since he had you in his plan but nevertheless, you guys can still sit down together and see how you can reach a compromise from both side. In relationship, some sacrifices must be made from both partner for it to work. Engage him in a sincere discussion about all your worries, I bet you you guys will strike a balance. Good luck.
If i may ask, Why is it that it's only the Northerners that always want the status quo to be maintained. Why are they always worried whenever the issue of restructuring or disintegration of this country is raised? What are they afraid of pls? Just asking
Nairalandsss: You are one of those people who think that marriage is a useless step in life. You think that life can be good minus marriage too. Then maybe you need to be aware of some good reasons as to why people get married. You are looking at substantial arguments to tell you that marriage is not that bad, after all. Here are some reasons that you should get married.
Reasons that why you should get married are:
1.You have a stable sex life: When you get married, you get the license to have sex with your husband whenever you want. You don’t have to feel guilty or ashamed about it, because both of you are in a happy, healthy relationship together, and having sex regularly is a part of it. Plus, with one loyal partner, there is no risk of STDs, as would be the case if you were single and having sexual encounters with various people.
2.You face low mortality risk: It has been proven by scientific research that married people are likely to have a longer life, as compared to single people. So if you love your life and want to lead a longer one, then marriage will affect your longevity directly. When you try and study this logic properly, you realize that marriage is the focal point to better health and wellness; as a result of which, people end up living longer.
3.You get lifelong companionship: Everyone likes to have that one stable friend to depend on for everything. With marriage, your husband becomes that stable friend for you. Irrespective of whatever good or bad happens in your life, he will be just a call away for you. And he too will never be able to move away from this position, because the bond of marriage will make him liable to be there for you, even if it means rescuing you from a road accident urgently, or leaving work to come wipe your tears when you’re in some problem.
4.Your standard of life improves: With marriage, your chances of moving out of a poor neighborhood to a better one increase. Moreover, since there are incomes of two people (you and your husband’s), focusing on one household, obviously your spending power and quality of life become better. Your husband too will take extra steps to get you good things because he will consider it to be his moral duty and responsibility.
.You get a new family: Marriage will make your husband’s family, your family. This means that you get a lot of new relationships to look at and enjoy. You enjoy the bliss of a bigger family, with more people to share your joys with. Festivals and occasions become more enjoyable, and there are more people who are concerned about your well being on a whole.
6.Your friend circle expands: When you are single, you can only do a limited amount of activities with your single friends. Your married friends would be interested in some other activities. However, when you get married, you can do the same activities as your other married friends. You can go on couple gatherings and trips. Plus, your husband’s friends will also become your friends, and so will their spouses, thereby expanding your friend circle. You get a more active social life, with great friends to look forward to.
7.You’re safe and secure for life: Marriage also makes you pretty safe and secure for your life. Your husband will make sure that there are some savings for you, even if he passes away. Moreover, you have him around in the same house, and so you don’t need to be scared about living alone. Plus, your parents are happy that you have a secure future, with a stable partner to take care of you.
8.It enriches you as a person: Marriage has the ability to make a person mature, smart and responsible. You also become more sensitive, understanding and supportive. In other words, you start to become a better person, who handles problems in a responsible way, and not immaturely. This is great for one’s overall personal growth.
9.Your chances of being successful in life are higher: With so many good things that marriage does to you, there is great mental peace and satisfaction that you attain. It’s because of this mental wellness, that you’re able to focus better on your work. Your concentration and efficiency increases, thereby helping you to get promotions at work. This way, your chances of being successful in life are pretty high. In fact, there have been several studies, which have proven that married professionals are more likely to perform better than single ones.
10.It gives a meaning to your life: Traditionally, marriage is a bond of commitment, and once you step into this phase of life, this relationship will add a new meaning to your life altogether. You know you are committed to someone, and that brings about a lot of changes in the way you deal with your partner, as well as your life. The tag of marriage brings about some discipline in your head, with some boundaries, and a list of dos and don’ts, which you are not likely to respect when you are not married to your partner.
obailala: Bro, the FG has abandoned properties all over Nigeria; nothing belonging to the government ever works in Nigeria and this issue is not restricted to the SE as has been advertised and advertised and promoted for so long. Speeches like yours which claims the problem exists mainly in the SE is the reason why there are many people keying into the agitations in the SE. When a message is preached over and over again, everybody gets to believe and even re-echo the message; but that does not necessarily make the message to be absolutely true. If you think the SE is the only area in Nigeria experiencing FG neglect, I would love to hear you mention any thing owned by the FG which works in other zones of Nigeria (besided Lagos and Abuja which happen to be FCTs).
Brother, I watched a documentary on tele about fertilizer companies around the geopolitical zone, SE was omitted. of course you know of the one in Kaduna. Like I said, I don't want to talk much on this because it's very evident. You can't disprove facts. Should I talk about the railway lines, Federal roads, I'm sure you're in touch with the fed.budget. I Hope you're aware that SE Senators protested last time and worked out of the chamber when the bill for SE deve billed was rejected and same bill was passed be the lower chamber. Let me also remind you that after the war, there was an agreement for reconciliation, rehabilitation and rebuilding but up till now, none of these agreements has been attended to.
obailala: What about all the other abandoned mills and factories that litter the length and breadth of Nigeria?.. What about the numerous abandoned textile mills across the north?... What about Ajaokuta steel plant etc? .. Is there even anything owned by govt which functions in any part of the country at all??... Going by your 'I AM A VICTIM' logic, I guess the FG also abandoned them all because the FG has no interest in any part of the country right?
Brother, I wouldnt want to open the canker worms of the abandoned Federal government properties and establishments in the SE because they are littered all over the places for everyone to see. I'm not ignorant of the fact that there are some abandoned fg establishment in some other parts of the country but, none can be compared to the state of infrastructural decay in the entire SE states. This is not an argument even, Osibanjo recognized this during the cause of his various visits in the area. Even the NASS knows about these and every well meaning Nigerians have spoken about this. Do you think that the agitation for secesion in the SE is without reasons? Do you think that the massive crowds of people you see following Nnamdi KANU are touts or jobless people or that they are beign paid? Do you think that the agitation is just political or that KANU is being sponsored? I don't want to talk much but one thing we need to understand is that if we claim to be one, we should be our brothers keeper. When the south is crying for justice because of marginalization, let the north join hand with the south to address the problem and when north is crying let the south lend their voice in support as well, that's the spirit of brotherhood. It is he who wear the shoe knows where and how it pinches him.
HisSexcellency: It is ashame that right before our eyes Nigeria has divided to an extent that we don't trust each other anymore. Everyone is concerned only about tribe, ethnicity and religion, not even about the state of the country.
There was a time we were all Nigerians, never yoruba, Hausa or Igbo. But all that is in the past now.
WHAT HAPPENED TO US
There was a time we had Nollywood as a body of film makers and actors in Nigeria, producing films that everyone loved and watched. Now we're so divided that Nollywood is now divided into Kallywood for the Hausa audience, Yollywood for the yorubas and another for Igbos. Why can't Nollywood be one and still produce movies to serve these diverse audience? What happened to the calabar man, Bini Man, Ijaw or Idoma people should they go ahead to create different "Woods" to soothe their audience.
India has over 1billion people yet there is just one Bollywood. America has over 250million people wilh a movie industry in existence for decades yet only one Hollywood.
WHAT HAPPENED TO US
There was a time we had "The Nigerian Governor's forum " as a single body of governor's in Nigeria under one leadership and agenda. Lucky igbinedion of edo state, bukola sarki, chibuike amaechi all chaired this body. But that was not enough for Nigeria, today we have northern governor's forum, southwest governor's forum, southeast governor's forum. No, we didn't stop there. We have apc governor's forum and pdp governor's forum.
WHAT IS HAPPENING TO US
The disunity in this country at the moment is epic and mind blowing for those who want to see it.
I'm glad you have noticed this. As it's now the only thing that can keep this country united is RESTRUCTURING, anything short of that is a waste of time.
Godson333: The Nigerian Police command in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja explained today why it broke the second day of protest by a group led by Charlyboy Oputa.
The group, which calls itself #Ourmumudondo had protested on Monday without hindrance by the police.
NPF we know you're lying but continue
But as the police explained, the protesters allowed hoodlums to infiltrate their rank today.
Here is the police statement:
The FCT Police Command in the early hours of today 8th August, 2017 intervened and prevented breakdown of law and order, and disturbance of public peace in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja by dispersing some miscreants, hoodlums and other criminal elements that have infiltrated the protest being carried out by a group of concerned Nigerians under the auspices of Our-Mumu-Don-do Movement at Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja.
It will be recalled that “Our-Mumu-Don-do Movement” carried out their protest on Monday 7th August, 2017 at the same venue and were accorded necessary Police presence to safe guard public safety and public peace, and protect their rights to freedom of expression, rights to peaceful Assembly and Association, and right to freedom of movement as provided for in sections 39, 40, and 41 of the 1999 constitution as amended.
However, today 8th August, 2017 the same group assembled at the same venue but allowed miscreants, hoodlums and other unruly individuals to infiltrate the protests, who started blocking the major roads adjoining the Unity fountain, obstructing traffic and preventing movements of other innocent citizens from going to their means of livelihood, and thereby exhibiting unruly behaviours and other violent acts very likely to cause the breakdown of law and order and disturbance of public peace. The Police personnel intervened at the point that the concerned Nigerians Group lost control of the crowd and prevented miscreants, hoodlums and other criminal elements from hijacking the protest to cause mayhem and chaos.
It is pertinent to state here that the FCT Police command is fully aware and recognizes the constitutional rights of every citizen including “ Our Mumu Dondo group” to assemble and move freely in any part of the Federal Capital Territory, but the command will not allow any protest under any guise to turn violent and jeopardise the prevailing peace, law and order currently being enjoyed in the FCT. The command wishes to assure all residents and visitors to the territory of adequate security and protection of lives and property of everyone including those who choose to express their constitutional rights of protest with decorum.
Consequently, members of the public, parents and guardians, religious/opinion leaders and other interest groups are advised to prevail on their children and wards, followers and adherents not to allow themselves to be used by any group to cause disturbance of public peace and break down of law and order.
Southern leaders invite North to re-negotiate Nigeria www.vanguardngr.com Monday, August 07, 2017 05:25
lagos—SOUTHERN leaders yesterday invited their colleagues from the North to renegotiate Nigeria, saying the country was approaching a terminal crisis from which it cannot recover unless it is restructured along the paths of the 1963 Constitution.
Noting that the National Assembly’s rejection of the proposal for devolution was against popular demand, the southern leaders vowed to press on with their demand until the issue was brought to a conclusion.
Arewa youths, Ndigbo currently in meeting In Kano over quit notice The leaders, drawn from the three geopolitical zones of the South, also berated security agencies for threatening to deal with agitators of the country’s restructuring describing it as empty and ineffective threats.”
Adebanjo raps Yemi Osinbajo
Also yesterday, Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo flayed Acting President Yemi Osinbajo over his comment that agitators for restructuring were those looking for appointments.
The Southern leaders who met under the aegis of the Southern Leaders Forum, in Lagos, included among others, Chief Adebanjo; former Director General of the Department of State Service, Chief A.K Horsfall; former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof Joe Irukwu; Gen Ike Nwachukwu, Secretary of the Yoruba Council of Elders, Dr Kunle Olajide; Afenifere chieftain, Dr Amos Akingba and erstwhile chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Senator Bassey Ewa-Henshaw.
Also present were Vanguard Publisher, Mr. Sam Amuka; former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Stella Omu, Col Tony Nyiam (retd); and Chief Guy Ikokwu among others.
Afenifere Publicity Secretary, Mr Yinka Odumakin, who read the communiqué of the forum, said: “We do not want a Nigeria where any section will live as slaves of another, but rather we want a Nigeria where all citizens irrespective of their ethnic or religious affiliation are able to live their lives to the fullest and in happiness without let or hindrance. We hold dearly that anyone who is opposed to this vision is an enemy of Nigeria of our dream.”
Knocks for National Assembly
Flaying the decision of the National Assembly to shoot down the proposal on devolution of powers during the recent constitution alteration exercise, he said: “Their decision reflects the deepest disregard for the popular demand for the freeing of more powers to the federating units from our shocking central government. Instead of devolving power, the National Assembly has now given us a stronger centre that will now conduct elections in local governments against extant provisions of the federalism.”
“It is obvious that the National Assembly has taken itself out of the resolution of the Nigerian crisis by foreclosing devolution of power.
Unknown to the lawmakers, they have unwittingly given more ammunition to self-determination forces by attempting to collapse the restructuring column in the battle for the soul of Nigeria.”
“It would, however, be short-sighted for the National Assembly and their sympathisers to think this is the end of the matter. The demand for restructuring cannot end with their decisions as Nigeria has reached a terminal crisis from which it cannot recover except it is restructured.”
Vowing to continue on its insistence for the restructuring of Nigeria, the leaders said “for emphasis, the restructuring we demand is a return to principles of federalism in Nigeria as obtained in the 1963 Constitution, which allowed the federating units to have autonomy over their local affairs to create a Nigeria that sustains the principles of fairness, equity, respect for all constituent units of Nigeria.”
“We restate in clear terms that this country has gone through war once and it is not likely to survive another one. The only way therefore to have a peaceful Nigeria is to have a country based on justice and equity for all Nigerians. In order to achieve the above, there is need for sacrifices on all sides as the only insurance for peace and justice is equity.
Saving Nigeria from destruction and crisis
“We, therefore, call for immediate meeting of well-meaning leaders from the South and the North to find a way to save Nigeria from destruction and crisis. An urgent return to the principles our founding fathers agreed as the basis for our independence is the only way out for Nigeria as most sectors of our country have lost faith in the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.”
On the threat to deal with agitators of the country’s restructuring, the forum chided the security operatives, saying:
“Lastly, we are aware of the threat issued from the recent security meeting in Abuja where operatives of the government were issuing threats against agitators for renegotiation of the polity. We, therefore, say that such threats are not taking into account the realities on the ground,” the forum said.
Reacting to the Acting President’s remarks that restructuring agitators were looking for appointments, Adebanjo who spoke on the sidelines of the meeting said: “That is a very unfortunate statement. I would not like it to appear that we are attacking our acting president. The Acting President was born on the principle of restructuring. Myself and his father were followers of Awolowo since the 1950s.”
Speaking further, he said: “He cannot say we are looking for appointment, is it me or Horsfall or Gen. Ike Nwachukwu? It just shows someone in position, but does not understand the problem of the people he is leading. It is an unfortunate statement to make, I am not going to engage in a brickbats with him, it shows the limit of his knowledge of how the country came together. I think he should know better. He is not only a lawyer, he has been an Attorney-General and Vice President.”
Nagisa: Former Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi has disclosed why he lost $39 million to fraudsters in Rivers state.
The Federal Minister of Transport who at his Senate hearing famously uttered, “I have never taken bribe in my life but if they send a girl to you and you sleep with the girl and do that favour, that means you are corrupt”, said that he lost the money because he was only human and was learning on the job.
Guardian reported about the fraud in 2015, After spending N8.54 billion on a proposed 1,000-bed Adolphus Karibi Whyte Specialist Hospital, the permanent secretary in Rivers State Ministry of Health, Somiari Harry yesterday said there is no physical structure at the site of the project.
Vital documents such as a memorandum of understanding and shareholders’ agreement between the state government and Canadian-based Clinotech Diagnostic and Pharmaceutical Limited, which received the $39.2 million to build the contentious hospital are said to be missing.
Harry told the Justice George Omereji-led commission of inquiry investigating the non-execution of the 15-storey Adolphus Karibi Whyte Specialist Hospital after the payment of $39.2 million (equivalent to N4.6 billion in 2008), to Clinotech, that besides some parts of prefabricated buildings littering around, containers and other equipment, there is nothing at the site of the proposed hospital to justify the huge amount the state government paid to the contractor.
According to him, the concept was for the hospital to provide world-class medical services in Port Harcourt. He said the estimated cost of the project was $98 million and based on this a memorandum of understanding and shareholders agreement were signed by the parties, which required that the state government would provide 40 percent of the funding, while Clinotech would provide 60 percent.
According to him, state government paid off its own 40 percent equity valued at $39.2 m (N4.6 billion) at the time to Clinotech, which in turn failed to contribute its own counterpart funding for the project.
Amaechi is seen in this video explaining how his learning on the job cost the people of Rivers state $39.2 million.
MyPrinceMeLuv: please i am just pissed off, and i need genuine advice from all especially lawyers. I started working with my former employer 14th April 2016 as an Audit officer and resigned 30th June 2017. All through my stay there, i did my best but had to leave because i got a better offer. now they are threatening to take a legal action against me should i fail to refund them a month salary for not giving them a month notice.
NOTE: while i planned to resign, my compliance manager resigned after a month notice and they offered to transfer me to there head office and double my salary but i had to go because i had already collected my employment letter from my new employer.
now what do i do, do i refund or not? .
As long as it's part of company's rule that you give one month notice before resignation or one month salary in lieu of one month notice, you must refund the money and move on. It is like that in most companies.

Wee u kip kwayet Dia......all of you failed Nigeria. After your wasted 8yrs, you still have the boldness to speak. I don't blame you because, if it's in a sane country all of you would have been forgotten in jail.
Onojasteve: A lady I met two months ego, fell deeply in love with me, and was very obsess with me, she does crazy things in the name of love, but I don't love her in return. she is not up to my standard, she uneducated, she lies, she form what she is not just to impress me. she dress funny to impress, she has damaged her body just to look fair because I like fair ladies. I am tired of her harassment, and obsessions because I don't love her. I try to talk sense into her as a friend, but she hardly learn. Please what do I do, have some one I truly admires for a wife.y our suggestions and advices is highly appreciated. No insult pls.
Bros, do nothing, just ignore her and she will get tired and move on.
Since the NASS has rejected the call for restructuring, I think I may consider supporting this guy's call for Nigeria's break up because, that's the only option left. I was for restructuring but it seems the idea doesn't favour some people and our Sen-looters hence the rejection of the bill.
[b] “These elements must be encouraged to pursue their agitations within processes enshrined in our constitution and with the full and willing participation of all parts of our nation.[/
Nigeria has no constitution, do you call this one constitution?. Constitution that started with lies by using the word "we the people of..." Meanwhile it's just arranged by few power drunk individuals.
laudate: Nobody is asking you if you are a mechanic. If you say it is strong, then in what sense is it strong? Can its' strength be compared with other existing brands? And where is the location where these buses are used? In Lagos island for example, the spare parts are very scarce, and very few mechanics know how to fix it.
Okay, check DPR office around Koffo Aboyomi VI. Maybe their drivers will give you enough information about their buses. They have been using it since 2010. I will also interview our drivers in my organization to get other informations you listed and post it here.
feran15: Really? Then why aren't they more popular?
Innoson vehicles lack publicity but that notwithstanding, just look around you, you will see some of his vehicles. I am a member of an organization that patronizes innoson vehicles for over 6yrs now. The vehicles are strong, easy to maintain, the parts are available. I also know another organization that uses their buses for up to 7ys now. You can still make your personal inquiry for further info.
laudate: Nobody asked you if you have seen it. Have you used it? So how can you tell if it is strong, is it just by looking at it? Can you give a first hand account or your own personal experience, regarding its performance and durability?
What is the likelihood of getting availability of spare parts, in the location where you reside? What is their after-sales service like? What is the acceleration and torque like? How stable is the gear shift system at high speeds? What is the braking distance for its vehicles? How often does it malfunction? How many mechanics in your area, can successfully fix it, if it breaks down? Those are things people want to know....
Bros, I no be mechanic o. Anyway, I am a member of an organization that patronizes innoson vehicles for over 6yrs now. The vehicles are strong, easy to maintain, the parts are available. I also know another organization that uses their buses for up to 7ys now. You can still make your personal inquiry for further info.
Brother, Innoson vehicles are one of the strongest available, stronger than most vehicles you know. both the buses and their sedan, suvs and pickups are very strong. they are very rugged. I have seen all
