Recall that since on Saturday October 27th, the sect members have had series of faceoff with security agents. Yesterday, the sect members burnt down a police patrol vehicle in Abuja. On Monday October 29th, the police opened fire on the sect members after they tried preventing a military vehicle carrying ammunition from gaining access on Nyanya road in Abuja.

Politics › Re: "Atiku Is Coming Back To Create A Paradise For Thieves" - Sowore by ozimec(m): 1:14pm On Oct 17, 2018 |
whizpet: Presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has accused his opponent in the 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, of planning a return to power to allegedly create a paradise for thieves who'll loot the country blind. While addressing the public at a summit, "African Leadership In The Millenium", a part of Felabration 2018, in Lagos State on Monday, October 15, 2018, Sowore said a victory for Atiku, a former vice president, or incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari, will further stall the nation's progress.
He said, "The last government is always better than the next. In fact, if you ask me which is the worst government, it hasn't come yet.
"It's coming next year if we vote Buhari or Atiku. It'll be the worst government we'll have because both of them have unfinished business with Nigeria.
"Atiku was not happy that he didn't steal enough when he was with Obasanjo. Maybe he didn't get enough licenses for his universities, or maybe he didn't get enough oil blocs for himself or probably didn't marry enough wives.
"So, when they return, they're coming with vengeance; vengeance on our resources and our people.
"Atiku is coming back to create a paradise for thieves and you can see the people who are excited about them.
"They're either people who stole, who didn't steal enough last time, or people who are aspiring to become thieves, including Donald Duke.
"Same thing with Buhari. If Buhari returns next year, he'll take away all forms of pretence about human rights, about his support for Islamic extremism, about his respect for your farms. He'll take it all because at that time, he'll have nothing at stake."
We need revolution in 2019 - Sowore Sowore also said Nigerians cannot hope to simply have power voluntarily transfered from one generation to another and must fight for it through a deliberate revolution.
He pointed out that the system is rigged to keep the old establishment in power and that Nigerians must resist it so as to actualise the country of their dreams and not the one of their ineffective leaders.
He said, "The solution is a revolution. We're not going anywhere without adding the revolutionary fervour to this coming election.
"Anyone who's still under the illusion that these old baggers, as we call them, will hand over power voluntarily to us, we're deceiving ourselves.
"Anyone under the illusion that the plastic cards that we refer to as permanent voter's card (PVC) will guarantee you a transfers of power from one generation to another, you're wasting your time.
"Of course a few of you might vote, but your votes will not count because it's been designed to fail from the beginning."
The 2019 presidential election, scheduled for February 16, 2019, is expected to be keenly-contested between Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) who served as vice president between 1999 and 2007 and lost in the 2007 presidential election.

Politics › Re: Why Obi Is A Unique VP Pick- Sun Newspaper by ozimec(m): 1:08pm On Oct 17, 2018 |
BeautifulMind2: The enthusiastic reaction to Mr. Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra state as running mate to Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in 2019 presidential election, is a confirmation of Obi’ unquestioned competence, his reputation for integrity and experience in domestic and global economics. But these are not the only factors that made him a unique Vice-Presidential pick.
Making a decision on a presidential running mate is not an easy task. It takes time to carefully consider prospective candidates. To winnow down the prospective candidates and settle for one person requires the following criteria: The candidate must be fully qualified to be President, just in case. The nominee must share the political philosophy of the presidential candidate. Besides, the person must be someone with whom the presidential candidate is comfortable with. And in the interest of party harmony, the person must be acceptable to majority of party members. Obi is acclaimed to fit into all the criteria listed and miles ahead of other prospective candidates.
In addition, his accomplishments as Governor of Anambra state for eight years were also considered as excellent. A statement by the Director-General of the Atiku Campaign Organisation, Gbenga Daniel said that much about Obi’s astute professional credentials which are what Nigeria needs at this point of her peculiar political and socioeconomic history. Beyond all of this, Obi is both smart, savvy and a highly principled, a man of conviction who always stands for something, a man with strength of character, who is not afraid to speak his mind in any issue he strongly believes in.
In Nigeria’s politics today, it’s hard to see public officials and politicians who have chosen the path of honour no matter the greasy pole that is Nigerian politics. That’s why, very often, it’s difficult for a typical Nigerian politician to answer these baseline questions: Why am I in public office? Am I going there for public good or to feather my own nest? Again, that is why many of our politicians lack that clear qualification for higher office. Many of them don’t possess what it takes to perform beyond average. The truth is that the Presidency and the Vice Presidency are not prizes to be won. These unique offices, to paraphrase former United States President Gerald Ford, ‘is a duty to be done.’ In other words, it’s the challenge of the job, not the power and glamour of the office that should matter most.
How then does Obi complement the strength of Atiku, and not a spare tyre of sort? This is what Obi will bring into the office. Anyone who has closely and keenly followed Obi’s political career will tell you that one reason he has been so successful as businessman and politician is because he is one of the first to truly treat politics as a science. But this is where Atiku/Obi ticket will be a winning team. Reason: Atiku, in both politics and business has been more successful in a more traditional way. He (Atiku) has proved to be a master of the art of politics. In that regard, the difference between like a chalk and cheese. While Obi is cool and rational thinker, Atiku is a talker, a tackler and a smooth operator. Simply spoken, Obi’s political style seems to be in his head, Atiku’s is in his blood.
Make no mistakes about it: The stakes in the coming campaigns and the election proper, are higher than that of four years ago If issues will drive the campaigns as the All Progressives Congress (APC) has promised, Atiku is not diminished by Buhari’s appeal, especially in the North. Indeed, Atiku has the machinery to match whatever the incumbent president and the APC throw up. He is the master of the game. And in Obi, there is no minuses. In the campaigns, the questions that will be raised before the voters include: Are you better off now than you were four years ago? Are you, your family and relatives more secured now than you were four years ago? Is Nigeria more united now than four years ago? Is your disposable income better now than it was four years ago? Is your future better now or looking bleak? It will be interesting how voters answer these questions. If Nigerians desire a credible, responsible campaign and a future of peace, the pluses are on the side of PDP. This is one presidential election, I think that the Vice Presidential candidate will play a significant role.
Obi is comparatively young, 57 years, a devout Catholic, known across the country and beyond. Like Atiku, Obi has a attractive wife, Margaret who is not an Igbo, just as two of Atiku’s wives hail from the Southeast and South west, respectively. But this aside, Obi has never been tainted by any impropriety. He had been tried and tested. No blemishes found. On that scale, Obi will be a great asset to the Atiku ticket across the country. He will broaden the PDP base and appeal.
It is left for the PDP strategists to come up with a campaign theme that will capture the worries, the aspirations and vision of today and the future. Such a theme should be an umbrella under which a realistic objectives for the next four years will be captured. Nigerians need confidence in their own future and belief that governance matters if entrusted in the hands of those who know why they are seeking public office.
And politics provides that rare opportunity of a lifetime to do good for your country and the people who put you in that office. Sady, our politicians have squandered public trust. They pursue simple, personal things with zeal, but approach critical matters of governance either half heartedly, or completely unattended to. That’s not what life in the presidency ought to be. It ought to make positive change happen, inspire the citizens to shade their doubts by fixing the problems that confront them and provide a unity of purpose.
What makes Obi a unique VP candidate is that he will draw from his shining legacy in Anambra and vast experiences in different sectors of the economy, believing that Atiku if he wins the presidency will listen to him and solutions he (Obi) will proffer. Atiku, I believe, will fancy Obi’s expertise on economic management, as he (Atiku) was entrusted with similar function as Vice President under Olusegun Obasanjo presidency. That prospect is looking increasingly possible now. Good governance and good leadership drive the citizens to offer their utmost best for their country.Given the great pessimism in Anambra before Obi assumed office as Governor and the rough patches he went through after his illegal impeachment, and his triumph and the legacy he left, that has put Anambra as the state with the lowest poverty level and highest number of billionaires in the country, is an inspiration that politics matters if we elect transparent leaders into office. It’s left for Atiku to tap from the vast and unique qualities of his running mate. Together, they can wage a winning campaign in every state, every geopolitical zone of the country.
http://sunnewsonline.com/why-obi-is-a-unique-vp-pick/ Oh God I can't wait to see a new Nigeria without tribalism, bigotry, nepotism, marginalization, terrorism, witch-hunt, poverty etc..pls you can add to the list. Let us Atikulate with Obiligation to the future of our country. I AM CELEBRATING ALREADY.....

Politics › Re: Why PDP, Atiku Will Lose In South-East – Donatus Nwankpa by ozimec(m): 3:15pm On Oct 16, 2018 |
Wiki9ja: Ahead of 2019 general election, the Abia state chairman of the All Progressives Congress,APC, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, has declared that the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, has not in anyway, brightened the chances of the opposition party of taking over power from the governing APC.
https://wiki9ja.com.ng/upload/media/entries/2018-10/16/311-0-3516aa53e0da34ddc2dce81785575113.jpg
He, therefore, said that the opposition PDP and its flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar have nothing to offer Nigerians if voted into office.
Nwankpa who spoke while addressing newsmen on Monday, in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, dismissed the notion that Southeast zone would vote for PDP in 2019 election over the choice of Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi as Atiku’s running mate.
He explained that the Southeast had fared well under President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration and pointed out that the zone will not support the main opposition PDP to return back to power due to its past failure to fix the infrastructural decays in the country.
According to the ex-Abia lawmaker,”The emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the PDP has not in anyway boosted the chances of the opposition party.
“Because there is nothing new about Atiku. There is nothing spectacular about him. He does not have the magic wands.
“Let me ask, how many Atiku followers can ridicule us in Southeast? The most important thing today is that the APC government has not neglected south-east zone.
“Anybody telling you that Southeast is going to vote for PDP is a misnomer, misconception and the person is still living in the past. Southeast does not belong to PDP”.
“Historically, PDP has not won any genuine election in the south-east. Elections had been based on manipulation of results and conspiracy with security agencies and the electoral body. And this time around, vote will count. One man, one vote”.

She stated that the opposition party first made a mistake by picking Abubakar who she described as “prince of corruption” as its Presidential candidate.
In a tweet, she insisted that the party made another mistake by allowing Abubakar pick Obi.
“What is wrong with PDP? Nigerians don use prayers scatter dem.

Politics › Re: APC Can’t Field Candidates For Zamfara, INEC Insists by ozimec(m): 1:47pm On Oct 12, 2018 |
TundeBricklayer: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that there is no going back on its decision to bar the All Progressives Congress (APC) from fielding candidates for the 2019 general elections in Zamfara State.
INEC’s stand came just as the ruling party which appeared ruffled by the likely fate that may befall it in the 2019 elections in Zamfara State is making frantic effort to sort out things.
The commission through its Director of Publicity and Voter Education, Mr. Osaze Uzzi, said it had not changed its position despite the protestation by the APC. Speaking to THISDAY on telephone yesterday, Uzzi, who was on his way back to Abuja from a trip, said he could not confirm if the APC’s letter had been received or not. When asked if the commission has changed its position based on the letter from APC, Uzzi said, “I don’t know whether it has been received or not but either, we still stand by our earlier position.”
INEC had on Monday declared APC ineligible to field candidates for all elective positions in Zamfara State in the 2019 election on the basis that it did not hold primaries in the state before the expiration of the stipulated deadline.
The position of INEC was contained in a leaked letter to the APC National Chairman, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, on Tuesday.
However, the party on Wednesday, replied INEC, claiming that primary elections actually took place in Zamfara State.
In the letter dated October 10th and signed by Oshiomhole, the party said INEC did not capture the true situation of the APC primaries in Zamfara State.
In the INEC’s letter titled, “Failure to conduct party primaries in Zamfara State within the stipulated time-frame,” the commission said APC failed to conduct its primary elections in Zamfara within the stipulated time-frame”.
In its submissions to INEC, APC said, “The contents of your letter seem to conclude that no primaries were conducted by the APC in Zamfara State. We wish to state emphatically that nothing can be farther from the actual situation in Zamfara State”.
Meanwhile, APC has intensified efforts to get INEC to reverse its position on the Zamfara State primary elections.
THISDAY gathered that apart from its letter to the commission, the party is also hoping to go ahead to submit names of candidates for the state.
A party source told THISDAY yesterday that the party is picking holes on the letter, which it said did not emanate from the Chairman’s office or that of Secretary to the commission.
It said that the party is insisting that as a political party it reserves the sole right to decide who its candidates for an election will be.
