as it stands now. a house officer the lowest cadre of doctors earn 180k. I have seen the pay slip of a friend that works in irrua specialist teaching hospital.

I'm neither a doc or a pharmacist or a nurse
but the disparity and cheating is too much mhen.

u haven't done a good job chief.please also ask a pharmacist doing his internship in that SAME irrua specialist hospital how much dey earn and compare.try also to do more brief research about that ur friend how much work he does in the hospital and also pick a pharmacist doing his internship and study how much service or the work load the person does and judge urself.u will realize dey r even short changing that ur friend compare to what d said pharmacist is earning base on the work load and also d different job description both offer.thanks chief

You are correct for the pay during internship and housejob, lemme now breakdown the salary scale at the point of entry post NYSC for you, A physiotherapist earn 151000(25000 is the call allowance) a fresh doctor start with 249000(I knt say specifically wat d call allowance is) but all oda allowances are equal such as hazard and teaching as d case may be, d dff in dt salary scale is 64%, wat johesu want is 20% increament so awa salary can be 191000 wc is still 32% lesser dn a doctors own, and they keep shouting we want equal pay...
Now base on the present salary scale for a physiotherapist, pharmacist or lzab scientist to earn dt 249000 of a fresh doctor you mst use atleast 10years in civil service, all wat johesu want is jst 20% of salary across CONHESS salary scale dtz all and NMA kip shouting equality. The issue of skipping is still there for doctors to enjoy and no Phyio, pharmacist is allow to reach the post of a Director in there own field till dey retire wat we get to is Deputy or Assistant Director.
Another issue is d issue of professional autonomy and specialty, I will leave dz 4 now....

please what is d basic salary a new post nysc physiotherapist earn.cos I know the salary difference then between and intern pharmacist and an intern Doctor wasn't much.I think 40k or so.one earning 120+ n d other 160k plus.please sincerely tel me what a new post nysc guy get as a start.please break it down to basic salary and d allowances.thanks.I really wanna know the truth.please also explain the 34 and 64% u mentioned. I told my MBBS colleague of mine some days ago that if not for people like him I would think reading MBBS in Nigeria makes one myopic and stupid that you can't even use google to get information. We are both HSE professionals. We discussed at length objectively pointing out the issues, JOHESU has its blame no doubt about that but NMA as the head of the health sector has really bastardized the health sector. From the ministers of health to commissioners of health, CMDs, MDs, boards of health institutions etc. are all doctors yet our hospitals keep deteriorating only for NMA to turn and blame JEHOSU instead of holding their colleagues (who are leaders of the sector) accountable.

Whenever I hear NMA saying 'international best practice' I wonder whether they have their own definition of the phrase. Because in developed world like UK, US, and Canada hospitals are headed by administrators who can be anybody with requisite administrative skills, the doctors and other health workers concentrate on offering clinical services as a team with mutual respect for one another. The USA surgeon general for instance, is a nurse, NMA cannot allow this happen in Nigeria yet still quote international best practices. The head of WHO is a biologist from Ethiopia.
The consultant cadre issue, according to NMA would confuse the patient, as if Nigeria or JOHESU invented it; this is obtainable in the UK, US, and Canada that are ranked among the top 10 ..so which one is NMA's international best practices?
NMA also does not allow any non-medical doctor to do MPH in Nigeria, only doctors are qualified to do it; a program that any science graduate can do even at Harvard and the likes. This is pathetic. You cannot continue to suppress and oppress someone and expect him/her not to react at some point.
It is the right of every civil servant to rise to the peak of his or her career (which is director) but NMA oppressed other health workers for many years saying that if others get to the director level, it will confuse the patient. I dont know how! JOHESU had to go to court to get judgement some few years ago.
I can go on and on and on ......
The crisis in the health sector is as a result of failure of our leaders aided by the NMA who has refused to carry the others along as the head of the team. Just recently the Canadian medical association rejected their pay increase insisting that the govt must increase that of allied health workers first. The opposite is d case in Nigeria.

most of all u said are true but I don't agree with some of ur assertions.
MPH (master in public health) is offered by non MBBS holders in Nigeria. U can check unilorin website.majority of the MPH students are not medical Doctors.
Also What some of ur senior colleagues that want to be addressed as a consultant want is jus base on year of service/experience and not necessarily going to your post graduate schools .i stand to be corrected anyway cos I stand for the truth"in senator dino voice
On the hospital administrator, I think JOHESU have an eye on it too .that's why JOHESU is asking for deputy CMAC position or so.on this I think d NIgeria constitution gave Doctors this position/advantage.my opinion: d thing should be given to an administrator and other guys can be asked to join the committee as it is done in saner clime.
Solution to all ds health sector fracas is to invite all stake holders both medical Doctors and JOHESU guys to the table let all find a lasting solution.
But I jus dey laugh guys wn dey have to gang up with cleaners ,gate men , generator guys in this fight.that's telling u how things have degenerated in this our country.

Pharmacist and oda guys I think earn good pay.it also take the same diploma nurse 9years before he/she can earn same salary a new lab scientist , pharmacist and radiologist u mentioned earn for a start when they get a federal govt job.I don't know about state govt workers sha.I stand to be corrected anyway
