chris365: Dude, please get this piece of sh1t outta here. This sitrep is total bs and meant to downplay whatever successes the military ever has with BH.Skullz said you need a bottle of cold beer, don’t bother because i’ll buy you a carton of whatever you are drinking ![]() Weldone |
Nnewi1stSon: Those two groups are utterly useless! What good can come from a Gov's Forum run by an Imbecillic M0Ron as Orji? Ohanaeze is more interested in flying to Abuja every week to sell Igbos out to Jonathan!Theres no harm in trying ![]() |
It’ll be sad if soneone doesnt forward all that have been discussed here to SE governors forum or even Ohaneze ndigbo. |
cjrane: Wow! I just learnt something very wonderful right now! This is called gospel truth |
Thank God that we've started acquiring new military equipments. Things can only continue to get better for us in this war against these terrorists. |

pazienza: It's really disheartening. I was discussing with a South African friend of mine yesterday online, when i told him that i had to log off to conserve my phone battery. So our discussion diverted to the Nigeria's electricity problem, it was from him that i learnt for the first time that South Africa's impressive power generation was mainly coal derived. It will interest you to know that some companies are about to import coal from SA. AS a proactive measure against the lingering power supply crisis in the country, some industrialists and electricity generating companies have started initiating moves to import coal from South Africa. This is to enable them to switch over to coal-powered turbines for their respective operators. The move was said to have been informed by the frustrations being experienced by the operators in getting gas to fuel their respective power plants. Nigeria has been assessed to have about the largest gas reserves in the world, but the parlous supply infrastructure has compromised distribution to various plants requiring the commodity. The nation’s coal reserves remain largely unexploited, even after the Federal Government has sold out the blocs to prospective miners. Leading the coal-import initiative from South Africa is Dangote Cement Plc, which has already placed an initial order of 30,000 tonnes of the commodity from the continent’s second largest economy. Already, the company has slated $250 million for power generating conversion , which would involve establishment of three plants at Dangote Cement’s facilities at Obajana in Kogi State; Gboko in Benue State; and Ibeshe in Ogun State. The Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement, Devakupar Edwin, explained yesterday that the company had to be proactive in resolving the lingering power supply crisis in the country, as ‘‘we cannot afford to compromise the objectives of promoting value addition and job creation in Nigeria.” Edwin stressed that ‘‘no business can survive in an atmosphere of energy crisis. If we don’t have power and fuel, our operations would become endangered.” According to him, ‘‘Dangote Cement would be investing $250 million in coal-based power plants, due to increasing difficulties in getting gas supply to power our electricity generating plants. All our kilns will be powered by coal, with the new plants located in Obajana, Ibeshe and Gboko. ‘‘Already, we are expecting the first shipment of 30,000 coal from South Africa, to power 60 megawatt power plants, with another 30 megawatt generating facility on standby.” Edwin, however, explained that the coal importation agenda was only scripted as a temporary measure, to forestall system collapse in their operations. ‘‘We are aware of large coal deposits in Nigeria and the allocation of blocs to prospective miners. But we have to take urgent steps to safeguard our investments in the country, more so as exploitation of the commodity has not commenced on a scale that can sustain our operations. ‘‘Currently, we don’t have either gas or black oil (low pour fuel oil) to run our machines fully. We even had to resort to importation of black oil to do our business. ‘‘We, however, have a plan to look inwards in respect of coal sourcing, as we expect the companies that have secured coal blocs to commence their respective mining operations in the country. ‘‘We had hoped that the gas infrastructure challenges would be resolved, so that normal supplies can be resumed. But the reality on the ground now is that the crisis has persisted. ‘‘The government would need to come to the aid of cement manufacturers as the operating environment is not encouraging at all. The cost of doing business is increasing. When a cement company is forced to be importing black oil to sustain production, how would it not affect its financial projection?” Investigations by The Guardian revealed that some power generating companies (Gencos) have already started considering converting their plants to coal-fired turbines, with unabated crisis in securing gas to power their respective facilities. Mostly affected by the gas paucity crisis are the Gencos that are located inland, which have not got the close proximity advantage to the gas supplying facilities, which are located in the Niger Delta region. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/news/national-news/175150-nigerian-firms-others-to-import-coal-from-south-africa-for-power-generation |
Just like I read in beegeagle (yes, am addicted to that blog ). At just over 100000 troops, our military is small in number compared to our population and land mass. So what these terrorists do is they attack soft spots/towns where there are few soldiers. The terrerists attack in greater numbers than our troops who are stationed to defend the town. Read what the beeg man has to say: That notion of a lean and mechanised military will not work for Nigeria. Nigeria’s problem, unlike other vast countries such as Algeria, Sudan or DR Congo is that we have settlements from end to end…from the sand dunes of Yusufari to Bassambiri in the Niger Delta. In times of war, except every square inch of territory is staked out, there shall always be the case of insurgents preying on isolated communities. http://beegeagle./2012/06/05/exercise-obangame-2010-at-calabar-nigerian-navy-participation/ Quote ” I remember that, but that is neither here nor there. What is the magical correlation between 50,000 troops and professionalism? Most countries with a less than a quarter, a third or half of Nigeria’s population have larger armies – Algeria, Morocco, Burma, Turkey, Iraq, Ethiopia, The Philippines, Iran, Egypt BECAUSE there is correlation between geography, demography and manning. I do not see how the disproportionately large sizes of the Egyptian and Turkish armies have hampered their quest for professionalism. As of 1988, the defunct Directorate of Foods, Roads and Rural Infrastructure enumerated 94,000 communities in Nigeria. Compared to that and the last time I checked, the DRC had 40,000 communities, Ethiopia 45,000 and the pre-partition Sudan had 35,000 communities. We face challenges of insurgency in which men have to be put on the ground. NORTHERN NIGERIA is equal in size(slightly larger as a matter of fact) to Benin, Togo, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire put together OR FOUR times the size of Liberia and Sierra Leone put together.Half of that huge swathe of territory(equal in size to Germany) has been critically affected by insurgent attacks. There is a critical requirement for BOOTS on the ground since these chaps strike where they sense a vacuum. It is the same everywhere with COIN-CT operations. In Liberia we had a peak deployment of 13,000 troops, in Sierra Leone it was 19,000 men. That is 32,000 men to man an area the size of Scotland and England combined and there was still a deficit. I just said that Northern Nigeria is four times as large as the combined area of Liberia and Sierra Leone! The insurgent knuckleheads will attack every undefended church, every isolated police post, every vulnerable church and the COIN-CT operations are beyond what the Police alone can handle insofar as they only field rifles whereas the insurgents have RPGs, GPMGs, are massively IED-reliant and use suicide bombers. In the deep south, the Niger Delta is a labyrinth of 3014 creeks and waterways with 5,000 miles of pipelines, hundreds of remote flowstations and installations scattered across a daunting maritime area the size of Sierra Leone. The creeks call for patrols by triads and quartets of troops in river gunboats, the multimillion dollar flowstations need to be protected by squads and sections of troops as well. How many troops are we looking at ideally to effectively man that area where bunkering, piracy, insurgency and kidnapping are not going to quieten down before 2015 at the earliest? What manner of 50,000 troops was OBJ speculating about? Was that a joke? We need to get started with more than twice that number and with a 2,000-man NAF Regiment(plus 15,000 others) and a 3,000-man Naval Infantry Command (plus 15,000 others) They should forget the glib talk about ‘compact and professional.’ This is not Israel. Our land area is 45 times larger. China have not been in any war since 1978-79 against Vietnam. Their land is ten times larger, their population is eight times bigger but their military is more than twenty times larger. Does anyone know why, if not for the correlation between population size, land area and the need for MANNING |
berem: This would make a good nollywood movie with very good actors to play the roles perfectly.Gbam!!! Good actor, directors and quality camera. Infact quality production |
jteku: Nigerian BigboysTo be sincere I don't want to blame these big boys. I want to blame all of us Nigerians. There's something that makes us forget where we came from immediately we get to a post of authority. Pastors should know the evil spirit behind this and fight it. Imams should know the jinn ( sorry incase I got the spelling wrong am not muslim) behind it and fight it. Scientists should find a rationale explanation for it and prescribe pills/ solutions to take eliminate from our nation. This affects all facets of our national life and not just the military, Infact politicians and civil servants are worse. Gen Minimah being an infantry man must have seen many battles (without any bullet peoof) in his career from the deserts in Somalia to the jungles in Liberia and Sierra Leone (though I haven't seen his CV). Same goes for the CDS and CAS both of whom I'm sure flew the Alpha Jets when they were tear rubber. Now these men suppose to know better about equipping the armed forces with latest military gadgets . For God's sake what's giving a soldiers 2 or 3 magazines nah. It doesn't make sense at all. While we pray and hope for the quick arrival of the equipments/super tucanos/helos, we also pray to God to help our military to master the equipments in record time, use it to inflict heavy damages on the enemy and not submit them to the insurgents. |
Got this from beegeagle. Corruption is abominable but it is not the explanation for everything under the sun. It does not explain – Why tanks and medium artillery could not repulse and attack by light infantry in Gwoza – Why the commander of the troops at Gwoza would not have scouting positions on the heights to have seen the Boko Haram long before they got into the town – why the retreating troops could not spare a few minutes to toss 1 grenade each into the abandoned tanks and APCs, or spike the guns – Why all the air assets we have not been armed and were not sent into the air to bomb the advancing BH as they came Soooo many questions, none of which is directly connected with the corruption of politicians (or even Generals for that matter). |
komekn: Ozonna,Infact, I am speechless. This is a huge disgrace |
Sincerely speaking, President Gej isn't handling this war against boko haram well at all. Sir you need to tell the service chiefs to retake every territory under the control of the terrorists within 30 days or face sack. People who are clamouring for new equipments, can't you guys see how we keep donating our tanks to the insurgents without demobilising the equipments? One day we'll hear how we donated our one and only Alfa jet to them (with the most experienced pilot as jara). This is no longer about equipments. There is more to this war than meets the eye. |
Innovator90: I don't think they are "very clannish", they are just as rational as any shrewd business man would. No sensible business man will like to set up a heavy capital investment in SE if the economic enablers or master plan of extended development is not there. These people would love to invest heavily in SE to the surprise of our people if something in the order of SE Regional Development blueprint is created and engendered. These people want to see a long term development plan before they can commit. Case study; when Abuja was just a forest, thick bush, inhabitable, guess who were there first besides the Hausas and local natives? The Igbos. Igbo business men left Lagos.... yes these business men deserted Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Maiduguri for Abuja even when Abuja was practically empty. Why did they do that? Because the Government had a master plan for the development of the New Federal Capital Territory with prediction of what it would look like in 20+ yrs....today it looks exactly as predicted and the Igbos are the biggest beneficiaries of it. El Rufai wasn't joking when he said Igbos own 73% of land in Abuja...that's a very factual statement because these Igbo business men had the foresight to see what many others didn't see. Implementation of a SE Regional Development scheme will witness one of the greatest regional investment we have ever witnessed. SAB Miller in Onitsha is just a cake walk to what Igbo businessman will be setting up. These people have the money but waiting for a prospective, viable plan! My first post on page 210 of this thread illustrates this SRDC blueprint. Please kindly forward this SRDC proposal to Governor Obiano, Gov ¥ Okorocha and Ohaneze Ndigbo. Govs Chime, Elechi and Orji will be leaving their seats on May 29th next year. Govs Obiano and Okorocha (if re elected) should push this regional development agenda to the nnew sworn in Govs. Also members of the NASS from Igboland shouldn't be left out. Maybe Chino, Abagworo and other guys who are connected to top politicians in theIgboland should be of help here and see how they can make this idea come to physical manifestation. We shouldn't let brilliant ideas in this thread ggo to waste. Pleas it shouldn't end here. |
NafeesaAA: I felt guilty after reading your comment, pls accept my apology for my initial outburst, I was born in the North, I grew up in the north,i have travelled beyond the borders of the north, I still live in the north, because I am from the north. Thus it's very natural for me to feel pained when my home is wrongly portrayed, attacked and my religion ignorantly ridiculed by some ignorant Kanuris, only to be accused of supporting the same people that are creating havoc, destroying my region and misinterpreting my religion. As I said earlier on am really sorry for the insults, I never meant any of those word. ![]() |
NafeesaAA: I don't abuse people, all what I have said have come to pass If, however you cross the boundary of civility, I have no obligation to treat you with even a modicum of courtesy. You called me a Boko Haram sympathizer without provocation! Which confirms you sprung from the dirtiest and most malodorous groins of the most disgusting tart ever born. You are destitute of civilization and elementary decency. Your maggot infected brain is of such severity and irreversibility as to be incapable of penetration by reason. Abusing people is the laziest and cheapest tool of scumbags like you who can neither think nor argue intelligently. When people accuse you wrongly, it tells a lot about their backgrounds of bastardy. When a man was born on the wrong side of the blanket, making him recognize the value of courtesy is like giving a mirror to a blind man! When you gave out that information, I searched the net to know if it was true. No online blog carried the news as at the time I read it here, i thought it was a lie and I was angry because the terrorists all over the world knows how to strike fear in the hearts of the populace by making good use of propaganda. Knowing fully well that we've lost the propaganda battle to boko hharam, I gave in to my emotions and made the statement I made. Mistake I made was not apologising after reading this same story from reputable online news stands. I apologise for making the statement I made. Cheers |
ocelot2006: My brother, I'm basically barely hoping that MAYBE substantial amount of equipment have been purchased to aid our troops, and that they're yet to arrive. But it seems the Airforce in particular ' s only interested in buying VI transport aircrafts. The only arms of the armed force+LEO+intelligence serious about arms procurement are the NAVY, DSS, and the NPF. The rest are asleep.NPF as in Nigerian Police Force |
Sagamite: Combined with a whole lot of intelligence. And continously reminding her that she's a furcktard ![]() |

I just want to believe they're acquiring this covertly to be used in the NE. These men can't be this heartless. We should bombard twitter handle of Olukolade with questions like where the hell are the Super Tucanos,40 helos, etc. These military leaders have made Nigeria laughing stock in Africa |
NafeesaAA:I blame the army PR for not doing their jobs properly. If they had allowed SiriusBlack to continue his thread we wouldn't be subjected to rumours/lies like this one I just quoted. Boko haram sympathisers will use this opportunity to fill the gap and continue spreading their evil propaganda. |
Seems like some people are hell bent on spreading this disease in this country. If he tries to pull any Patrick Sawer stunt, the police should put a bullet in his head |
That was one of the reasons why Nigeria bought Brazilian fighter plane Super Tucano for COIN to balance trade between both countries. |
I endorse this Russian method ![]() |
Guys si just saw this thread https://www.nairaland.com/1865201/iboland-donate-grazing-land-fulani now. Every well meaning Igbo man (not just enugu indigene) should condemn this bill now and make sure it doesn't see the light of the day. Those that have access to their representatives on the assembly should call them now and advise them to throw away that bill without wasting their time arguing about it. We shouldn't allow this Eugene Odoh led House of Assembly to turn Enugu State to plateau or Nasarawa state in the near future. Supporters of all political heavy weights here should call the attention of their bosses to this curse that a certain Chinedu Nwamba wants to bring to Enugu and help put a stop to this madness. |

The last security agency still present in Gwoza was today rooted out by about 1000 armed Boko Haram fighters with 8 APC. I just got this breaking news from my Cousin a MOPOL that Boko Haram have now completely over run the famous MOPOL Training Camp in Gwoza, after two unsuccessful attempts. That the insurgents pissed with their inability to conquer the camp after destroying a military base and warded off two attempt by the military to recapture Gwoza, today lunched a all out offensive on the camp.
