Anfieldboss: I used basically Manhattan 8 series for my preparation. I would advise you supplement it with other materials like Kaplan, Barron and official ETS guides, as you can see my score was not too high.
It took me about 3 months, though my preparation was on and off as I am a family man doing a 9 to 5 job. I think preparation time depends on how much time daily you can dedicate to studying.
I paid 80k for the exam. Please, do you do voucher registration? Since you paid 80k for the exam. |

Go and prepare for your Post-UTME and score like 80%. Hope you have credit passes in English, maths, physics, chemistry, and biology? If yes, your high score in Post-UTME will be your saving grace. |

HigherEd: The multi billion naira Goshen campus of Living faith church was commissioned nearly a decade ago on land stretching about 1,000 acres on the outskirts of Abuja. And right in front of ECWA's Bingham university. Today while reminscing about churches i remembered one of the remarkable and funny stories about Goshen. A time ago the NUC was invited to this campus for their preliminary assessment of the soon to take of university within the campus.
Once NUC officials toured the campus they gave an affirmation, saying that the facilities were good enough and sufficient for a university. The church officials immediately then corrected them that there was no single university building within the campus and all the buildings they saw were for other purposes.
Within Goshen is one of Living Faith Church biggest secondary schools...
The school has 1,245 students and 230 teaching and non teaching staff.
45 Classrooms for Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools, 1,500 Seater Dining Hall. 1,440 capacity Boys and Girls Hostels with ceiling fans and water heaters. An ultra modern Administrative Block with a standard, fully air-conditioned Conference Room.
Academic center Administrative center I so much admire you. Thanks for given a good reputation to the church of God and showing forth the good works in the body of Christ. God bless you richly. |

horpeyemmi66: University of Ibadan does not take DE in Microbiology. They even prefer guys with A Levels than those with first degrees, whatever the rationale behind that is, I do not know.
My advice be very tactful in how you go about actualizing the Medicine-dream, you don't want to be doing tombo-tombo.
Why don't you look up north? Unimaid, ABU, Unijos, Uniabuja, BUK, UDUSOK?? Udusok does not take DE for MBBS. I know that UI loves A-level guys, as some of the students I thought at EAC are now studying medicine in UI. However, a graduate from a recognised university who study medical related course approved by UI with a good grade may be offered admission t study MBBS. As I said above, I have friends who did DE to UI after graduation and were offered admission to study medicine. |

All suggestions are welcomed I think UI and UNILORIN will be a good to try. I can say of them because I know of friends who did their DE to the schools after they have finished their first degree. I wrote an article on it where I shared the success story of a friend who is now a medical doctor. He had 2.1 B.Sc. in Human Nutrition and did DE to UI to study medicine and surgery. Nltaliban: I refuse to deceive you, IT IS DIFFICULT TO CROSS TO MBBS IN 200 LEVEL. let me explain.
1. For you to cross to MBBS in 200, you need to take the basic courses of your own discipline and that of MBBS in your year (most courses in 100 level college of medicine do that though like he said. Most even offer more courses than MBBS so you're covered.) This is not even a problem. 2. You need to have a good cgpa and meet the requirements of mbbs (the number of units required to be passed and all that) if you're determined, you won't have problems with this too. 3. There must be a vacant space in MBBS (This is exactly where the problem comes in.) Like I said, MBBS students are required to have a pass some units of courses (8 units of chemistry, 10 units of zoo, and about 9 units of physics or so) any student that meets up with this requirement even if with a CGPA of 1.01 ( as far as it's not less than the 1.0 required to remain in the university) will be allowed to 200 level MBBS. And to be frank, 90+% of MBBS students meet this requirement without stress. ( which means the college is designed to favour an initial MBBS student that has passed all the required courses with a CGPA of 1,20 than an outsider like you willing to cross with a CGPA of 4.00. and most of the time, a student will never be displaced from MBBS or other departments unless he fails to meet up with the requirements.
So it's just like, someone has to fail for you to take his or her place which seldomly happens.
4. To make it worse, even when there are spaces, they're very few and are always occupied by people with strong affiliations with big lecturers. ( Like these lecturers get to know that there are vacant spaces before others and recommend their own candidates that have met the requirements like every other person willing to cross)
Let me add that 95+% if people who wish to cross to medicine never get the chance to. So there's every possibility that the course you enter for is what you'll graduate with which means your best bet is to fall in love with whichever course you are given and remember, A bird at hand is better than the million in the bush
Ps:. That doesn't mean people don't cross, I'm just trying to be as blunt as possible.
Good luck, I wish you the best in whatever you do You forgot to add that the student must be from College of Medicine and not from any Faculty in the school. Also students with a CGPA of 4.5 and above have a brighter chance to cross. People have crossed in the past and it is still possible today because the number of Cambridge A level students with AAA that UI admit every year into 200 level is reasonable. |

Adolak: In 2015/2016, dentistry was 61 and medicine wasn't 80. The highest score then was 80 something and the person had a very low score in Jamb. That Wes when they were still using only post utme. I can still remember vividly. So please get your facts right. In 2016/2017, they used o level and jamb combo. Maybe you were referring to then. In 2017/2018, Dentistry was 66.25 and medicine 71 And we're still waiting for 2018/2019
My research showed it was 2014/2015 You are very correct. I think it is 2015/2016 you are referring to. The guy had 80 something in Jamb but his Utme score was 256. He was even given a scholarship for having the highest score in post Utme (that was when UI was using only post Utme for admission) . The guy did Cambridge A level in my centre in 2015. Things have changed now. Grading point in UI is now UTME score is 50% and post Utme is also 50%. I wish all candidates success. deandavid: i have some questions bothering me sir, can a second class lower graduate of microbiology apply for scholarship overseas? I have an incomplete o level waec result and a complete o level neco result, my question is can i use only neco result or should i combine the 2 results or probably go write another fresh waec examination. Thank u. Thanks to OP, the page is reach with enough overseas scholarship links. My own contribution to @deandavid question. You can use only NECO result instead of the WAEC result for oversea scholarship. However, with the present level of competition it might be difficult for someone who had second class upper (2:2) to get scholarship abroad. At the same time, it is possible if you can search deeper (Nothing is impossible). |

DrBESTJC: Yes, I know that V is negative...
But, What of 'f' ?
In as much as I know that the focal length of a diverging or concave lens is negative, some questions seem to deviate from that...Check out the questions below please...
So you mean that the correct lens formula equation for concave or diverging lens is - 1/f = 1/u - 1/v ?? If yes, that is what I already know !!...
But some questions seem to deviate from that...Eg:
1) Find the nature and position of the image of an object placed 6cm from a diverging lens of focal length 15cm.
Using your formula,I got 4.28,...but the textbook wrote -4.28 ...How come ?
2) For an object placed 6cm from a diverging lens of focal length 18cm,the image is : A) 4.5cm in front of the lens B) 4.5cm behind the lens C) 9.0cm in front of the lens D) 9.0cm behind the lens.
I also got 4.5cm here, but they wrote -4.5cm still picking (A) as the answer ...How come..?
Please Clarify... To start with, the formula is 1/f = 1/u + 1/v f = 18cm, which will become = -18cm u = 6cm, which will remain the same -1/18 = 1/6 + 1/v -1/18 - 1/6 = 1/v -4/18 = 1/v v = -18/4 = -4.5 cm This confirms that the image formed in a concave lens is virtual Now if the question is, if the focal length is 15cm, the image distance is 4.5cm, find the object distance the solution will be f = 15cm which will become -15cm v = 4.5 cm which will become -4.5cm 1/f = 1/u + 1/v -1/18 = 1/u -1/4.5 1/u = 1/4.5 - 1/18 I hope you get the logic. |

abeylysis92: we are saying d same thing Sir, since V will eventually turns out to be negative, since it is diverging so, it is safer to represent it directly with d negative notation from d formula to prevent time wasting You are very right. I just use my comment to explain how the negative signs came to being. |

DrBESTJC: Please bosses here...
What is the lens formula for a concave or diverging lens ? ...Two textbooks I have are saying different things and I am confused.. Don't be confused 1/f = 1/u + 1/v However, in calculation the value of v is negativeand the value of F is negative because most images formed in a concave lens always give virtual, erect, and diminished image wherever the object is placed. An electric boiling ring is used to heat 800g of water from 30°c to 90°c in 10 minutes. If 25% of the heat generated is lost to the surroundings and the S.H.C of water is 4200JkgK, the power rating of the boiling ring is?
P.S: I need the workings.
CC Ajet001 The quantity of heat energy that boils the water = 0.8*60*4200 =201600 J Since 25% of heat energy was given away. It means 75% was used to boil the water The total energy supplied = (201600*100)/75 =268800 J The power rating of the boiling ring = total heat energy supplied divided time taken in seconds = 268800 / (10*60) = 448 watt |
