kayjegs: @2Sexy...thanks and what will your website be about? @Pacemaker...that was absolutely brilliant...it makes a lot of sense. I have been watching this thread, your ideas are always off the hook. Please what are you really doing? You are highly needed....sincerely...

Packaging corn beef in hamburger bread and sell to super market won't be a bad idea. Before venturing into this, make sure your source of getting this beef is a healthy source, you don't want to make people sick. Add a preservative ingredient into the corn beef for it to last for two months in cool environment(fridge). Busy Parents can buy this off shelve heat up for two minutes and then pack it in their kids lunch box. Just a rough sketch .

kayjegs: I will like to drop an idea here.Very simple, but I know it will yield results. It is all about packaging. I have discovered that Nigerians like "Class". This is what I can see in a small packaged bread by "Yale Foods" in Ibadan and it is spreading like wildfire even though the bread is not in anyway better than our normal breads except for the packaging. This is what the Lebanese owners are exploiting in Nigeria.
I thought of doing small packagings of raw foods like Rice, Beans (well sorted without shafts like the normal ones in the market). You can make it in different economical sizes, such as 5 cups of rice in a pack, 10
cups in a pack with of course different prices. Just like you buy your indomie noodles etc. These can be readily sold in supermarkets and even roadside kiosks as we have in Nigeria. You don't need any special thing to do than to design good nylon packages and buy the big bags of rice and repackage. I don't know if this type is already available in Nigeria anyway, even if it is, it is still an area one can explore. Just think of those bulk food commodities that can be re-packaged. I discovered that
you buy almost anything here abroad in packs from supermarkets. Why cant someone do something like that back home in a neat and healthy way? I am very much interested in this business group as it aligns with my vision of turning around the economic situation of Nigeria for good as youths. We can actually do it.
I m in Germany for a 3 month research and training and will be back to Nigeria in November. Wants to be part of this,
seriously.....
@Pacesetter, @2sexy @2ruink and everybody....welldone guys...I love your spirit. Pls keep it up!
Great idea but I am afraid it may not take off like wide fire. Let me suggest away you can make this packaging look good. You mentioned indomie, right? Time is money and it's a minute made food. Why not make your rice a minute made with some juicey spice to it?research companies in Germany that sell per boiled rice with ingredients. I buy a Japanese fried rice from store here, it takes me 3mins to prepare and ready serve. I hope you understand where I am coming from? Nursery school parents will rush your product in heart beat. I hope Dangote and co does not hijack this brilliant idea from me.....lol. This may work for you bruv

Exactly... but one thing that could have affected Kennis Music may the price points. They were charging way too high and because the industry was still green and a lot of people were ignorant, they had it their way and made good money.

They lost it because they weren't thinking about the future...

The same could happen to nairaland if care is not taken. I pray it doesn't though.
Nairaland lack class though,it may go down the drain real soon. Have you seen their ad banners? They look very shapeless and primitive. He should buy a software that edit's banners before they are published.

Hello, bro. Hmmm... been feeling a little depressed though.

The truth is that online biz is real... Just yesterday, I stumbled on another Nigeria's website who makes money as a writer on the internet--that make two them now secretly making that kind of money. Surprisingly, he sure would be making much more than our local newspaper writers due to the benefit of the hard currency.

HE makes around $3000/ month and charge $50 and above to do the writing.

For the benefit of this forum,I may run a little tutorial here on how you can tap into this business right here in Nigeria.

2ruink, pacemaker, stpat1, what do you think about that...? Give me the green light!
Save the best for the last....lol
Anyways, I don't doubt raking cash online, what 2ruink was asking is if those website Ideas I stated above would give the owner income for providing free service and I said yes, which was why I posted the link above. I just don't like the way some people are going about it on NL, I get sick of it. Amazon is an online business so as ebay, I would like to own one of those some day and not just content writer.

2ruink:
I'm really enjoying ur support, no doubt. At least if I should start counting, I know exactly where to start. Ur point is clear and indisputable but I think there is a reason that calls for tolerance. Let me say it again my guy, that I won't beg off.

To a very good extent, I think this little delay we are having here is natural. People peep here with low interest because they have heard such stories a thousand times and found none to hold. I mean a lot of things have gone wrong in this nation. So much so that even the most honest reality is now greeted with the deepest misconception. It wouldn't make any difference to start a new race all with old principle.

I don't know if you are thinking exactly what I'm thinking. What I am thinking is: let it be on record that at so so so time, so so so individuals came together and killed the giant economic monster in this country. And don't forget the cost of making a change. Think of Alfred Douglas, Abraham Lincon and their likes. It has never been a soft journey. If you ask yourself the same question ten times, you will not find any answer to why Nigerians should be embarrassingly poor. It makes my blood boil whenever I remember the kind of money these so-called politicians fizzle out on daily basis. I don't like talking about them because it gives me nightmare. What is the point that justifies the poor condition of our youths? I know how bad I'm touched because I'm one victim of this nonsense.

I want our people here to get a clear picture of where we are going first. Yes! Let them understand that the youths of this country can break the ugly barrier and slaughter the economic monster. We can shake the economic wind so hard that even the 'high-handed' will submit to our choice. To get our people understand these things, they need time and tolerance.

While all members are expected to come offline and brainstorm, I believe that if I should hint my own ideas here, people will be intrigued. What we are about to plant is a great seed, an effulgent legacy that will overshadow the weakness of our past. It is not a mere waste of time as many people might have wrongly presumed.

Can you see that I wouldn't for any reason whatsoever allow this dream to drown, especially when I have many other options to set the ball rolling. I keep telling people that the firewood fetched during the winter keeps the house warm when it rains.
I totally understand where you are coming from. Please no pun intended; The likes of Kenny Ogumbe of Kennis Music used to dominate the naija entertainment space, all of a sudden new breed of independent record labels started popping up from all corners, as we speak Kennis music is played out, I barely hear of those guys or see them in front of camera these days. This same scenario can be repeated in business sector by our generation.....lol

I am adding a little twist to 2ruiks inventions to make it more appealing to car owners and commoners. Lets take big cities like Lagos and Port Harcourt for example; Car owners that are worried about cost of fixing their cars including price for spare sparts and how much mechanic charges for repairs may utilise this business application . As a web business developer, you can ask as many mechanics in your city to list their business name, contact and price charge for repairs they carry out daily on different car make, model, year and mileage/Kilometer (this data can be gathered for months). Approach major spare part shops in your city, request for as much spare part pricing on different vehicle and models as you can. Make sure you categories the mechanics by cities, an example can be mechanics in Ikeja area would have their information under ikeja category. Contents in your website should also be by category which include, find a shop near you,Get estimate on your repair. As a car owner for instance, you may not know much about car repairs and you are afraid of been cheated by your mechanic for your car transmission that need's replacement, all you have to do is go on this new website as suggested by your colleague(pacemaker),type in the year and make of your car, your location, the parts that needs replacement and click search. The software inbedding on this site will generate your information and show an estimate price for the spare parts, mechanic labor charges, the nearest mechanic workshop and a close by spare part shop to purchase the said item. With such information handy, you can easily call few mechanics to compare their labor cost and also spare part shops to compare their cost and find out who is cheaper. Every party involved will benefit from the said website.Mechanic will get more customers,Part sellers will make more sales, car owner will save cost, site owner will get more traffic and profit of his/her site . This is just a rough sketch, you can add to this, what ever I have on here is just a stepping stone to your idea. Naijas are Brilliant peeps, I believe some one will be creative, utilize and then perfect this idea.

for several reasons, dropping emails/contact details on a public forum might not be the best/safest approach

even if some of you dont mind, it will deter others

i suggest you setup a mailing list on www.googlegroups.com and whoever is interested should mail their details there
better still, whoever is interested should mail stpat1 at his email address above (or mabelly), and he'll compile and forward as needed

An average Nigerian wants to be successful yet he or she does not want to work towards it.@ 2ruinks there is always stumbling block, people will doubt you and fail you in the process, it's left for you to go for it alone or together with the few loyal soldiers you got. As said earlier on, set a meeting date on here and use that to measure the competence of NL bloggers. Don't provide food or drink and if you do, you will attract free loaders

femi_olu: personally, i really don't think government can really spur enterprise in people
all that we need is for them to simply provide electricity, good roads, and all
the basic amenities of life. they should also provide security and a moral judiciary
and leave the rest for the enterprising people in the country to take advantage of...
You are absolutely right and unfortunately the government is selfish and corrupt. Although, the citizens have their role to play by paying their electricity bill.

2ruink: Gu moni folks! One of my clients invited me to pick a synopsis of a short writing work she wants me to do for her. I couldn't go yesterday because she called very late. But I'm going there this morning. If she likes our bargain, that means I will be very busy today. I may not be free enough to attend to this thread. Hope you guys don't mind.

But just before I go, let me quickly remind our ladies here that YOUWIN program is theirs and theirs alone. YOUWIN as you know is the youths empowerment program designed by the federal government early last year with sole aim of fighting poverty/unemployment in this country. I don't know how transparent they are but I heard, several hundreds of people received their grant during their last offer. The money they give as grant ranges from N1m to N10m depending on the size of your business.

How it works is, you creat any business plan with good prospect. Write the synopsis and send to YOUWIN management via their online template. If your biz idea is good, you will be called for training after which you will be asked for the full biz plan and the money becomes yours. Simple as that!

This government can't stop to surprise us. I'm not in anyway comfortable with the idea of excluding guys from the show. The program was initially launched on the platform of empowering the 'youths' which would mean men and women. The ladies they are talking about are mostly not interested in business. The songs on their lips are songs of marriage and those that are married are more interested in the business of taking care of the children, which is good. I don't understand this our government oooo.

Anyway! To our ladies here, those of you that are interested in biz, I advise you take hold of this opportunity. If you don't have a concept of your own, take one from those we listed above and develop. And if you encounter any problem in the course of developing the concept, making the submission or going for their training, feel free to give me a buzz, I will be happy to assist you in as much as you are committed to this young club. Goodluck!
I am very very happy to read your thread, Yes we Can!!! I salute you my brother.

Well noted! Another area that would have boosted our GDP is agricultural sector. Sadly, this sector happens to be one of the most neglected because even the government has obviously lost focus. I think there is an urgent need for revamp in that direction if they really want to grow the economy.
And that's why Chinese and Saudis are competing in buying lands from ignorant Africans. Petrol will be thing of the past real soon. Next big boom are Agriculture and water. I am working for a new start up company(internship) in San Francisco, the guys running
the show are both Stanford graduates and they are less than 30 years old, my job is to provide enough data of failed water preservation companies and individuals that designed technologies for water preservation, it's not been an easy road in compiling those information thou. These guys are looking at the future, they know the next big bubble is water and that's why they started early
In carving out a niche for themselves.

I am here my bruv,I will always support positive organization. The Egyptian revolution was started by one man before it became an Arab spring. Nairaland is not visited by Nigerians alone, I bet other young entrepreneurs from Ghana and other African countries are taking notes.Renewable energy is what every civilized country is rushing into as we speak, oil will soon fade away just like how Enugu Coal factory and Ajaokuta Steel are history. Companies like GE, chevron are investing heavily on renewable energy, I hope Nigerian government can learn from this diversion of revenue. Majority of naijas rich men are into crude oil sales even the countries GDP is from Petrol export. Electric cars are in high demand in the US, middle east will soon start eating their oil.

Gu moni bros! emmm....going offline as you say, is the ideal thing and I've not forgotten about that but there is something I'm waiting for because the question will rather not be 'how many ppl indicated interest' but 'how committed are they.' judging by what we have here, it is obvious that our committed members are pretty few. You know I once tested the level of commitment here when I requested for a volunteer who would handle our correspondence. It's not as if I can't do it but I had a reason for that.

Maybe our friends here need more time to build confidence. As you know, this country is not a very safe place not just in terms of business. With what we are doing here, we are getting to know each other little by little so that when we finally set a date to meet, all "the qualified" members will not have to entertain any fear and again, that would guarantee that the money I will spend in hosting them won't be a waste lol.

Back to the health idea. The picture I have concerning this business will quickly make a household name. Doctors will easily get addicted to the site and pharmaceutical stores wouldn't want to be left out. One thing I foresee is that this biz will be capital intensive because one will need to hire the services of certain experts.
/Jesuslovesme/
Create a twitter account if that would help in bringing more people. You don't have to have a stadium capacity of members, with the few members you have you may be able to control, set and accomplish something. The best advertisement is word of mouth. I would advise you set a date here for trials, the meeting place can be some where secured and classic in Victoria island area, this you can use to measure the strength of committed Nairaland bloggers.

2ruink: Hi folks! It feels good to meet the thread in a sweeeeet condition. While it seems to have slightly adjusted from it's original course, it is nevertheless an intriguing bundle of beautiful prospect. Kudos to all those who have greased the wheel in one way or the other. You people are wonderful, you are so..so.. zestful......... emmmm...@pacemaker pls give me a western adjective to qualify these guys LOLs.

And to those who only peep to buy-in without making contributions, come out of your shell let's face the challenge together, we can accomplish the distance I'm sure. Come out now 'cos the free lunch might go offline asap. and you may not find a place. Nigeria needs the openness of vibrant minds like yours and not those detestable streaks of reticence.

I have already started benefiting from this young club. When Pacemaker called me from the states, he told me one thing that I could have paid money to have and so did 2sexy when he called. My short absence from the thread is due to the nature of my job. I am a structural architect and just recently, I bumped into a contract to erect a building. The said contract came with a very low mobilization. I accepted the deal because my uncle through whom I got the contract guaranteed my full payment and again, I need to prove a point with the job - the building is sure not the biggest in that locality but I'm working hard to make it a bijou residence as the owner requested.

I am also a writer. (Pls. don't see me as a jack of all trades because I've got the faculty and I'm a master of many!) You know, when writing becomes business, it becomes different from what I post here because the editor in me gets aroused. A friend who said he likes my job called me to tweak his father's memoir. I was just two days into it when the building contract came. So it was just a beautiful coincidence, though very hectic. I am on break now because I have exhausted my cash and my next pay is due two weeks hence.

@2sexy good to know, you have gotten the modem. This is another demonstration of love or perhaps, an evidence of trust. May God replenish the purse from where that money came and also bless you, the user, with greater wisdom and knowledge for the benefit of the entire members of this club. We are really making progress here. I actually promised to get you that modem but the turn of events wasn't very smooth and that was why I requested for your brief patience. It is well sha!

I will be dropping some ideas here from time to time for the good of the club but I will reserve my three major ideas for which I called for this organization. Those ones are good enough to keep Dangote on the edge of his seat and it really took me a great deal of research to develop them. Notwithstanding, I've got a whole lot of other ideas to share.

Here comes one: think of Nigeria as a whole and other African countries of equal medical standard. What do you see?.......a region where self medication is an acceptable culture. Majority don't go to hospital until they begin to feel the presence of death apparently because hospital bill is on the high side. Think of building a website, a super website that can accommodate the names of all the registered hospitals in Nigeria, their addresses, customer care phone numbers and their respective services/specialties. This website will also accommodate all the registered pharmaceutical stores in Nigeria, their respective locations and contact phone numbers. In return, the site will carry the names of all the useful drugs and their use. Then, the names of all the disease, their symptoms and cure.

This site will be automated in a way that if Mr. A feels headache while in his bedroom, he could simply log into the site and lodge his complaints. Then, the software will automatically generate questions like: how long has the headache lasted? How frequent does the headache come? When exactly is it more severe, morning or evening? After answering these questions, it will be known if Mr. A's case needs doctor's attention or otherwise. If a doctor's attention is needed, he could be directed to the most appropriate hospital where such cases are best attended to. If otherwise, he will be directed to the nearest pharmaceutical store with the best prescriptions.

You see that every hospital, every pharmaceutical store and possibly every individual will want to identify with this site. In the case of pharmaceutical stores, each one of them will need to open an e-store on your site where they will be allowed to list all their available drugs such as to enable hospitals and individuals place their order. All the doctors will also want to identify with your site because you may decide to publicize some remarkable achievements of renowned medical personnel.

I will direct any interested person(s) on how to get a comprehensive list comprising names of registered hospitals and pharmaceutical stores.
Cheers!!!

PS Join me in thanking God for his mercies and protection. Gun men nearly sent me to the netherworld but God said NO.
/Jesuslovesme/
I am genuinely sorry for your encounter with men of the underworld, I hope the shocker would not distract your goals. You seems to be very busy keep it up and I am glad you came out to clarify yourself.I liked the idea you have above but my fear is not too many Nigerians would patronize such service. I have an app on my phone that does same service. Please please, you guys should focus on taking this organization offline or create regional base meetings.

I have used all world shipping several times and they have not disappointed me.if you have difficulties in reaching them on the phone, send them an email or better still leave a message on their answering machine. Although,I would like for them to improve their service in picking up phone calls or calling customers back that same day. I used grandbelle few times and they are total mess, I would not advise my enemy to use them. All world has been good to me, my goods gets to Lagos within 7 days well intacted . I ship from California which takes few days to arrive New York and from there it takes three days to leave their Valley Stream office to Lagos. Give them a try
