I just stumble upon your thread by chance. I will call you

^^ I'm based in Lagos.
I could help you make some enquiries about what chemicals they commonly import and use in the pharmaceutical and soap industries for starters.
Since you're in US, can you guarantee the quality of the chemicals you'll source from there?
Although, i have a feeling (quite unproven) that chemicals imported from USA might be more expensive that ones sourced from other countries, like Germany and India.
I heard United States has corporate advantage over those countries you mentioned. What about caustic soda, is it cheaper to source it from china that United States? I would like to read from those that are familiar with this area of trade. In regards quality, united states has a standard when ir comes to products. We have the best agencies that monitor substandard goods. If you can do feasibility studies we can discuss long term relationship

Hello BigBen, I am also based in United States(12years)and plan on relocating after graduate studies. I would like to connect with you via email (emma_nd (at) yahoo dot com). I am in search for Nigerian Americans that relocated back to Nigeria,so I can have a round-table conversation with them and their experience living in Nigeria. I am not seeking info from those that are connected in Nigeria because their experience is differ from an average Joe,you dig right? I have worked for Medical device co in Silicon Valley and could easily have access to inventory from them and others.
Business / Advise On Importing Industrial Chemicals To Nigeria by Pacemaker: 5:09am On Dec 19, 2013
I am a United States based Nigerian that would like to import industrial goods to bulk buyers in Nigeria. How do I go about this business and do I have to be connected to industries that will need my service in other to gain a market share? Intended products are chemicals for Pharmaceutical and Petroleum industrial needs. I don't want to face thw hassle of dealing with individuals, since I wouldn't be fully based in Naija. Any suggestions on the best practice will be awesome. I wouldn't mind acquiring licensing for distribution in companies that manufacturer consumer goods also. I have a disposable income of 60k dollars for a start and would invest more if there is a future for this biz. I will not respond to a private email request, every feedback should be posted in public. Lets work hard in given our country a good name by providing transparent
response.

Hi bro,

Thanks for the compliments. The problem most Nigerians face is capital cost of straying offline. There are a couple of offline business idea i have but considering the cost,It might not be worth posting. Its more expensive to operate offline business as compared to online business. The offline business for example needs an office space which could range from 100,000-500,000 but online business has a virtual office called a website which cost less than 5000 naira/year to hold.

ive been very busy this week thats why i havent got the time to post and reply to some pals on here. My goal is to educate Nigerians on how to go online and remain online.

I am not a novice when it comes to online business. I am working on a project for Amazon to increase their market power over companies like ebay(Analytics). 90 percent of business that are online fail. Your ideas are brilliant but are not meant for Nigeria's culture. Nigerians are visual buyers are that is why places like computer village,Onitsha main market and Alaba mkt will continue to record high revenue.

Great Idea @OP. Nigerians are all about fast lane, I doubt most people showing excitement and interest will have the perseverance needed to establish a profitable online business in Nigeria. From experience, I would advise you share offline business ideas that would appeal to Nigeria's b2b culture. On a similar topic, we had 28pages on brilliant biz ideas shared on nairaland and yet to hear of a single testimony from those that showed similar interest and excitement.

jaidopor: @ Tobilola,

There are comment that dont warrant any answer especially if those comment were made by some self acclaim haulage guru.

After 2.5 years in the business with 7 truck and another on the way, someone read a comment i made and instantly made a decision regarding a business venture that he knows nothing about.

That shows your level of business acumen. People that think that its either their way or the highway. Please, go back to your container haulage and stop using your business model to judge others.

Please, re-read all my comment and yours and you will see that we are saying different thing totally.I said that the guy didnt have anything to show for a whole month for 2 trucks and you are saying something totally different. naa waa.......

( its only in Nigeria that someone that dont have a car will be calling a car owner as a wretched fellow-- I dont mean it as an insult)

Out of here........
Your response was very mature....It shows you live in a civilized country and not.......

I rather not reply your post. A bit full of yourself you seem to me. After 7 dump truck, i know the way the market is. I know that this is a public forum and everybody are entitle to their opinion just like i have the right to vent and rant on the same forum too. But, not everyone are novice and inexperience as you seem to assume.

The returns depend on your locality and the route your truck use. I have truck that bring in 200K + and i also have truck pay up to 400K (for more than 1 year now). It all depend on the route and the contract he/she is on.
Having a guarantor/ contract does not mean anything if someone employ a dubious manager (not written on the face). Somepeople can have a prior good track record but wont give a damn when you employ them. What is the purpose of arresting and locking up the guarantor and the manager because of mere 650K? Contract or no contract, a dishonest and dubious manager will always show their true color on the long run.

So, for your information, all your assumptions (no contract, truck location, no guarantor etc) is wrong. I know where the truck is, i have an approximate ideas of how much the 2 dump truck will make in a month based on the truck location and route using universal locator and trip counter on the truck. He volunteer to pay the amount stated on the contract (which still leave him a tidy amount at the end of the month as his own commission). I am only mad because of the greediness and the short sightless been displayed by the guy. You have 2 truck with another one on the way and you still displayed such dishonesty. How come a manager dont have anything to show for a whole month as return. Pathetic......

Please ignore those low self esteem troll.

That is the norm in Nigeria. Imagine my brother in-law who came back from Australia and asked for my help to open an entertainment business for him with promise of at least 100,000 naira per month into my account. I ended up shuuting the place down last November. I spent in the region of 3.5 million naira on the business by buying Complete DJ equipments, Olympic standard pool table, table tennis, drinks of all kind, flat screen tvs, 8KVA generator sets cooking utensils, motorized satellite equipment from Cotonoue for most European soccer games and many more. Imagine since the business started I had to be sending money from U.S to run the day to day of the place. The guy spent 9 months doing the business and he asked me for another 600k rent for another year which got me flipped. All the equipments and materials are now in storage facility as I alsmost got hypertension. This guy only gave me 140,000 naira for 9 months he spent on the business. This guy just took me for a ride. This is my very brother in-law married to my younger sister.

I shut the place down before the one year rent expired. My advice to Nigerian in diaspora is to refrain from opening a business for anyone to manage on your behalf in Nigeria.
Relationship with inlaws is overated. I would not advise anyone doing business or partnering with their inlaws because it causes over familiarity which most times ends up as disaster. An inlaw of ours stole the sum of 45million naira from my brother who was trying to help him in a joint business. He even treated to kill my bruv if he pursue any form of legal actions against him. My bro left Nigeria long time ago for US, he under estimated the greed out there prior to been bite by his own inlaw.

I tired oh.....help me ask him.
Although the money invested is a little bit high, i can still write off my loss..........But, what i still cant comprehend is the fact that some people just cant see beyond their nose bridge. All what they care about is what they will eat today and always refused to think about tomorrow.

Funniest thing is that when i spoke to him today, he was begging me that he will not default again and this is a one off. Ok......how about February money? Guess what he told me? He told me that he will only be able to pay February money on the 16th of March. In short, he was busy spending the money he made daily or diverting it into another project. Why will someone eat in such a way that he wont remember tomorrow?

Funniest thing, these are the same set of people that will be labeling others in position of power as corrupt. Some people have a long way to go in life.
I would advise you withdraw any business dealings with him before yoh die of heart attack. Its better you cut your loss now and move on. People out their are heartless and thats why their police treat them like scums

Nigeria is becoming the dumping ground for all forms of socialites and washed up celebrities. Kenya is fast becoming the silicon valley of Africa why Nigeria is fast becoming a National cake to reality TV stars and their musical artist friends. I would not be surprise to hear of Flavor Flave coming to Nigeria very soon for his own national cake.

Like I said Sir,it is a modernized form of your local AJOO/ESUSU Scheme. Its just that Nigerians have been bitten by their unrealistic expectations from
previous schemes that even the heavy capitalised companies like banks do not even try to offer, because they know its not feasible. We have been with financial
experts and have entertained their questions and they have all come to one common statement, which is that its an empowerment scheme that deals with common sense, the proceedings is transparent and its notcompanianies aren'tick scheme. At least with ours you know how the money is coming/or being generated. We are not lying to anyone that its going to oil and gas, stocks, real estate. Its simply redistributing the registration funds amongst members based on first come first serve.
If you would like us to meet, i would be glad to put you through it step by step.

It took us 8 years to develope this, scammers dont take that long. We are here to stay. This a legacy that will serve Africans all over the continent. One day at a time we will keep on growing. We have 501 registered members so far, made more than 30 N10,000 payments thus far and we will keep on going,5 yrs down the line you will keep on hearing about us and seeing our marketers. You can call me for an appointment on 08098265005. Be happy to make you a believer.

Business / Re: Guys, Let's Talk Business by Pacemaker: 11:11am On Feb 12, 2013
sege73: Greetings Everyone

On viewing the series of chart messages passed on from one to another, i would like to introduce something to you all.
My name is Mr Imah Olusegun, Managing Director of SHP ENTERPRISE(a Resource Planning & Management Firm, based in Lagos at Suite B3,128 JEHOVA JIREH PLAZA,by Cement bus stop,Ago palace way,Okota)
We launched a product last year Oct 2nd 2012,which actually took us 8yrs to research & develop it and we are glad that
it has gradually being accepted more and more.
The product is called SHP SCHEME (registered under CPC -CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY OF NIGERIA) - Its a blend of the positive traits of your local community thrift contribution schemes
and the MLM programs you are all so familiar with,(but its not entirely like your regular MLMs).

The uniqueness of the SHP Scheme is that all it takes is for anyone that wants to register for it are:
Personal Bank a/c
Registration fee of N2000 (which is paid once only for life)
but the great thing is that it qualifies the members to keep on earning up to N10,000 periodically for life(proven, tested and working).

Unlike the regular MLMs,that relies on members going about to refer people, the SHP SCHEME is primarily promoted and marketed by SHP MARKETING Staffs(both full time and contract). So as people are being registered by the staffs the software that runs the program on our website (www.shpworld.com) is arranging everyone
in the network pyramid based on first come - first serve basis. Which means there is nothing like an individual having his/her own tree leg growing way ahead of the other members, No. The whole network is growing at an even pace, but there is still the network marketing benefit whereby if any member refers someone he/she gets a referal bonus but the person is not directly arranged under him/her but rather the software will take the person into the next available free spot.So as the network grows people automatically come other each other, for everyone that comes under each other N200 is removed from their registration fee and passed up to their uplines,so as you keep on receiving this payment once it builds up to N10,000 the software automatically wires the money to your bank account and builds up for another payment.

We are looking for SHP REPS, that will open up centers where people can come and hear about the product via seminars(just like your regular MLM operation), coordinate the operation of the staffs we will hire for the marketing operation (if its outside lagos) and for this, the REP is entitled to N50 per head for every one that is registered via them in that state via their center.

We are also looking to hire more MARKETING OFFICERS here in lagos under the following conditions:

Flexible work hours-reporting to the office only twice a week
Monthly Renumeration-N40,000
Target based-80 registrations per month (approx 4 registrations per day)
If target is not met for a month, then the salary paid will be commensurate with what the marketer was able to bring in,if excess registration was done
then some of it will be taken into the next month as part of his target already attained.

Pls feel free to go through our website and also call me for any other info. on 08098265005
Does pyramid scheme still exist? Business of such is to target the poor and ignorant. This thread is for professionals,I would advise you take your thread to a smoke fish market in Lagos. Onyinbo dey busy they invent things when go change the world, naija man dey brain storm ways on how to extort money from the ignorant and uneducated. ...Deuces !!!!

My advice is for you to to do business in countries where rules are adhered to. I will suggest Ghana (very close to Nigeria and there is sanity in getting business document), Ethiopia where getting business setup with the ministries take couple of days. South Sudan, new country lots of business opportunities and many more I can not mention now. Old college friends have like minds and can be truthful dealing with you.

My last advice to you, where ever you go, don't ever try to get something your document does not allow you to get. Don't be too greedy. Partner with decent local people, be contented with your achievement after all its business its not do or die affair.

Goodluck
Thanks for this information. I will never form partnership with a naija man but Ghanian or Tanzanian. We need to start telling ourselves the honest truth. The world didnt wake up all of a sudden and started hating anything Nigeria, we brought this to ourselves. Rwanda is one of the best countries to do biz in Africa and I have spent time with their citizens in the past, very honest and transparent people, something that is rare in our society. Meet Nigerians in social gathering abroad, have biz conversation with them and all you will hear is how they were duped by friends and relatives. There is no middle class in our society which is caused by greed and lack of patriotism. I will be home this year, I will carry out my own research and make a conclusion.

Don't fail to include Nigeria in your toustatementia is the biggest opportunity centre in Africa. Infact the various problems we have actually serve as horrendous opportunities. stek partnerships, then ensure that you get someone thaunderstand enble as you are financially. Dont put money in anybody's hands except you have more than concrete reasons to. Also you can always set benchmarks before releasing monies. Do this and I release so and so. Over the course of your partnership, your partner would definitely expose hios deficiencies if there are any and at that point you can decide whether or not you would want to continue. Trust me there are more honest Nigerians than there are frauds!
Majority of people and I are having a hard time believing your last statement. Greed has consume that society and thats why you read or hear of terrible things done to innocent people. Nigeria is still an option but i would rather do business in a society that understand the rule of law. The guy that duped me years ago will pass for a pastor cos of his manipulative and sneaky ways. I learned through the hard way, I wont fall for that anymore. Thanks anyways
