Car Talk / Re: What Are The Dangers Of Buying A Flooded Car? by Pacemaker: 10:29pm On Jan 14, 2013
Please avoid buying flooded vehicle. When it comes to car business Nigerians are learning if compared to their middle eastern counterparts. Arab car dealers are running away from those cars cos they understand the aftermath. Please don't compare Nigerian rain with salt water that covered a two story building for several weeks before drying. Cars that could withstand Lagos flood are cars manufactured 1996 and below with lesser computerized gadgets. @OP don't let the Naija over wiseness over shadow intelligent judgement, avoid flooded cars, they are only meant for parts.

Lesson 1: Never use family and friend for business..Business should remain business even if you want to involve families or friends.

Lesson 2: You need to go back for more tutelage and apprentiship on how these boiz that do import the bales of clothes do make massive profits on them. I suggest you take time off your office job and go stay with them at the factories or charity homes where they actually get the bales. then folllow up till the good are discharged in naija.

Best of luck next time!
I totally agree with you but I can't quit my job for a hobby.

Thanks for d advice...i ll also like to know wc is more profitable btw interstate and taxi business.
About reliable driver, i want to do d driving by myself until i get a good job
Your capital is too small for transport Biz. The cons does not equals the pros. If you live in lagos try visiting near by towns like otta. Ask small scale cosmetics or provision store owners if you could be supplying them their goods in credit. These are goods that can only be found in idumota for wholesale price.sign an MOU with them and then proceed to collect your money after weeks of sale. It can be milk or other stuff that are used daily. After two years as been a small scale distributor you may expand to other region.

Interesting thread. I did send brand new children clothes to Nigeria last summer and had a very ugly experience using families as middle men and also inconsistent buyers. Please be very careful sending clothes to Nigeria for when it gets there you won't be able to bring it back to your base if things dont go as promised. The excuse was that my clothes were too thick and for that they wont pay much for the goods. I had to cut my loss. Good luck every one and I applaud the honesty here. I would like to send bails of used first grade children clothes from States but the price I am seeing here for a bail wont cut my shipping.

ruggedcuzz: Have been following this thread for sometimes now, am really impressed i must confess. Now that am in need of a good advice, i have no place to go than to fall back here.

Am planning to start a business with #500,000, and i decided to settle for transportation business since i believe its less risky and i dont need to start begging for customers.

With that amount, i ll need an advice on the type of transportation business to go into, with good return. Is it interstate or i should just buy a car and use as taxi within my community?
I need your professional advice as am a newbie to this business
Nigerian roads are too rugged for some one with just 500k. You will need half of that amount reserved for repairs incase there are break down. Drivers in Nigeria are not reliable also. Best of luck and never listen to those requesting a private discuss via email (419).

Lol . . . Well,i have stories to tell too of how i have lost money and all that till God Blessed me with my recent and current partners . . . I have realized some of my mistakes and learnt from them, yes, i have a reliable company in Canada that does money remittance for me and very affordable and reliable.
One of the mistakes i made is what you probably made too, wanna make all the money in one day instead of growing into the money making . . . by so doing you minimize your loss and gradually grow while learning the rope
You are absolutely right, I was shipping bulk goods to Nigeria and was hoping to get a fat return because I thought the Nigeria I left years ago still has its legacy. My college buddies parents are heavy in the political scene in one of the political stsbled east african countries, they promised to clear the way out there for me so I can be shipping goods direct to wholesale buyers. I have known people of that country here in states as very honest with good conscience. If it works out as planned....viva doing biz with Nigerian traders! !!!

I clearly understand your pains with Nigerian or Nigeria but we still have people who are honest. The environment itself doesn't promote or reward honest people like it should, but there are Nigerian who still bear honesty as a principle. If you need someone to trust with your dealings in Nigeria, we can talk and m very sure you would be informed thru me. Lovely day
I am very sorry, I am looking beyond shipping goods to Nigeria. Any high end goods I ship to Nigeria for now will be for personal usage or if its by demand from a client.

I am sure you know that question is so direct and personal and i wont be answerng such questions jexperiencehat without knowing why you asked and who you are, no offence intended
I dont mean to scare you, its just amazing to hear a fellow diasporan vouch for those back home as been honest because speaking from my own experience i can say i have no one to trust out there. My brother lost 300k dollars to a relative in Nigeria while I lost one fourth of that amount also. We don't ship one container to Nigeria when we used to, the minimum were ten at a go.

I can not believe this, why treating life with kid gloves? I lost close associates that came to Nigeria for a wedding cos our society lacks maintenance culture. Is it that the government has memory lapses or her citizens are just passive( na their wahala be that attitude) ? God Bless the dead.

I am very sorry for the late response. I barely revisit threads. What I do most times is use ground shipping to NYC through usps or ups where it is then forwarded to Nigeria by All world shipping. This guys are more reliable from experience with others. Ask for DJ

I doubt the company that had those goods for sell still have them, they contacted me wanting to know if I was interested in buying their lot. Since I got no response from people back home I had to let the deal slide. ....Thanks

Happy New year everyone. I have been reading headline news from Nigeria and I must confess to you all that majority of the negative news are conscious chaos inflicted on the unfortunate ones by the government and her citizens. I am not an opportunist but I can tell you that a visionary can benefit from all those problem decaying our beloved society. This is an entrepreneur thread, i understand but as a reminder in order for one to be successful he/she must defile ethic rules. During both world wars, majority of entrepreneurs turned billion over night by providing goods and services to warring parties. I am not saying you should start selling arms to Boko Haram or Kidnappers, what I am implying is for you to look at the Nigerian society and ask your self how you can contribute your quota to minimize her present challenges. Insecurity and safety to be exact, while you rake in millions providing such service. I just saw the security vote passed by senate and it was mind boggling. I did mention a gadget for providing remote access locks in houses to monitor burglary from your smart phone anywhere in the globe.Think about providing such service to the well to do people in areas like Omole estate in Lagos and VGC,even the army barracks. In the area of Safety, we hear of Tanker explosion all over our major cities, why not lobby the office of the new FRSC chair person to mandate all Tankers to have a form of gasoline detector aboard their heavy duty, rusty tankers that ply our major roads? Such business plans does not come easy, you may need financial back up and a good business plan in order to facilitate such ideas. Anyone willing to carry on with this idea should consult with me for advise. You must be financially buoyant enough and well connected to carry on with such venture if not it wont fly.

i am a regular visitor of this thread but now i am very interested in beign actively involve,i have my own little ideas too,but am still waiting for when venue and time will be fixed for participants and interested people to meet and discuss, since everything is graduating to a club(kind of)will be so happy to pick my membership form too.at times sharing ideas with the wrong people could be more frustrating at the end,so its really will be of great benefit if a meeting is scheduled and we all discuss.presently i am into home appliances,am an aggressive marketer too,so am interested in anything that has to do with marketing and services.
Home appliance is the way to go. I recently came across a door lock that can be configured to a smart phone and then allow home owners to remotely unlock or lock their doors from any where. Does such technology exist in Naija already? I know our people are fast in acquiring gadgets. The down fall maybe NEPA....lol

Are you based in States? What exactly do you do in Nigeria (biz)? I have not been lucky with honest Nigerians. I hope to meet one some day. I visit Nigeria often and have been shipping stuff to Naij since 2005 and the story remains the same.

How can i locate your shop? You can reach me on 08038640490 Thank you, Mrs.Chike
I dont have a shop and dont really do this anymore since customers decided to be cheap for quality clothes. I am based in the US and i was using a relative to run the biz. It was part of a business research in testing the Nigerian market. I can only do pay as you go provided the client gives me details of what they want and then pay half upfront.

Business / Advise On US Made Toys Importation To Nigeria? by Pacemaker: 12:17am On Jan 02, 2013
Any one in the house familiar with toys importation and it's profit margin worth in Nigeria? I got contacted by a warehouse here in states in regards 24 pallets load inventory of toys for sell and ready for export. I don't really know how the market is like in Nigeria but from conversation with friends from Sierra Leon , I heard its a hot commodity out there. I would need honest opinion from some one that is into such commodity before I buy the whole pallet. Please no soliciting on here , if you don't have any answer to my question please don't derail my thread with childish threads. Looking forward to read from a transparent and honest individual based in Nigeria or other English speaking African countries. I won't retail but sell in bulk only.

You think what you say matters? You are just so ignorant and trying hard to make others buy into you self inflicted ignorance. A negative mindset cannot birth anything positive.
