Politics / Re: More Nigerians Commit Suicide As Obasanjo's Policy Takes Its Toll (Throwback) by pannyman(m): 8:59am On Jun 30, 2017
This shows that nothing is really new. Most Nigerians on social media are young people who have no knowledge of things that happened even in the recent past, and so to them everything is such a new experience.

Nigeria's economy has actually been on the downturn since the 1980s. Between then and now we have had periods of seeming prosperity and difficult times. Generally, that is just the cycle of life.

Tell them to flash it for you na! That's an official outlet, just pay them extra.

The language barrier is terrible! Chinese people no try at all. I couldn't get them to understand me when I spoke the Global ROM. I might buy it and take it to another part of town I have heard has a heavy concentration of electronics shops to have it flashed.

Fellow Xiaomites, I happen to be in the Chinese city of Hangzhou and got to visit the Xiaomi store this evening (yes, it's already evening here).

I had made up my mind to go for the Mi5S Plus and I saw it alright but they didn't have the Global ROM version in the shop. One of the salespeople assured me that I would be able to download apps on it in Nigeria once I installed Google Playstore, but I was skeptical so I didn't go ahead to buy it. I know it is possible to flash it with the Global ROM and get it to work just fine but I have never done it before. I intend to go back tomorrow and buy it if the experts in the house can guide me please. Meanwhile, enjoy some pics I took there. grin

Family / Re: Can You Start A Family With This Salary In Nigeria? by pannyman(m): 12:38pm On Apr 02, 2017
Dear OP, 60k in 2017 is not the same as 60k in 2014. A lot has changed in the economy. You will have to ask yourself some crucial questions and answer them.

Will you be bearing the financial burden alone, or will your wife be able to contribute as well? Will you be sending money to relatives? Are you expecting an improvement in your financial situation in the near future? You know yourself better. Think it through and you'll have your answer. Wish you the best.

I just repaired my AC. used to blow hot air like yours before a friend took me to his AC man workshop at Ikosi last saturday. My car AC hasn't worked like this since i bought my car. My friend was right about him..he is good at what he does. Could recommend the guy if you live in Lagos.
PS: tried 2 previous AC repairers. Both just collected money and ended up doing nothing. One even told me he will need to remove the entire dashboard to have my AC work well.
I hope you are right. I am yet to meet a Nigerian ac technician who knows what they're doing.

Ohh boy if you don't hustle or strive at whatever you are doing ,even if car is #10 no be everybody go fit afford am ... De jee nuu

He might not have had to save to buy the car. In those days civil servants were granted loans to buy cars, and the money was deducted from their salaries over a number of years. It was the same thing for commissioned officers in the military. Life was really easy.
Politics / Re: Lucky Irabor: "I Directed Air Strike That Misfires And Killed Many In Borno" by pannyman(m): 8:43am On Jan 18, 2017
The accident is highly regrettable and really sad. It is sadder still when people come online and pen reactions as if such an incident is unheard of. Please google "collateral damage" and find out what it means. In many theatres of war such accidents happen where residential areas, hospitals and other civilian areas get hit by mistake. Even outside war zones it happens.

For example, in 1983 a Soviet fighter accidentally shot down a South Korean Airlines Boeing 747, killing 269 passengers and crew. The pilot thought it was an US Air Force jet. In 1988 a US Navy ship shot down an Iranian airliner killing 290 people, mistaking the plane for an Iranian F-14 Tomcat.

People should realise that a war is not a picnic, and that things can go wrong from time to time. Human beings make mistakes but life must go on.

Please let's use this medium responsibly to air our opinions.
