Started Agentina 1978 but my first proper World Cup is Espana 1982. I still remember the amatches like it was yesterday and the star players too.

Wonderful. Me too. The only 1978 match I remember is the final between Argentina and the Netherlands. In 1982 I was mature enough to understand football well enough, and I followed it right from the first game between Argentina and Belgium.

That's a good man right there.

Only local governments and other authorized state or federal agencies have the right to construct bumps on public roads.

Nigerians take laws into their own hands and think it's the right thing to do .

Some roads have been severely defaced and spoilt by bumps.

Airforce road in pH now experiences traffic because of two useless bumps installed there.

Put a speed limit on roads, equip police with speed cameras and make money for the state or federal government if overspeeding is a concern.

And not inconvenience other road users.

The speed bumps are so annoying. They are totally unnecessary and such a nuisance because of the hold up they cause. Just as you said, a speed limit and road signs are all that is required and if any driver decides to speed recklessly, they should be ready to face the consequences. Speed bumps on such a major road is strange.

immortalcrown:
All those shouting "Get your PVCs" are delusional. The number (population) of voters is never the problem. The choice voters make is the problem.

If only ten persons vote and the majority (at least six) of the ten persons vote wisely, good leaders will emerge.

If 100 billion persons vote and majority of them vote foolishly, bad leaders will emerge.

If number of voters is the problem, there will be no problem in the northern region because that region usually give a very high number of votes.

I do not discourage people from getting PVCs. But I put it to you that number of voters is not among the major problems. Rigging is a bigger problem than low number of voters. The moment INEC was challenged to provide 2019 election data in court, the case died off. This shows Atiku got more legitimate votes than Bubu. Would you blame the 2019 result on those who did not vote? Also, what about the case of Imo state where someone who came 3rd or 4th in an election later became the governor? Is low number of voters responsible for that?

Number of voters only favours tribalism. And tribalism is not good in politics. A good leader is good to all tribes. A bad leader is bad to even his own tribe. Each tribe is clamoring for PVCs just to possible make its son the president. Igbo people are shouting PVCs to ensure Obi wins. Yoruba people are shouting the same thing to ensure either Tinubu or Osinbajo wins. Northerners are doing their own thing to make a northerner the next president. This is the problem.

If voters vote wisely, a good candidate will win and treat everybody well even if the majority of the voters are not from his own tribe. If voters vote foolishly, a bad candidate will win and treat everybody bad even if majority of the voters are from his own tribe. Bubu is a proof.

I repeat, I do not discourage people from getting PVCs. I myself have my own PVC. But let us understand PVC is not the major problem.

Excellent analysis! So many people are being led to believe that the PVC is the solution to the problem of good leadership in Nigeria, and they don't bother to think about even the quality of candidates which is a big headache for discerning voters.

The issue of tribalism is another monster, which influences the voting pattern in the country. In the end your vote only guarantees that you have a say, but does not necessarily mean that you'll have your way.

The radio presenters keep telling people to get their PVCs so that they can vote in good leaders, as if everybody thinks alike. Who one person thinks would make a good leader, to another person is a bad choice. There are so many variables in elections, and the PVC does not guarantee that the voters will elect the best candidate.

You cant name just one.

Who told you that there are not long stretches of road in Lagos. That is why we laugh when you guys hype the unhypeable.

I live in USA. The roads are tarred to your doorstep. I mean to your very doorstep. You can drive interstate for 20 hours without seeing one pot hole not to talk of bad road.

Every street in Lagos ought to be tarred. Apart from that there are thousands of untarred major roads in Lagos. Go around your state bro. Lagos is not just mainland LGA and Island.

When Ameachi called Lagos a glorified slum you think he did not know what he was saying?

I was once on the Tinubu/ Lagos is the greatest hype train until i went to other states and travelled out. I became depressed for a while just knowing our lives were substandard. Its not about having money.

The last time i was in Lagos during Ambodes era everywhere was smelling because of refuse dumping on every street corner.

Me i will ust advise you leave all these old thieves and stop defending them and focus on your life and that of your children to give them a better future.

They themselves know that is why they dont let thier children live in Nigeria but bring them abroad for a better quality of life while they come in and out every weekend or month.

I agree with you totally, and I understand all you said about the untarred roads in Lagos. Lagos is such an eyesore whenever one sees it from the air when coming from abroad. There is still so much work to be done in the state to modernise it.
Politics / Re: Iyorchia Ayu Calls Tambuwal ‘Hero Of Convention’ As Atiku Visits Him by pannyman(m): 7:41am On May 30, 2022
festacman:
The conspiracy against Gov. Nyesom Wike was of high level and 'conspirators' came from across the country. It had little to do with the Northern unity. The fact is that Gov. Wike's bully attitude as well as how he threw his weight around brashly as party financier and given his role in getting Supreme Court to retrieve PDP back from Modu Sheriff had become a source of worry and even fear to party bigwigs. They didn't want to take any chances at the primary. So, they prevailed on Gov. Tambuwal, whom Gov. Wike had tagged an ingrate in the course of his consultation with delegates, to step down and openly support Atiku Abubakar. Desperate calls were also made to some leaders to reach out to delegates. It worked.

If you consider the number of votes Gov. Wike got in spite of the 'conspiracy', you will understand that without that intervention, he would have pulled a surprise.

Well, Gov. Wike has himself to blame for his 'Putin-istic' attitude. And things could get worse for him when his tenure ends. He might find himself completely outside the umbrella. Fortunately, Kwankwanso's NNPP is there to absorb Internally Displaced Politicians (IDP) from both PDP and APC.

The last paragraph really cracked me up grin grin grin

Family / Re: My Dad Almost Killed Me Today! by pannyman(m): 7:10am On May 06, 2022
@OP, the reason why your father can dictate to you what kind of phone to use is because you live under his roof. In other words, you are still a dependent. You should make it a priority to take care of independent and get a place of your own. You said it was a brand new iPhone. OK, part of the money you used to buy that phone could have been used to pay for an apartment . If you can afford such an expensive phone, brand new then you can afford to stay on your own. At 27 you are a grown man.

Act like a man and your dad will show you the respect you deserve, and most importantly, he won't interfere in your affairs. Living alone ensures that you have your privacy, and makes you more focused on things that will advance your life.

Lol. I've been reading this particular bit of story from many WhatsApp broadcast message.

People just imagine stories and share on social media. Isn't it funny how the narrator didn't give the name of the joint he supposedly met this lady?

Also, you want to return someone's wallet to them it's a joint you decided to meet the person, second, a joint they don't even know you and nobody can come to your defence?

Whatever happened to meeting the lady in a public pace of well known repute like Ikeja Shopping Mall. Atleast there nobody will make attempt to burn you alive or even meet her at any eatery or fast food joint.

This is the latest trending piece of fiction on Whatsapp.

Lol, you don't understand and i will just share a little. My story is very long o. There was a time i did uber. I sleep in the car everyday. I can tell you that i slept in the car for more than 70% of the time last year. Yes i did. I slept on the bed for just less than 30% all through last year. I wake up as early as 4am everyday and i drive all through lagos picking people and dropping people. I work for minimum of 16hours EVERYDAY. And i close most time from work 12am sometimes 1am in the morning and i will sleep in the car and wake up as early as 4am to start the days job. I made money but then i will just sometimes be resting in the car during the day and i still start coughing VIGOROUSLY. Before i know what is happening, i will just deposit money in my account to my FX account and start to trade. While trading, i will be coughing as if my lungs wants to come out and i will be spitting foamy white sputum. Before i blink, all the money is gone in my FX account and that is it. The happens over and over again

This is so funny. Do you want to create more laughter or what? When you're not coughing can't you unsubcribe from those forex sites? You don't seem to be thinking constructively on how to solve your problem.

Car Talk / Re: LASG To Start "No Inspection, No Roadworthiness Certificate" Policy By January by pannyman(m): 8:50am On Nov 30, 2021
naptu2:
I remember what happened when they tried to implement this policy c1999.

Two things that Governor Tinubu talked about as soon as he took office were (1) the return of mission schools to their owners and (2) the MOT programme.

Lagos had for long been known for its rickety danfo and molue buses. The government made it mandatory for all public buses to undergo the Ministry of Transportation (MOT) test. Vehicles that were not road worthy would not be allowed on the road. He had reached out to the auto assembly plants in Nigeria (PAN, VON, etc.) and major car companies to assist public bus owners to repair their vehicles at a discount.

Then the police and the newly formed LASTMA started impounding the buses and that's when the NURTW decided to show its power.

I went out to see things for myself and you won't believe what I saw. NURTW went on strike. There were massive crowds at bus stops as people who went out earlier in the day could not go back home because of lack of buses. Danfo buses were arriving at bus stops just to mock passengers. The conductors would call destinations and people would rush towards the buses, but they would speed off as soon as the crowd got near. Bus conductors were telling people to go and call Tinubu to come and carry them. I also saw a long convoy of danfo buses on Ikorodu Road and I learnt that they were on their way to Alausa. Okada riders made a killing on that day. Lagosians blamed the "wicked new governor" for their problems. People were calling in to radio shows to berate the government.

Then on the third or fourth day the government capitulated. The NURTW had won.

It'd be very interesting to see how they'll implement it this time.

Thanks for this historical perspective. I really like this.

I used to be married and suffered from the same issue.

We lived together for like 2 years before marriage and we had a fantastic sex life. Almost immediately after we got married, sex life stopped being great but it wasn't bad. After the first baby, it deteriorated a bit more. It was like going to work when we tried for a second baby i.e. wake me up from sleep to have sex with the sole purpose of conceiving having calculated her fertile days.

After 2nd baby, sex dried up. I tried to reason with her on a few occasions but all to no avail so I eventually looked outside and never looked back. I lost interest in her totally and the outcome was divorce.

I honestly think this refusal of sex thing has something to do with how comfortable a woman gets. When you get married, they know you are stuck with them and either consciously or subconsciously, start to withdraw their sexual services.

Now I have like 6 girls I am running concurrently (God forgive me) and the one that came closest to refusing me sex is the one I let live with me for a bit. The rest wey na come and go, dey gimme steady sungbàlaja. Even when dem dry, we go use lube. I quick wake up from my slumber pursue the one wey wan turn landlady for house.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. At my big age? Never Again will I let any woman run format on my head!
