Xiaomi already has a powerful applock function that can be locked and unlocked via code, password or fingerprint. It is unlike the applock apps on Playstore that are not reliable, and can disappoint you at any time.

Juju is overrated. Where was juju when the Europeans conquered Africa? The British attacked Benin and took away the Oba and banished him. Where was the juju?

Atiku has seen that the campaign is going to cost him a colossal amount of money, and with little money coming from the PDP governors he might get bankrupt after the election, especially if he loses. He has therefore adopted a strategy of attacking Buhari's character to buy time while the elections approach. It's unfortunate that he is not doing enough to sell himself to the electorate. This approach of his is likely to backfire if he cannot substantiate his allegations.

Interesting that China with the world's largest population is nowhere near the top of the chart. I can personally confirm that porn sites are blocked by the authorities. Couldn't access any while I was there.

Car Talk / Our Auto Technicians And Lack Of Tools by pannyman(m): 12:13pm On Nov 06, 2018
I just can't help noticing how bereft of tools most of our auto technicians (mechanical and electrical) are. It is so glaring if you watch Youtube car repair videos a lot. Most of our mechanics do not have even basic ratchet wrenches that can save them a lot of time. Often they need to improvise to get the work done, which can lead to serious damage to car parts.

It appears to be difficult to source most of these tools locally, so I am already beginning to order them from abroad so that I can do some DIY work, and if necessary lend to a mechanic working on my car. Youtube videos have been quite an eye-opener. I have realized I can do stuff like change spark plugs and replace oxygen sensors by myself. All I need are the right tools, the right knowledge and the right attitude. Meanwhile, I already have my scan tool, so no guessing if a CEL appears.
Car Talk / Re: Car AC by pannyman(m): 3:15pm On Nov 05, 2018
@OP sorry about your plight. I have been in your shoes before and I can confidently say that most of our AC technicians are highly incompetent, being poorly trained. They don't have a good grasp of the basics and science of air-conditioning. You might just be better off just using the car without the AC instead throwing good away money.

Thank you for the information.

It has just been confirmed that automobile cruise control functions can not be used in naija; as in it wasn't designed for nigeria. We just have to use other functionalities because within every one mile or one kilometer, is a pot hole or uneven road or no road or traffic or toll gate.

Thanks again, good information.

That's not true. I for one use it everyday.

Car Talk / Re: I Need A New Car by pannyman(m): 9:42am On Aug 26, 2018
Mikkylounge:

I strongly disagree..Americans may have a better maintenance culture than Nigerians, but have you not noticed that we still spend thousands on (new tires, spark plugs, air filter, air conditioning service, new brake pads, at times, even new shocks, bushings, steering pump, fuel pump, etc) so called 'toks' cars before we really start enjoying them. This happens largely due to the fact that they stop servicing cars once they decide to sell them or the car may have been parked in a lot for a long while. Some of them even sell a car because the cost of changing tires and other serviceable parts may be high for them so they rather sell off the car and buy a/lease another one. If my budget for a car is low, i buy Nigerian used, and upgrade all abused parts with brand new parts, bought from the US thereby restoring the car to better than Toks form, and still save money cheesy. I've tried this and it hasn't failed me yet. Op, consider Nigerian used, pay Gazzuzz to inspect said car, buy and enjoy grin cool

True talk. My friend shipped down my 07 Camry and I needed to replace the following :

1. A wheel bearing
2. Water pump
3. ABS actuator (he graciously sent down a replacement free of charge)
4. Exhaust flex pipe
5. All 4 tyres within 5 months. The tyres were only 3 years old. I don't know how Americans use their tyres. They were worn and very noisy.

No CEL, thankfully, but I have to carefully monitor and top up the notorious 2AZ-FE engine with its oil consumption wahala.

Car Talk / Re: Fuel Pumps In Nigeria. by pannyman(m): 5:54pm On Aug 20, 2018
Meanwhile, the drivers who deliver cars to places far away from Lagos are very stingy about spending money on fuel. In November when my car was driven over to me in Port Harcourt the fuel ⛽ light was on already. The driver wasn't concerned that he might just run out of petrol before getting to his destination.
